Chris Martin Skips Dinner

One week after his ex-wife’s controversial diet went viral, the Coldplay’s Chris Marin told “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast listeners that he does not “have dinner anymore.”  She explained, “I stop eating at 4, and I learned that from having lunch with Bruce Springsteen.  “I was lucky enough to go over there to lunch the day after we played Philadelphia last year,” he continued in Monday’s episode, noting that he “was on a really strict diet anyway.”  Martin shared that he was inspired to make Springsteen’s habits his “next challenge” because the 73-year-old rocker looked “more in shape” than he did at the time.  When Springsteen’s wife, Patti Scialfa, told Martin that her husband “only eat[s] one meal a day,” the “Fix You” singer thought, “Well, there we go.”  Martin joked that his single meal consists of a “flank of buffalo with a steroid sauce.”  As for Paltrow, she practices intermittent fasting, waiting until 12 p.m. to eat her first meal.  “I have bone broth for [lunch] a lot of the days,” the actress, 50, revealed in the March 13 episode of the “Art of Being Well” podcast. “Then for dinner I try to eat according to paleo, so lots of vegetables.”
********Then she sticks some ozone up her butt for dessert!!!

Nick Cannon Let One Get Away!

Nick Cannon opened up to Thembi Mawema on a new episode of “Stepping Into The Shade Room” about his love life.  Mawema gets right to it, asking Cannon, 42, if there are any women he regrets not procreating with from his past.  “Is there anyone who you dated in the past that you were like ‘You know what, I wish we would have had a baby’?” she asks Cannon.  Cannon did not hesitate, even admitting, “I know (this) is going to go viral.”  “When Christina Milian and I were doing ‘Love Don’t Cost A Thing’ … I remember when I found out she was pregnant. Did I have kids yet? I don’t know, but I was like, dang man,” Cannon replied.  Mawema interjects, “That could have been me?”  “Yeah yeah yeah,” Cannon replied. “I was so happy for her. I remember we was kids in love early on, and so we talked about that, but to each his own. Life plans it out. The universe gives it how it’s supposed to be given.”  Cannon and Milian, 41, were co-stars in 2003’s “Love Don’t Cost A Thing” and the pair dated following the film’s debut, but split when Milian found out Cannon had been unfaithful.
*********Nick doesn’t call it “being unfaithful,” he calls it “moving on to my next project!!!”

Ben and Matt Once Shared Bank Accounts

Before they shared movie screens together, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon shared a bank account.  They’ve been friends since high school, where they both aspired to make it in Hollywood. On Wednesday’s episode of “The Bill Simmons Podcast” the pair explained that opening a checking account together as teenagers in the late 1980s was a way to help them chase their goals.  “It was unusual, but we needed the money for auditions,” Damon said, calling it “a weird thing in retrospect.”  Affleck said that because they were best friends trying to make it as actors, they were rooting for each other’s success and felt comfortable sharing their money.  “We were going to help each other and be there for each other,” Affleck said. “It was like, ‘You’re not going to be alone. I’m not going to be alone. Let’s go out there and do this together.’”  Over the years the account would be funded whenever Damon or Affleck, who were also roommates, booked a role — with some being bigger than others.  “As long as one of us had money we knew the power wasn’t going to get shut off,” Damon said. “After doing [1992′s] ‘Geronimo’ I probably had 35 grand in the bank. I was like ‘we’re good for a year.’”

Jewel’s Mom Blew Her Fortune

On the latest episode of the Verywell Mind Podcast with Amy Morin, singer Jewel reflected that her volatile relationship with her mother has fueled her near-lifelong commitment to mental health — and that Nedra Carroll allegedly once stole over $100 million from her.  “I didn’t really realize what my mom was until I was 30-something … I woke up and realized she embezzled all of my money — over $100 million,” Jewel claimed.  She continued, “And then as I started investigating the truth about what my mom had told me in my life versus what was true, I had realized that pretty much everything that I had formed my reality off was fiction.”  She added that she realized her family’s separation following her parents’ divorce was not for the reasons she initially thought as a child.  “My dad didn’t take us from my mom, he actually did a good thing ….[I] realized my mom left because she didn’t want to be a mom,” she said about her “scary” and “terrifying” childhood.
*********Her mom gave her a lot of hang-ups… and fortunately, she also gave her a smokin’ bod!!

Isley Brothers Lawsuit

Rudolph Isley, one of the members of the legendary Isley Brothers, is suing his brother Ronald for filing a trademark registration for the Isley Brothers solely under his name.   In legal documents, Rudolph’s legal team is seeking a judicial declaration that states “The Isley Brothers” trademark is “jointly owned” by both him and Ronald “equally” and asks the judge to require Ronald to pay him his “share of all proceeds” earned from it.  Alongside their older brother O’Kelly Isley, Rudolph and Ronald formed the Isley Brothers in 1954. Throughout the years, Rudolph claimed that the band operated as an “equal partnership under the sole ownership, direction, and control of its founding members,” with the three brothers splitting all expenses, profits, and control of the business even as their lineup grew. Following the death of O’Kelly in 1986, the singer’s interests were passed onto Rudolph and Ronald, leaving them both “with a 50% share of ownership in the Group and the Mark,” according to the complaint.  However, Rudolph alleges that Ronald “filed an application to register exclusive rights in the Mark in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in his own personal name” in November 2021 without Rudolph’s “knowledge or approval.” The suit claims that Ronald has “offered goods and services in commerce to the public” over the last year without his knowledge and “has failed to account to or make payment to [him] in connection with such exploitation of the Mark.”  “Rudolph is unaware of the degree to which Ronald exploited the Mark, the licenses and/or other transactions that Ronald entered into for the use of the Mark, or the revenue Ronald garnered through such exploitation,” the suit stated. As a result, Rudolph is asking that his brother “account for and pay over” his “rightful 50 percent share of all results and proceeds of the past exploitation of the Mark.”
*********How about the other brother, Mos Isley??? (Star Wars joke)

Leo’s a Lazy Lover!-(Star)

Famous for dating a string of very young models, Leonardo DiCaprio is the ultimately Hollywood lothario.  Or is he?  Sources say the 48-year-old is gaining a rep as a disappointment between the sheets.  “Leo is an extremely lazy lover,” says an insider.  “He gives these girls a five-star party experience but passion is far down the list.

Turns out the Don’t Look Up actor is a big geek at heart, says the insider, and prefers nerding out to getting busy.  “He gets bummed out when girls don’t share his excitement for stuff like action figures, comic books and, of course, his beloved dinosaur collection!”

STUPID NEWS

Spilled Wine

The California Highway Patrol said clean-up crews were summoned to a stretch of highway when a truck overturned and spilled its load of about 10,000 empty wine bottles into the roadway.  The CHP’s Santa Rosa office said the truck overturned on Highway 101, near Healdsburg, and the trailer ripped open, spilling its load of about 10,000 empty wine bottles into the roadway.  “No other vehicles involved and the driver wasn’t injured,” the CHP said in a Facebook post.  The cause of the crash was unclear. Crews responded to clean up the mess and repair a guardrail.  See the photo HERE.
*********They were empty bottles. At least, by the time the cops got there, they were empty!!

Miniature Horse Leads Chase

An escaped miniature horse spotted trotting loose in Alabama led police on a 2-hour chase before being safely corralled, police said.  The Tuscaloosa Police Department said in a Facebook post that the small equine was spotted in the Alberta section of the city about 10 p.m. Monday.  “He was extremely unwilling to go with the officers at first, and not at all interested in the pizza crusts or peppermints they offered,” the post said.  The horse led officers “in a low-speed foot pursuit” for about two hours before they managed to capture it.  “He eventually allowed himself to be caught, and was happy to get pets and pose for selfies,” police wrote.  The department jokingly posted a mugshot for the mini horse, which they dubbed Ginuwine in honor of the “Pony” singer. The mugshot said the horse was booked on charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Longest Soccer Goal

A goalie for a Chilean soccer team may have set a new world record when he kicked a goal from a distance of about 110 yards.  Leandro Requena, goalkeeper for Cobresal in the Chilean Football Federation, took a goal kick during the team’s game against Colo-Colo and the ball sailed into the opposing team’s goal.  “I wanted to take the kick quickly as we have done so many times at altitude, to try to catch the rival off guard and it came out a little stronger than normal,” Requena told Radio Bio Bio.  Team officials estimated the goal was kicked from a distance of about 110 yards. The current Guinness World Record for longest goal in a competitive soccer match is 105 yards and was set by British player Tom King in January 2021.  “I asked Juan Silva, the club’s manager, if the request for the record application was really going to be made and he told me, ‘Obviously yes,'” Requena said. See the video HERE.

Woman Finds Huge Snake In Her Bed

An Australian reptile wrangler was called out to a Queensland home where a woman found one of the world’s most venomous snakes slithering in her bed.  Zachery Richards of Zachery’s Snake and Reptile Relocation posted photos to his business’ Facebook page showing the 6-foot eastern brown snake stretched out on a Maroon woman’s bed.  “When I arrived, she [the resident] was waiting outside for me, and I went inside to the bedroom that the snake was in, and she had the door shut with a towel underneath, so it couldn’t get out,” Richards told CBS News. “I pushed the door open, and it was lying in bed looking at me.”  Richards said the snake likely came in through an open door to escape the heat.  “Or it just wanted a nice comfortable bed to sleep in,” he said.  See the pics HERE.

10 Cheap Business Ideas You Can Start for Less Than $1,000

THE PENNY HOARDER

  1. Pressure Washing

The great thing about a pressure washing business is that everyone is going to need it eventually. And it’s relevant for both residential and commercial properties that need clean exterior walls, driveways, decks, sidewalks and so on. There’s also an opportunity to pressure wash commercial vehicles, like semi trucks.  One of the obvious keys to being successful here is a quality pressure washer. Unless you already have one, that will be your largest purchase. A good, commercial grade washer will set you back anywhere between $500 to $3,500 at Home Depot. You can choose from both gas and electric options.  The only caveat? If you don’t already have a good transportation option, you may need a truck or van to carry your equipment from site to site. That could run you at least a few hundred dollars per month for a truck lease. You might even look into a short-term rental and hustling hard for a week or weekend each month until your business grows enough to warrant a vehicle lease or purchase.

  1. Carpet Shampooing

One big perk to a carpet shampooing business is that it’s easily mobile. Since you’re working offsite, you really don’t need to invest any overhead in an office space. You simply need space to store your equipment, like a garage or laundry room.  New carpet extractors aren’t cheap and will run you at least $1,000, but you can also find professional cleaners for around $500 on Amazon. You’ll also need other related tools and cleaning products, so be sure to factor that in as well.

  1. Handyman

Most neighborhoods have one — the trusted friend and neighbor you can rely on to help with the leaky faucet, the hole in the drywall and the broken appliance.  If that’s you, then why not make it a handyman business? Since most legit handymen already have their own tools, your startup costs here might be next to nothing. Maybe you need to update some specific tools and spend $20 here and there, but most everything you’ll need is in your garage.  That said, you might want to set aside a monthly budget for new tools or common items that get used up, like caulking, nails and so on.

  1. Etsy Seller

When it comes to low cost business ideas, selling on Etsy tops the list. You can sign up for free and set up your online shop within minutes.  However, that’s just the online storefront part of this equation. You’ll of course have expenses related to what you actually sell, but that can vary from art, stickers, jewelry, handmade clothes, digital files and so much more. We’ll leave that alone since the related costs have such a wide range.  Etsy does expect you to know if you’re working on a business or hobby though. Here’s how Etsy explains it:  “If you’re selling on Etsy without expecting a profit, your shop may qualify as a hobby. If your Etsy shop is something you dedicate time to on a regular basis (and the time you spend is not inconsequential), and your primary purpose for the shop is for income or profit, your shop qualifies as a business.”  In that case, you should look at setting up an LLC just like any other business. More on that later.

  1. Personal Trainer

The upfront costs to start a personal training business are minimal. In most cases, if you’re interested in this as a small business idea, you’ll likely already have everything you need from a supply standpoint.  Make a checklist of everything you need — from exercise mats, kettle bells, balance balls, first aid kit, resistance bands and so on — then budget for whatever you don’t already have at home.  In the United States, you’re not required to be certified as a personal trainer. But from a marketing standpoint, you’ll probably want to get certified. Plus, most gyms won’t hire you or allow you to use their space if you aren’t certified. Personal trainer certification can cost anywhere from $200 to $2,000 depending on the level of training you want.  If weights and balance balls aren’t necessarily your thing or you’d rather stick to simple cardio like running, then you could always look into being a certified running coach.

  1. Travel Planner

Going the traditional travel agent route can be pretty expensive in the beginning. That said, there is a new age of business models that allow you to get started at a much lower cost.  For example, Thatch has a free mobile app that allows travelers to create their own travel-based businesses. Over the last decade, sharing a travel experience over Instagram or TikTok has resulted in many pop-up business models.  Thatch has formalized that experience and allows users to curate, share and sell interactive travel guides and planning services. It’s free to get started on Thatch, and the company will take 10% of whatever you earn. Trova offers a similar model but is more group-focused. And not only do users plan the trip, they also travel with their group as a host.  So, yes, you’ll spend more than $1,000 on trips but if you’re going anyway, you’ll only be out the time to gather your thoughts and share your experiences. That itinerary you made for yourself could sell over and over again on Thatch. Hello, passive income!

  1. Tour Guide

If you live in or near a town that offers sightseeing opportunities, you could start a tour guide business with fairly low overhead costs.  You can easily set up shop from a home, so your main expenses will be ensuring you have transportation, unless you’re strictly doing walking tours — which would, of course, be much cheaper, assuming you live in a metropolitan area fit for a good walking tour.  If not, used vans can be had for less than $3,000 or maybe you partner with a local bike shop to do bike tours. You’ll also want to make sure people know about your business through some basic marketing, maybe through social media, Airbnb experiences, tour sites or a free website through a hosting company like GoDaddy or SquareSpace. (More on that too.)  If you’d like more help getting started, you can also offer your services through tour guide platforms. Basically, you can apply for free, they might conduct a brief interview or two, then you can be listed as a guide in your area. For every client you serve, they may take a cut — usually around 15% to 20%.

  1. Laundry Service

Yes, you could actually start your own laundry business. This is a perfect idea if you’re the type of person who uses laundry time as a kind of therapy.  The easiest way to do this is by using a service like TaskRabbit, Care.com and Laundry Care — which might involve an initial registration fee between $25 to $100.  A laundry business is even more doable if you already own a washer, dryer and some form of transportation. Other than that, you might want to invest in things like laundry bags and hampers, garment covers, bag tags and a hanging scale.  Your upfront investment on a laundry business will be next to nothing, assuming you already have a washer and dryer and a car if you plan to offer pick up and delivery.

  1. Dog Walking

Talk about almost non-existent startup costs! A dog walking business will cost you next to nothing. All you really need is the ability to walk and the patience to keep up with Rover — or slow down for the many potty breaks.  Though dog walking businesses have been around for a long time, it’s taken off in some metropolitan areas like New York City, with some people making more than six figures a year! In addition, more than 23 million American households got a pet during the pandemic, according to the ASPCA. That’s nearly one in five households, and a lot of pets who need to go for a stroll.  Starting a dog walking business is easy through online sites like Rover and Wag. You’ll set your rates, pay an initial profile review fee ($35 on Rover and $29.95 on Wag), then Rover or Wag will take a percentage from each walk as well. A search in the Nashville area showed individuals making $15 to $30 per walk.

  1. Professional Organizer

If you’re gifted with the talent of an organizer, you’ve already completed half the battle in starting an organization business.  To give your new business some credibility, you may want to consider joining an organization like NAPO — the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals. A provisional membership costs $319 and gives you loads of benefits, including access to many of NAPO’s certification courses. These certifications will only boost your organizational resume.  After that, you can spread the word about your new businesses. Consider starting with friends and neighbors, so you can have few success stories to tout on your website.
