Johnny Depp Loses Court Battle

A British court on Thursday refused to let Johnny Depp appeal a judge’s ruling that he assaulted ex-wife Amber Heard.  He had sought to challenge last year’s decision to dismiss his lawsuit against The Sun newspaper for branding him a “wife beater” — which a UK judge said was “substantially true.”  But in the ruling released, two Court of Appeal judges rejected his application for an appeal — insisting that he got a “full and fair” hearing.  The initial judge “gave thorough reasons for his conclusions which have not been shown even arguably to be vitiated by any error of approach or mistake of law,” the ruling stated.  “We would accordingly dismiss both Mr Depp’s application for permission to adduce further evidence and his application for permission to appeal,” they wrote.  The initial lawsuit led to three weeks of explosive testimony in July in which Depp and Heard gave conflicting accounts of their brief, tempestuous marriage — with the actress saying the brutal “monster” in her ex-husband left her fearing for her life.  It included lurid details of his heavy drinking and drug taking as well as gross allegations of feces being left in their marital bed.

Bewitched Movie In The Works

A movie based on the classic television series “Bewitched” is in development at Sony.  The show followed Samantha Stevens, a young woman who uses her powers to solve her family’s problems – despite marrying a man without any magic of his own.  Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, who both worked on “12 Monkeys” and “MacGuyver,” will pen the script while John Fox and John Davis (“Dolemite Is My Name,” “Game Night”) will produce. In 2005, Sony released a movie based on the series with a rom-com spin following two actors working on a reboot of the classic television show. The movie starred Nicole Kidman as Isabel Bigelow, a magical actress paired with Will Ferrell’s Jack Wyatt. Shirley MacLane, Michael Caine Jason Schwartzman and Kristin Chenoweth also starred.  According to Deadline, the new “Bewitched” film will stick closer to the show and will see a woman with magical powers marry an advertising executive, with frequent visits from her relatives.  The original “Bewitched” television show ran on ABC from 1964-1972 and starred Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York – who was later replaced by Dick Sargent.

Queen Not Happy About Family Drama

Queen Elizabeth II reportedly isn’t pleased with her family’s drama.  The family was rocked just weeks ago by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.  While public statements from the queen have remained supportive of the pair, a royal insider told People magazine she’s feeling unhappy over the drama.  “What she won’t want is family conflict at this stage of her reign,” they said.  During the interview, the young royal duo often referred to the royal family as “the Institution,” which many believe is hard to separate from the queen herself, as she’s the head of the Institution.  Queen Elizabeth was forced to face the fallout of the interview on her own, as Philip was held up in the hospital for weeks until very recently.  “She is always head of the country and Prince Philip was always head of the family,” the insider continued. “He is not there to be that — so everything is falling on to her shoulders. It must be an incredibly lonely place to be.”  In a public statement after Harry’s interview, the queen said that her grandson, Markle and Archie, “will always be much loved family members,” though she seemingly disputed claims of racism but admitted that they are “taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”

Megxit Getting The Movie Treatment

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal exit is going to be turned into a Lifetime movie.   They will be the subjects of the made-for-television movie “Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace,” which has been greenlit by the network, according to a press release.  The story will follow the network’s two previous movies about the couple: 2018’s “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance” and 2019’s “Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal.”  The network said that “Escaping the Palace” would reveal what happened within the royal family that drove them to recuse themselves from their royal duties and relocate to America with their son Archie.  Specifically, the movie will chronicle Markle’s isolation in the U.K. and the couple’s frustrations at the lack of support in combatting intense media pressure.  Family feuds between Harry, Markle, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Charles will also be explored.

Sharon Osbourne Is Lawyered Up

Sharon Osbourne has lawyered up big-time amid “The Talk” drama which has exploded into a full-blown scandal about race.  She is being represented by powerhouse lawyer Jeremiah Reynolds, of the LA law firm Eisner, in her negotiations with CBS as the network investigates reports of an alleged “racially insensitive and hostile environment” on the show.  The complaints were sparked by Osbourne’s recent exchange with Sheryl Underwood, which has forced the show off the air for two weeks so far.  A source familiar with the CBS internal investigation said, “Sharon wasted no time in getting her lawyers immediately on the case. Jeremiah Reynolds has a very strong reputation as a trial and arbitration lawyer and is handling all her negotiations with CBS.”  Another source had earlier told Page Six that Osbourne is now expecting to be fired, but she won’t go without a huge payout from CBS.  “The network will have to pay her a sizeable settlement to keep her quiet after this,” the source said. “She could write a book, she would do a world of interviews. She knows where all the bodies are buried.”

Kanye West is getting his revenge in the recording studio.  According to a source, the rapper, 43, is working on a brand-new album during his divorce from Kim Kardashian.  “Kanye uses music as a tool to express himself, so it’s safe to say that he won’t hold back about their marriage,” says the source.  “It’s no secret that Kanye is a loose cannon who says it how it is,” notes a source.  “Kim is bound to be dreading the release.”

Popcorn Machine Keeps Setting Off Fire Alarms

A lawmaker’s popcorn machine was removed from the North Dakota Capitol after it set off fire alarms twice in one day, officials said.  The Capitol’s legislative wing was evacuated twice Monday, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, after fire alarms were triggered by a popcorn machine brought in by Rep. Mary Johnson, R-Fargo.  Facility Management Director John Boyle said the Bismark Fire Department responded to both calls.  Johnson said she had been unaware of a 32-year-old policy from the Office of Management and Policy that bans popcorn machines and other cooking devices from being used outside of the Capitol Cafe. The policy was designed to prevent fire alarms from being triggered, Boyle said.  House Majority Leader Chet Pollert, R-Carrington, said the popcorn machine was meant to be a treat for House Republicans. He told the Bismark Tribune the caucus had been “a little strained” due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent expulsion of former representative Luke Simons, R-Dickinson, who was accused of workplace and sexual harassment.

Bear Invades Hot Tub

A tourist staying at a cabin in Tennessee captured video when a black bear dropped by and decided to take a relaxing soak in the hot tub.  Todd Trebony, of Camilla, Ga., said he was staying at a rental cabin in Gatlinburg when he spotted a black bear climbing onto the patio.  The bear wandered around the patio before climbing into the hot tub for a dip.  Trebony posted video of the unusual guest to his Facebook and Instagram pages.  The tourist said he watched the bear from the other side of the window until the animal left on its own.  See the video HERE.

Get Paid To Binge All Bond Movies!

A culture website is offering $1,000 for a James Bond fan to watch all 24 official films in the 007 franchise to celebrate the upcoming release of No Time to Die.  NerdBear.com, a “nerd culture” website, said it is seeking someone to watch all 24 James Bond 007 films, from 1962’s Dr. No to 2015’s Spectre, prior to the Sept. 30 release of No Time to Die, the 25th film in the franchise.  The chosen candidate will receive $1,000, a $100 Amazon gift card to rent the movies and a $50 AMC gift card to go see the latest film when it releases.  “The delay of No Time to Die from April to September 2021 has disappointed many James Bond fans,” said Amar Hussain, founder of Nerd Bear. “While we wait for the release later this year, we thought it would be fun and a pleasant distraction from COVID to offer this opportunity to a movie buff.”  The website said the person will be asked to watch all 24 films in 30 days and complete a worksheet.  The application, which is available online through April 16, asks candidates to explain why they are the right James Bond fan for the job.

Civil War Bomb Found and Destroyed

A Maryland bomb squad was summoned to a home to safely dispose of a Civil War-era cannonball discovered with its fusing mechanism still intact.  The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal said a bomb squad was called Tuesday to a home in Jefferson where a resident reported they had been given the cannonball by a relative who found it near the Monocacy Battlefield in Frederick County.  The person said they called authorities after another family member raised concerns that it could explode. The bomb squad determined it was a Civil War-era cannonball and its fusing mechanism was still intact, meaning it could potentially still be dangerous.  The technicians took the cannonball to the Beaver Creek Quarry to be safely detonated.
*******Not to be too serious, but can you imagine the damage those cannonballs could do?? Brutal!!
TIP: If you find unexploded ordinance, LEAVE IT WHERE IT IS!!!
