Million Dollar Island
NBC announced on Friday a new competition reality series titled Million Dollar Island, which will feature 100 contestants. 100 contestants will attempt to stay on a remote, desert island for up to 50 days. The contestants, who must build friendships and alliances to survive, will be competing to earn a share of the $1 million grand prize. Each contestant will be given a bracelet worth $10,000. Contestants then lose or gain bracelets after taking part in challenges. When a player is eliminated, they must choose who will receive their portion of the money. “We’re excited to partner with a powerhouse team to bring this fresh and bold social experiment to NBC. This series is sure to entertain with ever-evolving alliances, trust, deceit and the ultimate will to survive,” Jenny Groom, executive vice president, alternative programming and development at NBC said in a statement.

Cheaper Disney+ On The Way
Disney+ is set to offer a cheaper, ad-supported version of the streaming service in the U.S. starting in late 2022. Disney+ currently costs $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year without ads. “Expanding access to Disney+ to a broader audience at a lower price point is a win for everyone – consumers, advertisers and our storytellers,” Kareem Daniel, chairman, Disney media and entertainment distribution said in a statement on Friday. “More consumers will be able to access our amazing content. Advertisers will be able to reach a wider audience, and our storytellers will be able to share their incredible work with more fans and families,” Daniel continued. The ad-supported version of Disney+ will be expanded internationally in 2023. More details including launch date and pricing, will be announced at a later date.

Sherri Shepherd Wants Wendy As A Guest
Sherri Shepherd would love to have Wendy Williams on as a guest when she begins production of her own talk show She says she’s “so thankful” for Williams after it was announced that she will become the permanent guest host of Williams’ show. “I’m so thankful to Wendy for letting me fill in for her and letting me fill the gap to support her as all the other co-hosts have also done,” Shepherd told Deadline. “I’m thankful because if it wasn’t for Wendy the eyes wouldn’t have been on me. I’m so thankful to her. We’re all praying for her.” She began filling in for Williams on “The Wendy Williams Show” last year, while Williams dealt with various health issues. She has been battling the effects of Graves’ disease and other undisclosed health issues for months, sparking concern from worried fans and friends. Last week Williams’ rep issued a statement saying that Williams “understands” why Shepherd has been called in to replace her. “She, more than anyone, understands the reality of syndicated television — you can’t go to the marketplace and sell a show that’s the ‘Maybe Wendy Show,’” the statement read in part.

Pete Davidson thinks Kanye West’s kidnapping and burying a caricature of him in new video “Eazy” — is hilarious. “He finds the fact that Kanye included a cartoon version of him in his music video hysterical,” a source for Entertainment Tonight revealed of Davidson. “He is almost flattered by it all because it is so ridiculous to him.” The source added that he “is not threatened by Kanye in any way, shape or form. “He’s using this to grow in more ways than one, including for himself and his relationship with Kim,” the source continued. “He is turning all of the negativity into a positive thing.” The “Eazy” video gave life to the Game-featured viral hit that caught mass attention in January due to Kanye rapping about “beating Pete Davidson’s ass.” Davidson reportedly had a similar reaction to the song as he has to the video, with a source saying at the time, “Pete thinks it’s totally hilarious. Not just that — he thinks the whole [tabloid drama with him, West and Kardashian] is hilarious. He loves it.”

Marisa Tomei Hasn’t Been Paid For Comedy Movie
Marisa Tomei recently claimed that she’s yet to receive payment for her role in 2020 comedy, “The King of Staten Island,” but a source close to Pete Davidson, the film’s co-writer and star, says she was paid before production even began. “Marisa Tomei was 100 percent paid for the movie. In fact, she was paid upfront, over a million dollars,” a source familiar with the situation says. “She’s clearly confused.” Tomei claimed in a recent interview with Rolling Stone that she had to reach out to the “Saturday Night Live” star, 28, to ask about being stiffed on her salary for the film, a semi-autobiography of his life after losing father, fire fighter Scott Davidson, on Sept. 11 2001. She played his mother in the flick. “I actually just was talking to Pete today, because I was like, ‘I never got paid for that. Did you?,’” she said. “In this age of transparency, can we talk?” She continued, “But despite that, I had a rollicking good time. [With director] Judd [Apatow’s] approach to improv — which is extensive — I was intimidated. I’m with all these stand-up [comics]. It was so freeing. Really changed how I approach each character going forward.”

The Queen Leaves Buckingham Palace For Good
Queen Elizabeth will never fully return to Buckingham Palace and is all set to make the Windsor Castle her permanent home. The Queen will undertake future royal engagements from Berkshire home. She lived there with Prince Philip until his death in April last year. The Queen, who is celebrating Platinum Jubilee this year, is not believed to have stayed at the palace since 2020. Queen’s decision to stay at Windsor may have been influenced by the ongoing work at her central London home, where renovators will carry out works that will last until 2027. On March 3, the Queen also held Audiences via video link from Windsor Castle to Buckingham Palace.

Human Heads Stolen
A thief who broke into a freight truck in Denver this week made out with some macabre cargo: a box of human heads. According to a release from the Denver Police Department, the truck was parked in East Denver when someone broke in sometime between 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 and 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 3rd. The unknown suspect stole a dolly and a box labeled “Exempt Human Specimen.” The box was full of human heads meant to be used for medical research. The box also bore a “Science Care” label, KDVR reports. Science Care is a program for donating bodies to science for research and education purposes. At this point no arrests have been made, and investigators are working to gather more information and recover the stolen human remains, Denver police said on Saturday.

Woman Fights To Keep “FART” License Plate
A North Carolina woman is fighting the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles to keep her unusual personalized license plate, which reads “FART.” Karly Sindy of Asheville said she applied for the license plate in October and was pleasantly surprised when the request was approved and she was issued the “FART” plate for the back of her pickup truck. Sindy said she received a letter in the mail from DMV on Feb. 25 telling her that complaints had been lodged about the plate. The DMV told Sindy she might be allowed to keep the plate if she replied to the letter with an explanation of what the plate meant to her and why she believes she should be allowed to keep using it. Sindy consulted with some friends and founded a group titled Friends of Asheville Recreational Trails, or F.A.R.T. She said the group now has a mailing list, a website and merchandise. Sindy said the group recently held its first meeting, and 15 people showed up.

Wallet Returned With $4,000 Cash In It
A man from Honduras lost a wallet containing $4,000 cash in New York’s Times Square — and the billfold was returned to him with all of its contents intact. Eduardo Martinez, who works near Broadway, said he was rushing to work Wednesday morning when he dropped his wallet in Times Square, which was packed with tourists. Martinez said he was searching for the lost wallet when he was approached by two police officers who told him the wallet had been turned over by a fellow commuter who found it on the ground. Police confirmed the information on Martinez’s identification and handed over the wallet. The man said he was pleasantly surprised to discover the $4,000 still was inside. Martinez said he was grateful for the wallet’s return, and that the incident highlights the fact that there are still good people in the world.

Odd Vehicle Spotted On The Road
An unusual submarine-shaped vehicle that captured the attention of drivers on a Florida road was identified as an enclosed recumbent bicycle. Michael Ruede captured video when he spotted the bright yellow vehicle, which he compared to a “spaceship,” on U.S. 41 in Punta Gorda. Ruede said the vehicle was very low to the ground. “If there was somebody in there, they had to be lying back,” he told WBBH-TV. Michael Holm, owner of Fort Myers Cyclery, said the vehicle appears to be a recumbent bicycle — a bike in which the rider leans backward — with an expensive cover. “I would expect in the excess of $20,000,” Holm said. Ruede said the bike had a blinking red light, but became difficult to see once it was next to his car. “This is like begging to get hit or run over,” he said. Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Ken Watson said bicycles are allowed on U.S. 41, but he would have stopped the rider to discuss the visibility issue. See the video HERE.

The list of the most popular baby names in the U.S. doesn’t vary much from year to year, but when you look back over time, you’ll notice some interesting shifts.
Thanks to the Social Security Administration’s baby names database, it’s possible to see parents’ top picks going back to the 1880s and compare them to the trends today. We decided to do this with the most popular names 50 years ago. While some names that made the list back then remain popular today (think classics like William, James, Elizabeth and Michael), others have dropped significantly down in the ranking (shout-out to Tammy, Lisa, Dawn, Chad and Craig). And, of course, Karen has certainly had a fall from grace. Still, perhaps some of these names that dominated half a century ago are ripe for a comeback.
