Father Of The Bride Reunion
The cast of beloved ’90s film Father of the Bride will reunite during a virtual event this week. Netflix said Tuesday that it will host a reunion on its YouTube and Facebook accounts Friday at 6 p.m. EDT to raise funds for the nonprofit World Central Kitchen. The streaming service shared a teaser for the special from the perspective of Steve Martin’s character, George Banks. George gets an e-mail from his daughter, Annie Banks-Mackenzie (Kimberly Williams), featuring photos from her wedding, and an invite to a video call from his son, Matty Banks (Kieran Culkin). “25 years later, the Banks family returns for a very special event to benefit World Central Kitchen,” text in the video reads.

New York City’s Times Square will look very different on New Year’s Eve this year. On any given year, the so-called “Crossroads of the World” is packed to the gills with people excited to ring in the new year as broadcasts play host to musical entertainment and the like. But with 2020 unlike any given year due to the coronavirus — among other things — this year’s event will reflect that. In a statement provided to Fox News by the event’s organizers, Times Square Alliance President Tim Tompkins said the event will go virtual and will not host the usual raucous crowd of revelers. The event will, however, include “scaled-back and socially distanced live elements still to be determined, and an extremely limited group of in-person honorees, socially distanced, who will reflect the themes, challenges and inspirations of 2020.” “One thing that will never change is the ticking of time and the arrival of a New Year at midnight on December 31st,” said Tompkins. “But this year there will be significantly new and enhanced virtual, visual and digital offerings to complement whatever limited live entertainment or experiences – still in development – will take place in Times Square.” He reiterated that any live events that take place will be available virtually. “Because more than ever in these divided and fear-filled times, the world desperately needs to come together symbolically and virtually to celebrate the people and things we love and to look forward with a sense of renewal and new beginnings,” Tompkins said.

Cake Boss Impaled
Celebrity baker and Carlo’s Bake Shop owner, Buddy Valastro, is recovering after a terrible bowling accident. The Food Network star’s hand was impaled after getting it stuck in the bowling pinsetter, a representative for his company confirmed. He underwent surgery earlier this week. A malfunction with a pinsetter, which has been an easy fix in the past, caused Valastro’s hand to become lodged and compressed inside the machine, his spokesperson said. “Unable to remove his hand, he can see a 1 1/2 inch metal rod slowly and repeatedly impale his hand three times between his ring finger and middle finger,” the spokesperson said. More than five minutes elapsed and he was still unable to remove his hand. His son cut him free from the machine using a reciprocating saw, which he used to cut through the metal rod, the spokesperson said. Valastro was rushed to Morristown Memorial in New Jersey for emergency surgery on Sunday to remove the impaled rod and stabilize the wound, according to the spokesperson.

Meghan Markle made a surprise virtual appearance during the Season 15 finale of “America’s Got Talent,” showing her support for finalist Archie Williams, who spent many years behind bars for a crime he did not commit. “Hi Archie, I just wanted to let you know that we’ve been so moved by your story, and we have been cheering you on every week, and it’s not just because we’re partial to the name,” Meghan said in her video, cheekily referencing her 1-year-old son Archie, whom she shares with husband Prince Harry. “A very special message to you, that I’ll probably be saying all of my life, but on this night it is specifically for you, Archie, we are proud of you, and we are rooting for you, and we can’t wait to see what you do. We’re in your corner. Have a good night,” she continued. Williams, a 59-year-old singer from Louisiana, had been incarcerated for 37 years for a crime he did not commit. Williams said he turned to music during “dark times.” The Innocence Project took on Williams’ case, and in March 2019, he was released from prison.

Firefighters in Britain said crews from three towns spent three hours extinguishing the flames from a blaze that started with a 22-ton pile of chicken manure. The Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service said crews from Leiston, Eye and Stowmarket responded to the property near Mendlesham when the foul-smelling fowl droppings erupted in flames. Officials said it took about three hours to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported. Experts said the chemicals in poultry manure can cause spontaneous combustion when a pile becomes too large to allow heat to escape.

Tooth Fairy Gets Message In A Bottle
A Tennessee boy who addressed a message in a bottle to the tooth fairy after losing his tooth at a South Carolina beach received a reply in the mail from a generous stranger, his mother said. Ashley Hamrick of Knox County said her young son, Lucas, was visiting Myrtle Beach with his family in June when he lost his tooth while boogie boarding and it disappeared into the surf. Hamrick helped Lucas write a letter to the tooth fairy explaining the incident and the note was put inside a bottle and thrown into the ocean.
The mother said she was surprised when a package showed up at the family’s home months later bearing a Dayton, Ohio, postmark. The package contained a letter addressed to Lucas and signed by “The Tooth Fairy.” “I hope you had a fun vacation at the beach! I’m so sorry that you lost your tooth in the surf. I got your message in the bottle, so I wasn’t worried about not finding it right away,” the letter reads. “Good news! Mermaids found your tooth and gave it to me! The mermaid wanted you to have this shark tooth to remember your vacation. Brush your teeth 2 times every day to keep them pretty for me. Flossing is good too. Stay safe,” the anonymous person wrote.

Grandma Bowls A 300
A 96-year-old Pennsylvania has become the first person at her local bowling alley to roll a “no tap 300,” meaning she knocked down at least nine pins in each frame. Sara Lyons, who will be 97 on Nov. 30, was bowling at Kennedy Lanes in McKees Rocks when she finished her game with a score of 300 — becoming the first person to do so at the alley. “I had all strikes in a row. Not an open frame at all,” Lyons told KDKA-TV. Lyons said she has been bowling since age 27, and this marked her first 300 score. “That’s hard,” she said. “It’s hard for a woman to do that, especially seniors.” Lyons said focusing on her family keeps her healthy and alert.

Pet Bird Found Off Shore
Animal rescuers in Scotland said they are trying to find the owner of an adventurous cockatiel that joined some surprised fishermen on a boat about 10 miles from shore. The Scottish SPCA said the fishermen told rescuers they were about 10 miles from shore, near Troon, Ayrshire, when the bird landed on their boat. The cockatiel was recovered by the SPCA and taken to the Ayrshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Center, where it was found to be in good health. “This was a very unusual rescue, I’ve never been contacted about a bird finding its way so far out at sea,” Animal Rescue Officer Sheena MacTaggart said. “Thank goodness the boat was there so the bird found somewhere to rest.” “He had no obvious injuries, and was given some water and food before being taken to our center in Ayrshire. We have named him HeiHei after the bird in the film Moana who stows away on her boat. We thought it was very fitting,” MacTaggart said.
