White Chicks 2?

White Chicks writer, producer and star Marlon Wayans hopes to make a sequel to the 2004 movie.  He discussed the possibility of a White Chicks 2 during Thursday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live.  White Chicks starred Wayans and his brother Shawn Wayans as Marcus and Kevin Copeland, two Black FBI agents who go undercover as White women. The film was directed by Wayans’ brother Keenen Ivory Wayans. He was asked what it was like to meet socialites Nicky and Paris Hilton after people speculated the White Chicks characters were based on the sisters.  “Well, it was really cool meeting Nicky and Paris,” Wayans said. “I’ve known them for years — we used to actually party together, and me and my brothers always watched them party and be like, ‘We should put them in a movie one day.’ So they was kind of the inspirations behind the characters we did in White Chicks.”  “I hope we do a White Chicks 2,” he added. “I think it’d be a great film. The world needs it.”

JLo Wipes ARod From Social Media

Jennifer Lopez has further cemented her rekindled relationship with Ben Affleck by deleting every trace of most recent ex, Alex Rodriguez, from her Instagram.  Followers took note Saturday that her social media feed had been slightly revamped, with photos of ex-fiancé A-Rod all having been removed from her account.  This includes shots of the exes together during President Joe Biden’s inauguration, where J. Lo performed “This Land Is Your Land” and “America the Beautiful.” Photos and clips of the star alone during the event, however, remain.  She also unfollowed him on Instagram.  Meanwhile, A-Rod is living the single life and doing it big, cruising around St. Tropez, Monaco, Spain and Italy with sports reporter Melanie Collins and their mutual friends Jessie James Decker and Eric Decker, all in celebration of his 46th birthday.  Friends say that ARod is “single and having fun” — and just “friends” with Collins, despite rumors.

Taylor Swift Stalker Busted

A Nebraska man who has apparently been pining for Taylor Swift for years was busted Friday trying to get into the singer’s TriBeCa apartment building.  Patrick Nissen, 28, of Lincoln, was arrested inside the vestibule of the Manhattan building after a security guard reported the man trespassing around 7:55 a.m., according to police sources.  He was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing, sources said.  A Twitter account of Nissen’s, which has been inactive for the past six years, professed his undying love for her.  “Now searching for the love of my life. Taylor swift[siq] is one of those people I feel like I could connect with and fall in love with. Ready to conquer Death. LOVE,’’ Nissen’s profile reads.  He added in a February 2015 tweet, “Trying to be faithful after all I’ve been through I love @taylorswift13 she needs to come get me. I’m breaking down and freaking out.’’  Two years earlier, Nissen urged people on the site to vote for Swift as their favorite singer, adding, “Taylor Swift … hoping that we meet in a coffee shop.”  Minutes before Nissen allegedly got into Swift’s building Friday, he had been “sitting down, just wobbling his head, and started yelling at himself,” an onlooker said.

Travis Barker Gets On Plane For The First Time

Travis Barker has gotten on a plane for the first time since his deadly 2008 plane crash. According to photos obtained by TMZ, the Blink-182 rocker and his girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian flew to Cabo on Saturday.  Photos show the hot-and-heavy couple leaving Los Angeles in Kylie Jenner’s private jet and also deplaning once they landed safely in Mexico. The outlet reports that Kris Jenner and Cory Gamble were also on board.  Back in 2008, Barker was in a plane leaving South Carolina when it caught fire, killing two pilots as well as Barker’s assistant and security guard. Barker and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein survived with severe burns, but Goldstein died a year later from a drug overdose.

Meghan Working With Kate For Netflix

Despite previous reports of tension between the two, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton could soon be collaborators on a new Netflix doc, according to sources.  “Meghan and Kate are actually getting along really well and have been in touch more often,” a source revealed to Us Weekly Friday. “Meghan has been talking to her about collaborating on a project for Netflix, a documentary that will spotlight Kate’s charity work and the huge impact she’s made with her philanthropy.”  “Kate is very flattered, and it’s all very positive between them,” the insider added.  Sources close to the royal family have denied the report.  Markle and Prince Harry, signed a multi-year deal with Netflix last fall, with intentions to develop, “documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming.”  Their first project will center on the Invictus Games, which gives sick and injured military personnel and veterans the opportunity to compete in sports. The pair is also set to produce a family-focused animated series about a 12-year-old girl’s adventures, tentatively titled “Pearl.”

Johnny Depp Says He’s Being Boycotted

Johnny Depp has said he is being boycotted by Hollywood after his latest film is yet to be released in the US.  In a new interview with The Sunday Times focused on his latest film Minamata, he says his public image is getting in the way of the movie being released in US cinemas. The film follows photojournalist W. Eugene Smith (played by Depp), as he documents the effects of industrial pollution on Minamata residents in the ’70s.  Speaking to the paper, Depp said he “looked [those] people in the eyeballs” and promised the film would not exploit the real tragedies that took place.  “Some films touch people… and this affects those in Minamata and people who experience similar things,” Depp told The Times. “And for anything… for Hollywood’s boycott of, erm, me? One man, one actor in an unpleasant and messy situation, over the last number of years?” According to The Times, it is the first interview Depp has had with the press following his libel case against News Group Newspapers, publishers of The Sun, which he ultimately lost. The actor took News Group Newspapers and The Sun’s executive editor Dan Wootton to court over an April 2018 article that referred to him as a “wife beater” in relation to allegations from ex-wife Amber Heard, which Depp has strongly denied.

Clooney Clan’s Italian Disaster-(Globe)

George Clooney and his family were trapped by devastating floods and mudslides that hit while they vacationed at their Italian villa.  Tree trunks and rocks rushed down a nearby mountainside and swept past the A-lister’s home on Lake Como on July 27.  George, 60, his wife, Amal, 43, and their four-year-old twins, Elia and Alexander, escaped unhurt.  The Ocean’s Eleven star’s mansion also suffer no damage.  But “it’s so much worse than anybody thinks,” says George.

Guy Finds Money Taped Under Fridge

Police in South Korea said they are investigating after a man bought a used kimchi fridge online and found $130,000 cash taped to the bottom.  Police on Jeju Island said the man filed a police report Aug. 6 saying he was cleaning the recently-delivered fridge when he found the cash stash taped to the bottom of the appliance.  Investigators said they are working to identify the online seller of the refrigerator and are talking to the people involved in its transportation and delivery.  South Korea’s Lost and Found Act states the cash will become the property of the man who bought the fridge if the rightful owner can’t be tracked down. The money will become the property of the state if it is found to have been involved in a crime.

Expensive Royal Cake

A slice of cake from Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ 1981 wedding has been auctioned for $2,565.  Private collector Gerry Layton from Leeds, England purchased the slice through Dominic Winter Auctioneers located in Cirencester, England.  The slice of cake weighs about 28 ounces and was preserved inside plastic wrap and a cake tin.  The slice features a coat-of-arms design, along with decorative icing. It comes from one of the 23 official cakes that were made for the royal wedding and was given to Morya Smith, an employee of the Queen Mother at Clarence House at the time.  The item was sold to Dominic Winter Auctioneers on behalf of Smith’s family in 2008.

Back To School Shopping Turns Into Lottery Win

A Florida man said doing some back-to-school shopping for his daughter led him to buying the scratch-off lottery ticket that earned him a $1 million jackpot.  Cleveland Pope of Brooksville, told Florida Lottery officials he was looking for school supplies when he made a stop at the Beverage 50 store in Brooksville.  “I just happened to be on a different side of town from where I normally buy Lottery tickets, all because I was looking for a specific backpack for my daughter to start school with,” Pope said.  Pope purchased a Billion Dollar Gold Rush Supreme scratch-off ticket, and it turned out to be a $1 million top prize winner.  The winner chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $880,000.

Florida Man Threatens Disney

A Florida man was arrested for making threats against Disney on Twitter.  The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said 31-year-old Steven Jordan was arrested for threatening to throw, place, or discharge a destructive device.  Detectives assigned to the Threat Management Section were notified by the Central Florida Intelligence Exchange of threats made on Twitter. Jordan created a Twitter account on Aug. 8 and made a total of 186 tweets within a three-hour period.  PCSO detectives said two of these tweets were directed at Walt Disney World and said, “@Disney or we will blow up all of your execs houses with C4” and “@Disney I will toss a hand grenade threw their loft window.”  Twitter suspended Jordan’s account on Aug. 9, investigators said.  Jordan was also convicted in 2019 for making a false report about planting a bomb, explosive, or weapon of mass destruction, according to detectives.

Surprising Baby Name Trends That Happened In 2020

Social Security Administration

 

1. Ezekiel is more popular than Robert.

In 2020, 5,013 baby boys were named Ezekiel, making it the 65th most popular choice for boys. Meanwhile, Robert ranked at No. 80, with 4,349 newborn baby Roberts.

 

2. Nova is more popular than Hannah.

Nova is a Top 50 baby name for girls, with 4,940 little Novas born in 2020. The name currently ranks at No. 38, one spot above Hannah. Last year, 4,910 baby girls were named Hannah.

 

3. Denise is one of the fastest-rising baby names for girls.

The name Denise rose 522 places in 2020 from the previous year, to No. 872, breaking back into the Top 1,000 after dropping off in 2016. The alternative spelling Denisse rose 942 spots, to No. 854, possibly due to the influence of reality show contestant Denisse Novoa.

 

4. Legend is more popular than George.

Despite its prominence in U.S. history and culture, George is not in the Top 100. The name ranks at No. 133 ― below less traditional names like No. 127 Legend, which went to 2,814 newborn boys in 2020. Only 2,746 boys were named George last year.

 

5. Fewer than 100 girls were named Britney, Shannon or Lacy last year.

In 2020, there were 99 newborn baby girls named Britney, 98 Shannons and 69 Lacys. The first two fell out of the Top 1,000 ranking after 2013, and Lacy dropped off in 2006.

 

6. Paisley is more popular than Julia.

In 2020, 4,333 baby girls were named Paisley, making it the 50th most popular girl name. Meanwhile, Julia is No. 107, with 2,485 newborn Julias in 2020.

 

7. Maverick is one of the top five names for boys in South Dakota.

The SSA’s data indicates that the top national names like Liam, Noah and Oliver tend to dominate on the state level, but there are some outliers. One is Maverick, which ranks at No. 49 nationally, but was the fourth most popular name for newborn boys in South Dakota last year.

 

8. Marissa is one of the fastest-declining names for girls.

The list of declining names tends to include less traditional choices and spellings like Jayde, Miah and Ariadne. But Marissa dropped 209 places last year on the popularity list, to No. 1,084 ― making it the second-biggest decliner from the year before for girls. It seems Marissa Cooper’s legacy is not living on.

 

9. Kinsley is more popular than Anna.

Kinsley is the 59th most popular name for girls, while Anna is No. 68. In 2020, 3,744 baby girls were named Kinsley, while there were 3,479 newborn Annas.

 

10. The SSA tracked over 3,400 more names for girls than for boys.

The SSA’s baby names data includes every name given to at least five baby boys or girls in a given year. The 2020 list includes 17,360 girl names and 13,911 boy names ― indicating a tendency for parents to get more creative with their daughters’ names than with their sons’.

 

11. Fewer than 200 boys were named Randall or Perry last year.

In 2020, there were 187 newborn baby boys named Randall and 146 named Perry. By 2019, both had fallen out of the Top 1,000 rankings.

 

12. Serenity is more popular than Lauren.

Serenity didn’t enter the Top 1,000 until 1997, and rose to No. 70 in 2020, with 3,366 baby girls named Serenity. The classic Lauren fell to No. 232, with only 1,269 baby Laurens born last year.

 

13. Dior is one of the fastest-rising names for boys.

You might think that a name associated with a luxury fashion line would be more likely to make waves on the list of popular names for girls (a la Chanel). But when it comes to Dior, the impact is true for both girls and boys. In 2020, the name rose 434 spots to 868 on the boys’ list and 108 spots to No. 499 for girls.

 

14. Axel is more popular than Adam.

Adam peaked at No. 18 in the 1980s, but now it’s down to No. 96, with 3,751 baby Adams born in 2020. Axel, however, ranks at No. 72, with 4,628 boys named Axel born last year.

 

15. Toby is one of the fastest-declining names for boys.

Much to Michael Scott’s delight (or so we imagine), Toby was the eighth-biggest decliner for baby boys’ names in 2020. Toby dropped from No. 954 to No. 1142, with only 169 baby boys with that name last year.

 

16. Genesis is more popular than Amy.

With 3,654 baby girls named Genesis in 2020, the name ranks at No. 62. That makes Genesis more popular than the classic Amy, which ranked at No. 216 and went to 1,326 baby girls last year ― as well as former top names like Mary (now No. 124 ― 2,188 in 2020) and Margaret (No. 126 ― 2,178).
