Honey Boo Boo In Police Chase!

The boyfriend of Alana Thompson, AKA Honey Boo Boo, has been arrested for DUI after a police chase with Alana riding in the same vehicle.  21-year-old Dralin Carswell was arrested Tuesday in Monroe County, according to police, who says Alana was in the car with Dralin when the tags on his Dodge Charger were run by police, which showed the owner of the vehicle had outstanding warrants.  Monroe County Lt. John Thompson says an officer then attempted to do a traffic stop on Dralin, but instead was led on a chase that went about 3 miles — ending in a pit maneuver, spinning the car out.  Officers say they found marijuana and Dralin was arrested for DUI and fleeing from cops, as well as outstanding warrants out of Wilkinson County. Another passenger, Julian Malik Divon Williams, was also arrested for outstanding warrants.  Alana reportedly wasn’t taken into custody, and was later picked up by her sister, Pumpkin.

Gisele Bundchen Has Some Wisdom For Herself

Gisele Bündchen is offering some words of wisdom for when “life gets challenging.”  She took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a photo of herself practicing yoga on the beach, accompanied by a message about self-reflection.  “Being healthy is more than a clean diet and exercise. It’s about our attitudes, emotions, beliefs, thoughts and actions,” she captioned the photo.  “When life gets challenging always remember that the sun rises everyday bringing a new opportunity for us to try again and do better. It can get intense out there and we can get easily distracted by the noise. Awareness is key. What energy you are nurturing? Remember, we are the co-creators of our own reality, what we believe we create.”  Her post came one day after her ex-husband, Tom Brady, whom she split from in 2022, was rumored to be in talks with Netflix about a celebrity roast.  According to TMZ, Tom could be the focus of a comedy special with the working title, “The Greatest Roast of All Time.”

Ozzy Hints About Leaving Retirement

Ozzy Osbourne revealed he would be open to touring again weeks after announcing his retirement from the road.  He, last month, pulled the plug on all of his upcoming shows in the UK and Europe this year as he recovers from spinal surgery.  He now says that going on tour may ultimately be an option for him. “So, if I can ever get back to where I can tour again, fine,” Osbourne said on his “Ozzy’s Boneyard” SiriusXM show.  “But right now, if you said to me, ‘Can you go on the road in a month?’ I couldn’t say yes. I mean, if I could tour I’d tour. But right now I can’t book tours because right now, I don’t think I could pull them off,” he told host Billy Morrison.  “If I get OK today, if the doctor said to me today, ‘Oh, you can tour.’ It would take another six months to get it together, you know? The only thing I’ve got that keeps me going is making records. But I can’t do that forever. I gotta get out there,” said Osbourne.

Will Smith Returned To An Award Show

Will Smith returned to the award show stage in person for the first time since slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars last year.  He accepted the Beacon Award at the African American Film Critics Association Awards on Wednesday alongside his “Emancipation” director Antoine Fuqua.  After Fuqua spoke, thanking the cast and crew, he passed the microphone to Smith.  “‘Emancipation’ was the most individual difficult film of my entire career,” Smith said. “It’s really difficult to transport a modern mind to that time period. It’s difficult to imagine that level of inhumanity.”  Smith plays an enslaved man named Peter in the AppleTV+ movie, and described filming one scene where another actor ad-libbed and spit on him during a take.  “It was the second day of shooting and 110 degrees,” he said. “I was in a scene with one of the White actors, and we had our lines, and the actor decided to ad-lib. So, we’re doing the scene. I did my line. He did his line. And then he ad-libbed and spit in the middle of my chest. If I had pearls on, I definitely would’ve clutched them. I wanted to say, ‘Antoineeeeee,’ but I stopped, and I realized that Peter couldn’t have called the director.”  Smith did not attend the NAACP Image Awards last weekend, where he won the best actor award for his performance in the film, but he expressed his gratitude on social media for the recognition.

Madonna is reportedly dating her kids’ boxing coach, Josh Popper, just days after parting ways with Andrew Darnell, who was 41 years her junior.  Her alleged new lover has been training one of her six children at his gym, Bredwinners, in New York City.  She shared a snap with the 29-year-old trainer on her Instagram story last month which also featured some other gym coaches.  This comes after Page Six reported that she has broken up with Darnell following five-month romance.  Madonna was said to be suffering a “crisis of confidence” over her split from Darnell after facing “ageist and misogynist” criticism over her 2023 Grammys look.  Discussing the breakup, an insider told the outlet, “It was only a very casual thing [with Darnell] so she’s not broken-hearted. It’s just that it has come at a bad time.”  “She’s having a bit of a crisis of confidence and this doesn’t help. She had a lot of fun with Andrew but it was never love or anything like that,” the insider added.

Paper Airplane Record

A trio of engineers broke a Guinness World Record when they created and threw a paper airplane that flew a distance of 289 feet and 9 inches.  Dillon Ruble and Garrett Jensen, who work for Boeing, teamed up with fellow aerospace engineer Nathan Erickson and spent four months experimenting with paper plane designs before taking on the Guinness World Record for farthest flight by a paper aircraft.  The final design was put to the test in Crown Point, Ind., where Ruble managed to break the world record on his third try.  The flight of 289 feet and 9 inches broke the record of 252 feet and 7 inches, which was set by Chee Yie Jian, Shin Moo Joon and Kim Kyu Tae in April 2022.  See the video HERE.

Movie Promotion Prompts 911 Calls

A person dressed as the “Ghostface” killer from the Scream franchise prompted multiple 911 calls in California, but police said the person was hired to promote the latest installment in the franchise.  The Sonoma Police Department said multiple 911 calls were placed Monday morning about a personal standing on a street corner next to Sonoma Plaza while dressed in the iconic horror costume.  “This individual has been contacted and was hired by a company through Paramount to promote the new Scream movie,” the department said in a Facebook post.  Scream VI, the latest film in the series, releases March 10^th.  See the video HERE.

Woman Eats Expensive Potato Chip

A woman from England has revealed that she mistakenly ate a heart-shaped potato chip that could have awarded her a massive cash prize.  Dawn Sagar found the chip, or “crisp” as they say in England, in a bag of Walkers – a British snack food company known for manufacturing potato crisps.  Sagar was unaware that the snack was of value at the time, FOX 5 Atlanta reported. The chip could have made Sagar the winner of the “Heart Shaped Crisp Hunt” – a contest hosted by Walkers.  “At first I didn’t realize that crisp would be worth money as I hadn’t heard about the competition,” Sagar told Fox Television Stations.  She took note of the chip and even sent a picture of it to her friends after finding it in the snack bag the day after Valentine’s Day, FOX 5 reported.  After capturing the photo, Sagar then ate the valuable chip.  “It wasn’t until they messaged me back saying not to eat it due to the competition that I knew anything about it and had already eaten the crisp,” Sagar said. In a press release shared by Walkers, the chip company is giving away £100,000, which is equivalent to $120,183.50, to whomever finds the “best heart shaped crisp in their Walkers packet of crisps.”  “Big hearts, small hearts, bubbly hearts, crispy hearts – we want to see them all!,” the press release states.

Man Gets Irish Accent After Diagnosis

A man in the US who was diagnosed with prostate cancer is said to have developed an “uncontrollable Irish accent”.  Despite the patient having no Irish background, researchers have said the accent was consistent with foreign accent syndrome (FAS), the British Medical Journal (BMJ) reported.  The images, however, did reveal the progression of his prostate cancer.  Researchers found that despite chemotherapy, the patient’s cancer progressed, leading to a multifocal brain tumour and a “likely paraneoplastic ascending paralysis”.  This means the man was most likely at the late stage of his cancer, leading to his death.  The development of the man’s condition was “consistent with an underlying paraneoplastic neurological disorder (PND)” researchers said.  PND is a group of uncommon disorders developed in some people who have cancer, according to the BMJ.  FAS is a rare speech disorder which causes sufferers to start speaking in different accents.

7 Tips to Make the Most of Your Internet Speed

If you’re still trying to figure out how to get more bandwidth out of the broadband you have, these tips can help.

 

1. Change the Channel on Your Wi-Fi

If you’re struggling with low bandwidth, it might be time to change the channel. Your router automatically operates on certain channels, but you can force it to switch the signal to a channel with fewer users in your area. This guide can walk you through which channels to use and give you directions on how to make the change.

2. Reconfigure Your QoS

It sounds like tech speak, but QoS, or quality of service protocols, prioritize which activities get first dibs on bandwidth usage. You can adjust the QoS in your router settings so that next time someone is streaming Netflix, but you’re on a work-related Teams call, Teams will get priority.

3. Get a Better Router

You get what you pay for and routers are no exception. Ideally, you want a high-end dual-bandwidth router that lets you use two different frequencies simultaneously. And yes, the old-school one your cable company gave you with your broadband package is probably part of the problem.

4. Try a Wi-Fi Extender

Wi-Fi extenders or repeaters won’t increase your internet speed but they will expand the reach of your wireless connection. If you have a room in the house that seems to be a dead zone, extenders can be a spot fix for intermittent Wi-Fi signal problems.

5. Reduce Devices on Your Network

Check your router to see which devices are connected to your network. Because of the ubiquitousness of the Internet of Things, modern homes have tons of smart devices battling for bandwidth. Disconnect what you don’t regularly use like that smart scale or toaster oven.

6. Use a Wired Connection

Wi-Fi signals can be finicky, but you can remove the guesswork out of your bandwidth problems by connecting your computer to an ethernet cable and using wired connections. One benefit of using a wired ethernet connection is that it’ll be easier to pinpoint the source of your slow bandwidth.

7. Upgrade Your Internet Plan or Switch Providers

Last but not least, maybe it’s time to consider breaking up with your internet provider or buckling down and paying for the speed you need. Switching providers can buy you more speed at lower costs if you’re willing to sign up for a longer-term contract.
