Simon Cowell Breaks His Back In Bike Crash
Simon Cowell’s representative said he was hospitalized Saturday after injuring his back in a bicycle riding accident. “Simon has broken his back and will be having surgery this evening,” Cowell’s spokesperson says. “Simon had a fall from his bike on Saturday afternoon whilst testing his new electric bike in the courtyard at his house in Malibu with his family,” the representative added. “He hurt his back and was taken to the hospital. He’s doing fine, he’s under observation and is in the best possible hands.” Deadline.com, which also confirmed the incident with Cowell’s spokesperson, said it is unclear how his medical condition will impact the filming of AGT Season 16. The first live show for the new season was due to be broadcast live tomorrow (Tuesday).

Carole Baskin Goes After Cardi B
Big Cat Rescue founder Carole Baskin is not a fan of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s new music video, “WAP.” It’s not the racy content of the video that has provoked Baskin’s ire, but the use of superimposed big cats that’s warranted a statement from the impassioned conservationist, a TMZ report revealed. Baskin shared that she is concerned the music video glamorizes big cat ownership for the rich and could inspire impressionable fans to dabble in the exotic pet market, which doesn’t always have a happy ending from what she’s seen in her line of work. “No matter how you cut it, it’s always abusive to the cat and dangerous to the public,” she wrote. In the video, there are brief snippets of what appears to be orange and white tigers, as well as leopards, walking or posing. However, the cats don’t appear to actually have been on the set. Baskin shared that she is relieved the exotic cats don’t seem to be present in the room with the two rappers. “That being said, you have to pose a wildcat in front of a green screen to get that image and that doesn’t happen in the wild,” Baskin wrote. “It can’t happen in sanctuaries like ours where cats have plenty of room to avoid a green screen (or would shred it if offered access and could die from ingesting it). That tells me they probably dealt with one of the big cat pimps, probably even one of the ones shown in ‘Tiger King, Murder, Mayhem and Madness,’ who makes a living from beating, shocking and starving cats to make them stand on cue in front of a green screen in a studio. That’s never good for the cat.”

On Friday, Kanye posted a video that showed him recreating a viral video to celebrate the end of the workweek, with a little help from their 7-year-old daughter North. In the clip, after North asks her father what day it is, with a big smile on his face, West replies, “It’s Friday then!” and jumps out of their vehicle as “Push The Feeling On” by Nightcrawlers begins to play. Much to the delight of Kim, who can be heard laughing in the background, West goes on to bust out a few dance moves as North joins in on the fun. The family video comes as a source recently told PEOPLE that the pair are privately working to save their marriage. According to the source, the couple is currently in the Dominican Republic, where the “focus is on their marriage.”

While Prince William and Kate have remained cool to the couple, Charles has been talking to his son, now living in California, on a regular basis, and offering his support, both emotionally and financially. “They have a very strong and close father-and-son relationship. Many people have speculated that the book was the end for Harry and Meghan in Britain. Too many people were criticized and too many people attacked, including William and Kate,” one royal insider said. “But the Prince of Wales has made it clear the door is always open,” the source told the Sun. “Since [Harry’s] move to Los Angeles they have been in regular contact. Charles is not an avid user of texts but there are video and phone calls.” He has provided financial support, as any father would do when their son moves with a young family to the other side of the world. Introducing their annual list, the magazine says this year’s consists of “women of the moment who are leading us through 2020 with prescience, power and poise.” Highlighting the Queen’s historic television address in April, the editors praised the “pitch perfect message” which comforted a country “grappling with fear and grief” during lockdown. Mouse Catcher Retiring
Palmerston, the British Foreign Office’s famous feline “Chief Mouser,” announced he is retiring to “spend more time relaxing away from the limelight.” A letter addressed to Sir Simon McDonald, permanent under-secretary at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, was posted to the Palmerston’s official Twitter account to announce the cat’s retirement from hunting mice at the Foreign Office’s headquarters in London. Palmerston, named for two-time Prime Minister Viscount Palmerston, arrived at the office as a rescue in 2016 and quickly gained fame for catching mice and appearing in photos with visiting diplomats. The cat previously made headlines for clashes with Larry, the cat charged with catching mice for the prime minister at 10 Downing Street. The letter, written from the feline’s perspective, said Palmerston is retiring to live with a family in the British countryside.

Al Roker enlisted the help of 69 chefs and sandwich enthusiasts to break the Guinness World Record for most people in an online sandwich-making relay. The NBC Today weather anchor hosted a virtual Rokerthon event Thursday, working with a network of 69 participants including Jose Andres, Bobby Flay, Priya Krishna, Sandra Lee, Marcus Samuelsson, Andrew Zimmern, Elena Besser and Matt Abdoo. Each chef was required by Guinness to create a unique sandwich, and it had to be complete before the next participant began making their own sandwich. “The mark to beat was 50 participants,” Guinness adjudicator Michael Empric said in making the announcement. “Today, you have achieved 69. A South Korean suffered a significant loss after sending bank notes through a washing machine in an attempt to eliminate any coronavirus traces, according to The Associated Press. The Bank of Korea gave the person about 23 million won ($19,320) in an exchange for the mangled money. But bank official Seo Jee Woun said the losses still were “considerable.” The bank said another coronavirus-fearing person incurred less significant losses after attempting to clean currency in a microwave.

Wild Boar Steals Naked Man’s Computer
A naked sunbather gave chase after a wild boar stole his laptop while he was relaxing by a Berlin lake in an escapade that has gone viral. The man was pictured running after it at the Teufelssee lake, a popular spot for nude sunbathing. Adele Landauer, the Berlin-based life coach who took the pictures, shared them on her Instagram account on Friday, describing the man as a “real hero.” “A female wild boar with two babies came out of the forest in order to search for food,” she wrote. “Many of us were scared but the wild boars seemed to be peaceful. “After they ate a pizza from a backpack of a man who was taking a swim in the lake they were looking for a dessert. They found this yellow bag and decided to take it away.” The owner of the bag immediately leapt up in pursuit, since the bag had his laptop inside. “Every one of us adored him, how focused he stayed, and when he came back with his yellow bag in hand we all clapped and congratulated him for his success,” Landauer wrote.
