Darth Vader Actor Dies

Actor David Prowse has died, his management announced.  He had disclosed in 2014 that he had been diagnosed with dementia.  “It’s with great regret and heart-wrenching sadness for us and million of fans around the world, to announce that our client DAVE PROWSE M.B.E. has passed away at the age of 85. #DaveProwse @starwars #DarthVader #GreenCrossCodeMan #iconic #actor #bodybuilder #MBE,” Bowington Management tweeted Saturday.  The exact cause of his death was not specified.  The British actor, who was 6-foot-6-inches tall, famously played the villain Darth Vader in the Star Wars films of the 1970s and ’80s, but actor James Earl Jones gave the masked character his iconic voice.  Mark Hamill took to Twitter to mourn Prowse’s death.  “So sad to hear David Prowse has passed. He was a kind man & much more than Darth Vader,” Hamill wrote. “Actor-Husband-Father-Member of the Order of the British Empire-3 time British Weightlifting Champion & Safety Icon the Green Cross Code Man. He loved his fans as much as they loved him. #RIP.”  Prowse’s other credits include the films Casino Royale, A Clockwork Orange, Horror of Frankenstein and Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell, as well as the TV shows The Saint, Space 1999 and Doctor Who.

Snoop Dogg Gets Rave Reviews For Boxing Commentary

Snoop Dogg was on hand for Saturday night’s card at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where the featured bout was the Mike Tyson matchup with Roy Jones Jr.  Earlier in the evening, he was watching as YouTube star Jake Paul battled former pro basketball player Nate Robinson.  “Oh, there’s a fake from Jake,” Dogg said at one point as Paul feigned a move on Robinson.  Soon after, Paul knocked Robinson flat to the canvas.  “Oh, my God, Lord have mercy! Oh, Jesus!” Dogg shouted. Then he began singing a spiritual hymn as Robinson staggered to his feet and wobbled around the ring.  “Precious Lord, take my hand. Lead me on, let me stand!” he sang.  “Good night, Irene,” he added, as Robinson fell to the mat a second time.  Later, he appeared to succinctly sum up the battle between Tyson – returning to the ring at age 54 – and Jones, who is 51.  “This s— is like two of my uncles fighting at the barbecue,” Dogg quipped.
********He was the only one more stoned than Tyson!!
*******Tyson amazingly lasted an entire fight without either A) knocking Jones out in the first 45 seconds, or B) getting out-boxed!!!

The Young Rock Appears At Macy’s Parade

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson couldn’t contain his excitement when he shared an image from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday that featured a gigantic blowup balloon of a younger “Rock” donning his signature fanny pack and famous high-top curls.  “This time in my life may represent when I had just $7bucks in my fanny pack, but at least I had enough COOL to tuck my turtleneck in and wear fake silver jewelry because it was all I could afford” Johnson wrote on Instagram, adding, “Never in my wildest dreams… I’ve been a lucky SOB to have done some pretty cool s— in my career, but after seeing my @nbcyoungrock FANNY PACK FLOAT in the #MacysThanksgivingParade, this might take the cake.”  The large floatable was created in promotion for NBC’s upcoming series “Young Rock,” which is inspired by Johnson’s life.  “Young Rock” is slated to premiere on NBC in February.  See the video HERE.

Sean Connery Cause Of Death

James Bond legend Sean Connery died of pneumonia, heart problems and “old age,” according to his death certificate.  He died at 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 31 in his home in the Bahamas, according to the death certificate obtained by TMZ. His occupation was listed as “retired actor.”  The cause of death was listed as “pneumonia, respiratory failure, old age [and] atrial fibrillation” — the latter being an irregular heart rate that can increase the risk of blood clots, strokes and heart failure.  Connery’s wife of 45 years, Micheline Roquebrune, previously said that he also had a long battle with dementia and “went peacefully.”

Saved By The Bell Reboot In Hot Water

Peacock is under fire for mocking Selena Gomez’s lupus diagnosis and kidney transplant in a recent episode of the “Saved By the Bell” reboot.  In the new series, which launched on the streaming service Thursday, Bayside High students argue over Gomez’s health history.  Two teens debate who donated a kidney to the 28-year-old — Pattie Mallette, the mother of her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber or her ex-best friend, Demi Lovato when one student quips, “Does Selena Gomez even have kidneys?”  Gomez went under the knife in 2017 after being diagnosed with lupus. Her friend, actress Francia Raisa, donated her organ to Gomez.  On Saturday the star’s name and “RESPECT SELENA GOMEZ” trended on Twitter, as fans rushed to her defense, with many asking for the episode to be taken down.  One user wrote how the “Saved By the Bell” jokes brought her dad “to tears,” after their grandmother passed away from lupus. “This is something that affects me a lot,” the person wrote.  “Who in their right state of mind would even think that it was OKAY to joke about this!” wrote another Twitter user, posting an interview Gomez and Rasia did with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie after the operation. “Freaking disgusting and disrespectful!!”  More than 3,000 fans had signed a Change.org petition asking for “Saved By the Bell” to be canceled, citing the insensitive Gomez comments.  Peacock issued a mea culpa and said it will be donating to the mogul’s Rare Beauty foundation.
*********All you can say is, “WTF???” Who thought THAT was a good line???

Mike Tyson Fight Ends In A Draw

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. battled to a draw in an exhibition fight Saturday night in Los Angeles but put on an entertaining show that drew many eyeballs and had people clamoring for the “Iron Mike” days.  They went the full eight rounds at the Staples Center in a fight that wouldn’t be charged to their official records.  Jones didn’t agree with the outcome.  Tyson compiled a 50-6 record during his career. But he hasn’t fought since June 2005 when he lost to Kevin McBride via a corner stoppage. Tyson said after the fight that he didn’t have “the guts to be in this sport anymore.” His last win came against Clifford Etienne in February 2003.  Jones finished his boxing career 66-9 with 47 knockouts. His last fight was February 2018 against Scott Sigmon in which he won via unanimous decision. The fight was a part of Tyson’s Legends Only League, which aims to offer past star athletes a way to play once again.
*******Tyson does much better when he’s stoned!!
******They started to test him for drugs, then they said, “Why bother??”

Blake Blocks Kelly From Chucking Ex-(National Enquirer)

Kelly Clarkson’s divorce meant she booted ex Brandon Blackstock out of her professional life-but he’ll still be in her work life thanks to Blake Shelton!  “Brandon might not be Kelly’s manager anymore, but he still manages Blake, which might get awkward when Kelly runs into him backstage at ‘The Voice,’” an insider snitched.  “Brandon will always be in Kelly’s personal life because of their two children.  But after she ended their professional relationship, the thought of him still hanging around while she films ‘The Voice’ isn’t fun.  When ‘The Voice’ live show returns on November 30, Kelly is preparing herself for some awkward moments backstage with Brandon.  She doesn’t wish him any harm and is happy he’s still successful.  But did he have to manage someone who sits on stage with her on ‘The Voice?’”

Struggling Fallon’s “Tonight Show” Fiasco-(Globe)

It’s not so hilarious behind the cameras at “The Tonight Show!”  While Jimmy Fallon, 46, recently extended his lucrative NBC contract to host the struggling late-night talker past 2021, his head writer, Rebecca Drysdale, lasted six months of butting heads with j0olly Jim and his cronies before getting dumped.  “They made it clear I was not a good fit for the show, and I did not disagree,” the accomplished comedy scribe posts.  “I wish it had gone differently and I had been able to be what they needed but that is not how it shook out.”  A showbiz commentator snipes:  “Making Jimmy Fallon funny is the hardest job in Hollywood.”  Ouch!

Johnny Gets $10 Million-After Being Fired!

Florida Man Thaws Turkey In The Swimming Pool

A Florida man posted a video showing off his family’s most unusual pre-Thanksgiving tradition: thawing out the turkey in their backyard swimming pool.  Mark O’Donnell posted a Facebook Live video showing his family dumping the 16-pound turkey into the swimming pool behind their Clearwater home to thaw out for cooking.  O’Donnell said the turkey’s packaging was closely examined for leaks before the thawing process to make sure none of the chlorinated water seeped into the meat. He said the turkey will be removed after spending a day thawing in pool.  He said his family has been thawing the Thanksgiving turkey in the pool for 18 years.  See the video HERE.

Deer Steals Hunter’s Rifle

A hunter in the Czech Republic was charged by a deer that snagged the man’s gun on its antlers and fled into the woods with the weapon, police said.  Police in the South Bohemian Region said a hunter contacted authorities to recount the story of how he lost his gun while hunting near the village of Horni Plana.  The man said one of the hunting dogs in his group startled a stag in a wooded area, causing the panicked deer to run directly toward him.  The deer’s antlers ripped the man’s sleeve and ended up snagged on his .22 Hornet rifle, which had been slung over his left hand at the time.  The animal ran off into the woods with the hunter’s unloaded gun still attached to its antlers, the man told police.  Police said another hunter reported spotting a deer with a rifle dangling from its antlers more than half a mile from the scene.

Squirrel Drunk On Pears!

A Minnesota woman who has been feeding the squirrels outside her home shared video of one of the animals acting drunk after eating an apparently fermented pear.  Katy Morlok of Inver Grove Heights said she recently started to feed the squirrels that gather in her yard so she can watch them through the window while she’s working from home.  Morlok said she cleaned out her refrigerator recently and decided to give an old pear she found to the squirrels after an Internet search confirmed the fruit was a safe food for the animals.  The woman said she saw a squirrel she nicknamed “Lil Red” take the pear and run up a tree.  She said the squirrel reappeared about an hour later and was noticeably off balance. She captured video of the animal repeatedly appearing to almost fall over.  “And then it kind of dawned on me … oh no, those pears were so old I bet they fermented,” Morlok told KMSP-TV. “And then he got drunk and I did not mean to do that so I went out and I grabbed all the pears.”  See the video HERE.

Utah Monolith Disappears

The monolith, a 12-foot tall vertical, metal prism, has disappeared from the red rocks of the southeastern Utah desert late Friday evening, according to Bureau of Land Management spokesperson Kimberly Finch. In its place remains a pile of rocks and a smaller pyramid made from, what appears to be, the same material. On Nov. 18 Utah Department of Public Safety officers were counting Big Horn Sheep in the area on a helicopter when they were distracted by the large, shiny object. After taking video of officials investigating the structure, and risking being transported into another dimension, a social media frenzy began. Even Stephen Colbert made a lovely Utah tourism video under the monolith’s command.  Officials never publicly disclosed the monolith’s location out of concern that inexperienced hikers and alien enthusiasts would travel to the remote area of the desert and get lost or injured. This is why many initially pointed fingers at the BLM for removing the monolith.  Finch said because the structure is on public lands it is considered private property, meaning the BLM does not have the authorization to remove it. She said it is unknown who removed it and is being investigated by the sheriff’s office in San Juan County. Utah helicopter pilot Ryan Bacher was among the last to see the monolith Friday afternoon with about a dozen others “looking at this fun piece of art.”

9 Financial Things to Do Before the End of 2020

The Penny Hoarder

  1. Spend the Money in Your FSA: Don’t Let it Go to Waste

If you have a Flexible Spending Account through your employer as part of your health insurance plan, remember this key fact: The biggest drawback with an FSA is that you lose whatever money you don’t use up by the end of the year.

You can pull money from your FSA to cover the cost of prescriptions, office visit copays, over-the-counter medical supplies, eyeglasses or contact lenses. Your account typically comes with a debit card you can use to pay for medical expenses whenever they come up.

Tick tock! Use it or lose it!

  1. Contribute to Your HSA: Don’t Miss Out on Tax Deductions

If you don’t have an FSA, maybe you have an HSA, instead. That’s a Health Savings Account, and it’s also used to cover out-of-pocket medical expenses.

The goal of an HSA is to help people offset the cost of high-deductible healthcare plans. They help make healthcare affordable for families who struggle under the burden of insurance premiums and deductibles that can run into the thousands of dollars.  An HSA has less of an urgent deadline because, unlike an FSA, whatever money you don’t use up this year rolls over into next year.  However, keep in mind that any money you put into your HSA before the end of the year is tax-deductible, which could help lower your 2020 income tax bill. You can contribute up to $3,400 per person or $6,750 per family to your account.

  1. Start Investing This Year: Spend $1 to Own a Piece of Amazon, Google or Other Companies

The best time to start investing is now, not later. Don’t wait another year! Sure, the stock market can be volatile, but over time the value of your investments will go up.

You can start small, if you want. In fact, you can get started with as little as $1* with an app called Stash, which lets you be a part of something that’s normally exclusive to the richest of the rich — buying pieces of other companies for as little as $1.*

That’s right — you can invest in pieces of well-known companies, such as Amazon, Google or Apple, for as little as $1. The best part? When these companies profit, so can you. Some companies even send you a check every quarter for your share of the profits, called dividends.  It takes two minutes to sign up, plus Stash will give you a $5 sign-up bonus once you deposit $5 into your account. Subscription plans start at $1 a month.**

  1. Check Your Credit Score: Add up to 300 Points

When it comes to your credit score, it’s important to stay organized and keep tabs on it. After all, it’ll play an essential role in any big purchase you want to make — whether that’s a home or a car.

So if you’re looking to get your credit score back on track — or even if it is on track and you want to bump it up — try using a free website called Credit Sesame.  Within two minutes, you’ll get access to your credit score, any debt-carrying accounts and a handful of personalized tips to improve your score. You’ll even be able to spot any errors holding you back (one in five reports have one).  James Cooper, of Atlanta, used Credit Sesame to raise his credit score nearly 300 points in six months.*** “They showed me the ins and outs — how to dot the I’s and cross the T’s,” he said.

Want to check for yourself? It’s free and only takes about 90 seconds to sign up.

  1. Cancel Your Car Insurance: You Could Save $826/Year

To free up extra room in your budget for 2021, start by cutting back on your monthly bills — like your current car insurance.  In most places, it’s straight up illegal not to have it, so you’ve probably accepted that you’re going to pay through the nose for it. But you don’t have to.  A free website called Savvy will help you find the best rates — in just 30 seconds. In fact, it saves people an average of $826 a year.

All you have to do is connect your current insurance, then Savvy will search hundreds of insurers for a better price on the same coverage. It’ll even help you cancel your old policy and get you a refund from your current insurer. Best yet: This is totally free.  If you find a better deal, you can switch right away and don’t have to wait for your next renewal or even your next payment.

  1. Take this One Step to Protect Your Family: Leave Them up to $1M

Have you thought about how your family would manage without your income after you’re gone? How they’ll pay the bills? Send the kids through school? Now’s a good time to start planning for the future by looking into a term life insurance policy.  You’re probably thinking: I don’t have the time or money for that. But your application can take minutes — and you could leave your family up to $1 million with a company called Bestow.

Rates start at just $8 a month. The peace of mind knowing your family is taken care of is priceless.  If you’re under the age of 54 and want to get a fast life insurance quote without a medical exam or even getting up from the couch, get a free quote from Bestow.

  1. Ask This Website Pay Your Credit Card Bills This Month

You don’t want to drag your credit card debt into 2021 with you like some kind of giant financial anvil strapped to your ankle.

Your credit card company is just getting rich by ripping you off with high interest rates, but a website called AmOne wants to help. If you owe your credit card companies $50,000 or less, it’ll match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every single one of your balances.  The benefit? You’ll be left with one bill to pay each month. And because personal loans have lower interest rates (AmOne rates start at 3.49% APR), you’ll get out of debt that much faster. Plus: No credit card payment this month.  AmOne won’t make you stand in line or call your bank, either. And if you’re worried you won’t qualify, it’s free to check online. It takes just two minutes, and it could help you pay off your debt years faster.

  1. Contribute to Your IRA

Would you like to retire someday? Sure you would!  If you have an individual retirement account (IRA) as part of your retirement savings portfolio, you’ll want to contribute as much as you’re able to it this year.

The maximum contribution for 2020 is $6,000, or $7,000 for those over age 50, and it’s fully tax deductible.

  1. Cancel One of Your Streaming Services

Quarantine has many of us subscribing to multiple streaming services. But you don’t need to carry them all into 2021.  If you’re subscribing to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus, Hulu and HBO, maybe it’s time to take an inventory of which subscriptions you’re actually using. Maybe it’s time to jettison at least one of them.

And if you still have cable, maybe it’s time to finally cut the cord and save yourself some money by going with a streaming service instead — just not too many of them.
