Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde End Relationship

Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles have ended their two-year romance, according to multiple media reports.  People.com, UsMagazine.com and E! News said Friday they have confirmed the split.  “He’s still touring and is now going abroad. She is focusing on her kids and her work in L.A.,” People.com quoted one source as saying. “It’s a very amicable decision.”  They had been dating since around January 2021 when they collaborated on the film, Don’t Worry, Darling.  Wilde shares daughter Daisy, 6, and son Otis, 8, with her ex-fiancee, Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis.  Wilde denied leaving Sudeikis, 46, for Styles in an interview for the October 2022 issue of Vanity Fair, which was released in September.  “The complete [expletive] idea that I left Jason for Harry is completely inaccurate,” Wilde said.  “Our relationship was over long before I met Harry. Like any relationship that ends, it doesn’t end overnight,” she added.
*****She had already broken up with Jason… he just didn’t know it!!
****Most breakups pick up momentum when a better deal presents itself!!

Ticketmaster Apologizes For Taylor Swift Debacle

After millions of loyal Taylor Swift fans waited in hours-long queues over a span of two days only to be shut out, Ticketmaster issued a formal apology to their customers, Friday night.  “We want to apologize to Taylor and all of her fans – especially those who had a terrible experience trying to purchase tickets. We feel we owe it to everyone to share some information to help explain what happened,” Ticketmaster announced on their Twitter account.  Attached to Ticketmaster’s post was a link explaining in detail why fans had a terrible experience while attempting to purchase tickets.  The ticket sales and distribution company broke down their explanation in three parts, describing that the demand for Swift’s highly anticipated tour smashed records – and parts of its website.  “By requiring registrations, Verified Fan is designed to help manage high demand shows… Keeping bots out of queues and avoiding overcrowding helps to make wait times shorter and onsales smoother,” Ticketmaster explained.  However, despite handling onsales for “countless top tours,” the site continued to state the following.  “Never before has a Verified Fan onsale sparked so much attention – or traffic. This disrupted the predictability and reliability that is the hallmark of our Verified Fan platform.” Ticketmaster then accompanied its apology statement with a chart to compare their site traffic throughout the past year, with Swift’s tour skyrocketing on Nov. 15.  The company’s last tier of explanation was titled “Despite the disruptions a new sales record was set.”  The site mentioned more than 2 million tickets were sold – “the most tickets ever sold for an artist in a single day.”  Meanwhile, Ticketmaster encouraged fans to set their frustrations aside, while promising “we know we can do more to improve the experience and that’s what we’re focused on.”
**********And when they DO improve the experience, there will be an additional charge for that!!
*****It’s funny that they mention bots.. because we think Taylor Swift IS a bot!!

Tom Cruise Disrupts Filming

Tom Cruise’s British commute is allegedly disrupting the filming of the BBC drama “Call the Midwife,” star Jenny Agutter claims in a new interview.  “Tom Cruise keeps on ruining our filming by landing his helicopter right outside where we’re shooting,” the actress told Mirror.  Cruise, who holds a pilot license, reportedly flew his helicopter over the “Midwife” set in Surrey, England, causing quite the ruckus while the cast attempted to shoot scenes. Cruise appears to be in town filming “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.”  A rep for Cruise did not immediately return a Post request for comment. Agutter, who plays Sister Julienne, was asked if she’d give Cruise a talking-to about his allegedly rude chopper habits.  “In my habit! Imagine. ‘Excuse me, Tom, but look, we’re trying to film. I don’t know about you, but just get your helicopter out of here quickly!’” she quipped.
*******They don’t realize: the Queen gave Tom Cruise a Royal Grant to be able to fly anywhere in the UK, anytime he wants!!

Simon Cowell Still Not Wearing A Helmet

Simon Cowell admits he’s “officially nuts” for still riding his electric bike without a helmet after multiple accidents.  When asked at a Broadway opening on Thursday whether he protects his head, he told Page Six, “Not yet, but I will.”  Cowell’s fiancée, Lauren Silverman piped in, confessing that she “wishe[s] he would wear a helmet.”  He went on to explain why he continues to ride the device that left him nearly paralyzed in August 2020.  “I need to get healthy, and I don’t like walking,” Cowell said, noting that he won’t use a regular bicycle because it’s more difficult to tackle steep hills.  “I’m out on it literally every single day,” he continued. “I get exercise.”  Cowell’s statements come two years after he broke his back in three places riding his $20,000 bike outside his Malibu mansion.  Following the accident, he underwent a six-hour surgery to repair his spine, with doctors inserting a metal rod into his back.  Cowell experienced another bike mishap earlier this year, which resulted in a broken arm.  “I’m a bit of a nutter,” he told the Daily Mail in February. “I’ll definitely wear a helmet next time.”
********Why start now?? He’s already screwed up his brain, obviously!!
*****At least wear a cup!!!
******He’s now concerned that his chest hair might be thinning out as he grows older!!

Adele Opens Up Vegas Residency

Adele fans were finally greeted with the opening night of her “Weekends with Adele” residency in Las Vegas on Friday.  The show featured a 20-song set complete with jokes, flames, confetti, and an array of classics.  The concert at Caesars Palace marked the first of 32 Adele shows at the venue, coming nearly a year after she postponed the Las Vegas residency in late January. At the time, she told fans that she “tried my hardest” to pull the show together in time, but fell short. But now, the show is seemingly right where she wants it to be.  “Thank you so much for coming back to me,” she told the crowd, per The Guardian. “It looks just like I imagined it would, it’s just perfect, thank you.”  The packed venue of 4,100 fans watched, on walls of video screens at times, as the singer opened with No. 1 single “Hello,” and played through other hits like “Send My Love (To Your New Lover),” “Rumor Has It,” “When We Were Young,” “Someone Like You,” and “Rolling in the Deep.” She also made sure to include some of her latest tracks off her November 2021 release 30, such as “I Drink Wine,” “Love Is a Game,” and “Hold On.”
*********It’s been awhile since she postponed.. she also celebrated her 50th birthday!!
UPDATE: She turned down a suite at Caesar’s because it wasn’t NICE ENOUGH!! “Diva, Las Vegas???”

Al Roker Hospitalized

Al Roker is recovering after he was hospitalized last week for blood clots, the NBC “Today” show weather anchor said Friday.  “So many of you have been thoughtfully asking where I’ve been. Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs,” Roker, 68, announced on Instagram.  “After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery,” he wrote. “Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers and hope to see you soon. Have a great weekend, everyone.”  His co-anchors wished him well online and on the show.  “Al Roker– hurry back to us… counting the days xoxoxo,” Hoda Kotb said in a comment on Roker’s post.  “He’s in good spirits, we’ve all talked to him,” Savannah Guthrie said on Friday’s show.  It wasn’t immediately announced whether Roker would be able to co-host NBC’s coverage of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which he has done since 1995.
*******Rumor has it that the vaccine causes blood clots.. but that rumor was killed very quickly!!
******Is Al Roker the last person you thought would go to the hospital? Uh… no, not really!!

Princess Cruise-(Star)

Oct. 19

Meow!  The Crown’s Elizabeth Debicki donned an animal-print swimsuit much like the one-piece Princess Diana wore while cruising the French Riviera with boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed in July 1997, just weeks before the couple died in a Paris car crash.  Not afraid to make waves, the Netflix drama about the royal family was recently forced to add a disclaimer, emphasizing that the show is a “dramatization….inspired by real events,” after former prime minister Sir John Major criticized the Emmy-winning series for including a conversation in the upcoming fifth season between him and Prince Charles about the Queen abdicating.  It was, he said, a “load of malicious nonsense.”

Owl Stuck In Car Grille

Wildlife rescuers in Colorado said a great horned owl is recovering after being removed from the front grille of a pickup truck.  Colorado Parks and Wildlife said the owl was likely swooping low to catch prey when it ended up embedded in the front grille of a pickup truck Monday night in the Colorado Springs area.  Travis Sauder, a district wildlife manager, responded to the scene and was able to extract the owl from the truck.  Sauder said the owl’s wing was not broken and the avian is now receiving rehabilitation at the nonprofit Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center in Pueblo.

Modified Couple

A married couple with a total 98 body modifications earned a Guinness World Record for their collective number of piercings, microdermals, body implants and other modifications.  Guinness World Records said Gabriela Peralta, who is from Argentina, and Victor Hugo Peralta, originally from Uruguay, first earned the record for most body modifications (married couple) in 2014, when they had a total 84 body modifications.  The record-keeping organization said the couple’s total modifications has since increased to 98.  The couple met at a motorcycle event in Argentina 24 years ago and bonded over their mutual interest in body modification. They have now been married for 14 years.

Florida Man Apologizes During Crime

A Florida suspect who ran from police after being stopped for allegedly driving 110 mph with a suspended license apparently was courteous enough to yell “I’m sorry” as he darted in between vehicles across the freeway.   Suspect Zachary Sibert decided to “play ‘frogger’ across I-95” after he was stopped for speeding, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department said in a release on Facebook Friday.  “The good news is that Sibert yelled ‘I’m Sorry’ to our Deputy as he took off running and while he was a courteous criminal, he was not very smart as after a short time of hiding out in Buffer Preserve, he located a vehicle and said he would pay the driver to take him back up to the area of the interstate,” the release said. The department said deputies later found him hiding in the backseat of the vehicle.   “I guess he forgot he was in Brevard County where we chase you and hunt you down if you run from us, so much to his surprise our Agents were still in the area and located Sibert,” the release said.

Owner Offers Free Tesla With Home Purchase

A New Zealand property owner is hoping to stand out from other sellers by offering a free Tesla to the person who buys their home.  The house – a seven-bedroom, five-bathroom property – has reportedly been on the market for weeks.  The owner has thrown in the offer of a new car to try to sweeten the $1.8million deal.  New Zealand house prices have seen their biggest drop in 30 years and were down 10.9% in October – their 11th consecutive month of falling.  “Rising mortgage rates continue to weigh on house prices and sale activity,” said Kiwibank economists in a note.  So, the owners of 22 Dungloe Avenue, Flat Bush, had to drop the price and do something to stand out from the other 400+ listings in the Auckland suburb, Barfoot & Thompson residential sales agent Kapil Rana told Stuff.co.nz.

How to Get a Free Turkey This Year

The Penny Hoarder

Luckily, there are a number of grocers who offer free turkey promotions to bring more hungry holiday shoppers into their stores and to help keep budgets in check.

In general, it’s not worth it to spend $300 on random items just to score a bird you could get for $20 to $30. But if you’re going to spend that money anyway, why not get the turkey on the house?

Think about some of the food you’ll be making for December celebrations and if you need to stock up on spices, dried herbs or other shelf-stable ingredients, you can buy those now. Stock, flour, sugar, canned goods and more will keep through the next cooking cycle.

One word of warning on our list: All of these offers vary by store, so you’ll want to call ahead to make sure your favorite location is participating.

Here are stores that have announced their free turkey promos for 2022.

  1. Acme Markets

Acme is giving away free turkeys when you clip the free turkey coupon in the Acme for U app.

Then, you’ll have to spend $300 or more while shopping in store through Nov. 24. After you’ve met that minimum spend, you can claim your free turkey at the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states chain.

  1. Foodtown

Foodtown locations in the Northeast are rewarding customers with a free 10- to 20-pound turkey when they shop with their Club Card. You will need to spend $400 before Thanksgiving.

If you don’t want a whole frozen turkey, you also have the option to choose a ham or a $10 Foodtown gift card.

  1. Giant

If you can bank 400 Giant Choice Reward points by Nov. 24, you can redeem your points for a certificate for a free turkey up to 20 pounds.

If turkey isn’t your thing, you can also redeem your certificate for a free Stouffer’s family-size lasagna or a free tofurky roast. You can also choose to donate your turkey through Giant to a local food bank.

You can redeem your certificate beginning Nov. 11.

  1. Hy-Vee

Purchase a Hormel Cure 81 ham by Dec. 13, and Hy-Vee will reward you with a free 10- to 14-pound Honeysuckle turkey. For each ham purchased, they will also put 50 cents on your Fuel Saver card. The amount of hams you can buy to receive this deal is unlimited.

  1. ShopRite

First, you have to earn points on purchases from Oct. 16 through Thanksgiving with your Price Plus club card.

Once you spend a certain amount (check your local store’s circular for details), present your Price Plus club card to the cashier to receive one of 10 free items, including a free turkey up to 21 pounds, turkey breast, chicken, lasagna, Gardein plant-based roast, tofurky, ham or a whole picnic.

You can pick up your free item any day up to and including Thanksgiving Day.

  1. Weis Market

If you’re part of Weis’ rewards program, your reward points could get you a Thanksgiving turkey for free.

It’s pretty simple: You earn one point for every dollar you spend, and it takes 400 points to receive a free turkey, tofurky roast, tofurky ham, frozen lasagna or frozen mac and cheese.

You also have the option to purchase discounted turkeys and hams after earning 200 points. For example, a Weis frozen turkey can be had for 59 cents per pound after you spend 200 points in the rewards program.

It’s important to note that your points do have an expiration date, which is printed on the bottom of your receipts. You can claim your free turkey until Nov. 24.

  1. WinCo

If you spend $125 on a trip to WinCo between Nov. 14 and Nov. 23, you can get a free Jennie-O Grade A turkey.

This deal is limited to one turkey per family, while supplies last. And if you’re a Butterball fan, you’re out of luck. The free deal is for Jennie-O turkeys only.

Where to Get a Turkey for Cheap

According to the USDA, the average price of a whole turkey this year is $1.99 per pound, up from $1.21 per pound just last year. However, this number will vary greatly by region.

Here are some other stores offering reasonable prices, and some stores where we can expect prices to go down during Thanksgiving promotions over the next few weeks.

  1. Aldi

Whole turkeys are currently going for $1.07 per pound, as advertised at Aldi.

This is lower than the average, but Aldi is known for offering even lower prices during the week of Thanksgiving.

  1. City Market

City Market currently sells a Kroger brand frozen, whole turkey (10 to 14 pounds) for $21.48 and a Butterball frozen turkey for $23.88. These will run you around $1.53 to $2.15 per pound, depending on the size of the turkey.

Keep an eye out for even better deals throughout the month of November. In the past, City Market, a Kroger store in the Rocky Mountains region, has offered deals for shoppers who met a minimum spend of $25.

  1. Cub Food

Currently, Cub Food offers a range of whole turkeys for sale — including 12- to 15-pound Butterballs at $2.39 per pound, an 18-pound Essential Every Day turkey for $35.82 ($1.99 per pound) and an 8-pound Honeysuckle frozen turkey breast for $23.92 ($2.99 per pound).

But keep your eyes on the Cub Food weekly ads in the coming weeks. Turkeys have been discounted in the two weeks leading up to Thanksgiving in past years. Good news for folks in Illinois and Minnesota, where the Cub Food stores are located.

  1. Meijer

Currently, you can get a Meijer or Honeysuckle frozen turkey at the Midwestern chain Meijer for $1.99 per pound.

However, this is another store that tends to offer great promotional pricing during the month of November, especially for the store’s mPerks members.

  1. Safeway

This large chain store also has a wide variety of whole frozen turkey options.

The brands range from Butterball to O Organics to Open Nature to Honeysuckle. Depending on the brand, prices are typically offered between $1.99 to $3.49 per pound.

  1. Shaw’s

Shaw’s also has the usual brand name offerings like Butterball and O Organics, plus more, that sell for between $2.19 and $4.99 per pound.

In the past during the week of Thanksgiving, Shaw’s offered discounted turkeys to customers who made a $25 purchase. Look out for other possible deals like that to save you a lot of money at the Northeastern food chain.

Shaw’s also tends to price match during the holiday season, so if you see a lower price elsewhere be sure to talk to your cashier.

  1. Walmart

Walmart currently offers some of the best deals on this list with incredible savings.

They currently have a 16- to 24-pound Butterball turkey for $24.49 or $1.18 per pound. You can also choose a 10- to 16-pound Butterball for $16.91, the same size Great Value turkey for $13.82 (98 cents per pound), or a 16- to 24-pound Jennie O frozen turkey for $20.92 (also 98 cents per pound).

  1. Wegmans

Currently, you can get a Wegmans frozen turkey for $2.79 per pound, as well as a Shady Brook brand whole turkey for $1.69 per pound, or $23.32 for a 14-pound bird.

In years past, the beloved Northeast food chain now in some Mid-Atlantic states has offered turkey for a nice discount in the two weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, and also offers a price-match guarantee.

  1. Weis Market

Maybe earning 400 points to get a free turkey isn’t reasonable for your household. But if you rack up at least 200 points prior to Thanksgiving, you can get a fresh turkey for $1.49 per pound at Weis, a Mid-Atlantic states chain.

Redeem your points by Nov. 24 to secure the low price of 59 cents per pound.

Free Thanksgiving Turkey and Meals for Families in Need

If you or someone you know can’t afford to spend the money to get a free turkey from the grocery stores above, you can look to your community for help.

  1. Food Banks

Food banks are hard at work hosting turkey drives and fundraising events to help put Thanksgiving meals on the tables of those in need. Food bank turkey distributions are usually held during the weekend before and days leading up to Thanksgiving. You can search by state or ZIP code for your local food bank, as well as food pantries.

  1. United Way

United Way chapters also host turkey drives to help families in need. You can search for your local United Way chapter, or you can use the United Way 211 resource to contact a representative who can possibly help you find free turkeys or meals in your area.

  1. Meals on Wheels

Many Meals on Wheels providers have a program specifically for the holiday season, like this Thanksgiving Meals on Wheels program offered Minneapolis-St.Paul.

These meals consist of turkey, dressing, potatoes, peas, corn, cranberries, rolls, pumpkin pie and milk. They are delivered directly to your home, and available to all families and individuals in need — not just seniors.

You can see what programs are available in your area by contacting your local Meals on Wheels.

  1. Salvation Army

The Salvation Army also gives free Thanksgiving dinners to those in need. Each program is administered locally, so you will want to look up your local chapter.

  1. Churches and Charities

Many local churches and charities usually collect donated food items to provide low-income families in their communities with Thanksgiving meals. Check with your church or local charity if you need help providing your family with a Thanksgiving meal.
