Fred Willard Dies

Fred Willard has died, his family said Saturday. He was 86.  “My father passed away very peacefully last night at the fantastic age of 86 years old. He kept moving, working and making us happy until the very end,” his daughter Hope told People.com in a statement. “We loved him so very much!”  No cause of death was specified.  His TV and film credits date back to the 1960s and include Silver Streak, Roxanne, Permanent Midnight, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, The Wedding Planner, the Anchorman movies, The Bob Newhart Show, Get Smart and Love, American Style.  “How lucky that we all got to enjoy Fred Willard’s gifts. He is with his missed Mary now. Thanks for the deep belly laughs Mr. Willard,” actress Jamie Lee Curtis — Guest’s wife — tweeted.  Mary, Willard’s wife of 50 years, died in 2018.  Filmmaker Judd Apatow posted on Twitter: “Fred Willard could not have been funnier. He was pure joy. And the sweetest person you could ever meet.”

Oprah Leads Virtual Graduation

Oprah Winfrey gave a commencement speech to the nationwide class of 2020 via Facebook Live on Friday.  She had a message specifically for the class that had to finish senior year at home and graduate remotely.  “Even though there may not be pomp because of our circumstances, never has a graduating class been called to step into the future with more purpose, vision, passion, energy and hope,” Winfrey said.  She cited the Latin origin of the word “graduate.” “Gradus” means to step towards. She asked the class of 2020 to lead the way into post-pandemic society.  “Can you, the class of 2020, show us not how to put the pieces back together again but how to create a new and more evolved normal, a world more just, kind, beautiful, tender, luminous, creative, whole?” Winfrey said. “We need you to do this because the pandemic has illuminated the vast systemic inequities that have defined life for too many for too long.”  She suggested every graduate in 2020 could become an essential worker if they figure out what service they can provide the world.  The Office costars and writers Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak hosted the Facebook Live graduation, which showcased graduating classes in all 50 states. Originally scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. EDT, the live stream started 30 minutes late and continued to have technical glitches in its first hour.  Video frequently froze as the 2-hour graduation roll continued. Many celebrities recorded congratulatory messages.  Miley Cyrus also said congratulations and performed her song, “The Climb.”

Meghan Markle Has Some Kickboxing Skills

The Mirror got ahold of Meghan Markle’s old Hollywood one-sheet — an actress’ resume — and it is impressive.  Not only can Markle speak multiple languages, but she is trained in martial arts and kickboxing.  “I trained Meghan when she was in Toronto during the shooting of the series ‘Suits,’” Jorge Blanco, who trained Meghan in kickboxing and martial arts during the filming of “Suits,” told Spanish Vanity Fair.  “We did a little bit of martial arts, a little boxing, and sometimes kickboxing. I never really thought she could end up being a princess! I had a great time training with her because she’s super nice and speaks Spanish, with an Argentine accent.”  Other attributes assigned to Markle on the one sheet include ballet, jazz and tap dancing as well as experience in musical theatre. Markle also claimed to be fluent in Spanish, and proficient in French.
*****How do you think she “convinced” Harry to leave Britain?? Martial arts come in handy!!
*****He thought she had “marital” skills!! Not so much!!
*****She’s speaks several languages, and they all contain the word “gimme!!”

Kanye West’s Former Bodyguard Speaks Out

Kanye West’s former bodyguard, Steve Stanulis, is speaking out about his time working with the rapper.   He said during an interview on the Hollywood Raw podcast that he was one of his “least favorite people to work with” and had “ridiculous rules.”  “He wanted you to stay 10 paces behind him on a city street. So obviously, if someone is going to come up and do something, by the time I try to run up and prevent it, it would have already happened,” he said.  He also told a story of when he met West during fashion week and they had a standoff in an elevator.  He described: “The first day I met him … it was fashion week. I was supposed to meet him at the studio. When he gets there, we get into the elevator and he’s says, ‘Aren’t you going to push what floor we are going to?’ I was like, ‘I have no idea what floor, it’s my first day.’ So he starts ranting, ‘So you mean you didn’t call ahead to find out where I’m supposed to be going?” I said ‘no.’ So he’s ranting and raving. So I said, ‘Look bro, we can do this one of three ways. One, you could tell me what button to press, and now I’ll know. Two, you could press the button, and I’ll see which one you press so I’ll know. Or three, you can sit in here all day and tell me how important your time is and we are not going to go anywhere.’ Again, that was our first interaction. He went for the first option.”  Stanulis also discussed how he thought West and his wife, Kim Kardashian, called the paparazzi on themselves.
******Of course they call the paparazzi on themselves!! Most celebrities do… and they get kickbacks!! (true)
*****If stand right next to Kim’s ass, you’ll be about ten feet back!!
*****Is it smart to hire a guy with a weapon, and then start yelling at him??

Tara Reid May Play Carole Baskin

Tara Reid has her eye on “Tiger King.”  She is being considered for the role of Joe Exotic’s nemesis, Carole Baskin, in the live-action movie of the hit Netflix documentary series.  “We are in talks with the producers and she is being considered, that is all I can say at the moment as casting is on hold,” Philippe Ashfield, Reid’s manager and business partner, told The Post.  “Tara loves ‘Tiger King’ and found the documentary extremely interesting. She feels she could get into the character of Carole Baskin very well … and she has a similar look to [Baskin],” Ashfield added.  While both women are bottle blondes with big blue eyes, the leopard print-loving Baskin, 58, is more than a decade older than Reid, 44. There are currently several scripted “Tiger King” productions in the works — including a series starring Nicolas Cage as Exotic.
*****Wow… she’s really gotten over being molested by Biden, hasn’t she??
*****It must hurt to realize the person you’re playing is wayyy more famous than your are!!
******We have to admit… at this point, Carole is a lot hotter than Tara!!

AList Cyberattack Details To Be Released

A powerful A-list legal firm hit by a cyberattack is refusing to pay the shadowy hackers their $42 million ransom demand — meaning that a trove of details of some of the biggest deals in showbiz history, including Bruce Springsteen’s Netflix deal and Sean “Diddy” Combs’ rumored $100 million vodka deal, will be laid bare on the internet.  The US Secret Service and the FBI are continuing to probe hacking group REvil, who attacked the server of attorney Allen Grubman’s NYC firm and stole 756 gigabytes of confidential documents relating to his firm’s clients including Lady Gaga, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Priyanka Chopra and Bette Midler.  On Thursday the hackers upped the ante by doubling their ransom demands and threatening to publish “a ton of dirty laundry” on President Donald Trump — who is not a client of the NYC law firm Grubman, Shire, Meiselas and Sacks — next week if the law firm did not pay in full. It remains unclear if the hackers claims to have dirt on Trump are true.  A source with knowledge of the hack told Page Six, “Grubman isn’t going to pay these cyber-terrorists a penny, so it is likely all his files will end up released by the hackers. The source added, “Often, the most damaging details are in the personal emails of the stars and the executives — which is what happened with the 2014 Sony hack. But it is not known how many personal emails have been stolen from the Grubman hackers.”

Meg Rebounds With Regular Guy!-(National Enquirer)

She’s got male!  Meg Ryan has finally moved on with a new man!  Sources close to the “You’ve Got Mail” cutie revealed she’s dipping a toe back in the dating pool six months after dumping longtime beau John Mellencamp.  “As of recently, she’s spending time with a new guy,” snitched a spy.  “He’s not famous or in show business.  He’s a nice, regular guy from her home state!”  The Connecticut-born actress-who is mom to 28-year-old Jack, her son with ex-hubby Dennis Quaid-dated the “Hurts So Good” rocker, 68, for three years before their first split, in 2014.  They rekindled the romance in 2017.  But they confirmed their latest and final parting on Nov. 4, a year after announcing their engagement!  John has quickly moved on just a few weeks after their split.  “It only made Meg realize she was right to end it,” added the source.

Chris Pines For Sir Roger’s Role!-(Globe)

Hunky Chris Pine, 39, who played Captain Kirk in the 2009 “Star Trek” remake, is prepping to take over as “The Saint” in yet another big-screen reboot of a popular TV-based movie.  Val Kilmer starred in the hit 1997 film version of the spy thriller, while the late Roger Moore charmed international audiences in the 1960s TV series, playing debonair Simon Templar-a modern-day Robin Hood hottie who robs from the criminally rich!  Fun fact:  the trio of famous Saints all measure up at just about the same height.  Chris and Val stand tall at six-feet, while Sir Roger beat them by an inch.

Are They Ready for It?-(Us Weekly)

For some couples, self-isolation has proven to be tough-but not for Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn.  “They’ve still going strong,” a source says.  In fact, pals of Swift, 30, and Alwyn, 29, ‘think they’ll get engaged soon,” adds the source.

Ben’s $200K Promise-(Star)

Letting his heart run away with him, Ben Affleck gives new love Ana de Armas a pricey placeholder!  After Ben’s girlfriend, Ana, was spotted wearing a ruby sparkler, friends say the Way Back actor has already popped the question.  “Ben was originally planning to propose to Ana on her birthday, on April 30, spills a pal.  “But he was too excited to hold out, so he got down on one knee during a romantic dinner at his place.  Of course she said yes!”  Even more romantic:  The estimated $200K bauble-which Ana’s been wearing on her middle finger-is just a placeholder until the birthday girl can pick out a diamond ring for herself.  “They’re planning to go shopping for a bigger rock once the jewelry stores reopen,” explains the friend.

Casting Whitney Houston-(Life & Style)

An official Whitney Houston biopic, tentatively titled I Wanna Dance With Somebody, is in the works with the full support of the late singer’s estate.  But when the clock strikes upon the hour, who will portray the recording icon?   Zendaya, 23, “Is probably the front-runner,” reveals an insider.  “However, there are a lot of young actresses vying for the role.”  Hunger Games alum Amandla Stenberg, 21, Black-ish star Yara Shahidi, 20, and 26-year-old Keke Palmer-who turned down the part in Lifetime’s made-for-TV movie-are among those allegedly eager to see the script being penned by Bohemian Rhapsody’s screenwriter.  “There’s good reason for all of the competition to play Whitney,” adds the insider.  “This role is going to change someone’s life.  Maybe even win her an Oscar.”

Channing Tatum & Jessie J:  Back On?-(People)

They’ve dated on and off since 2018 and last split earlier this spring-but the actor, 40, and singer, 32, are hanging out again.  Days after a motorcycle ride in L.A., Tatum was spotted at her house May 4.  Says a source:  “Channing seems very happy.”

“For the second year in a row, Kylie Jenner was named the world’s youngest self-made billionaire. The announcement was made in Now’s Not the Time magazine.”-Colin Jost.

“Rachel McAdams said she’s interested in doing a sequel to Mean Girls-but personally, I think joining the Real Housewives franchise is beneath her.”-Will Presti.

“A former friend of Meghan Markle says that Meghan is ‘like licorice-you either love her or you hate her.’  This just in:  The royal family hates licorice.”-David Spade

Snack Run Turns Into Jackpot

A North Carolina man said making a snack run paid off when he won a $1 million jackpot from a scratch-off lottery ticket.  Stephen Howell of Graham told North Carolina Education Lottery officials he went to the Fairview One Stop in Haw River to pick up some drinks and snacks for his family and decided to buy a few $10 scratch-off tickets while at the store.  Howell later scratched the tickets off at home and discovered one of the tickets, a Red Hot Millions scratch-off, was a $1 million winner.  The astonished winner said he rushed into the next room to tell his mother.  “I handed her the ticket,” he recalled. “And she said, ‘You won a million dollars!'”  Howell said he is considering a new car purchase with his winnings.

Messy Peacocks On The Loose

Residents of a Florida neighborhood are complaining about a loud and messy flock of peacocks that has taken up residence in the area.  Residents of the Hillside Terrace area of Brandon said a pair of peacocks moved into the neighborhood several years ago and the flock has since grown to more than 50 birds.  The peacocks are currently in their mating season, which residents said involves noise keeping them up all night and increased messes outside their homes.  Some neighbors said they have even had to evict peacocks from inside their homes.  Hillsborough County officials said the peacocks aren’t regulated as pets because no one has claimed ownership of them, but the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the birds also aren’t considered wildlife, so the agency doesn’t have jurisdiction over them.
*******It’s mating season… so there are little peacock condoms everywhere!!
*****They’re all on “Peacock Tinder,” which means they either flap left or flap right!!
****Gee… no government agency has jurisdiction over the peacocks?? How about just get rid of ’em??

Trivia Night Breaks Record

A pub quiz host who took his games online during the COVID-19 pandemic set a Guinness World Record when 182,513 households signed on to play along.  Jay Flynn, who hosted trivia quiz nights at pubs in England before the coronavirus crisis, took his games online for the Virtual Pub Quiz, allowing fans to continue playing while on lockdown in their homes.  Guinness said the Virtual Pub Quiz set a record for the most viewers of a quiz YouTube live stream when his April 30 game was attended virtually by 182,513 households.  Flynn’s games have raised more than $200,000 for National Health Service Charities United.

Blow-Up Dolls Used In Restaurant

A South Carolina restaurant partially reopening for dine-in customers is keeping the tables compliant with social distancing guidelines by filling the dining room with blow-up dolls.  The Open Hearth restaurant in Taylors closed its dining room due to the COVID-19 pandemic March 17 and was allowed to reopen this week with a reduced capacity and a requirement that customers are seated 6 feet apart.  The owners of the eatery, Paula Starr Melehes and her husband, Jimmy, said they didn’t want the restaurant to look empty when customers came in to eat.  “Instead of using scary, yellow tape or roping off the empty tables, I thought, ‘We’re going to make this restaurant look full,'” Melehes told WYFF-TV.  Melehes said she ordered “the G-rated kind” of inflatable dolls from Amazon, dressed them up like customers and seated them at tables that would be off-limits to diners.  “My grandson told me they look kind of creepy,” Melehes said. “But, I think, when people walk in, they’re going to laugh.”
*******One weirdo brought his blow-up doll as his date!! For once, they fit right in!!

8 Stats That Show How Coronavirus Has Changed Our Spending Habits

Huffington Post

  1. A Third Of Americans Are Stress-Spending

With a global pandemic at hand, it’s no surprise that many people are feeling more stressed out than usual. There are many different coping strategies for stress, and for some, it’s spending money.

A recent survey by Credit Karma found that 35% of respondents made impulse buys to deal with stress during the coronavirus.

Among those who said they’ve made impulse purchases, close to half (45%) said they spend money because of stress at least once a week. Another 17% make impulse buys daily.

The survey also found that nearly one in five (18%) respondents are actually spending more now than they were before the pandemic.

  1. Entertainment And Alcohol Make Up Half Of All Nonessential Spending

Though you’re probably spending less money going out to bars and movies (like, none at all), there’s a good chance your spending on other escapist activities has increased.

Americans are spending the most nonessential money on entertainment (29%) and alcohol (23%) right now, according to a survey by WalletHub. Eighteen percent of respondents admitted that they’re actually overspending on nonessentials as well.

  1. Online Shopping Is Up 60% Over Last Year

With more time stuck at home and most nonessential stores closed down, Americans have taken their shopping online. Online sales of consumer packaged goods are up 60% over the same week last year, according to Nielsen data for the week ending April 25.

Of the items purchased online, food is up the most: 86% for the one-week period ending April 25 versus the same week in 2019. That’s followed by household care (up 51%), health and beauty care (up 49%), pet care (up 24%) and baby care (up 23%).

  1. Hand Sanitizer Sales Grew More Than Any Other Item In Stores

Though we’re forced to do more shopping online, essential businesses are still open to the public ― and the one item that’s seen the biggest surge in sales at physical stores is hand sanitizer.

Hand sanitizer takes the number one spot for in-store week-over-week sales growth. Last week, it held the third position but rose as people restocked their health and safety products. Sales of the stuff have also increased a whopping 420% over a year ago, according to Nielsen.

Behind hand sanitizer, the fastest-growing in-store purchases are oat milk (up 308% over the previous year), fresh meat alternatives (up 224%), baking powder (up 170%) and aerosol disinfectants (up 158%).

  1. Frozen Items Are The Most-Purchased Foods

As Americans worry about limiting their trips to the grocery store and potential disruptions to food supply chains, many are focused on buying foods that keep for a long time.

Not surprisingly, frozen foods are the top growing in-store purchases (up 47% year over year), according to Nielsen data. That’s followed by meat (up 41%) and dairy (up 32%) as consumers continue to load up on food staples.

  1. Spending On Transportation Is Way Down

Not only are we spending more time in isolation, but attitudes toward public transportation have also shifted considerably in the past month, according to a survey by IBM.

More than 20% of respondents who regularly relied on buses, subways or trains said they no longer will, while another 28% said they will likely use public transportation less often.

Ride-sharing apps are also suffering. More than half of those surveyed who had used ride-sharing apps and services said they will stop using them completely or use them less. Only 24% said they will stop using taxis and other traditional car services.

Just over 17% of respondents said they will rely on their personal vehicles to get around, with about one in four saying that that will be their exclusive mode of transportation going forward.

Many of those who were in the market for a new car are now waiting on the purchase, with about a quarter saying they plan to hold off for more than six months.

  1. 40% Of Spenders Rely On Contactless Payment

There have been concerns over physical cash and its potential to spread the coronavirus. In light of this, consumers are turning to technology to mitigate their risk.

Nearly 40% of respondents said they are likely to use contactless payment options via their mobile device or credit card when shopping, according to the IBM survey.

  1. A Quarter Of Shoppers Are Buying More From Local Businesses

With mandatory shutdown orders for nonessential businesses, even major retailers are feeling the pinch. Smaller mom and pop shops are especially hurting financially, which has prompted some people to prioritize shopping locally.

Some 25% of respondents in the IBM survey said they are now shopping more often at locally owned stores and buying more locally made, grown or sourced products.
