Intruder At Johnny Depp’s Home

An intruder was found making himself comfortable in Johnny Depp’s Hollywood home — downing his booze and even taking a shower!  Police were called to his home on Thursday after his security team was alerted to someone being inside.  The intruder, who was not identified, was taking a shower when cops arrived — with officers kicking down the door when he refused to come out, the outlet said.  He had also made himself a drink from Depp’s stash. He was booked for felony vandalism due to a damaged door, TMZ said. There was no suggestion that Depp was ever at risk.

Hiatus For The Talk Extended

Amid the ongoing probe into comments made by Sharon Osbourne during a heated exchange between her and fellow “The Talk” co-host Sheryl Underwood, CBS is further extending the daytime talk show’s hiatus through “at least next week,” according to a source familiar with the matter.  CBS had previously announced that it would launch an investigation into comments made on-air in which Osbourne defended Piers Morgan’s comments about Meghan Markle. The pause on production had originally been slated to end on Tuesday, March 23. CBS released a statement this week reiterating its commitment to inclusion: “CBS is committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace across all of our productions. We’re also very mindful of the important concerns expressed and discussions taking place regarding events on ‘The Talk.’ This includes a process where all voices are heard, claims are investigated and appropriate action is taken where necessary. The show will extend its production hiatus until next Tuesday as we continue to review these issues.”

Alternate Mrs. Doubtfire Exists

The director of the 1993 Robin Williams movie, Mrs. Doubtfire, confirmed internet rumors that all of the late star’s improvisations didn’t end up on the cutting room floor.  Chris Columbus is even open to making a documentary about the creation of the film, showcasing some of Williams’ “hilariously funny” but not-safe-for-a-family-movie material that didn’t make it into the theaters, the director told Entertainment Weekly.  The outtakes from the movie don’t rise to the level of an NC-17 rating, but there are three different versions of the film, including an R-rated cut, said Columbus, also known for the “Home Alone” and “Harry Potter” movies.  “The reality is that there was a deal between Robin and myself, which was, he’ll do one or two, three scripted takes. And then he would say, ‘Then let me play.’ And we would basically go on anywhere between 15 to 22 takes, I think 22 being the most I remember,” Columbus recalled.  Williams, a skilled improviser with a memorably rapid-fire delivery, would come up with new lines for each take.  “He would sometimes go into territory that wouldn’t be appropriate for a PG-13 movie, but certainly appropriate and hilariously funny for an R-rated film,” Columbus said.

Queen Hiring “Diversity Czar”

The Queen will appoint a “diversity czar” after Meghan Markle accused the royal family of racism during her interview with Oprah.  In addition to the hire, the monarchy will engage in an upcoming “listen and learn” exercise in which the royals will “seek independent views” on how it can improve diversity efforts encompassing minorities and the LGBT community, the sources said.  “This is an issue which has been taken very seriously across the Households,” a palace source reportedly told the Mail on Sunday. “We have the policies, procedures and programs in place but we haven’t seen the progress we would like and accept more needs to be done. We can always improve.  We are not afraid to look at new ways of approaching it. The work to do this has been under way for some time now and comes with the full support of the family.”  In an official statement issued by the 94-year-old monarch following the interview, she said the racism accusations were “concerning” and “will be addressed by the family privately.”

ARod Still Sucking Up To JLo!

Alex Rodriguez put on yet another PDA-packed display with Jennifer Lopez in the Dominican Republic while meeting with their team. Back in her robe, Lopez had a grin from ear-to-ear as she spent time with Rodriguez and the two female assistants.  At one point, he put his arm around the “Hustlers” star and pulled her in for a kiss as their staffers watched. In another, he bent over to steal another smooch from her as she put her hand on his face.  The couple has been smooching up a storm for the cameras since they jointly announced they were “working through some things” following their brief breakup last week, though noticeably missing is her massive engagement ring.  Despite the various displays, sources say that J.Lo and A-Rod still might not last.  She is in the Dominican Republic filming her new movie, “Shotgun Wedding,” with Josh Duhamel. Alex flew to the island last weekend in an attempt to salvage his relationship with Lopez.

Suzanne Somers Shares Her Sex Routine

Suzanne Somers has opened up about her flourishing sex life with husband Alan Hamel.  She revealed that because of “hormones,” the pair have been “having a lot of sex” as of late.  “At this stage of life, most people think that’s, you know, over the hill, too much information,” she explained on Heather Dubrow’s World podcast. “But what time is it, like noon? I’ve had sex with him three times so far today. What is it about 4:30 in the morning that suddenly, there he is? I’m going, ‘Could you just wait until the sun comes up?’”  Somers, 74, and Hamel, 84, have been married since 1977.  “God, our relationship has always been amazing,” the actress added. “But now that our kids are raised and it’s just me and Al, and we paid for the tuition, we paid for the weddings and helped them get their start – now it’s just us. Man, are we having fun.”
********Thanks for the (too much) information!!!

Music producer Mark Ronson is dating Meryl Streep’s daughter, “Mr. Robot” star Grace Gummer.  The two were seen on a dinner date in New York City last September, and “things have become romantic,” dished a source.  Mark, 45, and his ex-wife French actress Josephine De La Baume, split in 2017.  Grace, 34, divorced Tay Strathairn in April 2020 after just 42 days.

Gary Oldman:  My Booze Nightmare-(Globe)

“I used to sweat vodka,” Oscar winner Gary Oldman, 63, admits.  Now on the wagon for 24 years, Oldman, who won Best Actor n 2018 for playing Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour,” says he became a raging alcoholic early in life.  But all that boozing apparently made him the perfect choice to play ‘Citizen Kane” scribe Herman J. Mankiewicz in “Mank,” his latest movie.  “How do you make this guy likable and not this grump, snarky drunk?  That was the challenge,” confesses the star.  Here’s a sobering thought:  The scriptwriter, who co-wrote the 1941 epic with Orson Welles, eventually died of uremic poisoning in 1953 at 55.

Chip’s Fan-Boy Friendship-(Star)

Chip Gaines has long been a Garth Brooks fan-now he can call the 59-year-old country great his buddy.  Sources say that the “Friends In Low Places” singer and the Fixer Upper star met through mutual pals in the TV biz a few months ago and the pair have been-virtually-inseperable ever since.  “Chip giving Garth  lots of home repair advice, while Garth is teaching Chip to play guitar,” reveals an insider.  Even better, Garth’s wife Trisha Yearwood has also hit it off with Chip’s better half, Joanna, 42.  It makes sense, since they’re both TV cooks (Jo’s Magnolia Table launched in January, while Trisha’s Southern Kitchen is a Food Network staple) “they compare notes on recipes,” adds the insider, “while the foursome throw virtual trivia nights and cookoffs.”  And no, Texas based Chip is no relation to Garth’s 1999 rocket alter ego, Chris Gaines!

Hollywood War Zone:  Terror At an Elegant Eatery-(Life & Style)

It’s long been a chic celeb favorite, frequented by the likes of Matt Damon, Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner and Michael B. Jordan.  But in early March, Toca Madera restaurant became the center of chaos:  Four men held guns on a group of diners, demanding watches, jewelry and handbags, then fleeing with the loot before police could arrive.  “Because of events like this, the rich and famous are leaving their Rolexes and Richard Mille watches, Cartier jewelry and even wedding rings locked in safes at home,” a source says.  “They’re too scared to wear them!”

Guy Ordered To Take Down Giant Chiefs Mural

A Kansas man who turned his love for the Kansas City Chiefs into a giant mural on the side of his house said the city has ordered him to take it down.  Chris Chancey said he spent about 60 hours painting the mural of Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes, Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz on the side of his Kansas City home to commemorate the team’s 2020 Super Bowl victory.  “We don’t have any HOA here. We don’t have any restrictions that I know of. I just thought I’m going to paint my house, so let’s have some fun,” Chancey told KTVI-TV.  Chancey said he received a letter from the city giving him until March 31 to remove the mural.  The letter told Chancey that mural signs are not allowed in areas zoned as residential.  “Escalating penalties from $100 to $1,500. They even went as far as to say that they can take a lien against my property,” Chancey said.    See it HERE.

Scottish Island Up For Auction

An auction house announced an entire 11-acre island in the Scottish Highlands will be auctioned online with a starting bid of $111,700.  Auctioneers Future Property said Deer Island, on Scotland’s west coast, is a space that can be “enjoyed with zero chance of intrusion.”  Property manager Stephen McCluskey said the island is being sold for the first time after being owned by the same family for the past 500 years.  The closest island, Eilean Shona, is owned by Vanessa Branson, sister of British businessman Richard Branson.  “They use that as a business — Eilean Shona is bigger, significantly bigger, but they’ve got chalets and a retreat there where a number of celebrities go and stay,” McCluskey told CNN.  Deer Island, by comparison, is as undeveloped as can be.  “It’s rock and trees really at the moment — there’s nothing on it — and never been anything [built] on it, or any application to have anything on it,” he said.  “There’s nothing at all. It’s been completely uninhabited for 500 years.”

Stolen Ronald McDonald

Police in Michigan said a $1,500 reward is being offered for the “safe return” of one of the town’s most popular residents: a Ronald McDonald statue.  The Woodhaven Police Department said the statue, which was seated on a bench behind the McDonald’s in town, was taken at some point Friday night or early Saturday morning.  Police said the bench was damaged in the theft.  “Ronald has been a big part of the Woodhaven community for many years and the Granader family is offering a $1,500.00 reward for his safe return,” police said.  Police are asking anyone with information on the clown statue’s whereabouts to contact the department.

How To Successfully Pull Off A Dramatic Career Switch During COVID-19

Huffington Post

  1. Identify which of your skills can transfer over to your new field.

If you’re sitting at your desk right now longing for change, know that you may have more tools than you think to get the career you want.

First, identify which of your core functions can carry over into your new field.

“Marketing, general management, finance, consulting, sales — that is the function that’s going to carry through, whether you’re in tech or biotech or manufacturing,” said Kristen Fitzpatrick, the managing director of alumni, career and professional development at Harvard Business School.

“You are looking for professional, academic and technical skills that can be easily translated to that other industry,” Jessica Hernandez, a career development coach, told HuffPost.

She gave the example of someone switching from the hospitality industry to logistics. “If you’re in hospitality and you had to work with suppliers and vendors and plan shipments or anything like that ― even though it was under that hospitality industry, those things are still transferable to new industries,” Hernandez said.

If you don’t have any of these transferable skills, Hernandez recommends educating yourself and taking online courses in the skills you need to get certifications that you can put on your résumé.

You should also read up on the basic technical skills and concepts you’ll need to have to survive in your new field, Fitzpatrick added.

“If you’re going into finance, you should be able to read a 10-K [filing], you should be able to understand how the stock market works. There are basics in every industry that you should know, and then you’re able to create a more compelling story for why you are worth a little bit of a risk as a career-switcher,” she said.

  1. Rewrite your résumé to highlight how you’re making career moves in that new direction.

View your résumé as an explanation of where you want to go in your career, not a summary of what you have previously done.

If you are making a radical pivot that is not reflected in your formal education, career experts advise putting your self-studies, such as LinkedIn learning courses and digital bootcamps you have taken, at the top of your résumé. That way, a recruiter skimming the page can easily understand your reasons for a career leap and how you’re working toward it.

“If experience isn’t super solid for whatever reason, but then [applicants] are showing that they’ve gone to hackathons on the weekends … or things on their own, that shows determination, that shows focus, it’s self-motivation, and those kind of candidates are definitely highlighted in my experience,” Alison Daley, the founder of a tech recruiting and training platform called Recruiting Innovation, previously told HuffPost. “Moxie and determination sure compensate for certain education pedigrees.”

Ask someone who has no idea what you do to look at your résumé so they can help you see what isn’t clear and what industry vernacular from your old career you may still be using, Fitzpatrick said.

“The amount of abbreviation and jargon I see when it’s just how you’ve always talked for years ― you forget that other people don’t know,” she said.

  1. Network with people whose careers you want.

To expand your network, reach out to people who have the type of jobs you want and ask them for informational interviews.

“Find out what made them so successful, what they did before they got to the position or industry that they were in,” Hernandez said.

She suggests framing your request with language like, “Hey, I saw that you work for this company. I really admire your career path. I would like to transition into that industry one day. I was just wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing one or two steps that helped you get to where you are.”

It’s important not to make this transactional and ask them for a job, which may turn people off in a first encounter. Rather, you’re asking them for information and actionable advice. Once you have a lot of these conversations, you’ll start to notice patterns in these career paths, and in the meantime, you’ll build relationships that could eventually lead to a referral, Hernandez said.

  1. Figure out your level of risk and budget the money you need during the transition.

“You don’t want the stress of money coming up as you transition. The transition is already hard enough,” said Ramona Ortega, founder of the personal finance platform My Money My Future. When you’re making a big career switch, you need to have “a pot of money that is going to hold you over, whether you’re just starting a new job [and] it’s going to be another three to four weeks before you actually get paid, or you’re looking for a job,” which can take an indefinite amount of time, she said.

Before you switch, Ortega recommends looking at your bills holistically, consolidating accounts so you can see a full picture of where your money is going and coming from, and saving enough to cover fixed costs such as rent, mortgage, or car payments for three to six months. If you’re taking money out of a 401(k), consider timing that action to when you are making less money and in a lower tax bracket, she said.

If you’re switching from full-time employment to not knowing when your paycheck will be coming, Ortega suggests getting a side gig to ease that transition.

“This could be something really random,” she said. “You want income coming in, especially if you’re leaving a job that you’ve been with for 10 years and you’re used to having that every-two-weeks-a check-is-coming-in [situation]. It’s a very hard transition for a lot of people,” she said.

Exactly how much money you will need for your move depends on your comfort with risk. Ortega said some people fall into the “Screw it, I’m leaving” camp, while others who are risk-averse may need a longer period of time to plan and build a bigger emergency fund.

“If I was someone who was more risk-averse, I would probably take eight months before I leave my job to prepare,” she said. “I would make sure I had my spending down … have a very good sense of what are my job prospects, have interviews lined up. It requires more planning.”
