QUESTION: If white wedding gowns symbolize “purity,” what do these BLACK WEDDING GOWNS signify?? It doesn’t matter, because black gowns are a THING!!
Weddings typically aren't the occasion to throw convention to the wind, but some brides are doing just that with at least one centerpiece of their nuptials — the white wedding dress. Among wedding trends heating up, sellers have noted a surge in interest in black bridal gowns. According to Google Trends, searches for "black wedding dress" have kept pace with searches for "white wedding dress" over the past 12 months. In Sept and Oct 2021, "black wedding dress" was searched more than "white wedding dress" on Google. "This is by far our favorite trend and we are loving it. Black gowns are chic and dramatic," said Laura McKeever, senior manager of brand PR, philanthropy and communications with David's Bridal, one of largest sellers of wedding gowns in the United States.

SNL Cast Members Say Goodbye

Longtime cast members Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney officially departed Saturday Night Live in this weekend’s Season 47 finale.  Davidson confirmed his exit during the “Weekend Update” segment, joking producer “Lorne [Michaels] accidentally gifted me a sock, so I’m free,” a nod to how a house elf in the Harry Potter mythology escaped enslavement when a human gave him clothing.  Davidson recalled that when he auditioned for SNL nearly a decade ago, Michaels told him he didn’t think he was right for the show, but added, “Let’s screw this up together.”  McKinnon revived her character Coleen Rafferty, who gets abducted and abused by space aliens, then thrown back to Earth for her final episode’s cold open.  Bryant also once again played her no-nonsense U.S. Pentagon interviewer, who tries not to laugh at Rafferty’s hilarious, graphic, sometimes disgusting descriptions of her ordeal.  The sketch ended with Coleen getting on a spaceship after government officials trade her for cutting-edge alien technology.  She says as she fights back tears: “Well, Earth, I love you. Thanks for letting me stay awhile. Live from New York, it’s Saturday night.”  McKinnon was on the show for 11 years and Bryant for 10.  Bryant also appeared on “Weekend Update” with Bowen Yang as their Trend Forecasters characters where she declared what is “in” this season is “my best guys kissing me,” which prompted Yang and “Update” co-anchor Michael Che to smooch her and present her with flowers.

I’m feeling very blessed. Much Love, <3 VK,” Kilmer, who appears as Iceman in a cameo, posted Friday.  The message included a link to a Variety story about how the U.S. Navy pilot drama received a 5-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival in France this week.  Starring Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm and Miles Teller, the film currently holds a 96% “fresh” rating on the review roundup website Rotten Tomatoes.  It will open exclusively in theaters on May 27 after a two-year delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Red Power Ranger Charged With COVID Fraud

Austin St. John, known for his role as the red Power Ranger, has been charged with COVID-19 aid fraud.  St. John was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Texas. The FBI and IRS are investigating.  He is one of 19 people, led by Michael Hill and Andrew Moran, who allegedly put together a fraud scheme to illegally obtain funding from the Small Business Administration’s (SBA’s) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).  The group allegedly obtained 16 loans totaling $3.5 million by using existing businesses or new businesses to apply to the program.  “Once in receipt of the fraudulently obtained funds, the defendants did not use the money as intended, such as to pay employee salaries, cover fixed debt or utility payments or continue health care benefits for employees,” the U.S. Attorney’s press release states. “Instead, the defendants typically paid Hill and Moran, transferred money to their personal accounts and spent the funds on various personal purchases.”  Each defendant could spend up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Wendy Williams At Odds With Financial Guardian

Wendy Williams isn’t happy with a court appointing her a financial guardian amid her lawsuit against Wells Fargo.  Her attorney said in a statement Friday that Williams doesn’t want anyone but her to have control of her money in response to the Sun’s report about a judge’s decision to appoint a guardian.  “Please be advised that Wendy is not in agreement with the appointment of a financial guardian by the court. Wendy has been very clear that she does not want a financial guardian to tell her what she can and cannot do with her money,” La’Shawn Thomas said.  He added that she “feels that she is capable” of hiring her own team who would work for her “and not the court.”  Thomas went so far as to suggest that Wells Fargo may have leaked the report “in an attempt to lessen the public outcry and regulatory scrutiny mounting around” the bank.  A spokesperson for Wells Fargo previously denied “any allegations of improper actions with respect to Ms. Williams’ accounts.”
**********Are they taking advantage of her because she has Gravy Disease???

Amber Heard’s “Lack Of Chemistry” With Aquaman

DC Comics fans almost got their wish for Amber Heard to be fired from the upcoming “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” according to her talent agent.  Viewers have petitioned Warner Bros. for months to remove Heard from the superhero film sequel amid her controversial defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp.  Heard’s WME agent, Jessica Kovacevic, testified Thursday during the trial that Warner Bros. claimed it was Heard’s “lack of chemistry” with her “Aquaman” co-star Jason Momoa that almost got her canned.  In her pre-recorded deposition, the agent addressed “online rumors” that Warner Bros. wanted to replace Heard, and also said she believed the studio wanted her out as Princess Mera due to the bad publicity stemming from the contentious court case.  Kovacevic noted that in her opinion, the studio didn’t “want to hire someone who has bad press,” adding, “No one wants that association.”  This comes after Amber alleged during the trial that she “had to fight really hard to keep my career” amid her battle with Johnny.  “I lost opportunities. I got dropped from jobs and campaigns. I fought to keep my job and the biggest movie opportunity I had to date [with] ‘Justice League’ with the option to [star in] ‘Aquaman,’ ” she said.  She allegedly only has about 10 minutes of screen time in the sequel, out in March 2023.
********Can we cut that down to 9 minutes??
*****We’re trying figure out who the winner is in this court case, but so far they both look like losers!!

Largest Duck, Duck, Goose

More than 2,000 students from three Indiana high schools came together Friday to attempt a Guinness World Record for the largest game of Duck, Duck, Goose.  The Vigo County School Corp. said students from the district’s three high schools convened Friday morning at Terre Haute South to play a massive game of Duck, Duck, Goose.  School officials said the game had to last for at least 16 minutes to conform with rules set by Guinness World Records.  Superintendent Rob Haworth said officials believe the record was successfully broken, but they are waiting for official word from Guinness.  The previous record of 2,135 people was set in 2011 by the Logan-Rogersville School District in Missouri.

Woman Hides Fentanyl In Her Privates

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in El Paso say they were working at the Bridge of the Americas border crossing earlier this week when they found a woman with fentanyl stashed in her vagina.  The 40-year-old U.S. citizen, who was not named in the release, was found to have 0.006 pounds of fentanyl inside of her, that release said. If the Drug Enforcement Agency‘s analysis that two milligrams of fentanyl can kill, the woman had enough fentanyl to kill roughly 1,360 people.  CBP says a canine alerted officers to the fentanyl and following a pat down search the woman “voluntarily removed a condom filled with fentanyl pills from her vaginal cavity,” CBP wrote. They shared a photo of the carrier.

Woman Switches To Real Horse Power

Stephanie Kirchner’s journey to work has got longer but, she says, cheaper: she has left her SUV at home and switched to real horse power.  Stud farm owner and horse trainer Kirchner says she decided “it can’t go on like this” after fuel prices jumped. “Since I also suspected hay harvesting and everything else will become much, much more expensive, we said, ‘we have to save a little money,’” she says.  So she has switched to traveling the roughly 3 1/2 miles from her home in western Germany by horse-drawn carriage. That turns a one-way trip from 10-15 minutes to as much as an hour.  But Kirchner calculates that, given how much fuel her Toyota SUV consumes, she saves about $264 per month if she can use horse power every day.  Her carriage, drawn by two horses, is popular with children and some others. But “of course humanity is hectic and then some people are annoyed if they can’t get past me fast enough,” Kircher says.

If You’re About To Quit Your Job, Delete These 5 Things From Your Computer

Huffington Post

  1. Personal Files Like Photos And Tax Documents

Ideally, you should not be using your work laptop for personal items, but as work and life boundaries blur, it’s easy to forget.

If you are planning an exit, you’ll first want to get rid of any personal files like family photos.

“Generally speaking, if it is permitted in an employee handbook, employees should delete their personal files from a work computer/phone before they leave an employer,” Grama said. “If I stored pictures of my kids on my work phone, I would want to move those files to my own personal storage and delete them from the work device.”

If you downloaded sensitive documents to print at your office, like your W-2 or other tax papers, be sure to delete those, too. “Highly recommend deleting personal files, tax documents, contacts and personal photos,” said Nick Santora, CEO of the security awareness training platform Curricula.

  1. Your Browser History

Want to delete any embarrassing Google searches? Grama also recommended deleting your browser history and any passwords that your browser may have saved for you.

For Chrome, select History, then “clear browsing data,” and then select the appropriate time range. On Firefox, once you select History, you will have the option to “clear recent history.”

  1. Any Personal Apps, Software Or Extensions You Downloaded

If you downloaded a bank app or Venmo on a work-issued phone, make sure to delete those before you leave. You should also think about similar items on your laptop.

“If I had downloaded applications, software, or browser extensions for my own use and not used for company purposes, I would probably delete that from the work device as well,” Grama advised. “On my last day, I would also log out of any active applications that I use for work and I would empty the computer’s recycle bin.”

As part of your clean-up process, consider whether you need to update the email address you use to subscribe to any services or newsletters.

“If the newsletter is one that I still want to receive after I leave the employer and it is not a newsletter for my employer, then I will want to change the email address to a personal one,” Grama said. “If the newsletter is one that I no longer want to receive, I could unsubscribe from it, just to keep my work email tidy for whomever might be monitoring it once I leave.“

  1. Personal Messaging Apps And Cookies

Your employer can potentially have access to your personal messaging apps, like Apple Messages or Google Hangouts, if you leave them on your work computer, so be sure to take those off, too.

”A lot of people will log in to their personal accounts — think iMessage — on their work computer,” said Andrew Stanek, data science manager at Pave, a compensation startup. “I always suggest logging out of these and clearing your cookies so they don’t stay on the work computer.”

Web browsers also store cookies, which contain information about your website activity and preferences.

On Chrome, select Chrome from the top menu, then “clear browsing data.” From there you will have the option to clear all your cookies. On Firefox, click Privacy & Security, then the “cookies and site data” option. On Safari, choose “clear history” from the Safari tab of the drop-down menu.

  1. Passwords

If you’ve ever used your work computer for anything personal, you likely saved a password. Be sure to wipe those off before you leave.

“Most of the time work computers will also be used as personal devices on occasion. This means that your passwords and account for personal websites might also remain unless you intentionally delete them off the device,” Santora said. “It’s best to disconnect any type of iCloud or Google Sync to ensure none of your personal information is left behind to your former employer.”
