Jeremy Renner Update

Jeremy Renner shared a photo on Instagram Saturday showing him undergoing physical therapy in a hospital-style bed near a window.  He is laying down and wearing shorts with his bare legs and feet visible.  He sustained life-threatening injuries to his chest, head and legs when his snowplow ran over him while he was helping a motorist stuck in the snow near his house in Nevada on Jan. 1.  “I want to thank EVERYONE for their messages and thoughtfulness for my family and I …. Much love and appreciation to you all. These 30 plus broken bones will mend, grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens. Love and blessings to you all.”  The post got more than 650,000 “likes” in the first hour it was online.  See the post HERE.

Cobra Kai Coming To An End

Cobra Kai‘s sixth season will be its last, the series’ creators announced Friday. Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg shared a letter with fans on Friday.  “Reacquainting the world with The Karate Kid universe has been our humble honor,” the letter said. “Making Cobra Kai has allowed us to join the same hallowed dojo once inhabited by the great Robert Mark Kamen, John Avildsen, Jerry Weintraub, and all the amazing original cast members. It has also enabled us to play sensei, expanding the original storylines and birthing a new generation of underdogs. We’ve never once taken this opportunity for granted.  The Netflix show starring Ralph Macchio and William Zabka takes up where The Karate Kid film left off. In the series set 30 years later, the tensions between Daniel LaRusso (Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) continue to fester.  Last season, Cobra Kai notched 95 and 105 hours of views in consecutive weeks.  The trailer for Cobra Kai Season 5, which counts Will Smith and Overbrook Entertainment among its executive producers, promises the “biggest and baddest season yet,” but it will be the final one.

Arnold Gets New Book Deal

Arnold Schwarzenegger has landed a book deal with Penguin Press.  He has already previously penned a memoir, “Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story,” which was published a decade ago in 2012.  There was buzz in the publishing world that Nils Parker, the ghostwriter and journalist who has collaborated on book projects with comedian Ralphie May, Tucker Max and YouTuber GloZell Green, was on board to co-write the book with Arnold.  But an insider familiar with the project says that the co-writer for the motivational book is not yet confirmed.  Schwarzenegger has previously written a slew of bodybuilding guides, including “Arnold: Education of a Body Builder,” “The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding” and “Arnold’s Bodybuilding for Men.”

King Charles Coronation Details

King Charles III’s coronation outfit is going to “break away from tradition” and steer clear of the “dated” look of the past, according to reports.  He will be formally crowned on May 6 following his ascension to the throne in September after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.  And while the royals have always stuck true to their centuries-old traditions, it seems as though the King is looking to switch things up to keep up with the times.  In previous coronations, the monarch traditionally wore silk stockings and breeches — often worn for horse riding.  But a source told The Sun that Charles will don his military uniform on the big day in a bid to represent the “modern 21st-century monarchy.”  While Buckingham Palace has remained somewhat tight-lipped about the upcoming extravaganza, it did tease that the crowning will be a scaled-back affair.  Taking place at Westminster Abbey, the 74-year-old’s coronation will “reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in long-standing traditions and pageantry,” Buckingham Palace has previously said.

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin Gets Married

Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, who became the second person to ever set foot on the moon in 1969, following crewmate Neil Armstrong, married his “longtime love” on his 93rd birthday on Friday.  He announced his nuptials on Twitter.  “On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot,” Aldrin wrote. “We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers.” He posted two photos of himself in a tuxedo and Faur in a long-sleeved glittering dress.  Aldrin also thanked fans for their birthday wishes in another Friday tweet. “It means a lot and I hope to continue serving a greater cause for many more revolutions around the sun,” he wrote.

Prince Harry Trashes Graceland

In his new autobiography, “Spare,” Prince Harry described being unimpressed with Graceland, former home of the late Elvis Presley.  “People variously called the house a castle, a mansion, a palace. But it reminded me of the badger sett,” Prince Harry wrote. “Dark, claustrophobic. I walked around saying, ‘The King lived here, you say? Really?’”  Elvis lived at Graceland from June 26, 1957, until his death Aug. 16, 1977. In the book, Prince Harry wrote that whoever picked out the decor of the famous residence must have been on drugs.  Prince Harry recalled, “I stood in one tiny room with loud furniture and shag carpet and thought, ‘The King’s interior designer must have been on acid.’”  The popular tourist attraction attracts more than 600,000 visitors a year, according to the property, and features some 200,000 square feet of entertainment space, restaurants, gift shops and more.
*******OK, NOW he’s done it!! You can trash King Charles, but you CANNOT come to America and trash Elvis!!
*******Prince Harry is now officially the whiney little b*tch of the century!!!

STUPID NEWS

Did Santa Eat These Cookies?

A Rhode Island police department said it has granted the request of a young resident to have the remains of a cookie and some carrots DNA tested to determine if Santa Claus bit them.  The Cumberland Police Department said in a news release it received a letter this month from “a young investigator” seeking to have a partially-eaten Oreo cookie and some baby carrot sticks DNA tested to identify whether they were indeed eaten by Santa Claus on Dec. 25.  “This young lady obviously has a keen sense for truth and the investigative process and did a tremendous job packaging her evidence for submission. We will do our very best to provide answers for her,” Chief Matthew J. Benson said in the release.  The food was passed along to the State of Rhode Island’s Department of Health Forensic Sciences Unit for analysis, Benson said.  Benson said the department already provided the girl with some “uncovered evidence in support of Santa Claus’ presence in her neighborhood” — a photo of a deer in the area on Christmas Eve.

Oldest Person

Guinness World Records said a woman in Spain is now the oldest person living at age 115.  The record-keeping organization said María Branyas Morera, who lives in Catalonia, Spain, was verified Thursday as being 115 years and 321 days old.  Morera became the oldest person living and oldest woman living following the death of French nun Lucile Randon, aka Sister Andre, at age 118 on Tuesday.  Morera was born in San Francisco on March 4, 1907, and moved to Spain with her family at age 8.  Morera, who has lived at the Residència Santa María del Tura nursing home for the past 22 years, remains in good health, representatives at the facility said in a statement to Guinness World Records.  The super-centenarian has a Twitter account she keeps updated with help from her daughter. Toadzilla

Rangers at a national park in Queensland, Australia, found a massive 5.9-pound cane toad that they said might be the largest ever on record.  The Queensland Department of Environment and Science said in a post on its website that Conway National Park rangers stopped their vehicle for a snake crossing a road near Airlie Beach and spotted a “monster cane toad” nearby.  “I reached down and grabbed the cane toad and couldn’t believe how big and heavy it was,” ranger Kylee Gray said.  The rangers nicknamed their discovery “Toadzilla” and removed it from the park due to the danger it could pose to the environment.  “A cane toad that size will eat anything it can fit into its mouth, and that includes insects, reptiles and small mammals,” Gray said.  She said the toad, believed to be a female, weighed in at 5.9 pounds, which could be a new record for the species.

Burning Ghost Train

Authorities in southern Germany say efforts to put out a fire on a train turned into a spectacular chase early Friday after the driverless diesel engine began taking off toward Austria of its own accord.  Firefighters had been called to put out a train blaze near the village of Strass at about 3 a.m. (0200 GMT), the Bavarian Red Cross said. But shortly before they arrived the engine started moving downhill on the sloping track, picking up speed as it rolled several kilometers toward the town of Freilassing.  A video posted online by the Freilassing Volunteer Firefighting Company showed flames and smoke pouring from the train as it swept through the town.  With firefighters in hot pursuit, railway officials managed to switch the “ghost train” onto a side track near Freilassing station where it was stopped by a buffer before it could cross the border.

The Rudest Things You Can Do In A Group Fitness Class

HUFFINGTON POST

Arriving late

“Arrive a few minutes early to find your spot and be sure you are ready when the instructor is ready to start,” advised Jodi R.R. Smith, president of Mannersmith Etiquette Consulting.  You disrupt the class when you get there late, so some studios even have late-arrival policies. Don’t assume they’ll make an exception for you. Be mindful if you might have to leave early as well.

“Plan to stay to the very end,” Leighton said. “But if you do need to leave the class early for some reason, a front row yoga mat isn’t for you. Take a spot closest to the door that’ll minimize the disruption.”

Chatting with your friends during class

Attending a fitness class with your friends can be an enjoyable activity, but that doesn’t mean it’s the right time to socialize.

“Make lengthy small talk after or before class,” advised Diane Gottsman, an etiquette expert, author of “Modern Etiquette for a Better Life” and founder of the Protocol School of Texas. “Talking over the instructor during the class is rude, as well as distracting.”

Hogging the water station

Most fitness studios offer water stations to keep people hydrated. Refrain from taking more than you need, however.  “When filling up your water bottle before class, ask yourself if you’ll really be drinking 128 ounces in the next hour or if maybe you don’t actually need to fill up your entire gallon-size jug while a long line of people forms behind you,” Leighton said.

Keeping your phone on

Ideally, you can keep your phone in a locker or otherwise stow it away during class. But if you need to have it in the room with you, don’t keep the volume on!

“Nothing kills the vibe faster than someone’s phone going off,” Leighton said. “If you need to keep an eye on your phone during class, keep it on silent and take a spot in the back of the room closest to the door if you need to make a quick exit to take a call.”

Saving spots for your late friends

“Don’t put down towels or mats to hold space for someone who is running late,” Gottsman said. “Chances are they aren’t going to arrive at all and someone else will miss a prime spot.”

Smith similarly advised against “saving” spots or machines for your friends at the gym, especially since space is often limited.  “Many gyms now assign locations to avoid this ongoing issue,” she noted.

Monopolizing the instructor’s time

Remember that a group fitness class is different from a personal training session. Don’t use everyone’s workout time to have your own conversation with the instructor.

“Asking questions about form or to avoid injury are acceptable,” Smith said. “Monopolizing the instructor’s time is not.”

Not being mindful of space

“Your participation should not overtly impact others,” Smith said. “Yes, there are times to cheer, sweat, and move, but excessive grunting, sweating, or bumping into others’ space should be avoided.”  Be mindful of the studio’s size as you move around ― and even as you prepare for class.

“Here in New York, especially in winter time, our studios aren’t often big enough for everybody plus their gym bags plus their coats,” Leighton said. “Bring just the essentials into the studio whenever possible.”

Sporting offensive slogans

People’s workout clothes and water bottles often have words on them ― and you should be mindful about what might be printed on your gear.

“Be aware of any slogans on your workout wear,” Smith said. “Avoid pictures and/or slogans which could be offensive to others ― racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, antisemitic, or even fatphobic images are best avoided.”

Ignoring the instructor’s movement

Gottsman pointed to the importance of trying to follow directions as closely as possible ― at least within reason.   “While you are encouraged to exercise at your own pace, doing something completely different means you might be better in a different group,” she said. “In other words, people behind you often follow your lead and doing a samba instead of a downward dog shows you are not closely aligned with the class you chose.”

Not wiping down equipment

Before you leave, you’ll need to wipe down the mats or pieces of equipment you were sweating all over, unless the studio tells you otherwise. This is one important way to show consideration to the people in the next class.  “In busy venues, be sure to gather your belongings, wipe down any equipment and exit quickly to allow the next class to begin on time,” Smith said.

Being unsupportive of others

“This is not middle school,” Smith emphasized. “Bodies come in all shapes and sizes. And people attend classes at all levels of fitness. Endeavor to be inclusive and supportive.”

Even if you’re a regular at a particular class and feel more comfortable, don’t forget to be friendly to everyone.  “People tend to make friends with people in their fitness class, but don’t leave out new people who are joining,” Gottsman urged. “If you see them struggle to find the location for equipment or look like they might have a question, reach out and offer help.”
