Jessica Simpson Was Seduced By A Big Hollywood Star

Back when Jessica Simpson was a young singer and reality star, she was pursued by “a massive movie star” who wooed her, pursued her — and tried to seduce her.  She tells all (except for the star’s name) in a new short story she’s written for Amazon Original StoriesMovie Star, out Wednesday. A story of late nights at the Chateau, private planes, big egos and big little lies. “They always say they’re single,” she writes. But in the end, a story of self-discovery.  “This is a very personal story and I really thought I would never share it!” Simpson tells PEOPLE. Writing it down, she says, brought back memories of her fast track to worldwide fame. “The whole period was very surreal,” she says. “There were times I had a lot of fun, don’t get me wrong! But a lot of the time it felt isolating because I am someone who likes to deeply connect with people and I didn’t know who was trustworthy and who was not.”  Looking back, she says, “I learned you can’t always take people at their very persuasive word — seems obvious but it really isn’t when you are dealing with someone who sells it so well.” And she came away with a life lesson or two.

Stallone’s Family Docuseries Gets Release Date

Paramount+ announced that the new eight-part docuseries The Family Stallone — starring Sylvester Stallone, wife Jennifer Flavin Stallone and daughters Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet — will premiere this spring.  Additionally, the network released a Super Bowl spot that features Stallone and his three daughters climbing the “mountain of entertainment.”  “Okay, this mountain has three faces,” Dora the Explorer tells a group of characters from various shows that are available to stream on Paramount+. “The northern face, the southern face, and…”  “The Sylvester Stallone face,” Reno 911! star Thomas Lennon says while looking up at a mountain, literally, with Stallone’s face carved in it.  “Who’s crazy enough to climb that?” Star Trek: Lower Deck character Beckett Mariner (voiced by Tawny Newsome) asks, before noticing Stallone free-climbing the mountain.  “Is that dad,” Stallone’s daughter Scarlett asks.  “He always does this,” his other daughter Sophia says.  As Stallone hangs from the mountain, his giant mountain face sneezes, making Stallone fall to the ground.  “He’s fine,” Sophia says.  “He does this,” Sistine says. “This is normal.”  See the video HERE.

Serena Williams Opens Up About Will Smith Slap

Serena Williams opened up about the now-infamous moment that took place shortly before Will Smith won the 2022 Oscar for best actor in King Richard.  Serena Williams stopped by CBS Mornings for a conversation with Gayle King about her business ventures, family and her Florida farm.  During their chat, King showed Williams a sweet video of her father coaching her as a child and then segued into “that moment at the Oscars,” asking the tennis star how she felt about the situation, without specifically mentioning the Slap.  “I thought it was such an incredible film, and I feel that there was an incredible film after that with Questlove that kind of was overshadowed,” Williams began. “But I also feel that I’ve been in a position where I’ve been under a lot of pressure and made a tremendous amount of mistakes, and I’m the kind of person that’s like, ‘I’ve been there. I’ve made a mistake. It’s not the end of the world.’”  She concluded, “We’re all imperfect, and we’re all human, and let’s just be kind to each other. So, that’s often forgotten a lot.”

Keanu Reeves Gets Restraining Order

Keanu Reeves has been granted a temporary restraining order against a man who claims that he is related to the actor.  His lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, submitted paperwork to a Los Angeles court on Tuesday to seek protection for Reeves and his partner, Alexandra Grant, against a man they claim has “been harassing them for months,” according to TMZ.  Bryan Keith Dixon, the 38-year-old man in question, reportedly trespassed onto the actor’s $5.6 million Hollywood Hills property six times between Nov. 5 and Jan. 20.  According to court docs seen by the outlet, Dixon attempted to make contact with him each time.  It went as far as Reeves having to hire a private security team to investigate the alleged intruder, who has been sharing several posts on social media in which he claims to be the actor’s blood relative.  In his bizarre social media posts, Dixon called himself “Jasper Keith Reeves” and said he wants to put the actor “in charge” of him, per TMZ.  He also said he wants to assign his “personal rights” to the actor, the outlet adds.

“The Crown” Co-Star Says Show Should End

Helena Bonham Carter has called for an end to Netflix’s hit show “The Crown.”  She starred as Queen Elizabeth II’s younger sister Princess Margaret in seasons 3 and 4, and claims the show strayed away from its roots and is no longer a historical drama.  “I should be careful here too, but I don’t think they should carry on, actually,” she told The Guardian.  “I’m in it and I loved my episodes, but it’s very different now. When ‘The Crown’ started it was a historic drama, and now it’s crashed into the present.”  Bonham Carter took over the reins from Vanessa Kirby, who portrayed the late monarch’s sister in the show’s first two seasons.  She passed the baton to Lesley Manville for Season 5, which centered around the tumultuous marriage — and divorce — of Princess Diana (played by Elizabeth Debicki) and the now-monarch King Charles III (Dominic West). The season premiered in November.  In 2020, Bonham Carter rallied for the show to add a disclaimer to let viewers know that it’s historical fiction and not entirely factual.  “It is dramatized. I do feel very strongly, because I think we have a moral responsibility to say, ‘Hang on guys, this is not … it’s not a drama-doc, we’re making a drama.’ So they are two different entities,” she said on an episode of the show’s official podcast, according to The Guardian.

Kid Goes On Grubhub Spending Spree

Six-year-old Mason Stonehouse was playing on his dad’s phone before bedtime and spent about $1,000 on Grubhub orders. The food started coming to the Chesterfield Township family’s home near Detroit around 9 pm Saturday night. And it kept coming.  The Stonehouse family’s Ring camera footage shows delivery after delivery coming to the door. Mason’s dad, Keith, was bewildered – until he figured out what happened.   “I said, ‘What is going on? Why are you bringing me food?” his perplexed dad asked a food delivery driver according to an interview with CNN affiliate WDIV-TV. It finally clicked with him that he let his son use his phone earlier that night, telling the TV station that Mason was “going to town” with the Grubhub app.  Mason ordered basically every food that ever existed, including shrimp, salads, shawarma, chicken pita wraps, sandwiches, chili cheese fries and multiple orders of ice cream. So much food was ordered that Keith’s bank sent him a fraud alert declining a $400 order of pizza.  His father tried calling the restaurants to stop the orders once he figured out what had happened, but they told him to contact Grubhub. The leftover food was shared with neighbors and eaten as leftovers.

Groundhog Makes Prediction

Punxsutawney Phil has spoken: Six more weeks of winter await us.  The groundhog took his position for the 137th time in Gobblers Knob Thursday.  Phil’s “inner circle” summoned him from his tree stump to learn if he saw his shadow. According to folklore, there will be six more weeks of winter if he sees his shadow. If he doesn’t, spring comes early.  Thousands came out dark and early to see Phil make his weather prediction. That means good business for the small town in Jefferson County.  “We have 6,000 people that live here and it swells to 20 or 30,000,” said Punxsutawney Chamber of Commerce President Katie Laska. “You can just imagine the impact that it has on our economy here.”  According to records dating back to 1887, Phil has predicted winter more than 100 times. Ten years were lost because no records were kept, organizers said.

Penis Found At Gas Station

A severed human penis discovered in an Alabama gas station parking lot is believed to have belonged to a motorcyclist who died in a traffic accident early Monday, authorities said.  The fatal accident happened around 6 a.m. Monday in the eastbound lanes of I-10 between I-65 and Dauphin Island Parkway near Mobile, the Mobile Police Department confirmed.  “The deceased was riding a motorcycle and lost control and fell off,” a police spokesperson said. “Unfortunately, multiple vehicles struck him.”  “The appendage located at the gas station is not related to a murder or an assault,” the spokesperson said.  Police said the victim, whom they identified as 29-year-old Christopher Means, was found in the middle lane of eastbound I-10. Responding officers pronounced him dead at the scene.  Police said only one vehicle remained at the scene and that officers are searching for the drivers of the other vehicles.  While police did not detail how it arrived at the gas station, local reports say that surveillance video appeared to show it fall from a truck that had stopped to get fuel.

The Rudest Things Dinner Guests Do, And How To Handle It Like A Pro

HUFFINGTON POST

It’s all about setting boundaries.

Are you a subtle signaler? Do you hope your hinting and facial expressions will change others’ behavior? Or worse, do you not say anything out of fear of being impolite?  According to Tina Alvarado, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Seattle, we often struggle in these scenarios, as they require us to set boundaries. (Boundaries are communicating to other people what is or isn’t acceptable with you.)  “There are many reasons someone would struggle to communicate their boundaries,” Alvarado said. “Most often, it is because they learned that it is impolite to do so, especially to a guest.”  If you’re a boundary beginner or new to asserting yourself, Alvarado suggested walking through potential scenarios before your event.

“You may feel silly practicing scenarios in your head or out loud, but just like any new skill, communicating boundaries takes practice,” Alvarado told HuffPost. “If you know someone in your family always seems to cross the line, you can prepare yourself for common scenarios like these that might come up.”  Creating a warm and convivial environment for guests is part of your job as the host, and if one person is threatening that, it’s impolite not to address the situation.  Take this tip on discretion from Jodi R.R. Smith, an etiquette consultant and author of three books on modern manners based in Boston: “If a host is concerned about confronting a rude guest, the host can do so without embarrassing the guest by asking the guest to ‘help in the kitchen’ and having the conversation away from prying ears.”

Scenario 1: The guest who makes rude or inappropriate comments.

It’s typically not a surprise when your disruptive guest (we all have one in our family or friend group) begins their soliloquy on “women these days” or all their other inappropriate opinions, so head off these remarks before your event.  “Take time before your event to talk to them about your expectations of their behavior during the event,” Juulia Karlstedt, an accredited counselor specializing in anxiety management in Edinburgh, suggested. “Be clear about the consequences of engaging in inappropriate or combative conversation. And if they do engage in the behavior during the event, follow through on those consequences. Pull the guest aside, keep your tone neutral, and hold the boundary you set.”

In the moment, try changing the topic of conversation to diffuse any conflict, ignore the remark and choose a more neutral topic. Smith suggested this script: ”Let’s leave that for the politicians to argue. Where are you spending the holidays?”  To minimize the chance of awkward conversations or one rude person dominating, hosts should prepare conversation starters or parlor games to keep the night fun and festive, Smith suggested.  “As a guest, you should arrive at the event with some interesting tidbits and stories to share,” Smith said. “When someone asks ‘What’s new?’ you should have an answer at the ready. ‘Oh nothing’ or ‘same old’ is a conversation killer.”

Scenario 2: The guest who won’t leave.

″Growing up, my best friend’s grandfather would go upstairs to put on his pajamas, slippers and robe. Then he would call down from the top of the stairs, ‘Thank you all for coming! It is time for me to sleep and you to go home.’ This worked well for a lovely and avuncular gentleman, but won’t work for most hosts,” Smith said.  If changing into your jammies is a step too far for you, winding-down activities like tidying up, stopping the music and turning on the lights is a great way to signal to guests that the party has ended. Guests who don’t (or won’t) take the hint may need a more direct approach.

Try this script from Alvarado: ”Gosh, it’s so late, I’m getting sleepy. I’m going to have to call it a night,” or “I’ve had such a great time with you tonight, but it’s time for you all to head home. I’m really looking forward to the next time we do this. Let me walk you out.”  When sending out invites, consider letting guests know your event’s start and end time to prevent misunderstandings. ″A lot of issues with boundaries come from us assuming other people can read out hints, but if someone isn’t picking up on subtle cues, they may need you to be very clear and non-ambiguous about the fact the party is over,” Karlstedt said.

Scenario 3: The guest who drinks too much.

’Tis the holiday party season, and your event may be the second (or third) in a night of festivities, meaning your guests could be buzzed and rowdy by the time they arrive.

Depending on where you live, the party’s host can be held liable if your inebriated guest injures someone else. Your best bet could be to send them home or offer to let them sleep it off in a guest room, according to Smith.  “If they are not agreeable, you will need to enlist the aid of some strong friends to assist the guest into a taxi or ride service home,” Smith said, advising a sendoff like: “Sweetie! It is so lovely to see you. We can tell you have already had quite a bit of fun this evening. Here we go; your carriage awaits! We will have to catch up more later this week.”  Another option is to take the guest aside and talk to them (depending on how intoxicated they are) about the next steps, whether asking them to limit their alcohol for the rest of the evening or eat some food.  “Remember, it is your house or event, and you can decide what you deem acceptable and nonacceptable behavior,” Karlstedt said. “If a guest is not engaging with you, see if you can engage the help of a second person and be very clear about what will happen if the guest continues to not cooperate with you.”

If your guest overserves themself at your function, offer a nonalcoholic drink or a glass of water.   It’s not your job to monitor others’ drinking habits, but if their behavior is becoming uncomfortable or dangerous, you should step in, Alvarado said. Try this script: ”Whew! Seems like you’re really feeling it already. You might want to slow down. Have you tried sparkling cider? It’s delicious!”
