Another Princess Moves Into Meghan and Harry’s Home

Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are moving into Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s home in the United Kingdom.  The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left their home in the United Kingdom in early 2020. While Frogmore Cottage still remains their private residence overseas, a source confirmed to Fox News that Meghan and Harry have graciously extended the property to Eugenie who is expecting her first child.  “Frogmore Cottage continues to be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s residence in the U.K.,” a source said, “and they are delighted to be able to open up their home to Princess Eugenie and Jack as they start their own family.” The Sun was the first to report the arrangement, citing a source who said that “removal vans” were spotted in the middle of the night to empty Harry and Meghan’s home.  The news comes on the heels of Harry and Meghan’s departure from the United Kingdom, where Harry was raised. The married couple announced in January their plans to step back as senior members of the royal family.

Alex Trebek Cremated

Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek was cremated and his ashes will be kept at home with his widow, his death certificate reveals.  He died Nov. 8th after a battle with pancreatic cancer.  According to his death certificate obtained by The Blast, Trebek’s final resting place is listed as his Studio City, Calif., home. The document also confirms the 80-year-old was cremated and his wife, Jean Currivan Trebek, has his ashes.  Trebek’s occupation is listed as “quiz show host” on the document, the outlet reports, and it states he worked in the entertainment industry for 60 years.  Days after his passing, Jean Trebek thanked her late husband’s fans in an Instagram post for their support. It featured a photo from her 1990 wedding to the television personality. In the pic, Trebek appeared to be slipping a ring on his bride’s finger. “My family and I sincerely thank you all for your compassionate messages and generosity,” she said in the caption. “Your expressions have truly touched our hearts. Thank you so very, very much.”  She signed her post by writing, “Many Blessings to all.”

Liam Hemsworth Sells Burned Home

Liam Hemsworth is cutting his losses and moving on, despite losing millions in the bargain.  He has sold his 7.4 acre Malibu estate that he shared with his ex-wife Miley Cyrus for the bargain basement price of $3.6 million — almost half of what he bought it for in 2014.  The cut rate price is due to the Woolsey Fire that ravaged the area and the home in 2018, burning it almost to the ground.  The unidentified buyer bought the two lots the former home stood on, a burned out concrete foundation, “an untouched pool, plus acres of semi-charred rolling hills,” according to Dirt.  Back in 2014, when Hemsworth bought the property for $6.8 million, the site notes the spread included “a long driveway that meandered over a gurgling creek, an updated 1950s ranch-style house, a recording studio, detached writing studio, concrete barn, and a big grassy lawn. The property is nestled deep into the rolling Malibu hills, within a private gated community where other homeowners include Megan Fox, Emmy-winning producers Marcy Carsey and Richard Appel, and helicopter heiress Cindy Robinson.”

Game Show Contestant Dies

A contestant on the TBS reboot of “Wipeout” has died after completing the show’s obstacle course.  A male contestant needed help and was tended to by on-set emergency personnel after tackling the course Wednesday, sources close to production tell The Post. The participant was on the set in Santa Clarita, California — but not on the course itself — when he reportedly experienced chest pains before noon and medics used a defibrillator on him.  Paramedics were called and he was transported to the hospital, where he later died.  Contestants undergo medical exams ahead of filming, and the show, which has yet to air on the network, has on-site paramedics and doctors, as well as a safety producer.  Production was paused Thursday and Friday, and the show was heading into a preplanned week off for the Thanksgiving holiday. Production is scheduled to resume sometime after the break.  No further information was released about the contestant.  “We are devastated to have learned of his passing, and our deepest sympathy goes out to the family,” a TBS spokesperson said in a statement.

Kelly Clarkson’s divorce meant she booted ex Brandon Blackstock out of her professional life-but he’ll still be in her work life thanks to Blake Shelton!  “Brandon might not be Kelly’s manager anymore, but he still manages Blake, which might get awkward when Kelly runs into him backstage at ‘The Voice,’” an insider snitched.  “Brandon will always be in Kelly’s personal life because of their two children.  But after she ended their professional relationship, the thought of him still hanging around while she films ‘The Voice’ isn’t fun.  When ‘The Voice’ live show returns on November 30, Kelly is preparing herself for some awkward moments backstage with Brandon.  She doesn’t wish him any harm and is happy he’s still successful.  But did he have to manage someone who sits on stage with her on ‘The Voice?’”

Struggling Fallon’s “Tonight Show” Fiasco-(Globe)

It’s not so hilarious behind the cameras at “The Tonight Show!”  While Jimmy Fallon, 46, recently extended his lucrative NBC contract to host the struggling late-night talker past 2021, his head writer, Rebecca Drysdale, lasted six months of butting heads with jolly Jim and his cronies before getting dumped.  “They made it clear I was not a good fit for the show, and I did not disagree,” the accomplished comedy scribe posts.  “I wish it had gone differently and I had been able to be what they needed but that is not how it shook out.”  A showbiz commentator snipes:  “Making Jimmy Fallon funny is the hardest job in Hollywood.”  Ouch!

100 Year Old Library Book Returned

Officials at an Ontario library said a book recently dropped into its return bin is believed to be up to 100 years overdue.  The Fergus Library said a copy of Martin Chuzzlewit by Charles Dickens was recently dropped into the book return bin by an anonymous person.  Library officials said they don’t have records of the book, but it bears a Fergus Library name plate inside the cover, indicating it might have been from the facility’s original collection when it opened in the 1900s.  Officials said they aren’t sure of when the book was last checked out.  “We’re guessing from 100 to maybe 50 years ago,” chief librarian Rebecca Hine told CTV News.

America’s Best Restroom

The organizers of the annual America’s Best Restroom contest have flushed out a 2020 winner.  Cintas Corporation named the public restroom in Bancroft Park in Colorado Springs, Colo. as America’s best bathroom for the 19th annual contest.  The high-tech restroom self-cleans after every 30 uses, featuring a touchless automatic toilet paper, soap and water dispensers and hand dryers. An app alerts the park maintenance supervisor whenever supplies are running low.  “We’re very proud to win this award since opening these new restrooms just a few short months ago,” Karen Palus, director of Colorado Springs parks, recreation and cultural services, said in a statement. “The amount of recognition we’ve received is a testament to the value people place in hygienic and memorable public restrooms.”  The bathroom went viral this summer after TikToker Yeti Tears featured it in a video that drew millions of views. He showed how the door opens with the push of a button and “slides like something out of ‘Star Wars.’” At the time, a memo displayed showed that 7,800 people had used the facilities in just two weeks.  “It is state of the art,” he said in the video.  The city spent $301,000 on the high-tech restrooms during a larger renovation of the park, Fox 21 reported.

Man Straps Light Pole To Car Roof

A Florida man who strapped a light pole to the roof of his car on a highway has been arrested on charges of grand theft, authorities said.  Douglas Allen Hatley, 71, was pulled over on a Tampa roadway on Monday after another driver reported that a maroon Toyota Camry was hauling a metal pole – nearly double the length of the car – on its roof, the Florida Highway Patrol said.  He said he found the pole on the ground by the side of the highway and wanted to sell the metal for scrap, according to troopers.  A driver told authorities they had seen Hatley tie the light pole to his car roof a few miles away on Interstate 4 near the Interstate 75 interchange.  Troopers told Hatley that a highway maintenance worker had reported the pole stolen, the Tampa Bay Times reported.  He said he didn’t realize that it was illegal to remove broken utility and light poles from the side of the road.  See the photo HERE.

Grown Your Own Human Meat!

A “DIY meal kit” for growing steaks made from human cells was recently nominated for “design of the year” by the London-based Design Museum.  Named the Ouroboros Steak after the circular symbol of a snake eating itself tail-first, the hypothetical kit would come with everything one needs to use their own cells to grow miniature human meat steaks.  “People think that eating oneself is cannibalism, which technically this is not,” Grace Knight, one of the designers, told Dezeen magazine.  This isn’t a product available to buy. It was created by scientist Andrew Pelling, artist Orkan Telhan and Knight, an industrial designer, on commission by the Philadelphia Museum of Art for an exhibit last year.  “Growing yourself ensures that you and your loved ones always know the origin of your food, how it has been raised and that its cells were acquired ethically and consensually,” a website for the imagined product states.  The project was made as a critique of the lab-grown meat industry, which the designers told Dezeen magazine is not actually as animal-friendly as one might expect. Lab-grown meat relies on fetal bovine serum for animal cell cultures, though some companies have claimed to have found alternatives. FBS is made from calf fetus blood after pregnant cows are slaughtered.

12 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Attending In-Person Thanksgiving

Huffington Post

Are you at high risk of getting severely sick from COVID-19?

People who are at increased risk of severe illness from the coronavirus include older adults and those with underlying medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cancer, chronic kidney disease and more.

Are any other attendees at high risk of severe illness?

“Prior to visiting loved ones, it’s a good idea to have everyone check with a
physician on their risk status for severe disease if they contract COVID-19,” Dr. Linda Anegawa, a physician with virtual health platform PlushCare, told HuffPost. “Individuals who are high risk for complications are safest avoiding family gatherings altogether.”

Will you have to travel to attend the celebration?

Public health experts advise against unnecessary travel during the pandemic — particularly now, as case counts continue to skyrocket.

“Travel may increase your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19,” the CDC website notes. “Postponing travel and staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others this year.”

What means of transit will you use?

If you have to travel for Thanksgiving, are you going by plane, train or bus, all of which make social distancing nearly impossible?

“Traveling by car is probably safer than an airplane, given the exposure to far fewer people,” said Anegawa. “When traveling by car, be sure to have hand sanitizer, paper towels, and sanitizing wipes available (in case you need to make any bathroom pit stops along the way). Supplying your own snacks and drinks can also help to minimize stops in unfamiliar locations.”

If you travel by plane, try to go at off-peak times and days, practice social distancing at the airport and when boarding, wipe down your seat area and always wear your mask. Anegawa suggested a face shield in addition to a mask for extra protection as well.

How many COVID-19 cases are there in your current location?

Consider the coronavirus situation in your community. Are cases high or increasing? You can look up the specifics at the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, which includes a U.S. map tracking COVID-19 cases by county. The CDC also has a COVID-19 data tracker.

What’s the case rate at your destination?

Do the same research for the location of your Thanksgiving destination to see how many cases have been reported and if that number is rising. If cases are high or increasing, that’s all the more reason to avoid going there.

Look up the hospital situation in your current location and potential Thanksgiving destination as well. Many communities are nearing full hospital bed capacity. Consult local public health websites for more information.

Are there restrictions for travelers at your destination?

Most places have implemented restrictions and requirements for incoming travelers amid the pandemic. The CDC’s travel planner tool has information about state and local regulations about quarantines, test requirements and other restrictions. You can also go to the state or county’s public health website and check local news sources.

Travel restrictions also generally apply upon your return from out of state, so it’s best to look up the rules in your own community, as well.

Will the gathering take place inside or outside?

“According to CDC guidance, for those who chose to gather, try having your meal outside and socially distanced from one another,” Anegawa advised. “You can also consider bringing your own food, so it is easy to maintain that distance.”

She also emphasized the importance of wearing masks when not eating or drinking and disinfecting hands and surfaces throughout the gathering to help mitigate the risk of spreading the virus.

How many people outside your household will you be seeing?

Many states and cities have implemented restrictions on gathering sizes, but the main goal right now is to keep contacts with people outside your household to a minimum.

If the plan is to see people you don’t live with on Thanksgiving, make sure everyone present understands the risks involved with gathering.

Is everyone getting tested and quarantining beforehand?

An important way to minimize risk before you gather with others is to quarantine for 14 days before your visit and ensure that you and those in your household don’t have close contact with others.

“It may be a good idea to have friends and family obtain a COVID-19 test prior to a Thanksgiving gathering,” Anegawa said. “Any positive test would mean a 14-day quarantine period away from others, and enjoying the festivities over Zoom instead. However, a negative test can often give a false sense of security, as up to 30% of tests are false negatives.”

Getting a negative COVID-19 test before Thanksgiving is not enough to ensure you won’t spread or contract the virus, so it’s safest to commit to a strict quarantine as well. It’s also important to continue to practice social distancing measures, even if you are negative, for the safety of all those around you.

Will this gathering be good for your mental health?

If you’re under pressure from loved ones to attend a Thanksgiving gathering, consider if relenting would be good for your mental health. Is one meal worth the fear or guilt of contracting the virus or potentially putting others at risk?

For many, this holiday may bring up uncomfortable conversations ― and even fights ― over pandemic safety, as well as longstanding political disagreements or family trauma. Perhaps 2020 is a good opportunity to set some boundaries.

What alternatives to a traditional Thanksgiving gathering are at your disposal?

Lots of people genuinely want to gather with family or friends for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. This is particularly true for those who have felt isolated in the age of social distancing.

“For those who might choose not to do a social gathering this year, there are
other great ways to find connection this holiday,” said Anegawa.

She suggested having a Zoom holiday meal with your loved ones or hosting a virtual watch party for a favorite holiday movie.

“Spend time outdoors if you feel lonely and pent-up. Even a 15-minute walk around the neighborhood can make you feel more connected and help you release stressful emotions,” she suggested. “Or try a new hobby for the holiday. You can learn how to knit on YouTube, bake a treat, or try out a virtual yoga class.”
