Harry and Meghan Have No Place In The Coronation

Leaked rehearsal plans for the upcoming Coronation of King Charles III reveal that there is currently no place for Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle in the procession to follow the king’s crowning in Westminster Abbey. This revelation by The Times of London follows reports that Harry and Meghan have been invited to the ceremony taking place on May 6 in the UK capital.  According to the plans, the King’s shamed brother, the Duke of York, has no place in the royal procession, and his daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie will not be taking part either. In an event estimated at about the third of the size of HM The Queen’s in 1953, it appears there is a place for “working royals only.”  These include the King’s sister the Princess Royal and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, the newly titled Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and a few other adult royal cousins.  One person who will be joining in is the youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Louis, who stole the show at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June last year.  Harry and Meghan’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have not yet been invited to the Coronation, according to the Times.

The Cure Fights Back With Ticketmaster

Robert Smith, the frontman for the Cure, is helping out their fans by going up against Ticketmaster.  Following the announcement of the band’s upcoming tour fans rightly flocked online to purchase tickets, where some said they encountered high fees on top of the actual ticket price.  On Wednesday, Smith took to Twitter to discuss his outrage:  “I am sickened as you all are by today’s Tickmaster ‘fees’ debacle,” he wrote. “To be very clear, the artist has no way to limit them. I have been asking how they are justified. If I get anything coherent by way of an answer I will let you all know.”  By Thursday, Smith had some answers from the company.  “After further conversation,” Smith wrote in another tweet. “Ticketmaster have agreed with us that many of the fees being charged are unduly high, and as a gesture of goodwill have offered $10 per ticket refund to all verified fan accounts and lowest ticket price (LTP) transactions.” Those who purchased tickets at higher prices may only receive a $5 refund, Smith said. For this particular tour, the band reportedly worked to make their concerts affordable for all, offering $20 seating in many markets.
********Ticketmaster will still make a fortune.. so don’t start a GoFundMe page for them!!

Gwenyth Paltrow Defends Her Diet

On Friday, Gwyneth Paltrow addressed the backlash she’s faced since discussing her wellness routine on Dear Media’s “The Art of Being Well” podcast four days earlier. She told host Dr. Will Cole that she typically starts the day with coffee, eats bone broth for lunch, and vegetables for dinner. A video clip of the discussion went viral, prompting criticism from TikTok and Twitter users.  When one of Paltrow’s Instagram followers asked about the controversy during a fan Q&A, she responded with two videos on her Instagram stories.  “I think it’s important for everybody to know that I was doing a podcast with my doctor,” Paltrow said in her Instagram story. “So, this is a person I’ve been working with for over two years now to deal with some chronic stuff.”   Paltrow continued that she has long COVID and one of her symptoms includes “very high levels of inflammation over time.”  “I’ve been working with Dr. Cole to really focus on foods that aren’t inflammatory,” Paltrow said. “So, lots of cooked vegetables, all kinds of protein, healthy carbs to really lower inflammation. It’s been working really well.”  Paltrow added that her diet was based on her medical results and “extensive testing that I’ve done over time.” She concluded that the podcast episode was meant to be a “transparent look at a conversation” between her and her doctor.  “It’s not meant to be advice for anybody else. It’s really just what has worked for me, and it’s been very powerful and very positive. This is not to say I eat this way all day, every day. And by the way, I eat far more than bone broth and vegetables,” Paltrow said. “I eat full meals, and I also have a lot of days of eating whatever I want. You know, eating french fries and whatever. My baseline has been to try to be healthy and eat foods that will really calm the system down.”

Amy Robach Finalizes Divorce

Amy Robach and Andrew Shue have quietly finalized their divorce just four months after her months-long affair with T.J. Holmes was exposed.  They amicably divided their assets through mediation and agreed to share custody of their dog, Brody, according to the Daily Mail on Friday.  Reps for Shue and Robach did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.  The former couple’s legal split comes eight months after Robach, 50, filed for divorce as she chose to pursue a relationship with her 45-year-old co-anchor. The news anchors’ romance allegedly started exactly one year ago while they were training for the New York City half marathon before they decided to end things with their respective partners in August 2022.  Meanwhile, Holmes is also in the midst of settling his divorce from Marilee Fiebig, whom he wed in 2010. The estranged couple share 10-year-old daughter Sabine.  Meanwhile, Robach and Holmes have been looking for ways to get back in the spotlight after getting the boot from “GMA3.”  The unemployed couple is “aggressively pitching” their own show to the producers behind “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” according to an insider.  The source noted that the pair “welcome ongoing coverage” of their relationship and think it will be easier to land their next gig if they can “stay in the news.”  “They think they’re rock stars,” the insider added. “They’re selling their chemistry.”

Professional Bear Hugger Wanted

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is seeking to hire “professional bear huggers.”  “Must have ability to hike in strenuous conditions, have the courage to crawl into a bear den, and have the trust in your coworkers to keep you safe during the process,” the department wrote in a lighthearted Facebook post announcing the application deadline for the next class of conservation officers.  The post includes photos of officers holding bear cubs as part of a research project in Northern New Mexico, offering applicants a chance to have “the experience of a lifetime,” while pointing out “not all law enforcement field work is this glamorous.”  The post warns against crawling into bear dens or feeding bears, adding, “If you do, our officers will have to have a chat with you.”  The department is taking applications for conservation officer trainees online through March 30.

Dye Introduced Into Water System

Officials in a Colorado city said they have identified the culprit behind unusual pink coloring in treated water — 20 gallons of concentrated dye.  The City of Idaho Springs said staff at its Water Resource Reclamation Facility noticed treated water being discharged into Clear Creek had an unusual pink coloration on the morning of March 13.  An investigation was launched in cooperation with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the probe determined the pink color had been introduced via the municipal sewer system.  Officials said they determined Wednesday that the cause of the color had been about 20 gallons of concentrated dye that had accidentally been dumped into the sewer system by a local business.  “The dye had been intermittently released into the system starting on March 12 and was stopped on March 14,” the city said in a news release.  The city said the water discharged from the reclamation facility is likely to remain pink until all of the dye has passed through the sewer system.  See the video HERE.

Snow Piles Over Ski Lifts

This winter has been a boon for ski resorts in California with plenty of powder to go around, and at one resort, the snow has reached new heights.  Over 600 inches (50 feet) of snow has fallen on the slopes of Bear Valley Resort since late 2022, more than double the 300 inches that typically fall at the resort in an entire season. Bear Valley Resort is located about 80 miles east of Sacramento in the Sierra Nevada, with the summit reaching an elevation of 8,500 feet.  After the most recent atmospheric river, a member of the Bear Valley Ski Patrol was able to touch the top of the chair lift with his skis still planted on the snow-packed slopes. The lift was inoperable after the last storm due to chairs being buried in towering snow drifts. Ski patroller Eric Wilcox told storm chaser Brandon Clement that it is a huge undertaking to clear the snow after the massive storms, but it is worth the effort.  “It’s totally exciting and we’re having a lot of fun,” Wilcox said. Mammoth Mountain, located about 80 miles southeast of Bear Valley Resort, joined the 600-inch club on Monday, as the most recent atmospheric river unloaded heavy snow over the Sierra Nevada. This season is just the third time on record that Mammoth Mountain has measured over 600 inches of snow. Snow records at the resort date back to the winter of 1969-70.

Snails Found In Luggage

Six giant African land snails have been found in the luggage of a traveler who flew to Michigan from the west African country of Ghana.  The mollusks, which can carry diseases that affect humans, were discovered and seized March 9 during an agriculture inspection at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Friday.  The man transporting the snails is a resident of Ghana and said they were to be eaten. He was released without further actions.  “It is not uncommon for travelers to bring food items from their native countries, which underscores the importance of the inspection process upon arrival to U.S. ports of entry,” Customs and Border Protection spokesman Steven Bansbach said. “This allows CBP officers and agriculture specialists the opportunity to determine whether these goods are permissible or not, while mitigating the potential for public health or environmental issues.”  Giant African land snails are prohibited in Michigan and the rest of the United States. They eat at least 500 different types of plants, along with plaster and stucco on buildings.

The 5 Types Of Influential People You Should Always Befriend At Work

HUFFINGTON POST

  1. The Veterans

These are the long-timers who have outlasted chaotic pivots and turbulent layoffs. They are historians who hold key institutional knowledge about how processes came to be and where there is wiggle room for change. Their expertise can be invaluable, especially when you are new to an organization.  Ng described veterans as “people who’ve worked in the organization the longest — and who can help you learn how to effectively navigate the system based on what has and hasn’t worked before.”  Lawrese Brown, the founder of workplace education company C-Track Training, noted that veterans are valuable because they have worked at the company long enough to understand what leadership cares about.

“If you have an organization where people tend to churn out after a year and then you have someone who has been there three years, they’ll be able to [tell] you: ‘Listen, this is what causes a fire here. This is what actually constitutes urgency, or something that needs to be handled immediately,’” she said.

  1. The Socialites

If there’s a happy hour, socialites are there. These are the co-workers who seem to know everyone and are seemingly everywhere.  Ng described socialites as “people who are known and respected around the organization — and who can introduce you to the right people and shape others’ perceptions of you.”

Keep in mind that socialites want people to get along, so do not expect them to be confrontational on your behalf, Brown said.  “Their influence is in getting other people to address obstacles for them so they can keep their reputation,” she said. “They are going to be very good at telling you how to get things done without addressing it head-on: ‘Well if you talk to this person, then they’ll mention it in this way. If you bring it up to this person, they’ll put it in the meeting.’”  Their connections can carry them far.

”The people who are well liked at work have social pull — even if they’re not in a leadership position, people will show up to their events and be interested in their take on important decisions,” said Lauren Appio, a psychologist, executive coach and consultant. “They are often top of mind for professional opportunities inside and outside of the organization and are likely to be well networked themselves.“

You’ll want to befriend them so their star power can pass down to you. That’s because these popular colleagues “also may be given more latitude to ‘ask for forgiveness, not permission,’ which may allow them to be more bold or creative in how they approach their work,” Appio said. “Working on projects with well-liked people can give you access to some of that latitude as well.”

  1. The Gatekeepers

Gatekeepers are an example of how influence can be subtle. Ng said gatekeepers in the office are often assistants “who work closely with the senior leaders — and who can influence whether you get to meet with them and how they perceive you.”  Gatekeepers can help you get on a senior leader’s calendar right away, or they can keep you waiting for weeks. You want to get them on your side.

“They know the factors that will get you the ‘yes’ and get you the signature for the resources for it,” Brown said.

  1. The Politicians

Politicians understand that doing the job alone is not enough to climb the company ladder. They are experts at navigating office politics as confident strategists who speak up to make their achievements known and visible to decision-makers.  “They are very motivated by power. They know that in order to get power, you have to be visible to power,” Brown said.  If you want to rise up the ranks, you could learn from how they play the game. “Their influence comes through their ability to understand how sponsorship is gained,” Brown said. “They know how to get promoted. They know how to get put on a path for the next title.”  In befriending a politician colleague, Brown said you may want to make clear how they will benefit in the short term from your relationship or collaboration.

“If you’re talking to a politician, pay attention to the transaction, because that’s really what it is,” she said. “Politicians don’t tend to play long-term relationships unless it’s somebody way, way above them.”

  1. The Mediators

Mediators have a gift for problem-solving. Often, senior colleagues go to mediators when there are impasses because they know they will get something that can be rare in a dysfunctional workplace: fairness.  Brown described mediators as the people colleagues trust to hear them out and be objective about a situation.  “They’re principled in some way. They’re not just going to tell you what you want to hear,” Brown said. ”These are people who are like, ‘Hate to give you a hard [pill] … to swallow, but you don’t have documentational evidence, so we can’t do anything about it.’ They’re going to tell you the reality of how something goes in people’s favor or against.”
