In a Super Bowl halftime press conference Thursday with Mary J. Blige and Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre said their upcoming hip-hop spotlight in the show is overdue. “This should have happened a long time ago,” Dr. Dre said at the NFL press conference on the Super Bowl LVI halftime show. “Hip-hop is the biggest genre on the planet right now, so it’s crazy that it took all of this time for us to be recognized, so we’re going to go on and do a fantastic show, so they can’t deny us in the future.” “And it’s going to keep pushing, we’re going to open more doors for hip-hop artists in the future, and making sure that the NFL understands that this is what it should have been a long time ago…We’re going to show exactly how professional we can be, how dope we can be on stage, and how exciting we’re going to be to the fans.” Mary J. Blige, who the press conference hosts, Nate Burleson and MJ Acosta-Ruiz, referred to as the “queen of hip hop soul,” agreed with him. Prince Charles Gets 2nd Round Of COVID
Prince Charles tested positive for COVID-19 Thursday, marking the second time the British royal has contracted the virus. The news broke in a Twitter post, confirming that the Prince of Wales has canceled appearances on Thursday. He was scheduled to appear in Winchester to unveil a statue. “This morning The Prince of Wales has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating,” the post said. “HRH is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend today’s events in Winchester and will look to reschedule his visit as soon as possible.” Prince Charles was diagnosed with the coronavirus in March 2020, when COVID-19 made its initial spread through Europe. At that time, officials said the royal only experienced “mild symptoms.” It is believed that Prince Charles had not been in contact with Queen Elizabeth II this week. The news of the royal’s condition comes after Queen Elizabeth said it was her “sincere wish” that Duchess Camilla would become queen when Prince Charles becomes king.

Ireland Baldwin Opens Up About “Rude Little Pig” Voicemail
Ireland Baldwin discussed her father Alec Baldwin’s infamous leaked “rude little pig” voicemail while participating in a viral trend. She took to social media on Wednesday where she made a video noting what people in the media like to call her. In addition to bad names like “fat,” “voluptuous,” “promiscuous” and “attention-seeking,” she added “thoughtless little pig.” The comment was of course a reference to the 2007 voicemail message that he left his then 11-year-old daughter in which he called her a “rude, thoughtless little pig” for failing to answer her phone. The ensuing rant has plagued the actor for years and it seems it also stuck with Ireland, who is now 26. In her caption to the video after she reposted it from TikTok to Instagram, Ireland goes into more detail about how negative media scrutiny has impacted her life over the years. “I can’t even tell you how much time I’ve wasted worrying about headlines and comments. Can you believe that? Can you believe how much control we give others and how much power we give their narratives. Maybe you don’t experience this on the scale that I do, but the majority of us have been called names and have had assumptions made about us,” she wrote. Her deeply personal caption continues: “I hardly read articles that come out about me in general but often times when I do, I’m always sexualized in someway or compared to my parents in another. Unfortunately, positivity and good news hardly sells. The media is one giant garbage dump and I could give less of a sh– what they call me…”

Bob Saget Had Skull Fractures
Bob Saget suffered multiple fractures to his skull before his death in January, according to his autopsy report. The report also stated that Saget had bleeding and contusions to his brain and that his death was “the result of blunt head trauma.” “It is most probable that the decedent suffered an unwitnessed fall backwards and struck the posterior aspect of his head,” the report stated, adding, “The manner of death is accident.” The medical examiner also noted that Saget’s respiratory system was “COVID-positive,” but did not clarify that finding. Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, explained last month that the late actor’s recent battle with COVID-19 — which he had revealed on a podcast a few days before his death — was “not anything serious.” Sources told TMZ that he had “an obvious bruise” on the back of his head after his death.

Oscar Attendees Don’t Need Vaccine Proof
The 2022 Academy Awards are just over a month away, and while the night is sure to be unforgettable with surprises and snubs, one thing will not be in the cards: COVID-19 vaccinations. Nominees, presenters and stars will gather on March 27 at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre to celebrate the best and brightest in film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, according to the Hollywood Reporter, will ask attendees to show a negative PCR test or a negative rapid antigen test on the day of the ceremony. This year’s SAG Awards and Critics Choice Awards ceremonies, on the other hand, will both require full vaccination status. The Screen Actors Guild listed its COVID-19 protocols for its awards ceremony on its website, along with the statement, “All ticketed attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination plus booster shot (if eligible), proof of negative lab-based COVID-19 PCR test within 48 hours of event, and negative antigen (rapid) test the day of the event.” The academy mandates that its own employees be vaccinated. And the Oscars ceremony will comply with LA County’s health department mandates, which order that people attending indoor or outdoor “mega events” must be either vaccinated or show a negative test result.

Radio DJs Break Interview Record
A pair of Ohio radio DJs broke a Guinness World Record when they conducted a 25-hour, 35-minute interview on the air. Zachary Sinutko, executive producer of the 808s and Mixtapes show on John Carroll University’s WJCU-FM, and Collin Kennedy, the show’s co-producer, interviewed one another live on the air, and the show was simultaneously streamed live on Instagram and Twitch. The DJs’ on-air conversation lasted for 25 hours and 35 minutes, earning them the Guinness record for longest consecutive radio interview. The previous record was held by Bhanu Bhakta Niraula, a DJ for Himal FM in Kathmandu, Nepal, when he interviewed Nepalese tourism expert Ang Phinjo Sherpa for 25 hours and 26 minutes in November 2021. Body Ends Up Being Mannequin
Police in Malaysia said a reported body wrapped in plastic sheets behind a motorcycle shop turned out to be a discarded mannequin. Police in Shah Alam were summoned to a commercial area on Tuesday when bystanders reported seeing what appeared to be a human body wrapped in plastic sheets behind a motorcycle store. Investigators cordoned off the area and the scene was cleared when officers removed the plastic sheets and determined the reported body was a discarded mannequin. Shah Alam District Police Chief and Assistant Commissioner Baharudin Mat Taib said the case was closed as there was no evidence of criminal acts.

Mazda Car Radios Stuck On NPR Station
Seattle-area drivers of Mazda vehicles from 2014-17 have reported an unusual problem — their radios are stuck on the local NPR station. KUOW-FM, the Seattle-area NPR station, confirmed it had been contacted by multiple Mazda drivers in the area who reported the HD Radio in the Mazda infotainment center of their vehicles was stuck on the station. The drivers said the radio is frozen on the station and the visuals on the dashboard screen are constantly rebooting, causing a visual hazard for some. Many drivers have taken to social media to complain about the issue. All of the affected vehicles appear to be Mazda models from 2014-17. “KUOW is aware of an apparent issue between our signal and some Mazda infotainment systems, causing radios to reboot when they connect to KUOW’s 94.9 FM signal,” the station said in a statement.

Friends Attend Every Super Bowl
Three friends who have attended every Super Bowl are hoping for a memorable contest this year, because it will probably be their final trip to the big game as a group. The three men are all in their 80s and have attended every game since the first AFL-NFL World Championship Game was held 55 years ago about 7 miles from this year’s venue, SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. They are meeting at the game once again this year, but future meetings are in question. Don Crisman, a Maine resident and the eldest of the group at 85, said this is his last game. Gregory Eaton, 82, of Michigan, wants to keep attending but said his health concerns could get in the way. Even Tom Henschel, a football fanatic who spends the cold months in Florida, said Super Bowl LX in 2026 figures to be his last. In recent years they’ve come to grips with the fact it must come to an end one day, said Henschel, 80. “I still think I have a few years left. I’m going to try to make it to 60. But old man age is catching up to all of us,” he said. Crisman and Henschel first met at the 1983 Super Bowl, and Eaton met them decades later in the mid-2010s. Their small club of fans who have been to every Super Bowl has dwindled over the years as other members have aged and passed on.
