Jennifer Hudson Releases Song From Aretha Biopic
Jennifer Hudson and Carole King have released a song from Hudson’s Aretha Franklin biopic. They released the original song “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home).” Hudson and King co-wrote “Here I Am,” which will appear on the soundtrack for Hudson’s film Respect. Hudson plays Franklin, who died at age 76 in August 2018, in the new movie. King co-wrote Franklin’s hit song “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” with Gerry Goffin. Respect follows Franklin’s rise to fame as an international music superstar known as the Queen of Soul. Chris Harrison Gets Big Payout From ABC
Longtime “Bachelor” host Chris Harrison was paid $9 million in his exit from the franchise, Variety reported Friday — despite demanding a $25 million as previously reported. In a new report, Variety revealed Harrison, who left the franchise after defending a former contestant’s past racist actions, was paid roughly $10 million — a combination of a $9 million exit settlement and remaining contractual fees. A source previously said he was ready to spill the dirt if the network didn’t shell out the cash. Variety also reported that part of the agreement he signed included a public statement about “amicable parting-of-ways.” A source said earlier this month, “Chris Harrison’s whole life was ‘The Bachelor,’ and he didn’t want to let go. He still is really sad to leave, and there have been very tough and very heated negotiations going on for weeks.” Harrison’s exit was announced in June, months after he defended “Bachelor” contestant Rachael Kirkconnell for attending an Antebellum-themed party in college. Though he was quick to apologize, Variety reported that he was unaware of how much “attention his response was receiving, and did not realize just how problematic the television interview would become.”

Archie Will Never Become Prince
Prince Harry’s son Archie will never become a prince under his grandfather’s plan for a slimmed-down monarchy, a new report said. Prince Charles, who is likely to be the next British king, is determined to limit the number of key royals in an effort to appease his future subjects — who he believes don’t want to pay for a bloated monarchy, The Daily Mail reported Saturday. Charles told his son that he will change key documents to prevent Archie from inheriting the title, which would have once been his birthright, the article said. The toddler is currently seventh in line to the throne. “Harry and Meghan were told Archie would never be a Prince, even when Charles became King,” the tabloid’s source said. The news has not sat well with Harry and Meghan Markle, even though the Sussexes abandoned their royal duties to live in the US, the report said. Under Charles’ plan, only heirs to the throne and their immediate families would receive full titles and financial and police support funded by taxpayers, the Mail said.

Indiana Jones Filming Upsets Residents
Residents of Hackney, East London, are whipped-up in a frenzy over the filming of the fifth installment of the “Indiana Jones” series, “Indiana Jones and the Empire of Evil” in which Harrison Ford’s archeologist once again takes on the Nazis. While the production paid one neighbor $75,000 to film in their home, the entire street has been blocked off for days, causing major headaches. While the compensated homeowner left town, no one else was paid a cent and they claim they’ve endured four days of “24/7 hell,” according to the Sun. During the filming, 100 parking spots were cordoned off, 6-foot fences were installed around the set, and stage lights brightened the entire street until midnight. A ferocious WhatsApp residents’ group has slammed the compensated homeowner “for getting rich quick only to ‘leave everyone else to suffer’,” the Sun writes, adding: “A single homeowner has made a mint and the rest of us are left facing the disturbance,” said one 45-year-old woman with severe asthma. “It’s a joke… They closed the road so it caused a lot of disruption. Some people were outside arguing over spaces… I could hear angry voices and lots of cars driving around. People should at least be compensated.” “My friend got home from work and had to park 15 minutes away. She was f—–g fuming with them,” the woman added. Another local was irate after receiving a $150 parking ticket, noting: “It was late at night and I couldn’t find a spot anywhere. It’s chaos. The staff haven’t been very helpful either.”

Meghan Talks About Her New Children’s Book
In her first interview since sitting down with Oprah Winfrey in March, Meghan Markle shed light on her recently released children’s book, “The Bench.” For Prince Harry’s first Father’s Day since the couple welcomed their first child, son Archie, Markle gave her husband a bench with a plaque containing a short poem the text of the book expands on. “I often find — and especially in this past year —I think so many of us realized how much happens in the quiet,” Markle explained to NPR in the interview released on Father’s Day. “It was definitely moments like that, watching them from out of the window and watching [my husband] just, you know, rock [Archie] to sleep or carry him or, you know,” she continued, “those lived experiences, from my observation, are the things that I infused in this poem.” One thing that was important to Markle for her children’s book: inclusivity. As children flip through the pages of “The Bench” they will see realistic, diverse fathers with their children in watercolor illustrations by Christian Robinson. They include a father and son wearing pink tutus and practicing ballet around the bench, as well as a military father coming home to greet his child in the yard. “Growing up, I remember so much how it felt to not see yourself represented,” Markle said. “Any child or any family hopefully can open this book and see themselves in it, whether that means glasses or freckled or a different body shape or a different ethnicity or religion.”

Dog Takes A Tunnel In NYC
A New York dog who fled from a sitter in Manhattan was found seven days later in Queens after crossing between the boroughs via the Queens Midtown Tunnel. Heather Angus said Indie, a dog rescued three months ago from Kolkata, India, gave a dog sitter the slip on the evening of June 8 on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Angus said sightings reported on the Next Door app said Indie was heading south, and just over an hour after her disappearance the canine was spotted by security cameras at the Queens Midtown Tunnel. “I started to feel hopeless but I received a call that night from a Bridge and Tunnels officer who said she tried to stop a dog with an appearance similar to Indie while she was bolting through the Queens Midtown Tunnel,” Angus told the New York Post. Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials said workers were unable to capture Indie, but they directed tunnel traffic to keep the canine safe during her dash between boroughs. It wasn’t until seven days later that a worker at a warehouse in Queens’ Long Island City spotted a dog wandering in an area of the building known to be home to a family of feral cats. “Then he went to lunch and he saw the flier with the phone number, and that’s how he knew that this was the lost dog,” Angus told WNBC-TV.

Alligator Pulled From Vending Machine
Three sheriff’s deputies in Florida responded to a convenience store to help sort out an unusual problem — an alligator hiding under a vending machine. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the alligator was found hiding under a vending machine at a Circle K gas station in Polk City. The sheriff’s office said the gator was “freaking people out” at the station. Three deputies responded to the store and were able to extract the small gator from its hiding spot. See the video HERE.

Woodpecker Destroys Camera
A nature reserve in Russia said a nature camera disguised as a piece of bark had an unintended consequence when it was destroyed by a hungry woodpecker. The Nizhne-Svirsky Nature Reserve in Leningrad Oblast said in a Facebook post that the black woodpecker, nicknamed Zhelna by researchers, apparently was hunting for insects when it unintentionally committed “vandalism” on the camera. The reserve shared video of the woodpecker methodically pecking away at the camera until it broke. “Zhelna quickly discovered the camouflaged device and for several days methodically hit the camera,” the post said. The reserve said the camera has been removed for repairs and likely will be out of commission for some time. See the video HERE.

Florida Man Pulls Gun On Wrong Starbucks Worker
When a Florida man allegedly pulled a gun at a Starbucks drive-thru, irate over a botched order, he unwittingly brandished the firearm at the local police chief’s daughter, who was working the counter, according to Miami Gardens authorities. Chief Delma Noel-Pratt told local media that her 23-year-old daughter was berated with verbal and physical threats before she handed the driver his cream cheese and he drove off. “She felt in fear of her life,” Noel-Pratt said. “It was upsetting to me to know that someone would go to that extreme not having cream cheese on his bagel.” Separately, she told Local 10 News the incident hit close to home occurring just hours before she delivered remarks at a previously scheduled rally against gun violence. “Forget about the badge, forget about the title, that’s my child,” she told the Miami-based station. “And I thought about, am I going to see her again? Is she OK? Of course, she was upset, she was crying, and so I had to go into mom mode.”
