Wendy Williams Filming Mystery Project

Wendy Williams was at Fresco by Scotto Tuesday, holding court and filming a new mystery project.  Sources said Williams — who has been lying low since battling health and addiction issues — took the power eatery by storm.  A source says, “Basically it was a regular night . . . and then all of the sudden the Wendy Williams train arrived.”  The insider added, “She had a huge crew that basically turned Fresco by Scotto into a movie set . . . approximately 30 people in the crew. Lights, cameras, audio, producers, etc. [It] looked like a reality show.”  The source continued, “One of the ‘scenes’ was Wendy having dinner with a friend. Wendy came into the dining room with her big personality waving at all the guests, like they were extras in her movie.” “Dinner with the TEAM!” she captioned a video of herself posing for paparazzi outside the restaurant, sharing the clip on her upcoming podcast’s Instagram account. Reps for Williams declined to comment on the new project.

South Park Creators Speak Out On Royal Episode

South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have broken their silence amid the show’s recent mocking of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.  They appeared on Wednesday’s “Basic!” podcast to discuss the cartoon’s legacy and many uproars over the years, just a week after bashing the ex-royals.  They ignited a firestorm of controversy after parodying a privacy-seeking ex-royal couple from Canada in the Feb. 15 episode entitled “The Worldwide Privacy Tour.” The cartoon characters — who claim to want to stay out of the spotlight, but instead go on various talk shows — bore a likeness to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are famously non-private as demonstrated by their Netflix series and Harry’s memoir, “Spare.”  Markle, 41, was said to be “upset and overwhelmed” by the show amid reports she and Harry, 38, could sue “South Park” over the characters who resembled them.  While the pair didn’t address Meghan and Harry directly, the animators said on Wednesday that much of their work has led to them “getting sued” over the course of the animated show’s run.  In the podcast, they spoke directly about the various lawsuits that had been brought down upon them by celebs they teased.  Stone and Parker told the podcast’s hosts Doug Herzog and Jen Chaney that “there are so many [moments] we can’t even remember” when it came to criticism of their animated series.  “It was all coming from the right, we were considered counterculture,” the animators said. “The Catholic League are always on our a-s — it kind of always came from that side.”
********Well, get ready, because the sides have switched. Now it’s the left that has no humor!!!

Oscars To Have A Crisis Team At The Show

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences doesn’t want another incident like Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars, but they are planning for the unexpected.  The Academy’s chief executive officer, Bill Kramer, said there will now be a crisis team on hand at Hollywood’s biggest night, describing it as “something we’ve never had before.”  “We’ve run many scenarios,” he said. “So it is our hope that we will be prepared for anything that we may not anticipate right now but that we’re planning for just in case it does happen.  “Because of last year, we’ve opened our minds to the many things that can happen at the Oscars. But these crisis plans—the crisis communication teams and structures we have in place—allow us to say this is the group that we have to gather very quickly,” Kramer says.  “This is how we all come together. This is the spokesperson. This will be the statement,” he said. “And obviously depending on the specifics of the crisis, and let’s hope something doesn’t happen and we never have to use these, but we already have frameworks in place that we can modify.”
*******Why don’t they follow Congress’s lead and build a fence around the Dolby Theater???

R Kelly Gets Additional Sentence

A federal judge in Chicago sentenced R. Kelly on Thursday to one additional year in prison on top of the 30 years he’s already serving for a New York conviction, ending a battle over his sexual abuse of women and girls.  U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber gave Kelly 20 years, but said 19 of those could be served at the same time as his sentence for a federal racketeering conviction in New York. One year is to be served after the New York sentence is completed.  Kelly is now 56 and could be locked up until he’s in his late 70s.  “No matter what I do, Mr. Kelly isn’t going out the door after today,” Leinenweber said. “He’s not going out the door in the next 10 years, he’s not going out the door in the next 20 years.  “Bear in mind he’s 56 years old. And as [his attorney Jennifer] Bonjean points out, he has a life expectancy of not a hell of a lot more — 8, 10 years,” the judge added.  Prosecutors had sought to add as much as 25 years to Kelly’s prison time.  But the judge noted how old Kelly will be when he leaves prison and said he did not believe Kelly would continue to be a threat.
*****Crap!! He had big plans for 30 years from now!! Now he has to wait one more year!!

South Park Trashes Harry & Megan-(In Touch)

Doh!  Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were ripped to shreds on the Feb. 15 episode of South Park.  The story follows the Prince and Princess of Canada-clearly the Duke and Duchess of Sussex-as they travel the world pleading for privacy while only drawing more attention to themselves.  When the pair finally settle in South Park (which is no Montecito), the locals are outraged.  Cries Kyle, “They have this huge jet parked in front of my house and they keep on wanting me to buy their book”-which is hilariously titled Waaagh!

Newlyweds Stuck In Elevator

A pair of North Carolina newlyweds and members of their wedding party have a memorable story to tell after they had to be rescued from a hotel elevator.  Panav and Victoria Jha said they were celebrating after their Saturday ceremony when their elevator at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Charlotte stopped between floors.  “We go up maybe five feet and then just stopped,” Panav Jha told WBTV. “The door was slightly ajar, so I was like, ‘Hmm, that’s not normal.'”  The Charlotte Fire Department responded to the scene and soon discovered the situation was different from their usual elevator rescue calls.  “We went through all of the normal troubleshooting that you do on an elevator call and none of that was working, so that’s when we realized we were going to elevate it to what it ended up being, what was a rope rescue,” firefighter David Budd said.  The firefighters lowered a rope from the next floor up and had to rescue the bride, groom and wedding party one at a time.  The couple said they were freed from the elevator after about 2 1/2 hours.  See the video HERE.

Giant Orb Washes Ashore In Japan

Japanese authorities are investigating the origins of a mysterious iron ball that washed up on a Hamamatsu City beach.  The orb, which measures nearly 5 feet in diameter, prompted police to close off Enshu beach out of fears it could be a mine or other explosive device, but an X-ray of the ball determined it was hollow.  Two raised handles on the surface of the ball led to speculation it could be a mooring buoy that came loose and floated away from its intended location.  Police said the Japanese military and coast guard are reviewing photos of the object in an attempt to identify it.  See the video HERE.

Man Selling “CASH” License Plate

A California man who has had a customized license plate reading “CASH” registered in his name since 1970 is now selling the plate with an asking price of $2 million.  Claude Arthur Stuart Hamrick, 83, a retired San Jose patent lawyer, is offering the rights to his vanity plate for sale via website PlateBroker.com.  Hamrick said his license plate has read “CASH” since 1970.  “Every time I traded cars, the dealers tried to buy it from me. Every car dealer in San Jose wanted that plate,” Hamrick told the San Jose Mercury News. “I told them I wouldn’t sell it for a million dollars.”  Hamrick is sticking with that statement, asking for $2 million.  License plate rights have made for lucrative sales in the past. Delaware, a state where low-numbered license plates are highly sought-after, saw a plate featuring the number 20 sell for $410,000 in 2018.

Dead Florida Man Was Actually Alive!

Two paramedics with the Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department were suspended after a man they pronounced dead last week was found to be breathing.  The agency said two medics from Station 47 responded to a home in an unincorporated area of Pinellas County Wednesday morning after Thomas Maxwell reportedly suffered cardiac arrest.  “His lips were blue and he was cold but I was doing CPR, and my friend was there and she was doing chest compressions,” said his daughter, Phebe Maxwell told WFLA. “His chest was going up and down and he was making noises, so his lungs were working.”  When the medics arrived, Phebe said they quickly checked her dad’s wrist for a pulse and told them he was gone.  “I’m like ‘He’s still breathing!’” Phebe recalled. “He’s like ‘No ma’am, he’s gone, those are just his body releasing gases.’”  After the medics left, a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputy went to the home to investigate Maxwell’s “death” and noticed he was still breathing.  Largo Fire Rescue crews were then called to the home and Maxwell was rushed to the hospital.  “Upon notification of this incident, we immediately removed both fire medics from their normal duties and discontinued their abilities to provide patient care, in conjunction with the county’s medical director,” Clearwater Fire Chief Scott Ehlers said in a statement to News Channel 8.  The two medics who initially responded to the call were placed on administrative duty and were clinically suspended by the Pinellas County EMS Medical Director’s Office. Both the medical director’s office and Clearwater Fire & Rescue are looking into the incident.

Cardiologists Share The 1 Food They Never (Or Rarely) Eat

Huffington Post

Chopped liver

Some of us wrinkle our noses at the thought of eating chopped liver, while others absolutely love it. If you fall into the former category, you’re in luck. Dr. Eleanor Levin, a cardiologist at Stanford University, says she never eats liver.  “Liver is a red meat that’s extremely high in fat,” Levin said. “In general, I avoid red meat because it’s very high in saturated fat and trans fats, and in addition to being bad for the heart, saturated fat can provoke osteoporosis. Liver is especially bad because it’s also the organ that filters out toxins, so any toxins are typically just sitting there. I used to eat chopped liver when I was a kid, but I haven’t since I became a cardiologist.”

Breakfast sausages

Sad, but true: Dr. Elizabeth Klodas, a cardiologist based in Minneapolis, said she avoids breakfast sausages at all costs.  “These are high in sodium (promoting higher blood pressure) and a rich source of saturated fats, which raise cholesterol readings,” Klodas said. “Plus, because we only have so much room in our stomachs, foods like breakfast sausages can displace other items that might be more health-promoting.”  Klodas noted that all processed meats, including sausages, ham and bacon, have been classified as carcinogens by the World Health Organization.

Margarine

If you’re still eating fake butter, it’s time to stop, because margarine is just flat-out bad for you.  “Margarine seems like a great idea in theory, but it turns out to be just as bad as butter,” said Dr. Harmony Reynold, a cardiologist at NYU Langone Health. “A study found that with each tablespoon of margarine per day, people were 6% more likely to die over the median 16 years of the study. Olive oil is better, and each tablespoon of olive oil was associated with a 4% lower risk of death. With that in mind, I tell my patients to use olive oil whenever possible, even for cooking eggs, or toast. When nothing but the taste of butter will do, it’s still better to use mostly olive oil with a skinny pat of butter for flavor.”

Steak

Sorry, steak lovers, but this is another food you should probably avoid most of the time.

“I avoid really fatty red meat, like highly marbleized steak, because it’s very high in saturated fat,” Dr. Leonard Lilly, the chief of cardiology at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, said. “Clinical studies have shown that saturated fat consumption is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes.”  Lilly noted that most people can get away with eating small amounts of almost anything on rare occasions, so he’s guilty of the occasional steak.

Bacon

You were waiting for this one, right? Dr. Francoise Marvel, a cardiologist at Johns Hopkins University, said she typically avoids this salty, delicious breakfast delicacy.  “Bacon is an example of highly processed red meat that is high in saturated fat and increases the bad cholesterol — called low-density lipoprotein LDL — which is linked to increased risk of heart attack and stroke,” Marvel said. “The way bacon is processed is through ‘curing’ the pork, which usually involves adding salts, sugars and nitrates. The large amounts of salt (or sodium) used in this processing may increase blood pressure and fluid retention, causing the heart to work harder to pump blood through the body. Increased blood pressure, or hypertension, is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease as well.”  Chemicals added to the meat, like nitrates, have been linked to cancer and other health problems, Marvel added.  “It should be noted there is a varying amount of processing and ingredients used by different bacon manufacturers,” Marvel said. “But overall, to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and other health problems, limiting the intake of processed red meat like bacon is beneficial.”

Next time you order breakfast, Marvel suggests swapping two slices of bacon for two slices of avocado. Your heart will thank you.

Deep-fried chicken

Fried chicken may be a trendy menu item these days, but it isn’t great for your heart.  “The one food that I rarely eat is deep-fried chicken,” said Dr. Sanjay Maniar, a cardiologist based in Houston. “Regularly eating fried foods will increase your risk of heart disease and stroke by increasing the amount of saturated and trans fats in the body.”  These unhealthy fats can raise LDL (bad cholesterol) and lower HDL (good cholesterol) levels, which serve as the building blocks for fatty buildup (atherosclerosis) in the blood vessels of the body, Maniar said.

“You can get great flavor by adding fresh herbs and grilling or baking chicken rather than deep frying it,” Maniar said. “You’ll keep the taste, but save the calories.”

Doughnuts

Many doughnuts are fried in oils that contain trans fats, which makes them hard on your heart, according to Dr. Jayne Morgan, a cardiologist based in Atlanta.  “Trans fats raise cholesterol levels and blood sugar, contributing to Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke,” Morgan said. “Trans fats are often ‘disguised’ on labels as partially hydrogenated oils, so read your labels and avoid them.”  Still, not all doughnuts are fried in oils that contain trans fats. Dunkin’, for example, fries its doughnuts in palm oil, which is free of trans-fat. Palm oil does contain saturated fat, which isn’t great for your heart when consumed in excess — so make sure you’re eating doughnuts in moderation.

Bologna

Maybe the last time you ate bologna was when you were in third grade, or maybe it’s still part of your diet. In any case, it’s probably best to skip it, according to Dr. James Udelson, chief of cardiology at Tufts Medical Center.  “In some ways, bologna is a symbol in that it incorporates many things that should generally be avoided, including highly processed meats, which are very high in salt content and associated with risk of cardiovascular disease down the line,” Udelson said. “It is important to note that the key to dietary heart health is following the American Heart Association’s recommended Mediterranean-style diet, which is high in vegetables, whole grains, fish and some lean meats, nuts and legumes.  If you eat any of these foods once in a while, you’ll be fine. After all, who can pass up the occasional slice of bacon and a fresh doughnut? But do as these cardiologists suggest — avoid them when you can.
