Ryan Reynolds Taking A Break
Actor Ryan Reynolds announced on social media this weekend that he plans to take a break now that he has finished filming the holiday-themed movie musical, Spirited, for Apple TV+. “That’s a wrap for me on Spirited. Not sure I’d have been ready to say yes to a film this challenging even three years ago,” Reynolds wrote in a post Saturday. “Singing, dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a whole lotta dreams come true. And this is my second film with the great Octavia Spencer…Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making. I’m gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists. These days, kindness matters as much as talent. I’ve been lucky to work with folks who are flush with both.” He has been married to actress Blake Lively since 2012 and they have three children.

Sean Penn and Australian actress Leila George are divorcing after one year of marriage, according to court documents filed in Los Angeles. TMZ and People.com reported George made the move to officially end the union Friday. Penn, 61, began dating George, the 29-year-old daughter of Vincent D’Onofrio, in 2016. They exchanged wedding vows during a small ceremony at their home during the coronavirus pandemic. Before that, Penn was married to actress Robin Wright 1996 to 2010 and pop music star Madonna 1985 to 1989.

Katey Sagal Hit By Car
Katey Sagal is recovering from injuries she sustained when she was hit by a car while walking in Los Angeles. She was at a crosswalk Friday morning when she was hit by a Tesla making a left turn. The driver stopped to help her until she was transported to a hospital by ambulance. “She is going to be fine, and able to go home today,” a source told People.com Friday. Her representative also told Deadline she is expected to make a full recovery. The nature of her injuries have not been disclosed. No citations and or arrests were made, and no drugs or alcohol are believed to have been involved. Kurt Sutter, Sagal’s husband and Sons of Anarchy collaborator, joked about the incident on Twitter Friday. “She’s the only one bringing in money right now… so I’ll be picking her up from the hospital later, taking her to that Dancing With the Stars audition. #fingerscrossed @ Montana Avenue – Santa Monica, CA,” Sutter tweeted. In another post, he wrote: “Must have been a slow news day at TMZ. Police told us it was [TMZ founder] Harvey Levin driving the Tesla.”

William Shatner and George Takei Exchange Insults
William Shatner had a response to his “Star Trek co-star George Takei, who mocked his body shape amid his historic flight to space, Taking to Twitter on Friday night, Shatner accused Takei of only becoming relevant when he name-checks him. “Don’t hate George. The only time he gets press is when he talks bad about me,” Shatner’s tweet reads. It continues: “He claims 50+ years ago I took away a camera angle that denied him 30 more seconds of prime time TV. I’m giving it back to him now by letting him spew his hatred for the world to see! Bill the [pig emoji].” The latest development took place this week when Takei mocked Shatner’s fitness amid his flight on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin. “He’s boldly going where other people have gone before,” Takei said to Page Six when asked about Shatner making history as the oldest person to ever go to space. “He’s a guinea pig, 90 years old and it’s important to find out what happens,” Takei added while at the opening of “Thoughts of a Colored Man” on Wednesday night. “So 90 years old is going to show a great deal more on the wear and tear on the human body, so he’ll be a good specimen to study. Although he’s not the fittest specimen of 90 years old, so he’ll be a specimen that’s unfit!” The actors have famously feuded for years in the public arena. Takei has accused Shatner of ignoring him on set as well as changing up the script for “Star Trek V” so that Takei’s character would not receive command of a spaceship. Tom Cruise was spotted for the first time since photos of him at a baseball game sparked speculation he had undergone cosmetic surgery. He touched down in Los Angeles on Wednesday after piloting his own plane. He then left the tarmac on a red motorcycle while wearing a leather jacket. He was seen exiting the plane with a smile as he sported an unusually yet less noticeably puffy profile. He was dressed in a black sweater and donned a black baseball cap, perhaps to shield onlookers from catching a glimpse of his fluffed-up features. Last weekend, Cruise looked unrecognizable while attending a game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants. He was joined by his 26-year-old son, Connor, whom he shares with ex-wife Nicole Kidman. Pics of the star went viral, with some surmising that he had undergone plastic surgery.

Mick Jagger Hits Back At Paul McCartney
Mick Jagger has fired back at Paul McCartney’s recent belittling comments about The Rolling Stones. He recently slammed the Stones as a “blues cover band” in an interview with The New Yorker. The Stones played at the LA’s SoFi Stadium on Thursday, where he called out the plethora of celebrities that were at his concert, including A-listers like Megan Fox, Lady Gaga and Leonardo DiCaprio. Then Jagger added, “Paul McCartney is here. He’s gonna join us in the blues cover band.” In his New Yorker interview, McCartney also added, “I think our net was cast a bit wider than [the Stones.’” Thursday’s concert also wasn’t the first time Jagger has responded to McCartney’s words. On Zane Lowe’s Apple Music show, Jagger congenially called McCartney a “sweetheart” and said that “there’s obviously no competition” between the two music groups. “The big difference, though, is, and sort of slightly seriously, is that the Rolling Stones is a big concert band in other decades and other areas when the Beatles never even did an arena tour, or Madison Square Garden with a decent sound system,” Jagger explained. “They broke up before that business started, the touring business for real. “They broke up before the touring business started for real … They [The Beatles] did that [Shea] stadium gig [in 1965]. But the Stones went on,” he continued. “We started stadium gigs in the 1970s and are still doing them now.”

Testicle Bath Anyone?
A German inventor’s unique ultrasound “testicle bath” birth control device for men took the top prize at the country’s James Dyson Awards. Rebecca Weiss, an industrial design graduate from the University of Munich and inventor of the COSO male birth control device, was named Germany’s winner of the James Dyson Award, which “celebrates, encourages and inspires the designers of new problem-solving ideas.” The COSO uses an ultrasound “testicle bath” to temporary stop sperm mobility. The device only needs to be used every few months to keep the sperm inert and prevent eggs from being fertilized during sex. Weiss said the inspiration for the device came after she was diagnosed with precursor cervical cancer, which has been tied to oral contraceptive pills. “When my partner and I were looking for an alternative method, we became aware of the lack of male contraceptives,” Weiss told Dyson Award officials. “This problem is not unique to me personally. It affects many others as well as is made evident in the current growing public discussion about the lack of contraceptive alternatives.” The inventor said she is hoping the Dyson Award will help her obtain funding to put the COSO through clinical trials.

Couple Floats Dream Home To New Location
A Newfoundland, Canada, couple faced with the problem of moving their dream home from its former location to their property ended up taking the direct route — through more than half a mile of water. Daniele Penney said she and her boyfriend, Kirk Lovell, discovered the house that Penney had long admired on the shore of the Bay of Islands inlet was going to be torn down, so they received permission from the property owners to move the structure to their own coastal property in McIvers. The couple determined moving the house by land would be too difficult, as there were too many obstacles in the way, so they hatched a plan to float the house a little over half a mile through the Bay of Islands to its new location. Barrels were installed under the house and it was tied to a metal frame loaded with old tires to keep it upright in the water. Aerial footage of the move show the house being pushed through the inlet by a series of small boats. Penney said one corner of the house dipped into the water up to a second-story window at one point during transport, and the engine of Lovell’s boat died, but members of the community used their own boats to rush to the assistance of the movers and ensure the house made it to its new location. Florida Man Is A Hero Once Again
A Florida man who went viral for using a trash can to catch an alligator shared video of his latest animal encounter when a large snake invaded his home. Eugene Bozzi, who uses the alias Abdul Gene Malik online, posted a video to Instagram showing him carrying a long snake at arm’s length outside his Mount Dora home. Bozzi said the snake had found its way inside his home, and he returned it to its habitat outside. Bozzi previously made headlines when a video went viral showing him using a trash can to catch an alligator wandering through his neighborhood. See the video HERE.

Farmer Finds 5 Legged Lamb
An Australian wool farmer said a lamb from his family’s flock will now become a family pet because of an unusual feature: an extra leg growing out of its head. Sam Kuerschner, of Orroroo, South Australia, said he was taking a break from shearing about three weeks ago when his father noticed something unusual about one of the lambs in the pen. “He had a bit of a second glance and said, ‘That sheep’s got five legs’. We all sort of stood up and had a bit of a look and sure enough it did,” Kuerschner told the Australian Broadcasting Corp. He said the extra leg was made all the more unusual by the fact that it’s coming out of the back of the animal’s head. “It’s a fully formed leg. There’s bone and joints and it’s even got a sort of hoof on the end of it, and seems to be attached to the sheep just through skin or flesh, rather than a bone joint,” he said. See the video HERE.

- Pack Snacks
Bring snacks from home so you don’t have to buy overpriced airport fare or get stuck paying convenience store prices for munchies on a road trip. Trail mix, granola, crackers and apples are all good for traveling.
- Bring a Water Bottle
No one wants to pay $5 for a 16 oz. bottle of water. But tourist spots capitalize on you not having other options to quench your thirst. Take an empty water bottle with you and fill it up at a water fountain, a fast-food joint or straight from the tap. You may even come across filtered water fill-up stations. A reusable filtered water bottle is a good investment if you don’t have access to filtered water.
- Go Grocery Shopping
If you’re staying somewhere that has access to a kitchen, go grocery shopping and cook instead of eating out for every meal. Or if you’re driving to your destination, bring non-perishable groceries from home or pack up a cooler with ice for things that have to stay cold.
Even if you don’t have a full kitchen, there’s a lot you can do with a mini fridge and microwave. Cereal, oatmeal, muffins, fruit and yogurt make for easy breakfast options. You can whip up sandwiches for lunch for a fraction of the cost of having one made at a deli. While you’re grocery shopping, don’t forget to stock up on snacks.
- Choose Lunch Over Dinner
If you’re dying to sample the food at a high-profile restaurant, go for lunch when the prices are often cheaper. Once you’ve had your nice meal of the day, choose a cheaper option for dinner, such as a quick-service restaurant or sandwiches at your hotel room.
- Find Discounts
Sites like Groupon and LivingSocial offer deals on dining — in addition to discounts on entertainment, shopping and more. Travel brochures or restaurant guides in your hotel lobby or visitors center may include coupons for eating out, too. You can buy discounted restaurant gift cards on sites like Restaurant.com or Raise.com.
- Order Appetizers as a Meal
Appetizers generally cost less than a full meal but can be just as filling. Check the menu prices. You may find you can order a side dish or house salad along with your appetizer and still spend less than you would on an entree.
- Order Water
When dining out, choose water instead of soda, alcohol or other pricy drinks to cut the cost of your dining bill. While planning your trip, check out the restaurants, bars and other eateries near where you’ll stay and the places you’ll visit. Look at menu prices to see if the offerings fall within your budget. Sites like Yelp can help you filter out spots that are too expensive and steer you to the best spots in unfamiliar cities.
- Embrace Free Food and Drinks
Enjoy the free cookies, coffee and continental breakfast at your hotel. Drink all the free samples on winery or brewery tours. If old friends or relatives live near your travel destination, take them up on their offer to come over for dinner. Free food is the best for budget travelers.
