Kanye Changes His Mind About Jewish People
Kanye West, wrote in an Instagram post that “watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street made me like Jewish people again.” He appeared to acknowledge his previous antisemitic comments that sparked controversy and led to him being temporarily removed from social media and losing multiple business deals. The rapper returned to Instagram to share an image of the 2012 film’s poster and said watching it caused him to have a change of heart. “No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people,” he added. “No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew.” He ended the message with: “Thank you Jonah Hill I love you.”

Adele Extending Residency
Adele announced during what was supposed to be her final ‘Weekends With Adele’ shows that her Las Vegas residency is being extended. The singer has been performing at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace since November, but confirmed on stage that she’d be coming back to Vegas for more shows later in the year. “Playing to 4,000 people for 34 nights is not enough and I know that, I know it’s not enough,” she said. “So I am coming back.” Adele then said she’d be resuming the residency for a few weeks in June, before returning in August for a run of shows that will take her to the end of the autumn. In addition, she also said that a concert film will be released of ‘Weekends With Adele’, which is set to be recorded at one of her upcoming shows. The residency was initially meant to take place from January-April 2022 but was postponed due to Adele’s team being “absolutely destroyed” by delivery delays and an outbreak of COVID-19 among the crew.

Afroman Sued By Ohio Cops
Rapper Afroman is being sued by several Ohio law enforcement officials after he put footage of their 2022 raid on his house in music videos about the incident. The rapper, who is best known for his 2002 jam “Because I Got High,” made a whole album about the August 2022 raid in which police broke down his door based on a search warrant for drug trafficking and kidnapping. No evidence supporting those allegations was found and no charges were filed. The musician, whose given name is Joseph Edgar Foreman, wrote about the raid in several of his songs, including “Lemon Pound Cake,” which opens with they lyrics, “The Adams County sheriff kicked down my door, then I heard the glass break. They found no kidnapping victims, just some lemon pound cake.” In the surveillance footage included in the video, police are shown kicking in the door and walking past the titular cake on the kitchen counter. Afroman told NPR that the cops also broke his video surveillance system and stole $400 from him. Four deputies, two sergeants and one detective from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office are now suing him, his label and a Texas-based music distribution company for invasion of privacy. In the complaint filed last week, they said they have received death threats, and also suffered “humiliation, ridicule, mental distress, embarrassment and loss of reputation.” Unless the music videos and social media posts are taken down, “Plaintiffs will suffer irreparable injury to their reputations, their mental health, and their legally protected rights,” the complaint read. They are also seeking all proceeds of the songs and videos, as well as his merchandise, including sales of the malt liquor made by his 4204 Main Street Brewing Company. Gwyneth Paltrow Trial Update
Gwyneth Paltrow insisted Friday on the witness stand that a ski collision at an upscale Utah ski resort in 2016 wasn’t her fault, claiming the man suing her smashed into her from behind with his two skis. She testified that the crash shocked her — and at first, she worried that she was being violated. “There was a body pressing against me and a very strange grunting noise,” she said. “My brain was trying to make sense of what was happening,” the actor-turned-lifestyle influencer added, clarifying on the stand that the collision was not a sexual violation. Paltrow and Terry Sanderson, the retired optometrist who is suing her, are both expected to answer questions about the crash while their attorneys jostle to convince the 8-member jury which skier was positioned downhill and who had the right of way. Throughout her testimony, she has calmly and repeatedly said that Sanderson, who sat several feet away in court, crashed into her. To draw attention to her wealth and privilege, Sanderson’s lawyers have probed Paltrow about the price of ski instructors at Deer Valley Resort — and her decision to leave the mountain to get a massage the day of the crash that broke four of Sanderson’s ribs and left him concussed.

Reese Witherspoon has announced she is divorcing Jim Toth, her husband of 11 years. “We have some personal news to share… It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the former couple said in a statement on Instagram Friday. “We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together,” they added. “Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. News Anchor Loses Job After Quoting Snoop Dogg
A Mississippi morning news anchor appears to be out of a job after saying a popular Snoop Dogg phrase on air earlier this month. Barbie Bassett has not returned to the anchor desk at NBC affiliate WLBT since the March 8 broadcast and is no longer listed as a member of the news team on the station’s website, the Clarion Ledger reports. The gaffe was made during a discussion about Snoop Dogg’s latest addition to his Cali wine line. Bassett said, “Fo shizzle, my nizzle,” when the idea of a Snoop collaboration with a newsroom journalist was raised. “Nizzle” is slang for the N-word. Bassett, who is white, also tweeted the phrase in 2011. She apologized in October 2022 after referencing a black reporter’s “grandmammy” on air. Her latest slip-up drew the attention of Charlamagne tha God, who defended her this week on the radio. “I don’t think she should have been fired for that,” he said on “The Breakfast Club.” “She might not even know what ‘nizzle’ means, yo. Come on, like stop. That’s not a reason to fire that woman.” Some social media users have come to Bassett’s defense, while others say it’s not appropriate for a white woman to say that phrase.

Owl Sets Off Carbon Monoxide Alarm
Animal rescuers in Ohio said a reported carbon monoxide leak at a family’s home turned out to have an unusual cause — an owl stuck in the chimney. Cincinnati Animal Care said in a Twitter post that a family was evacuated from their home when high levels of carbon monoxide were detected in the house. Officials searching for the cause of the carbon monoxide discovered the family’s chimney was blocked by an owl that had become stuck. Hamilton County Dog Wardens were summoned to the scene and were able to extract the bird from the chimney. The owl was not injured and was released at the scene.

Zebra On The Run
A zoo in South Korea’s capital confirmed a zebra escaped from the facility Thursday and spent about 3 hours wandering the streets of the city. The Seoul Children’s Grand Park zoo said the zebra escaped just before 3 p.m. local time Thursday and wandered to a nearby residential neighborhood. Surprised locals posted photos and videos of the wandering equine to social media. Zoo officials and firefighters pursued the zebra for about 3 hours before they were able to corner the animal and administer a tranquilizer. The zebra was safely returned to the zoo just after 6 p.m., officials said.

Pizza Attack
A Florida man was arrested Friday after he allegedly slapped a woman in the face with a slice of pizza during an argument, authorities said. Deputies responded to a residence after receiving a 911 hangup call for a possible domestic disturbance, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said in an arrest affidavit. Deputies spoke to the suspect, 39-year-old Ortelio Lazaro Alfonso, who told them he had an argument with the female victim, the affidavit stated. The victim told deputies she had been slapped on the left side of her face with a slice of pizza during an argument after Alfonso became upset when she physically disciplined another individual in the home “on his bottom area,” according to the affidavit. Pizza sauce was found on the front of the victim’s shirt, her shirt collar and the back of her shirt, deputies said. She also had “remnants of pizza” in her hair and around her ear.

Cable companies have employees specifically tasked with the purpose of keeping customers from switching over to competitors. These representatives are armed with a list of valid offers that can be shared with customers on the verge of cutting the cord or switching over to another provider. Some companies offer their representatives a bonus for each customer they keep. Here are some things you may be able to negotiate for when speaking with one of these special customer agents:
- Broadband upgrade
- Free phone line
- Faster internet plan
- Better DVR
- Discounted movies
- Be Consistent
Many special offers have expiration dates. Most discounts and extra movie channels are typically offered in six-month intervals. Cable providers are counting on the fact that you’ll be too busy living your life to notice that the amount on your monthly bill has crept up once the trial is over. Make a plan to call your provider every three to six months to ask about the current deals that are available to customers. This strategy ensures that you’ll be eligible to receive perks and savings all year long.
- Check Competitors’ Deals
If you notice that your cable provider’s competitor is running a promotion, ask your provider to match that promotion. If you’re feeling particularly bold, you can even ask your cable company to beat a competitor’s deal.
- Embrace the Power of the Bundle
Bundling is a great way to save on internet as well as cable because you pay less for more. If you’re currently paying separately for your phone, internet, and other entertainment features, it may be time to shop around for a complete package.
There’s a good chance you’ll end up with more entertainment at your fingertips and a slashed monthly bill. For instance, XFINITY provides packages that allow you to mix and match between voice, internet, and television. You can combine internet of speeds of up to 300 Mpbs with over 125 television channels for $89.99.
An additional perk of bundling your services is that it puts you in a position of power when it’s time to negotiate a deal with your cable company. It is far more painful for a cable company to lose you as a customer if you’re paying for television, phone and internet than if you only used one service.
- Think Outside the (Cable) Box
Cable modem fees for most providers range between $6 and $11 a month. This is one of the details cable companies are most stubborn about negotiating. If you’re about to upgrade to a more expensive package because you want more channels, you can try requesting that your rental fee be waived as an enticement for biting the bullet and upgrading. One other way to work around this fee is to purchase your own cable modem. There are many compatible modems for sale on Amazon.com and tech websites. You can also check community sites like Craigslist, where you may be able to score an even cheaper cable modem than buying one new.
- Make a Commitment
A cable company is far more likely to offer you a great deal if you’re willing to sign your name on the dotted line. Many companies will agree to give you a special deal if you’ll lock into a contract that removes your option to cancel at any time without penalty.
- Try Again
Don’t let rejection deter you when it comes to pursuing a sweet deal. It’s entirely possible to get two different responses from two different customer service agents. If your first phone call or email is unsuccessful, try calling or emailing again to communicate with a different representative. You can always ask to speak with a manager if the representative you’re dealing with is unable to go off script. Many managers can offer deals and make amendments to contracts that regular representatives are prohibited from doing.
