Margot Robbie To Star In New Pirates Movie

Margot Robbie has signed on to star in a new film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.  Christina Hodson is writing the screenplay for Disney’s as-yet-untitled project and Jerry Bruckheimer will once again serve as producer.  Johnny Depp starred in five previous Pirates movies — released between 2003 and 2017 — which were inspired by the Disney theme park ride.  The Robbie movie is not intended to be a spin-off of the Depp blockbusters and will be an original story with new characters.  No details about the plot are known at this time.

Movie Dates Pushed Back Again

The release dates for Mulan and Bill and Ted Face the Music have been changed again due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Mulan, the live-action remake of the 1998 cartoon adventure, was scheduled to open in theaters on July 24, but will now debut Aug. 21.  “While the pandemic has changed our release plans for Mulan and we will continue to be flexible as conditions require, it has not changed our belief in the power of this film and its message of hope and perseverance,” Disney’s co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn and co-chairman Alan Bergman said in a statement on Friday.  Bill & Ted Face the music, which reunites Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter for a third comedy adventure in the Bill & Ted film franchise, had been slated to debut in theaters Aug. 21.  It will now open Aug. 28th.

Scientology May Have Tried To Help Danny Masterson

Danny Masterson, from “That ’70s Show,” was arrested and charged June 17 on multiple counts of rape against three women. But it’s not just the actor who is on trial.  The accusers are all former members of the Church of Scientology, to which he is said to be devoted. Previously, four women, including the three from the criminal charges, filed a civil suit against Danny and the church, accusing the church of harassing them for having reported the alleged assaults to authorities.  One of the attorneys for the civil suit, Stewart Ryan, said: “It is alleged [in the suit] that our clients reported the sexual assaults to Scientology at the times that they happened. It is alleged in the suit that Scientology attempted to cover up the sexual assaults.”  In a response to The Post, the church denied all claims against it from the civil suit.  Danny has insisted that he is innocent of all civil and criminal charges. His lawyer Thomas Mesereau described the actor as “being in complete shock” over “nearly 20-year-old allegations.”

Meghan and Harry Set To Make Big Money

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to make up to $1 million per speech after hiring a top speaking agency.  Last week they signed with prestigious speaking agency Harry Walker Agency – whose other high-end clients include Barack and Michelle Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton, and Oprah Winfrey – which specializes in commanding $1 million fees for their in-demand clients.  They will hold conversations that will “relate to topics that are important in their lives—and in the world,” a source told Town & Country.  “Topics will largely relate to the social issues the world is facing now including racial justice and gender equity, mental health, issues impacting women and girls and the environment—as well as the intersectional nature of these issues. … Many of the areas and topics covered in these conversations will be related to the foundation and mission of Archewell, their new organization housing their philanthropic endeavors.”

Lori Loughlin Booted From The Country Club

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli have been pushed out of the exclusive Bel-Air Country Club — where top members were enraged their recent federal guilty pleas turned the establishment into a “place of refuge and comfort for known felons.”  They quit the club this month, TMZ reported, weeks after pleading guilty to bribing their daughters’ ways into the University of Southern California as part of a national college admissions scandal involving dozens of rich parents.  Their stepping down came amid a battle among members about how to handle the high-profile pair.  While the club’s Board of Directors unanimously voted to suspend the Loughlin-Giannullis, some members were incensed they weren’t kicked out indefinitely. At least one prominent member, former Board President Michael Gallager, said he was resigning over the decision in a fiery letter, TMZ reported. “BACC is a Club of gentlemen and gentlewomen. Gentlemen are not felons, and felons in turn are not gentlemen. You cannot be a member in good standing and guilty of a felony at the same time, it is a non sequitur,” Gallagher wrote.
*****Correction: You can’t be a felon… and get caught!!

Prince Charles Not Surprised About Megxit

Prince Charles was saddened but not shocked when his son Harry and Meghan Markle ditched the family and headed for America. While he likes and admires his daughter-in-law, Nigel Cawthorne, author of the new book, “Prince Andrew: Epstein and the Palace” told the London Sun, “I think [Prince Charles] likes strong women, but in The Firm there is only room for one Queen.”  “The Firm” is what people inside and out of the Palace call the business side of the British royal family.  “I think he foresaw considerable problems ahead for The Firm,” Cawthorne said. “Harry and Meghan amplified the popularity of the royal family in the way that Prince Andrew and Fergie did at the time. However, for the sake of The Firm he will feel this outcome is better that the monarchy is small in size rather than a constellation of stars in separate orbits.”  Charles “genuinely made an attempt to support what Harry and Meghan were looking for,” Cawthorne said. “In truth, however, there wasn’t a lot he could do apart from offering moral support. He no doubt personally regrets the fact that he won’t see his son and family as much as he otherwise would have. … He likes tradition and order.”
*******He wasn’t surprised that they left… but he WAS surprised that Harry didn’t return his leaf blower!!

Woman Runs Marathon A Day During Lockdown

A woman who decided to spend her COVID-19 lockdown time running a marathon every day has reached day 87 of her attempt, which she plans to end at 100 days.  Alyssa Clark, who is originally from Bennington, Vt., said she was living in Italy in March when she found out the summer marathons she had been training for were being canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Clark said she decided to run a marathon for every day she was in lockdown, starting on her treadmill until restrictions lifted allowing her to run outside.  The runner said she initially expected her marathon-running project to last for only about 15 days, since the original lockdown order was scheduled to expire in April, but numerous extensions to the orders led to her setting a goal of 100 marathons in 100 days.
********A marathon is 26.2 miles… and if you run that every day for 100 days, you should be able to get down to your birth weight!!

Monkey Found In Center Console

Customs officers in Texas made an unusual discovery in a pickup truck attempting to cross the border from Mexico — an endangered spider monkey.  U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Field Operations said officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge referred a Ford F-150 pickup truck attempting to enter the country from Mexico for further inspection this week.  The officers searched the truck, which was being driven by a 23-year-old U.S. citizen from Pharr, Texas, and discovered the young monkey concealed inside the vehicle’s center console.  A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agent was summoned to the scene and identified the primate as an endangered spider monkey, a species native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, including southern Mexico.  The agent took custody of the monkey, which will be quarantined and examined by a veterinarian before being transferred to a new home.  Customs officials said the animal might end up at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas.

Winnie The Pooh Letter Sells Big

A 1935 letter signed by “Winnie the Pooh” — actually written by illustrator Ernest Howard Shepard — fetched triple its expected amount when it sold for more than $15,000.  The note, which included a drawing of the titular bear from A.A. Milne’s book series as well as best friend Piglet, apologizes to a young fan named “Buffkins” for missing his birthday party.  Dominic Winters Autioneers said “Buffkins” was a childhood nickname for Harry Stopes-Roe, whose mother, Marie Stopes, was a close friend of Shepard. The Stopes-Roe family said Harry would often invite “Winnie the Pooh” to his birthday parties, and the illustrator would respond with a letter apologizing for the bear’s absence.  The letter is riddled with intentional Pooh-esque misspellings.  “We are teribly sorry that we shant be able to come to your party on March 30th but we are going to be away. Thank you so much for inviteing us,” the note reads.
*********Geez… Winnie the Pooh is an idiot!! He can’t even spell!!
*****The invitation read: “Would you Pooh at my party??”
*****He also wrote a note to Churchill: “Watch out for Hitler!! He’s a bad guy!!”

Puppy Swallows Giant Stick

A nine-month-old puppy had an emergency operation after swallowing a 10-inch stick half the length of its body.  Rocky, a crossbreed, was taken to Southampton PDSA Pet Hospital after his owner found he was being “sick repeatedly and couldn’t keep any food down”.  Vet Zofia Bauman said it was astonishing the stick had not punctured Rocky’s vital organs or caused fatal injuries, adding: “I’ve never seen anything like it.” The 10-inch (25cm) stick was removed during a procedure lasting an hour, and Rocky was closely monitored overnight to make sure there was no internal bleeding.  Owner Joanna said: “We couldn’t believe he’d managed to swallow a stick that was half the length of his body.  “We didn’t see it happen and think he must have got hold of it in the garden. Thankfully, he’s on the mend and feeling better already, and that’s all thanks to PDSA.”
*******Maybe the cat decided to “stick it to him!!”
