Chrissy Teigen Still Dealing With Bullying Scandal

Chrissy Teigen says she feels “lost” and depressed after being “canceled” over her bullying scandal.  She discussed her mental health in an Instagram post Wednesday after facing criticism for her past tweets about television personality Courtney Stodden.  Teigen was accused of cyberbullying after her remarks about Stodden resurfaced in May. Teigen publicly apologized at the time, saying, “I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be. I was an insecure, attention seeking troll.”  In her post Wednesday, Teigen said she is struggling as she takes time away from public life and communication with fans.  “Going outside sucks and doesn’t feel right, being at home alone with my mind makes my depressed head race. But I do know that however I’m handling this now isn’t the right answer,” she said. “I feel lost and need to find my place again, I need to snap out of this.”  “I desperately wanna communicate with you guys instead of pretending everything is okay,” she added. “I’m not used to any other way!!”  Teigen said she has learned “a wholllllle lot” since joining the “cancel club.”  “Only a few understand it and it’s impossible to know til you’re in it. And it’s hard to talk about it in that sense because obviously you sound whiney when you’ve clearly done something wrong,” the model said. “It just sucks. There is no winning. But there never is here anyhow.”

Joe Exotic To Be Re-Sentenced

An appeals court has ordered for Joe Exotic of Netflix’s series “Tiger King” fame to be re-sentenced on Wednesday after he appealed his 22-year prison sentence as too long.  Exotic, who was born Joseph Maldonado-Passage, was sentenced to 264 months’ imprisonment in January 2020 when a court found him guilty of 21 charges, most stemming from wildlife charges concerning his care for big cats that he held in captivity.  Two of the charges were in connection to his murder-for-hire plot to kill animal rights activist Carole Baskin.  The three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit in Denver, Colo., in a court document filed Wednesday said it affirms Maldonado-Passage’s conviction and that the court acted within its discretion by allowing Baskin to witness the entire trial. However, it did err by not grouping the two murder-for-hire convictions together, the court said.  “We affirm the conviction but vacate the sentence and remand for re-sentencing,” the judges said.  The court agreed with Maldonado-Passage that the two charges should have been grouped together as they involve the same victim with the common criminal objective of her murder.

Meghan and Harry To Do Animated Series

Meghan and Prince Harry’s second Netflix project will focus on a 12-year-old girl’s adventures in an animated series.  Their Archewell Productions announced that the working title “Pearl” will be developed for the streaming service. Meghan created the idea of the family-focused animated series, which was inspired by a variety of women from history.  Meghan will serve as an executive producer with filmmaker David Furnish, who worked as a producer on “Rocketman” and “Sherlock Gnomes.”  “Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges,” Meghan said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix, and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history.”

Alexa To Feature Celebrity Voices

Users of Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa can choose to have the device speak in the voices of Shaquille O’Neal and Melissa McCarthy. Bypassing the default robot voice to have the basketball legend or two-time Oscar nominee tell you the weather, play your songs or read poems costs $4.99 each.   The pair join “Pulp Fiction” star Samuel L. Jackson as alternative voice options for devices.  “I just wanted to add my personality to the Alexa experience,” O’Neal, 49, told Variety of his decision to lend his audio likeness to the voluntary wiretap. “I think the fans are gonna love it. They’re going to see a unique side of me.”  McCarthy offered a similarly earnest comment regarding giving voice to the AI-based recording and instructional device.   “That’s right folks, get ready for the vocal stylings of this nasal Midwestern gal!” she said in a statement provided to Variety by Amazon. “I am so excited to join the Alexa family. It’s been such a fun experience working on this project. I hope you all enjoy all my dad jokes! Fun fact — if you hear a slide whistle, it’s my personal one that I brought with me to the recording studio!”  Training the domestic robot device to imitate occasional rapper O’Neal took approximately 60 hours, said Amazon, which built a recording studio in O’Neal’s house for the audio venture.   “It was like reading out of the dictionary,” O’Neal reflected on the experience. While the machine only required 2½ days to fully adopt the NBA Hall of Famer’s audio equivalence, he called the process “the most difficult thing I’ve ever done.”

Kim K Suffers From Anxiety After Robbery

Kim Kardashian experienced agoraphobia during quarantine stemming from her terrifying 2016 Paris robbery.  She said her trauma resurfaced during the COVID-19 pandemic.  “We had just gone to Paris. We had just started traveling, and then quarantine happened. Now I’m, like, such a freak all over again and never want to, like, leave [home],” she said in a newly released bonus clip from “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”  She recalled feeling that way in the immediate aftermath of her robbery.  “I feel like I had agoraphobia, definitely, after my robbery in Paris,” she told sister Khloé Kardashian in the clip. “Like, definitely would stay in, hated to go out, I didn’t want anyone to know where I was or be seen. I just had such anxiety.”  Her “high anxiety” also returned during the pandemic, when she and now-estranged husband Kanye West went out in public for the first time.  “I was so freaked out. People were trying to come up to Kanye and, like, talk to him and, like, come up to me and ask for photos,” she said of leaving her multimillion-dollar compound to go to dinner at Nobu Malibu.  “I was just, like, absolutely not. I would stop people, like, ‘Get away. This is my first time out, I’m not comfortable with you coming a step closer.’ … I don’t get even remotely, unless [fans] have a selfie stick and want to do it six feet away. That was, like, high anxiety on another level.”
******We’re checking our feelings… any sympathy?? Nope!!!

Kanye Sues Walmart!-(Life & Style)

As the Kardashian sisters continue to clash, Kanye is fighting with Walmart.  On June 24, the rapper-designer filed a lawsuit against the retail giant in Los Angeles County Superior Court claiming the company’s website has been selling cheap $25 to $35 knockoffs of his Yeezy Foam Runners, which retailed for $75 upon their 2020 release and now have a reported resale value of $250 to $800.  In his legal filing, Kanye alleges that Walmart could be costing him “hundreds of millions of dollars” in sales since the look-alike cheaper version of the shoe can be confused with the real-deal Yeezys.

Woman Finds 18 Snakes Under Her Bed

A Georgia woman investigating what she initially believed to be a piece of fuzz on her bedroom floor made a far more startling discovery — 18 snakes under her bed.  Trish Wilcher said she was in her bedroom in her family’s Augusta home when she spotted something on the floor.  “Before going to bed, I spotted what I thought was a piece of fuzz on the floor, went to reach for it and it moved,” Wilcher told WJBF-TV.  Wilcher and her husband, Max, soon discovered the “fuzz” was a baby snake — and there were 16 more babies underneath the bed, along with their mother.  Wilcher posted photos of the snake family on Facebook.  “I may need a cardiologist after this,” she wrote on the social media site.  Max Wilcher used a grabber tool to pick up each snake and placed them in a bag. The Wilchers released the snakes at a nearby creek.

Embarrassed Raccoon Caught

Firefighters in Georgia responded to a home where an “embarrassed” raccoon had found its way inside and appeared unable to locate an exit.  The City of Dalton Fire Department said a crew was summoned to a Dalton home Monday on a report of a raccoon that came inside and refused to leave.  “We were called out to help this guy find his way back out of a house in Dalton Monday night,” the department said in a Facebook post.  The post included a photo of the raccoon using a paw to cover its face in a gesture reminiscent of embarrassment.  “As you can tell, he was pretty embarrassed about it, but it’s really nothing to be ashamed of. We all need a helping hand every now and then,” firefighters wrote.  See the video HERE.

Home Cleaner Cleans Wrong House

A New Jersey man who cleans homes to supplement his income shared the story of how he accidentally went to the wrong townhouse — and left it spotless.  Louis Angelino III said he works a regular job at a liquor store, but lately he has been cleaning homes for friends to make extra money.  Angelino, who detailed the saga in a TikTok video, said he was due to clean a home for a friend named Mark in Cherry Hill, and he arrived to find the key in the expected place under the doormat.  He spent 2 1/2 hours cleaning the townhouse and was playing with the cats when Mark called to ask if he had been able to clean his home.  “I said ‘I’m literally in your living room right now playing with your cats and waiting for you to walk in,’ and he was like ‘Louis, I don’t have any cats,'” Angelino told NJ.com.  “In that moment, I froze. My heart dropped. I was just like, ‘Where am I right now? What is going on?'”  Angelino said he realized he had written down Mark’s address incorrectly. He said the address was off by a single digit.  Mark arrived home and left a note for his neighbors explaining what happened. Beth Motzel said her husband, Tom, arrived home first and called her.  “He said, ‘You won’t believe it. Someone broke in our house and cleaned the entire thing, he said Swiffer and all,'” Beth Motzel told WCBS-TV.  Motzel said she and her husband were amused by the mix-up.

Before You Leave A Nasty Yelp Review, Here’s What Restaurant Workers Want You To Know

Huffington Post

Step back and try talking to someone first

“Before you write [a negative] review, talk to somebody at the restaurant, or at the business, right then and there. And if you can’t because management is busy, sometimes it’s just better to cool off before you have a conversation that might be very negative. Call the next day before the restaurant opens, when the prep is happening. That’s probably the best time to get somebody before the craziness of the day, before all this stress piles up, and have a conversation then before you write a post. Because you might get information about the previous day that might [change your perspective].” ― Neomi Negron, owner of Buggy Pops in Asheville, North Carolina

“What is helpful is if someone emails me and says, ‘Hey, this has been my experience and it wasn’t great,’ and then I can go back and really critically look at it and fix it, whether it’s a staffing issue or a flavor issue, which it rarely is. So if someone emails me, then I take it more seriously. If someone’s just complaining on Yelp, I tend to not take it that seriously.” ― Erika Thomas, owner of High Point Creamery in Denver

Show compassion

“I think we have to all give one another some grace ― the restaurant and hospitality world was so negatively impacted by the pandemic, and so many decades-old restaurants shuttered, and thousands of people lost their jobs. Many people got sick or had loved ones that got sick. Everyone is trying to return to whatever the next normal is despite all this hardship, and we really should treat one another with more kindness and forgiveness.” ― Maldonado

Be specific — even when you’re leaving a positive review

“One of the biggest compliments right now is when people make name mentions. At any point in your meal, you could have four different people touching your table. So for somebody that comes in and dines with us to remember your name, it’s pretty awesome. It speaks a lot to our passion and our caliber of service. So when a guest says, ‘This person took care of me, and they were great,’ it shows that we’re doing our job well.” ― Alexa Delgado, a bartender at an Orlando, Florida, resort

Remember that the people working in the restaurant want to help you

“I just implore that people just are kind and understanding, and if we’re telling you no, there’s probably a reason for it. It’s not just because we want to be nasty. There’s a reason we are servers and bartenders and wait staff. We want to take care of you. That is our calling. That is what we’re good at. I take a lot of pride when I have a guest leave saying this is the best experience. We’re going to come back. That’s a huge compliment. Of all the places you can eat right now, you’re coming here again. When a guest says we’re not accommodating, it’s like we want to. We can’t. We physically cannot.” ― Delgado

Recognize that restaurants are still hurting from the pandemic and it isn’t over yet

“The industry is still reeling. We haven’t survived the pandemic and the pandemic isn’t over. Sales are down but our rent, bills and supplies continue to increase in cost. The money we spent on COVID pivots, new infrastructure and safety protocols hasn’t been recuperated. Most restaurants will take years to get out from under the debt they acquired this year. Diners’ habits have changed, maybe forever. The demographics of our neighborhoods have changed; lots of restaurants are having to start building new regulars from scratch. And staffing is extremely difficult because so many people left the industry. Some of our workers died in the pandemic. More line cooks died from COVID than any other profession. Restaurants will continue to fail for the next two years due to all these hardships.” ― Will Emery, co-owner and chef of Tannat in Manhattan.

Not everything is in a restaurant’s control and writing it in a review can cause damage

“Our cost of goods and most other uncontrollable food items have increased 30-50%. I can’t help it that wings were in short supply, thus very expensive, or out of stock because the supplier’s plants shut down because of COVID several times. I’m doing the best I can, just like every other restaurant, and it’s unfair to write a negative review for something completely out of our control.” ― Matt Coggin, owner of D.B.A. Barbecue in Atlanta

Be a critical Yelp review reader

“I think taking a big picture approach to Yelp reviews is helpful. Rather than focusing on just the negative reviews, pay attention to what things pop up most frequently. Do the reviews mention a specific dish over and over again, which you absolutely must try? Is there a special happy hour day or an entertainment program that gets mentioned often that might be up your alley (or too loud for your preference) that helps you decide when, or even if, you would enjoy visiting that establishment? Do the reviews give you insight on what type of indoor/outdoor setup the restaurant has, and does it align with your personal comfort level? I think Yelp reviews, when taken as a whole, can be super useful to find exactly the type of restaurant you want to go to and where you would have the best time based on your own unique preferences. Everyone can have an off day, so one or two negative reviews (or even a few suspiciously raving reviews!) shouldn’t sway you one way or the other.” ― Maldonado
