T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach Out At ABC
ABC News has announced that Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are officially out as co-hosts of the daytime program, GMA3: What You Need To Know. “After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News,” a company representative said in a statement Friday. “We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.” The pair, who are married to other people, have been off the air since early December when they were rumored to be having an affair. Robach has also lost her job as co-anchor of 20/20. ABC News President Kim Godwin updated staff on the situation by email Friday. “I want to share with you that we’ve reached a decision about T.J. and Amy,” Godwin said. “I know that this has been a distraction for so many of us, but let’s not forget all the great work that continues to make ABC News the No. 1 news network in America, and that’s because of you,” she added. “I want to thank you again for your patience and professionalism during this time.”

Jay Leno Breaks Bones In Motorcycle Crash
Jay Leno’s show “Jay Leno’s Garage’ has been canceled after an accident on a motorcycle. In November, he was fixing a fuel line on a classic car — the 1907 White Steam, when the car caught on fire. Leno suffered second-degree burns and was hospitalized. Leno had another accident earlier this month, this time on a motorcycle when he passed through a parking lot with a low-hanging wire. He says he broke several bones in the crash. “Just last week, I got knocked off my motorcycle. So I’ve got a broken collarbone. I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps,” Leno told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “But I’m OK!” he added. “I’m OK, I’m working. I’m working this weekend.” CNBC sources confirmed to Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter and People that his show Jay Leno’s Garage has been canceled.

Lisa Marie’s Will Contested
Priscilla Presley has contested “the authenticity and validity” of Lisa Marie Presley’s will. She filed documents in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, challenging a “purported 2016 amendment” to the will, which ousted her as a trustee. According to the documents, Priscilla asked a judge to determine the validity of the amendment, which named Lisa Marie’s eldest daughter, Riley Keough, and her late son, Benjamin Keough, as successor co-trustees. The amendment allegedly removed Lisa Marie’s former business manager, Barry Siegel, along with Priscilla from the trust, leaving Riley the sole trustee after her brother died by suicide in 2020. Priscilla alleges in the docs that her daughter’s signature on the 2016 document “appears inconsistent with her usual and customary signature,” further arguing that Lisa Marie’s name had even been spelled wrong. She also claimed that the document was never notarized, and had not been delivered to her during Lisa Marie’s lifetime, as laid out in the terms of the 2010 trust arrangement. Priscilla – who is the former wife of the late Elvis Presley – went on to note that she believes Siegel “has already or will soon resign as a co-trustee of the Trust.”

Prince Harry May Attend Coronation
King Charles has reportedly asked the Archbishop of Canterbury to broker a deal between his two warring sons so Prince Harry can attend his Coronation. The King asked Justin Welby — who will officiate the Coronation — to help mediate tensions between the brothers ahead of the celebration in May, senior sources close to Lambeth Palace told the Daily Mail. Insiders have said Prince William wants his younger brother and his wife Meghan Markle far from Westminster Abbey following the release of Prince Harry’s bombshell tell-all memoir, “Spare.” The heir to the throne reportedly fears the drama-embroiled couple will overshadow King Charles’ monumental moment. King Charles, however, believes the couple’s absence will only cause more drama than their attendance, insiders said — despite previously claiming he had “no appetite” to engage with Harry. In exchange for their presence, the King is reportedly willing to offer them a high-profile seating position in the Abbey or an informal assurance that he will be able to keep his titles, sources told the Mail.

Avatar Reaches More Milestones
“Avatar: The Way of Water” is still number one at the box office, seven weeks after its release. On Friday, it took in $3.57 million in sales. That lifted it past “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” to become the fourth highest grossing movie ever worldwide. Director James Cameron can now claim three films in the top four movie sales of all time with the original “Avatar” in the number one spot and “Titanic” at number three. “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” on Friday moved up a notch from last week, jumping its way to second place with $2.43 million. The “Shrek” spinoff is now available to stream on Prime Video.

Fancy cat! Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson walked the red carpet with his feline costar Seagol, who showed up to a special screening of their new movie, A Man Called Otto, wearing a black tie. While the fluffy furball certainly looked adorable, director Marc Forster joked that keeping track of the cat was by far the “toughest” challenge they faced during filming. “Sometimes Seagol just left set and walked off,” said Marc. “[Filming] Smeagol was much harder than the child stars, or anything else.”

Fish Spends Money
A Japanese YouTuber created a custom setup to allow his pet fish to play Pokémon on his Nintendo Switch, but a malfunction led to the fish spending money at the eShop and revealing its owner’s credit card information on live stream. YouTuber Mutekimaru, aka Maurice, runs a channel on the video sharing site where his fish plays various games in the Pokémon franchise. The betta fish controls the game by swimming to different areas of its tank, which have been outfitted with sensors that simulate pushing the buttons on Maurice’s Nintendo Switch. Maurice set up the system to live stream the fish playing Pokémon Violet, the latest entry in the series, but a malfunction during game play led to the Nintendo Switch returning to its home screen. From the home screen, the fish’s movements caused the Nintendo eShop to open and the pet spent $4 of its owner’s money to buy points. The fish also revealed Maurice’s credit card information on the live stream. The fish also managed to download an app to play Nintendo 64 games, spent reward currency on a new avatar, requested a confirmation email from PayPal and changed Maurice’s account name from “Mutekimaru” to “ROWAWAWAWA.” See the video HERE.

Snake Removed From Toilet
A snake catcher in Queensland, Australia, responded to a home to help with an unusual situation — a 4-foot snake in the toilet. Drew Godfrey of Hervey Bay Snake Catchers said his wife and fellow snake catcher, Katie Airey, responded to a Harvey Bay home recently where the owners found a snake in the bowl of their toilet. “They went to use the bathroom and found it when they lifted the toilet seat,” Godfrey told Newsweek. “I’d assume they were quite surprised.” A video posted to the snake catching business’ YouTube channel shows Airey removing the 4-foot common tree snake from the commode. Oldest Mouse
Officials with the San Diego Zoo said it is seeking Guinness World Records recognition for a Pacific pocket mouse believed to be the oldest in the world at the age of 9. The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, which operates the zoo, said a Pacific pocket mouse named Pat — in honor of actor Patrick Stewart — is believed to be the oldest living mouse in the world at the age of 9 years and 5 months. Pat was born at the zoo on July 12, 2013, and the wildlife alliance said it will hold a special event Feb. 8 to celebrate the mouse’s longevity and attempt to secure the Guinness World Records title of oldest living mouse in human care. A GWR adjudicator is slated to attend the event to verify Pat’s age. The Pacific pocket mouse is the smallest species of mouse in North America, and the zoo established a breeding and reintroduction program for the species in 2012 to help offset population declines.

Home Intruder Caught Bathing With Clothes On
A man suspected of breaking into a Seattle home has refused to come clean about his intentions, even though police found him fully clothed in a bathtub filled with water. A woman returned to her home Friday night to find a window smashed and an unknown man inside the house, according to the Seattle Police Department. She remained outside the home and called police. Upon their arrival, officers instructed anyone inside to come out. When they got no reply, they went in to search the home — and found a suspect in a bathroom. “The man was clothed but very wet, and the bathtub was full of water,” police said in a statement.

What Oldest Siblings Bring Up Most In Therapy

Struggles With Perfectionism
With the oldest child, there is a lot of trial-and-error parenting — new parents are learning how to raise their firstborn and don’t yet have the knowledge that they’ll bring to raising their younger children, said Altheresa Clark, a licensed clinical social worker and the founder of Inspire4Purpose in Florida. This may mean oldest children have to deal with extreme parenting styles, like a strict upbringing with lots of rules and expectations. “So, how that translates to the oldest child, they now have to grow up and there are a lot of expectations. A lot of times [this creates a] Type A personality where they become perfectionists,” Clark said. Clark said she helps her oldest-sibling patients connect the dots and dismantle the perfectionist belief systems that have been with them for decades. “We’re helping them say, well, your parent was hard on you as the oldest child, which then translated as you had to be the best, you’re a perfectionist, you’re very self-critical.”
It’s important for oldest siblings to realize this connection to be easier on themselves when they don’t meet their high expectations, she said.
“If they don’t show up the way their parents enforced in them, they’re very, very hard on themselves,” Clark said.
Feelings Of Imposter Syndrome
When you’re very self-critical and constantly striving for more, it can be hard to ever feel like you’re good enough, which can lead to imposter syndrome, according to Clark.
When it comes to success or recognition, firstborn children may feel they “don’t deserve it because of this harsh self-critical analysis … because of their strict upbringing or the expectations that their parents had [for] them,” Clark said. She added that she especially sees this in her high-achieving Black clients.
Experiences With ‘Parentification’
According to Sagaram, many oldest children dealt with “parentification” starting at a young age. This means they were given adult responsibilities to help their parents who either worked a lot, were emotionally unavailable or physically unavailable. “So, having to take care of younger siblings, prepare their meals, put them to bed, watch them” are all examples of parentification, Sagaram said. What’s tough about this, though, is in many cultures, helping your parents out is innate, Clark said. Especially in BIPOC communities where “you are supposed to help your younger sibling — it’s just expected of you to serve in those roles,” Clark added.
Sagaram said children who are parentified grow into adults who aren’t able to fully relax, constantly worry about other people and always feel like they have to be caretakers for their loved ones. And this shows up in both men and women, Sagaram said.
Jealousy Toward Younger Siblings
Sagaram said oldest siblings often feel like they had to pave the way for their younger siblings and can feel like their little sister or brother has it easier. For older siblings, both Sagaram and Clark noted, this can lead to feelings of jealousy or resentment. Oldest siblings may be jealous of the ease younger siblings feel around certain situations — like bad grades or breaking curfew — and may wish they got to experience life that way, too. In the end, it can feel like unfair treatment for the oldest sibling.
Trouble Asking For Help
“Oldest siblings feel like they can’t rely on others for support, or they feel like they have to have it all figured out on their own,” Sagaram said. This affects work, relationships and all parts of an eldest child’s life, she said. “When I’m working with oldest children, it’s something we try to unlearn. Asking for help is OK; it doesn’t mean you’re weak in any way,” Sagaram noted. What’s more, oldest siblings who outwardly seem to have a handle on their professional and personal lives have a hard time expressing when they are feeling down, Clark said.
Oftentimes, when they do share their struggles, they are met with responses like “but you make good money; why are you upset?” This further forces eldest children to hide any mental struggles.
You Can’t Change Your Birth Order, But You Can Treat Your Struggles
“Birth order is definitely something a lot of people talk about on social media, and it does play a role in how we are as people and especially the relationship with our parents,” Sagaram said, but “it’s definitely not the only factor.”
If you have a strained relationship with people in your family and you want to blame your birth order, you can do that, but there are also ways to heal the relationship, she said. “We can’t change birth order. It’s something that we were born into — to dwell on something like that can cause more harm,” Sagaram said. Regardless of your birth order, it’s possible to have good and healthy relationships with your parents and your siblings, she said.
