Jay Leno’s Take On The Oscar Slap

Jay Leno is weighing in on Will Smith’s behavior at the Oscars, where he slapped Chris Rock after he made about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head.  He described Will as a “good guy” but admitted the behavior he displayed on live television was “disturbing.” However, to Leno, the slap wasn’t the part that shocked him the most.  “To me, the thing that’s most disturbing wasn’t the slap, because he was kind of smirking after he slapped [Rock],” Leno said to the Palm Beach Daily News this week.   “It was the yelling of the obscenities. Then you go, ‘Whoa. What’s going on here? This is real anger,'” he said.  The incident led to an investigation conducted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Leno shared his opposition to the investigation.  “What are you investigating?,” Leno said. “It had to be the most recorded assault in history. I saw the back of his shoe, I saw Chris’ ear. There were so many cameras on this incident. What are you investigating? I know sometimes things are just what they appear to be.”
********OK… has EVERYONE weighed in on this now???
*******We just looked around for a “sh*t” to give.. and we couldn’t find any!!
******We still say that if they have a show where all the movie stars slap each other for three or four hours… BIG RATINGS!!!

Harry and Meghan Have Fun At Invictus Games

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were snapped at the Invictus Games squeezing into mini kiddie cars each accompanied by a young driver for the “race” that ended with the royal throwing up his arms in victory.  They were on hand on Saturday in the Netherlands for the first medal event of the fifth Invictus Games, the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge.  The challenge designed to test precision, skill and teamwork, saw Prince Harry getting in on the action.  He hopped into a Land Rover and helped the driver navigate a tricky set of hills. Markle was nearby, cheering on her husband.   Markle will stay with Harry for the first few days of the tournament, which ends on April 22nd, before flying home to California.  Before flying into the Netherlands the pair touched down in the UK to pay a visit to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II and his father, Prince Charles, at Windsor Castle.
*******Geez… didn’t look like they were too worried about “security,” did it???
*****They’re obviously much safer in the Netherlands than they are with the Queen of England!!
UPDATE: They hired FIVE security guards, and considered themselves “VVIP’s!!” (Very VERY Important People!) But the Dutch royals ignored them and didn’t invite the couple to stay over!!

Is Prince Harry Playing Mind Games With The Queen?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might be toying with the emotions of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles, an insider alleges.  “I think the queen and Prince Charles have missed them hugely, and therefore [Harry and Meghan] could wrap them around their little fingers and use them for commercial use as they have done before,” royal biographer Andrea Levin told “Good Morning Britain” viewers Friday.  They met with Prince Charles on Thursday, followed by what was described as a much calmer meeting with the queen, while on their way to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands.  Harry bashed his father during a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 in which he claimed Charles had cut him off financially.  The rift between the couple and members of the royal family grew deeper last month, when Harry hastily announced he would not return to England for March 29 memorial services for Prince Philip, the queen’s husband and his grandfather, who died last year.  The pair’s efforts to reach out likely have “something to do with not turning up at Prince Philip’s memorial service and finding out from that what the reaction to that was — it was very bad — and they can’t afford to lose that publicity,” Levin said.  Majesty magazine Editor-in-Chief Ingrid Seward added, “They basically need the Queen’s fairy dust, if you like, for their brand.”
********Meghan won’t be happy until they’re all DEAD!!!
*******Meghan needs to get home.. she’s missing the kid’s nannies!!
*******It was nice of them to spend a few minutes with his grandmother while they were on their way to someplace important!!
*****They showed up in the middle of the night, and she had to run around, change the sheets, and make them sandwiches!!!

Gilbert Gottfried Will Live On

There is apparently unseen footage featuring Gilbert Gottfried, who died on April 12 at the age of 67, in his role of the clever parrot Iago in Disney’s “Aladdin” as well as 200 hours of content left on his Cameo page.  The 1992 animated movie’s co-directors John Musker and Ron Clements believed that Robin Williams’ witty blue Genie needed a perfect foil to complement his character.  And Gottfried was that person to bring the villainous bird to life.  According to The Ringer, the filmmakers needed to sell their idea to then-Walt Disney Studios head Jeffrey Katzenberg. The pair played the chairman a clip from Gottfried’s film “Beverly Hills Cop II” in order to convince him of the late actor’s comedic chops.  “It’s almost 40 minutes into the movie when the Genie makes his first appearance,” Clements previously said. “It seemed like having another comedian really early on would help sort of set the tone. I think ‘Aladdin’ is really more of a comedy than most Disney movies … We thought Gilbert could bring some of that kind of humor earlier in the movie.”   “Kids see the movie now and most of them don’t know who Gilbert Gottfried is,” Musker added. “But they know Iago.”  Gottfried was able to improvise some of his lines during recordings, and many actually made it into the finished film. But the other material is gone with the wind and floating around somewhere in the Disney abyss.   Gottfried was also one of the top earners on Cameo — a video app where fans can ask their favorite celebs to send them personalized messages. Viewers needed to fork over $175 per video, but the money was well spent, as he would bring in loads of five-star reviews for his work on the app.  He recorded about 12,000 Cameo messages altogether, earning him over $2 million. There are also about 200 hours of videos that he created before his passing, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
*******They convinced Disney to use Iago by describing him as a “transgender parrot!!”
*******He’s in heaven now, where Prince Phillip is asking, “Who the hell is THAT???”
*****People take so much video now, EVERYONE will live on long after they’re gone!!

Amber Heard Dresses Like Johnny Depp During Trial

Viewers have pointed out an interesting detail in the clothes worn by Amber Heard and Johnny Depp during their defamation trial.  Depp is suing her in a $50 million defamation lawsuit over domestic abuse claims she made in an article in The Washington Post in 2018.  Members of the public have been watching on from home as the former couple meet in court once again, and some eagle-eyed viewers spotted an intriguing similarity in their attire.  On the first day of the trial, Depp wore a tie with a symbol of a bee on it, and Heard subsequently wore the same – or a very similar – bee tie.  These minor – though albeit interesting – details were overlooked by most viewers, who were more interested in headline-grabbing moments such as the testimony of Depp’s childhood friend, Isaac Baruch.  Asked if he was angry at Heard, he became emotional, saying: “I want this all to end – her to go heal, him to go heal.  “So many people have been affected by this malicious lie that she started and she created.   “It’s not fair, it’s not right what she did, and what happened.  For so many people to get affected from this, it’s insane how this happened.”  See the outfits HERE.
********The couple that dresses alike… sues for spite!!!
********They’re just the people next door… if you live in HELL!!

Oldest Chihuahua

Guinness World Records said a chihuahua in Florida named TobyKeith was dubbed the world’s oldest dog living at the age of 21 years and 66 days.  Gisela Shore of Greenacres said she adopted TobyKeith from a shelter when he was only a few months old.  “I was a volunteer at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue and one of the employees told me about an elderly couple trying to surrender a puppy because they could not take care of him any longer,” Shore told Guinness World Records.  “I met with the elderly couple and I was introduced to a tiny tan chihuahua. They had named him Peanut Butter. I later changed his name to TobyKeith,” she said.  Chihuahuas typically live to be 12-18 years old.

Road Sign Wheels Stolen

An Ontario county reprogrammed a digital sign parked at the side of a road with an urgent inquiry: “Have you seen my wheels?” The County of Wellington said in a Twitter post that the wheels from the digital sign’s trailer vanished while it was parked on the shoulder of Wellington Road 19 in Belwood.  The sign’s message was programmed to read, “Have you seen my wheels?”  The county said the sign was being used to warn drivers of their speed on the road when the wheels were apparently stolen.  “We’d happily welcome them back so we can move on and check speeds in another part of the county next week,” the tweet said.
*********The sign should read: “Slow Down.. and don’t steal my wheels!!”

Florida Man Watches Spider-Man Over and Over

A super hero super fan in Florida recaptured a Guinness World Records title when he went to see Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters 292 times.  Ramiro Alanis originally earned the Guinness title in 2019, when he attended 191 screenings of Avengers: Endgame, but his record was broken in 2021 when Arnaud Klein went to see Kaamelott: First Instalment 204 times.  Guinness confirmed Alanis recaptured the record when he attended 292 showings of the latest Spider-Man film between Dec. 16, 2021, and March 15, 2022.  Alanis said he is hoping the high number will keep his title safe.  “If anyone tries to break my record again, I want them to think twice before attempting it,” he told Guinness.  The record-keeping organization’s rules required Alanis to remain in his seat with his attention on the screen for the entire film, including the credits. He was not allowed to look at his phone or take bathroom breaks during the showings.
*********He also holds the record for the “Most Enlarged Bladder!!!”

Bear Breaks Into Car

A British Columbia man awoke to find his car had been mangled and enough evidence left behind to identify the culprit — a bear.  Michael Allison, of Trail, said when he got up, he had received message from his roommate saying something had happened to his car.  Allison went outside and found the metal frame of a back door had been bent and the window shattered.  The inside of the car was filled with scratch marks, and he found other signs that the vehicle had been invaded by a bear.  “We both immediately came to the assumption that it must be the bear because we see it so often. And I mean, what else can just rip the door off like that?” Allison told CTV News.  “There were very obvious bear prints right near where the door was shattered — and there was also some bear fur.”  He said the bear most likely was the same black bear seen frequently in his neighborhood.

4 Signs Your Perfectionism Is Becoming Toxic At Work

HUFFINGTON POST

  1. You only ruminate on what you didn’t do, which makes you unable to reflect on what you diddo.

If you can’t reflect on what you’ve accomplished, you are never going to be satisfied. For a perfectionist grading their job performance, “From 0 to 99 is bad. [The] 100 mark is acceptable,” explained Perpetua Neo, a psychologist and executive coach.

Perfectionists don’t take in compliments and they obsess over mistakes. And putting that unsustainable pressure on yourself is going to burn you out.

Under a perfectionist mindset, when you reach your goal, your next thought is only, “What’s next?” said New Jersey-based psychotherapist Angela Clack.  “They look at their competitor to see how they can do it better and the finish line just keeps moving further and further out until we burn out,” Clack said. “[They] never get to enjoy the moment of [their] wins.”  Burnout results from chronic workplace stress and can wreck your health in the long run. It’s associated with unending fatigue, headaches, insomnia, depressive symptoms, and other poor health outcomes.

That’s why it’s so important to ease up and take the time to feel good about what you did do after you finish a task. This self-awareness not only helps you reflect on your career but can also help ward off unhealthy perfectionist tendencies.

  1. You are overly worried about what will happen if you or your co-workers don’t reach your high standards.

For a meta-analysis published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, researchers from Miami University, the University of Florida and Georgia Tech analyzed 95 previous studies and found that there are two types of perfectionists: excellence-seeking perfectionists who demand excessively high standards for themselves and others, and failure-avoiding perfectionists who are “characterized by an obsessive concern about, and an aversion to, failing to reach extremely high performance standards,” study co-author and management professor Laurens Steed put it to HuffPost.

In other words, if you have meltdowns over the thought of not finishing an assignment to your standards, that’s a sign you could be a failure-avoiding perfectionist. And that’s a problem.  Steed’s study found that burnout, stress and anxiety were more strongly related to failure-avoiding perfectionism, while excellence-seeking perfectionism was more tied to benefits like motivation and engagement.

Overall, being a perfectionist did not improve job performance, regardless of which type a person was.  “Our results suggested that perfectionism is largely not helpful in the workplace. While being highly perfectionistic can yield some beneficial outcomes, these benefits can be offset with negative outcomes, and there was no overall performance effect,” Steed said.

  1. You keep missing deadlines because you don’t think your work is good enough.

Garcia said a sign that your perfectionism is doing more harm than good is when it doesn’t allow you to get anything done.  “You fine-tune work assignments over and over, deadlines get pushed because what you’re working on never feels good enough, or you may even have trouble starting a work task out of fear you will not be able to do it perfectly,” she said.  When you become notorious on your team for missing deadlines, you may gain an unflattering work reputation for being unreliable. Once that perception sticks, you will find it hard to advance in your career.

Garcia finds that perfectionism can not only lead to burnout but also frustration from your boss and co-workers and ongoing stress that carries over from work to your home life.  “If you are cranky, irritable, demanding or difficult to manage as an employee or even in leadership as a result of the inner struggle to be perfect, you will likely impact and influence the team members and co-workers connected to you, creating uncomfortable interactions,” Clack said.

  1. You don’t socialize because you are too worried about coming off as “not perfect.”

Neo said another sign that your perfectionism is becoming harmful is when you cannot truly listen or engage with colleagues or loved ones because you are too worried about upholding a perfect self-image.

“A person could let their perfectionism hold them back from being around their co-workers because if co-workers know the ‘real them’… nobody is going to like them,” she said. “They are incredibly pressured by themselves to put on this social mask.”

Psychologists have found that, along with perfectionists who set unrealistic standards for themselves, there are “socially prescribed” perfectionists that feel like impossible standards are being forced upon them by society or the people around them. Socially prescribed perfectionism has been associated with depression and other mental health conditions.  Gordon Flett, a psychologist who has researched this link, has said the reason socially prescribed perfectionists may have poor health outcomes is that this kind of perfectionism “has an element of pressure combined with a sense of helplessness and hopelessness,” he told the American Psychological Association. Socially prescribed perfectionists tend to feel that “the better I do, the better I’m expected to do,” he said.  If you are wondering whether your perfectionism is helping or hurting your career, Neo said, ask yourself: “Is it making your life shrink? Is it making you unhappy, anxious, basically a shadow of who you are? [Do you feel like] there is a growing chasm between the person you are presenting on the outside, but inside you are feeling like things are going to crumble at any time?”

If any of your answers are yes, perfectionism is no longer serving you, and you should consider redefining your standards to “good enough,” she said.
