Meghan Markle Wins Privacy Battle

Meghan Markle won a privacy battle in a British court on Thursday against a publisher that had made public part of a letter that she’d written to her estranged father three years ago when she married Prince Harry.  The Court of Appeal in London affirmed a High Court ruling in February that said the publisher of The Mail on Sunday and Mail Online violated Markle’s privacy by publishing the letter in 2018.  The legal victory Thursday is the latest development in what’s been a three-year privacy case involving the Duchess of Sussex, who stepped away from royal duties with Harry and ultimately moved to the United States.  The High Court said in its ruling early this year that there was no need for a trial. Publisher Associated Newspapers fought the decision and filed the appeal that was dismissed Thursday.  The judges upheld the ruling and said that Markle had “reasonable expectation of privacy.”  “Those contents were personal, private and not matters of legitimate public interest,” judge Geoffrey Vos said, according to The Guardian.  Markle said that Thursday’s ruling was a victory for “anyone who has ever felt scared to stand up for what’s right.”  The five-page letter Markle wrote to her father Thomas was published by the Mail on Sunday. The publisher argued at the time that it wasn’t obligated to keep the letter private because Markle is a public figure.

Selena Gomez Hits Back About Excessive Drinking

Selena Gomez hit back at a social media user who called the musician out for drinking “excessively” despite previously undergoing a kidney transplant.  She recently shared a TikTok video of herself reacting to Dr. Dawn Bantel, a naturopathic doctor, defining what it medically means to be a “heavy” drinker.  “The [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] defines heavy drinking as 15 or more drinks a week for men and eight or more drinks per week for women,” Bantel said in the video.  Gomez jokingly bit her nails and mouthed “oh” as she heard Bantel discussing the amount of drinks per week men and women could have. She captioned the TikTok, “It’s a joke.”  A TikTok user didn’t seem to take it as a joke as the individual called Gomez out for drinking “excessively.”  “So one of your best friends gives you her kidney and you continue to drink excessively. Damn selena,” the user wrote.  “It was a joke a—,” Gomez responded. The musician has since deleted the comment, according to People magazine.  Gomez first revealed to fans that she had undergone a kidney transplant after the summer of 2017.

Kirsten Dunst Was Told To Fix Her Teeth

In a new video interview for Netflix, Kirsten Dunst recalled “producers wanting to fix [her] teeth” — and revealed that her director pal and longtime collaborator, Sofia Coppola, helped boost her self-esteem.  Looking back at her role in Coppola’s 1999 film “The Virgin Suicides,” Dunst said, “It was the first time I was seen as a beautiful woman, and [to] have it be a female who gave me that … it was very empowering for me at that age in terms of the way I felt about myself and my beauty.”  Dunst, who’d go on to star in 2006’s “Marie Antoinette” and 2017’s “The Beguiled,” appeared in Coppola’s feature directorial debut when she was just 16 years old.  “That’s a weird age,” the actress continued. “She just gave me a lot of confidence that I carried throughout my career in terms of producers wanting to fix my teeth … People just trying to change and manipulate young actresses in a way to make them the same.”  Concluded Dunst, “She made me feel beautiful for who I was, and that was a very pivotal time in my life to feel that way and to be given that.”

Prince Charles and Harry Are Talking Again

Prince Charles has not seen his younger son, Prince Harry, in almost eight months — but they are back on speaking terms again, multiple sources say.  The pair last saw each other in person at Prince Philip’s funeral in April, and Charles — who has spent several days this week in Barbados as it becomes a republic — has yet to meet his granddaughter Lilibet, born in July.  “Charles was hugely hurt when Harry and Meghan just dumped it on the family they were giving up their roles and moving abroad,” a royal insider says, referring to Harry and wife Meghan Markle’s decision to “quit” the family. “I don’t think [Harry and Charles] talked for a good while, but now the channels of communication are open.”  Still, the insider admitted, “I don’t think it’s all roses. It’s not like they are sitting down for a heart-to-heart on the phone once a week.”

Seth Rogen Was Very Stoned During Adele Special

Seth Rogen appeared on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday and discussed how he ended up on the Adele Concert special, which took place at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles and was later broadcast on CBS.  “I was in the front row of the Adele concert,” Rogan recalled. “That is as surprising to me as anyone because I had no idea I was attending the taping of an Adele television special at all.”  Rogen revealed he was “extremely high” during the concert special and had no idea it was going to be a massive TV event.  Rogen, who got an invitation to a “small Adele concert,” asked his wife Lauren if she’d like to come along.  They believed it was an intimate gig in a park, so they smoked a “ton of weed” before being chauffeured to the event.  Upon arrival at Griffith Park, the pair were greeted by a film crew and noticed “camera cranes and drones flying around.”  “The first person I see is Oprah Winfrey!” Rogen exclaimed, adding that he still believed that he and his wife could “slink” into the back.  However, the pair were given tickets 1A and 1B, with a camera pointed “literally” at Rogen’s face.  “We’re not equipped to mentally do this right now,” the weed-loving actor remembered thinking at the time.  He also recalled thinking that “there are so many more famous people here who should be sitting where I’m sitting, and I could feel them being insulted that I had such a good seat.”  Rogen told Fallon: “I was in front of Drake. Like there’s no world where I should be in front of Drake. How was that possible?”
*********Good question!!! It shows a lot of self-awareness!!!
*****Seth Rogen is so stoned, he doesn’t even know what a dick he is!!!

Guy Accidentally Buys 2 Winning Lottery Tickets

A North Carolina man accidentally purchased two identical tickets for the same lottery drawing and ended up winning two prizes of $25,000 a year for life.  Scotty Thomas, of Fayetteville, told North Carolina Education Lottery officials he was thinking about Saturday’s Lucky for Life drawing and couldn’t remember if he’d already bought a ticket.  “I was just lying in bed watching a basketball game on TV, and I couldn’t remember if I filled it out or not,” Thomas said. “I went ahead and filled it out again, and the next morning my son asked why there were two different amounts listed. I realized, ‘I think I filled it out twice.'”  Thomas, who bought both of his $2 tickets online, ended up winning a $25,000 a year for life prize with each ticket.  “When I realized I won, I had to lie down on the floor because I really just couldn’t believe it,” Thomas said. “It’s just a blessing.”  Thomas chose to take both of his prizes as one-time, lump-sum payments — a total payout of $780,000.

Deer Found Wearing Christmas Lights

Wildlife officials in Alberta said a deer spotted wandering with Christmas lights wrapped around its antlers doesn’t appear to be in any immediate distress.  Residents of Okotoks said the deer has been wandering around the town with the strand of lights wrapped around its antlers since at least Nov. 3.  Alberta Fish and Wildlife said officers investigated the reports and determined the deer was still able to forage and find food and water, so they decided not to take any action.  “In order to safely remove the wire, officers would have to physically restrain the deer and/or tranquilize it, which could cause unnecessary physical and mental stress,” Alberta Fish and Wildlife spokeswoman Ina Lucila said in a statement to CTV News. “Officers will continue to monitor the situation and take additional steps if needed for public safety or the deer’s well-being.”  Officials warned residents not to attempt to help the deer themselves, as the animal could become defensive and cause harm to itself or its would-be rescuers.

Loudest Burp

An Australian man broke a decade-old Guinness World Record when he let out a burp measured at 112.4 decibels.  Neville Sharp, of Darwin, Northern Territory, said his wife encouraged him to go for the record, and he spent five years preparing by honing the strength and noise level of his belches.  Sharp said the most difficult part of the record was gathering the proper equipment to accurately measure the volume of his emissions.  Sharp’s record-breaking burp broke the record of 109.9 decibels, which was set in 2009 by Paul Hunn of Britain.  “My reason for attempting to break this record was to be a world record holder. The secondary reason was because the world record has been held by an Englishman for over 10 years,” Neville told Guinness.  See the video HERE.

Just try not to let my tarantula, Axl, loose this time.”  The $25 stay for four guests will also include a screening of Home Sweet Home Alone, the latest film in the franchise, and the new Home Alone Lego set.  The house will be available for booking starting Dec. 7. 7 Toxic Phrases People In Relationships Say Without Realizing It

HUFFINGTON POST

  1. “It’s not a big deal” or “You’ll get over it.”

These kinds of responses may be well-intentioned: You’re trying to help your partner keep things in perspective, hoping they’ll see that whatever they’re going through isn’t earth-shattering in the long term. But these statements can be invalidating to someone who is dealing with an emotionally fraught situation, said Miami-based marriage and family therapist Amanda Baquero. And telling them to “get over it” is only going to make them feel silly for mentioning it in the first place.

“If you want to support your partner during a difficult time, try saying something like, ‘That sounds hard. I can see why you feel that way. We can get through this together,’” she said.

  1. “You’re justlike your father.”

Or mother or sister or brother or whomever. Make no mistake: These are fighting words designed to push your partner’s buttons. Even if your partner was behaving like said person in a given moment, it doesn’t make hurling an insult like this any more fair or appropriate. You’re reducing them to one negative trait or behavior.

“[It’s] irresponsible and punishes your partner for family matters they may have privately shared with you or observations you may have made about their family,” said Los Angeles-based marriage and family therapist Abigail Makepeace. “Also, comments like this can be especially triggering because it usually refers to traits your partner is already aware that they do not like in their parent. It does not lead to change.”

Rather than resorting to these negative blanket statements about your partner and their family, tell them what specific behavior bothered you and make a request for change, Makepeace suggested.

  1. “You always … ” or “You never … ”

This kind of all-or-nothing language is common in moments of frustration but is rarely an accurate assessment of your partner’s behavior. Criticism, often packaged in these “you always” or “you never” statements, automatically puts your partner on the defensive.

“In all the years I’ve done couples therapy, I’ve never met a partner who doesn’t care, doesn’t listen or is guilty of always or never doing X, Y or Z 100% of the time,” Whetstone said. “Talking in absolutes and mischaracterizing your partner in this way succeeds in only one thing: getting them to disregard everything you say after that. It shuts people down when the accusation tossed is flat-out not true.”

Assuming the goal is to have a productive conversation, you’ll need to take a different approach. Be specific about what your partner is doing that’s bothering you at present and focus on how it makes you feel. So instead of saying, “You’re always on your damn phone!” tell them you feel ignored or disconnected when they’re scrolling on Instagram before bed.

“When you choose your words accurately and phrase them in a way that doesn’t sound like finger-pointing, most reasonable humans will listen and work to meet your needs,” Whetstone said.

  1. “You’re doing it wrong. Why can’t you just do it my way?”

It’s easy to get frustrated when your partner does something the “wrong way,” aka differently than you would. It might be something small like the haphazard way they load the dishwasher or pack for a trip, or something bigger, like the way they parent or handle an issue with a family member.

“Phrasing your advice in this way can lead your partner to feel defensive and belittled,” Baquero said. “Next time you can try saying, ‘It seems like you are having a hard time with this. I have an idea that might help. Would you like to hear it?’”

“This approach can help partners feel like they are tackling a task together instead of competing against one another,” she added.

  1. “I am done.”

Going scorched earth with statements like “I’m done” or “I want a divorce” — or even “I hate you” — can do considerable damage, even if you don’t mean them. Getting angry with each other is normal. But lashing out and saying extreme things in the heat of the moment is just unhealthy, Whetstone said.

“What happens is a partner reaches a crescendo of stress, and that is the worst time to talk about your feelings,” Whetstone said. “It’s far better to calm down, then come back and calmly discuss what isn’t working. This is when we can access the better part of our personality.”

Saying drastic things during a fight — like “I want a divorce,” for example — can cut to the core, even if you don’t really mean them.

Whetstone trains her clients to understand that things said in an activated state are often exaggerations that don’t represent how they really feel. But these words can be deeply hurtful nevertheless.

“If they spoke accurately, they’d say something like, ‘In this moment I am so angry with you that I feel like I’m done, but I know that I’m not.’”

  1. “You’re too sensitive.”

When your partner is upset and you brush them off by insisting they’re “too sensitive” or “too emotional,” you’re minimizing their feelings.

“It is not fair for us to decide how someone should feel,” Makepeace said. “Telling someone that their reaction is ‘too’ anything almost never helps.”

Even if you don’t fully understand or agree with their point of view, try not to pass judgment, Makepeace said. A genuine statement like “I can see why that hurt you” can go a long way toward making your partner feel heard.

  1. Not saying anything.

Sometimes silence can be just as damaging as saying the wrong thing. Those who have a tendency to “stonewall” disengage when their partner is trying to have a mature conversation. They may shut down and exit the room, refusing to talk about the issue at hand. This behavior can leave the other partner feeling abandoned and rejected at a moment when emotional connection is needed, Denver psychotherapist Brittany Bouffard said.

“These refusals to stay connected during or after a conflict are like a bomb, often leaving each partner without understanding of why the other is hurt or how to repair,” she said.

This tendency to withdraw is common among those who have an avoidant attachment style, Bouffard noted. (An attachment style is the way we relate to others in intimate relationships.) They feel uncomfortable with too much closeness in the relationship and may check out or look for ways to distance themselves.

Asking your partner for some time to think or cool off is OK, but ignoring your partner or refusing to have difficult conversations altogether is not.

“If you relate, try telling your partner you need a few minutes to tend to yourself but you are willing to come back and talk,” Bouffard said. “Perhaps you have a request, such as more space to share your voice without interruption or to keep the talk focused on a next step rather than the argumentative details.”
