Queen’s Jubilee Gets Some Star Power
Tom Cruise, Helen Mirren, Damian Lewis and Omid Djalili are to take part in the live ITV special, The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, on May 15th. This will be the first televised event to celebrate. The program will air live from the grounds at Windsor Castle. Keala Settle, Gregory Porter, Katherine Jenkins and a 75-piece orchestra comprised of Tri-Service personnel and augmented with members of The National Symphony Orchestra are to perform at the celebration. Jennifer Lawrence recently gave birth to her first child with her husband, Cooke Maroney, People reported Wednesday. E! News confirmed the news and said Lawrence and Maroney were spotted on a walk with their newborn April 12. On Sunday, Lawrence and Maroney were spotted with friends in Los Angeles, according to Elle. The group spent two hours at the Italian restaurant Chi Spacca. Lawrence wore a black blazer with a cream-colored maxi dress and accessorized with a scarf. Lawrence said in an interview with Vanity Fair published in November that she intends to keep her child’s life private. “Every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives, as much as I can,” the star said. “I don’t want anyone to feel welcome into their existence. And I feel like that just starts with not including them in this part of my work.”

Alec Baldwin Says He’s Exonerated
Alec Baldwin said he was “grateful” for New Mexico’s investigation into the fatal on-set shooting during the production of his ill-fated film “Rust” last fall, claiming that the state’s report “exonerates” him. “We appreciate the report exonerates Mr. Baldwin by making clear that he believed the gun held only dummy rounds,” Baldwin said in a statement through his attorney on the day New Mexico’s Occupational Health and Safety Bureau announced that the film’s production company Rust Movie Productions LLC would be fined the maximum $139,793 for safety failures while shooting. Baldwin tweeted a portion of the report on his Twitter account Thursday. The portion shared by Baldwin stated: “Alec Baldwin, Actor and Producer, and Joel Souza, Director, negotiated with various producers to help create and fund the Rust project. Alec Baldwin’s authority on the set included approving script changes and actor candidates.” Baldwin’s statement went on to say New Mexico’s report specified that his power as a producer on the film was “limited to approving script changes and creative casting. Mr. Baldwin had no authority over the matters that were the subject of the Bureau’s findings of violations, and we are pleased that the New Mexico officials have clarified these critical issues.” The report gave a scathing narrative of safety failures in violation of standard industry protocols, including testimony that production managers took limited or no action to address two misfires on the set before the fatal shooting. The bureau also documented gun safety complaints from crew members that went unheeded and said weapons specialists were not allowed to make decisions about additional safety training.

While Kim Kardashian seems ready to have Pete Davidson appear on her family’s new Hulu series, a source tells us people close to him are advising him against it. “His career has taken off, what does he need this for?” a source noted. He has a number of projects in the works, including a biopic about Joey Ramone, a rom-com with “SNL” co-star Colin Jost and a sneaker flick titled “American Sole,” among others. And although Davidson has dated high-profile women in the past (including Ariana Grande and Kate Beckinsale), his team believes that doing reality TV would blow up any sense of normalcy. “Before he met Kim, no one knew what Pete was doing [all the time],” explains the source. Davidson’s inner circle has also pointed out that men in the Kardashian universe (like Tristan Thompson, Lamar Odom and Kris Humphries) don’t normally fare well on reality TV. “It’s a sure way to kill the relationship,” the source argues. “Getting involved in the show decimates every man.” However, another source say that it isn’t true people are telling Davidson not to participate. “He feels no pressure to be in the show. Neither do the people around him. If it happens that he’s on the show, it happens.”

Mike Tyson Involved In Airplane Fight
Mike Tyson was reportedly involved in a scuffle with an airline passenger on Wednesday night that left the passenger bloodied. TMZ released a video on Thursday that showed Tyson punching a man seated a row behind him at San Francisco International Airport in an incident that the media outlet said occurred after passengers continued to pester the former boxer after he asked them to stop. A witness on the plane told TMZ that the former heavyweight champ was initially cordial to fans asking for photographs but one man continued talking in Tyson’s ear which appeared to irritate him before punches flew. A source reportedly told TMZ that the man who approached Tyson was extremely intoxicated. TMZ reported that the man who was punched received medical attention and went to the police following the incident.

Spider Monkey Born With Batman Symbol
A Florida zoo announced the birth of a baby spider monkey with “unique markings” that make it appear the simian has the Batman symbol on its face. The Brevard Zoo said mother Shelley, 31, gave birth to the baby in the early morning hours of April 15 and the baby is now doing well in the exhibit with the rest of the troop, including father monkey Shooter, 25. Zookeepers don’t yet know the sex of baby, but they noted the primate has unusual facial markings. “Keepers were surprised to see the baby’s unique markings, noting the resemblance to the Batman symbol,” the zoo said in the birth announcement. The zoo said the baby is currently on display with the rest of the spider monkey troop at the facility’s Rainforest Revealed exhibit. See the video HERE.

Woman Chased By Goose
A woman’s tense encounter with a territorial goose was caught on camera in a Florida parking lot. Victoria Willard, who posted the video to TikTok, said she started recording the bird in the parking lot of the building where she works in Jacksonville after her supervisor reported the territorial bird had attacked him while he was walking to the building. Willard recorded as a woman apparently came too close the goose’s nest, causing the bird to attack and chase her. The woman dropped numerous items while fleeing the goose, but another driver pulled their vehicle in between the woman and the bird, allowing her to recover her belongings. Willard said in a follow-up video that the goose’s egg has hatched and the gosling has been seen wandering around the parking lot with its parents. “Finally! Now we can get to work safely each morning,” Willard wrote in the video caption. See the video HERE.

Snake Slithers Across Doorbell Camera
A North Carolina woman whose doorbell camera alerted her to activity on her front porch said she was shocked to check the video feed and see a snake slithering in front of the camera. The homeowner, identified only as Rene, shared video with Ring showing the snake slithering up the exterior of her Goldsboro home and directly across the surface of the camera. “The Ring App told me ‘someone was at my door,’ and when I opened the app, I was shocked to see a snake,” Rene told Ring. “I had a chair on my porch that was set to be picked up and I think it was in there.” Rene said she left her house through the back door and solicited help from a neighbor, but they were unable to locate the snake. She said she sprayed some snake repellent around her door in the hopes of preventing future visits. See the video HERE.

Python Found “Chilling” In Walmart
Animal control officials in Indiana said they were left scratching their heads when a ball python was found “chillin’ on a shelf” at a Walmart store. City of Bloomington Animal Care and Control said in a Facebook post that personnel responded to the Walmart store in Bloomington when a young python was spotted on a shelf. “This young python was found at our local Walmart chillin’ on a shelf. It’s unclear how he got there, but it was a good thing a good Samaritan saw him and notified county officers to come pick him up,” the post said. A follow-up post said the snake, dubbed Wolverine, has been adopted into a new home. The snake’s origins are still under investigation. “We realize snakes can be quite alarming for some and we can imagine finding one in a public space may cause discomfort. We would love to know how our little pal ended up in Walmart, but Wolverine isn’t talking,” Animal Care and Control said.

9 Energy-Efficient Home Improvements That Also Save You Money

- Insulate Your Water Heater
An insulating jacket for your hot water heater will cost $30 or so, and you can install it yourself in about an hour.
According to the experts at the Department of Energy, insulating a hot water tank saves 7% to 16% annually. In other words, assuming the average hot water costs $438 to operate annually, you’ll have $30 to $70 more in your pocket each year. If you’re able to make a bigger up-front investment, you may consider replacing your traditional electric water heater with a heat pump water heater.
Instead of generating heat directly, heat pump water heaters act more like refrigerators in reverse — they pull heat into the device instead of pushing it out. A family of four could save more than $330 per year on its electric bills, compared to a standard electric water heater, according to the DOE. The DOE estimates the cost to switch is approximately $800, so that family of four would start seeing savings after a little over two years.
The Energy Star site has a questionnaire to help you decide if heat pump water heaters are a good fit for your home.
- Install a Programmable Thermostat
You don’t need as much heat when you’re in bed at night, and you don’t need as much heating or air conditioning when you are out of the house. But you don’t want to climb out of bed on a cold winter morning or come home to a hot house in the summer.
A programmable thermostat solves these problems by automatically adjusting the temperature settings for you. Ten minutes before you get up in winter, the heat turns on. Ten minutes before you get home after a hot summer day at work, the air conditioning adjusts to cool the house. You use the heating and cooling only when you actually need them. A programmable thermostat can save you $50 on heating and cooling costs each year, according to the government’s Energy Star program. Starting around $20, many models are simple enough to install on your own.
- Switch Out Your Light Bulbs
Another bright idea for savings? Replacing your light bulbs. Light emitting diode (LED) light bulbs are 90% more efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs and can last up to 20 years.
LEDs used to be expensive for a single bulb, but today, you can get a six-pack of LED bulbs for around $10.

Before starting a home improvement project, check out the DOE’s Energy Star site to find out if the product you need is eligible for a tax credit or rebate.
By using the LEDs throughout your home, you can save about $225 in energy costs per year by replacing incandescent bulbs with LED lighting, according to the EPA’s Energy Star Program.
- Bundle Up Those Water Lines
Bare water lines leak heat, so you have to set the temperature of the hot water heater higher to still get a hot shower at the other end of the house.
Solve this problem with a little pipe insulation: an inexpensive foam tube with a slit down the side. Just cut it to the required length with scissors and push it onto the pipes. This project will take you about three hours for a small home and cost $10 to $15 total, according to the Department of Energy. Each year, you’ll save 3% to 4% heating your water.
- Replace Your Ceiling Fans
Ceiling fans in general can help you save on heating and cooling costs.
In the summer, run the fan blades counterclockwise to generate a cool breeze — thus reducing the need to run the more expensive air conditioning. Running the blades clockwise helps circulate warm air that rises back down into the room, helping cut heating costs in the winter.
You can realize even more savings by replacing your old, inefficient fans with Energy Star certified fans, which are 60% more energy efficient than older models, according to the DOE. (And be sure to use your energy efficient light bulbs in the fixtures.)
- Buy a New Refrigerator
If your refrigerator is working fine, there’s normally no good reason to replace it, even if the new one is a bit more efficient. But if you have a fridge that’s more than 15 years old, it might be time to replace that one.

- Insulate Your Attic
If you run your heater or air conditioner most days, you might save some serious money by adding new insulation to your attic.
Upgrading attic insulation from R-11 to R-49 is something you can do by yourself in a day or two for about $750, according to HouseLogic.com. (The cost is about double if you want professionals to install it.)
You’ll save about $600 per year on heating and cooling costs, depending on where you live and the type of heat you have. It also adds value to your home if you decide to sell in the future.
- Seal Those Air Leaks
Check for cracks or spaces around door frames, windows and entry points for pipes and cables. You lose heat from these gaps during the winter and cool air in the summer, adding to your heating and cooling costs.
It takes about $30 in caulking and peel-and-paste insulating strips to seal these up all over the house.
PRO TIP
If you’re looking to replace an exterior door, a steel or fiberglass door is a more energy efficient option than wood. Some steel doors even have insulated cores, so no need for weatherstripping.
Doing this will cut your heating and cooling costs by an average of 10% to 20%, depending where you live. That’s potentially hundreds of dollars saved for an investment of an afternoon and $30. Not bad, right?
- Replace That Toilet Flapper
If you hear your toilet running when it isn’t being used, you probably have a leaky flapper. It’s not just an annoyance — a leaky flapper can waste 180 gallons of water every week.
You can buy a new flapper valve for under $10, saving you $20 per year.
