Joe Exotic Gets One Year Knocked Off Sentence

Joe Exotic was re-sentenced to 21 years in prison in a murder-for-hire plot to knock off a rival.  Joseph Maldonado-Passage was originally sentenced to 264 months, of 22 years. U.S. District Judge shaved 12 months off that sentence to 252 months, of 21 years.  Physicians diagnosed Maldonado-Passage with prostate cancer in November but he delayed radiation treatment to get an earlier re-sentencing hearing.  An appeals court had ruled that U.S. District Judge Scott Palk erred during Maldonado-Passage’s original trial by not grouping together two murder-for-higher counts, opening the door for the re-sentencing. While the new sentencing guidelines allowed for Palk to lower Maldonado-Passage’s sentence to 17 years, he was not bound by them.

Jason Momoa Joins Fast & Furious Franchise

Jason Momoa is set to appear in the next Fast & the Furious action movie.  Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter and The Wrap reported the casting news Friday.  Plot details for F10 have not been disclosed, but Momoa is expected to play a villain.  Shooting on the movie is expected to begin this spring.  Set for release May 19, 2023, it will star Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez and Sung Kang.  The sequel follows 2021’s F9: The Fast Saga.  He also appears to be living in a pricey RV parked at a friend’s house in Los Angeles after his breakup with Lisa Bonet.  He was spotted looking quite comfortable around the $750,000 black camper van earlier this week. The RV is situated at his friend’s pad, near the Topanga Hills home where Bonet and their two kids live.

Prince Andrew Lashes Out At Gardener

Prince Andrew had a tantrum over damaged trees at his mother’s Windsor estate, lashing out at a female gardener just days after he’d been served court papers in his sex abuse case, a report said.  The lashing for the low-level staffer “was over the top” and left her “shaken and upset,” according to the UK Sun.  He is facing allegations he had sex with Virginia Roberts Giuffre three times when she was 17, at the behest of the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and Epstein’s now-convicted partner, Ghislaine Maxwell.  “Andrew is under a great deal of stress but it’s no reason to take it out on staff doing their job. She had nothing to do with the damage and felt it was unfair. After all, it’s only a few saplings,” a source told the outlet.  The gardener was one of several working on young saplings at the Windsor compound when the “over the top” October incident took place, the source said.

Kanye Accuses Pete Davidson Of Having AIDS

Kanye West may be spreading unfounded rumors that Pete Davidson is gay and has AIDS.  He first made his disdain for estranged wife Kim Kardashian’s new boyfriend known when he threatened him in his new track “Eazy,” rapping, “God saved me from that crash / Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass.”  But now sources tell us that West, 44, has escalated this one-sided feud by spreading the rumors to anyone who will listen.  Our sources also alleged that West, who is very publicly dating actress Julia Fox, is telling people that Davidson is a junkie in addition to threatening that he’s going to have him beaten up. A source close to West, however, called the claims “nonsense,” while a source close to Davidson says, “He’s ignoring all of the Kanye hate out of respect for Kim.”  DJ Akademiks’ comments on Twitch last week says that Kanye is “going crazy with himself.”  “A n—a told me, this is real talk, Kanye has been telling anyone within an earshot of himself, he’s trying to spread a rumor that Pete Davidson has AIDS. I’m telling you this is a fact. I’ve heard this from eight people. He’s telling everybody!”  The DJ added, “I’m telling you, this is a fact. Bruh, if you gotta spread a rumor that the n—a f–kin’ your wife got AIDS, you burnt out, bro. Wrap it up. It’s over.”

Janet Jackson Was Banned From Michael’s Session

Janet Jackson said that Michael Jackson’s record company kept them apart when they filmed the music video for their smash duet “Scream.”  In her new A&E and Lifetime docuseries “Janet Jackson.,”  She got candid about her path to international stardom, struggles in her personal life, and behind-the-scenes details about her family.  Janet claimed that after Michael was accused of child sexual abuse in 1993, she attempted to support her brother despite her career being affected by the allegations. One such way was agreeing to collaborate with her brother on the 1995 single.  However, Janet said she and Michael were separated throughout production, which she called “tough.”  “Michael shot nights. I shot days. His record company would block off his set so that I couldn’t see what was going on. They didn’t want me on set,” Janet said. “I felt like they were trying to make it very competitive between the two of us.”  She continued that she was upset by the purported incident.  “That really hurt me because I felt I was there fighting the fight with him, not to battle him. I wanted it to feel like old times between he and I, and it didn’t. Old times had long passed,” she said.  The documentary is available to watch on Lifetime and A&E.

Adele’s Relationship Is Falling Apart

Adele is reportedly going through a rough patch in her relationship with beau Rich Paul due to which she couldn’t go on with her much-anticipated Las Vegas residency.  According to the New York Daily News, her personal life is not smooth as it seems as she was seen sobbing while talking on phone amidst her shows’ rehearsals.  A source spilled to the outlet, “There’s trouble in paradise. That’s why she can’t perform”, quoted The Sun.  They started going out at the beginning of 2021 and made their relationship Instagram official in September.  Meanwhile, she is facing massive backlash for cancelling her shows at the 11th hour.  She dropped a teary-eyed video to announce that the preparations couldn’t be done due to multiple factors related to Coivd-19 pandemic.  However, several reports started making rounds that Adele entered in multiple disputes with organizers and set designer of the event.

Aint no BS, AGT Judge/Deal or No Deal host Howie Mandel, 66, nabbed a deal of his own, hosting a brand-new Netflix TV competition show next summer called, wait for it, “Bullsh*t the Game Show.” And you don’t have to be a Jeopardy brainiac to play, just a really good liar!!! Giant Cake Pop

A pair of popular TikTokers teamed up in Massachusetts to cook a nearly 100-pound cake pop and break a Guinness World Record.  TikTok creators Nick DiGiovanni and Lynn Davis, aka Lynja, met up in Cambridge to make the 97-pound, 8.52-ounce cake pop.  The ingredients were 32 boxes of cake mix, 5 1/2 cartons of egg mix, 16 cups of oil, 16 blocks of cream cheese, 10 bags of powdered sugar, 35 cups of water, 2 sticks of butter, 5 cups of rainbow sprinkles, 6 teaspoons of meringue powder and 16 tablespoons of vanilla extract.  The finished dessert, which was dubbed the world’s largest cake pop by Guinness World Records, measured 50.75 inches in circumference and was attached to a 33-inch stick.  The chefs said they made sure none of their spherical confection went to waste.  See the video HERE.

Runaway Rail Car!

Authorities in Washington said a rail car broke away from a train and rolled nearly 16 miles on its own before being stopped.  The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office said the empty tank car broke away from a Columbia-Walla Walla Railroad train in Walla Walla and rolled to the Touchet area before being stopped by emergency responders.  Walla Walla County Undersheriff Joe Klundt, who posted video of the loose rail car to Twitter, said the tank car reached a top speed of about 50 mph while loose, but had slowed to about 3 mph after rolling up a steep hill near Touchet. Klundt said the reduced speed allowed a responder to climb aboard the car and apply the brake.    See the video HERE.

Snowman Sent In The Mail

A Florida teacher who discovered most of her students had never seen snow gave them an unusual surprise by having her sister mail the class a snowman.  Robin Hughes, a special education teacher at SouthShore Academy in Tampa, said she learned that only two of her kindergarten students had ever seen snow, so she contacted her sister, Amber Estes, who lives in Danville, Ky.  “So I said I want you to make me a snowman, and I want you to overnight him to me and see if he can make it to the school — because I want these children in Florida to see snow,” Hughes told WLEX-TV.  Estes said she seized the opportunity after a January snowstorm and built a snowman she dubbed “Lucky,” in the hopes that the frozen sculpture would make it to Florida before melting.  “So we put him inside the packaging, we wrapped him up in that foil, and we put ice packs in, we sealed him up, there was Styrofoam around the box. Off he went down to the local ups store,” Estes said.  See the video HERE.

Bald Eagle Crashes Thru Window

A bald eagle crashed through the front window of a Pennsylvania home and was able to fly away before being captured, an animal rescuer said.  Kathy Uhler, director of the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, said police responded to the Whitehall Township home about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and found the front window of the home shattered and the bald eagle on the ground.  “More than likely, he was seeing a reflection of the sky or simply light and felt that he could continue through it,” Uhler told WFMZ-TV.  Police contacted a wildlife expert to come collect the bird, but it flew off before they arrived.  Uhler said it is unusual for an eagle to crash through a window, but birds colliding with windows is distressingly common.  “We’re losing like a billion birds a year to window collisions, it’s not a small problem,” Uhler said.  Uhler said ultraviolet coating can help birds avoid windows.

A LIST FOR MONDAY

  1. Ask for help.

When I’m overwhelmed or I’ve suddenly picked up a bunch of responsibilities on top of everything I have, I first sit down and try to organize everything by importance.  This is actually the hard part ― not because of the organizing, that’s easy ― [but] stopping to try to take in the full scope of my work. Sometimes it feels like it’s silly to stop working in order to start working again, especially when you might be behind or overwhelmed. But it’s important to stop, take a break, get a little mental clarity. Take a walk, drink a big glass of water, make sure you’ve eaten today.

Once you’re refreshed, come back and try to arrange your tasks and to-dos by priority, importance (two different things!) and delegation.

And when I say “delegation,” I don’t just mean stuff you can ask other people do to. I mean stuff you can negotiate more time for, or ask your manager to take off your plate because you’re overwhelmed, or get a friend or colleague to lend a hand with.

And that’s important, too: Don’t be afraid to ask for help! So many of us get into the headspace that we have to be masters of all of our duties and do everything on our own or else it’ll reflect poorly on us, and that’s not fair to us or the people we work with. Whether you have the psychological safety to ask for help is a whole different question, obviously, but if you do, ask for it! I can’t tell you how many managers I’ve had who saw me running myself ragged and told me, “Next time, talk to me sooner, I can help you!” and actually meant it. — Alan Henry, service editor at Wired magazine and author of the upcoming book “Seen, Heard, and Paid: The New Work Rules for the Marginalized”

  1. Get everything out of your head and onto paper.

What I like to do is get everything out of my head and onto paper.

I actually did it today. Grab a blank sheet of white paper and draw a vertical line down the center and a horizontal line across the center, so you’ve got four quadrants on your page. In the top lefthand corner, I write, “Must do.” Top right, I write “Should do.” Bottom left, I write “Could do,” and bottom right, I write “Want to.” And I just start writing things out of my head into those four categories.

When you have to decide where everything goes, it’s almost like taking a colander that strains things in the section that it belongs, and it really helps you clarify, “OK, there are a lot of things bouncing around in my head, but not everything is a must-do.” What are the deadlines that are most urgent?

Once I feel complete with the mind sweep, I look at what’s on the must-do list, and then I’ll prioritize or rank, and I’ll literally write a 1 or a 2 or a 3 next to everything in order of importance. At that point, I feel settled down enough to know what I need to start on. –– Anna Dearmon Kornick, time management coach and host of the “It’s About Time” podcast

  1. Shrink the project load.

When I fall behind on work, I spend a bit more time planning and make a list of all of the current projects I have on my plate. I then see if I can delegate any of those projects to someone else or drop any because they’re significantly less important or meaningful than the others.

With the projects that remain, I look at their deadlines to see if I can reasonably get them all done, considering how much time, attention and energy I’ll have.

If I won’t have the bandwidth, I’ll try to beat back a few of the deadlines somehow, like by letting people know I’ll be late ahead of time but need extra time to do a good job, or by just telling them that I’ll be late, hopefully well in advance.

Ninety percent of the time I find it’s possible to shrink my overall workload with these tactics. When it isn’t, and I figure that the work will be worth the extra time, I’ll just work the extra hours to get it done while still shrinking the project load to experience less overall stress. — Chris Bailey, author of “The Productivity Project”

  1. Acknowledge ‘I am overwhelmed and I need help!’

While I’m task-oriented, there are times when I get behind or get overwhelmed with distractions. My best practices include:
1. Acknowledge where I am: “I am overwhelmed and I need help!”
2. Prioritize my task list: Are my tasks immediate, close of business or later?
3. Limit my distractions: Check social media less or set a specific time for Q&As with students.
4. Get by myself, behind closed doors, for a set amount of time and go full-out on completing tasks. — Pamela A. Reed, time management coach and author of “Unfinished Business: How to Finish What You Start … Faster!”

  1. Communicate quickly if your task involves others.

The first thing that I do is to take a step back and just stop, because dealing with so many things happening at one time is just information overload.

I find doing a pause means not looking at emails, not checking the phone and just taking it all in: “This is what’s happening, let me collect my thoughts and get myself in a place where I can think through the next steps,” as opposed to, “Let me just pick something and finish it just to finish it.”

Acknowledge it is what it is. It’s a moment in time.

And then look at projects and deadlines. The work that you have to do: Is it just your own work or does it involve others? If it does, then communication to them has to be the first thing. That distinction, I think, is important. If someone is expecting something from you, communicate right away: “This is the new timeline,” “Can I get this to you by this time?” or make them aware of what’s happening. — Rashelle Isip, productivity consultant

  1. Ask yourself this one clarifying question.

Defining clear priorities, I think, is the key to getting out of feeling overwhelmed. If you are in a job where you have a leadership team or a boss, sometimes it’s an issue of asking for clarification from them and saying, “These are the things I have on my plate. What should be the priority?”

But if you are the person who has to decide what’s most important, I like to use a clarifying question from a book called “The One Thing” by Gary Keller. And the clarifying question is: Of all these things that are on my plate, what is the one thing that if it was resolved or it went away, all of these other things would become easier or irrelevant? What is that one domino that if that domino fell, it would make everything else better? — Katie Wussow, business coach for creatives and host of “The Game Changer” podcast

  1. Get your mind calm.

Often people look for a one-click solution to this. But in my experience this requires skills that you must practice regularly to master: stress management and resiliency, prioritization and time- and task-management.

But when I do fall behind with work, here’s how I would put the three skills into practice. First, I’d deal with [feeling overwhelmed] using meditation or another mindfulness practice. You know you’ve achieved it when your heartbeat is at a relaxed rate. Your muscles, jaws and eyebrows become unclenched. And your breathing gets back to normal.

Then, I’d write down all the tasks I needed to do. A better place to store tasks is not the brain but a to-do list. Similarly, a problem is easier to solve when you can see it.

The next step is to prioritize using the Eisenhower Matrix. Do what’s important and urgent. Schedule what’s important but not so urgent. Delegate tasks that are urgent but not in my area of expertise, and eliminate the rest.

Sometimes it’d turn out that the pile of tasks is manageable if I can get focused. If not, I’d negotiate deadlines. Often I am surprised by how understanding people are when you explain your situation.

I trust the system. It all begins with a calm mind. — Samphy Y, productivity coach
