Cobra Kai Gets New Season Release

Season 3 of the Karate Kid sequel series Cobra Kai is set to premiere on Netflix on Jan. 8^th.  It was also announced Friday that the Ralph Macchio-William Zabka show has been renewed for a fourth a season.  “HERE-WE-GO! Season 3 premieres January 8, 2021 only on Netflix!! And Season 4 is officially coming!!” Macchio tweeted.  They reprise their iconic roles of Daniel and Johnny in the series about former California high-school martial-arts rivals who clash again as adults in their 50s. The men are now the fathers of teens and the owners of dojos, with completely different parenting and teaching styles.  The Karate Kid was released in 1984.  In July 2019, it was announced that Season 3 of Cobra Kai would take place in Okinawa, Japan, echoing the setting of 1986’s The Karate Kid II, which also starred Macchio as Daniel.  See the Teaser HERE.

Rick Moranis Assaulted In NYC

Ghostbusters, Spaceballs and Parenthood star Rick Moranis is thanking fans for their support after he was assaulted in Manhattan this week.  “Rick Moranis was assaulted on the Upper West Side yesterday. He is fine but grateful for everyone’s thoughts and well wishes,” his publicist said in a statement to ET Canada on Friday.  Video cameras captured the Thursday-morning incident, showing a man walking toward Moranis, punching the 67-year-old, Canadian-born actor in the head and knocking him to the ground, CNN reported.  “[Moranis] is doing well. He is strong. He is recovering,” New York Police Detective Kaz Daughtry told reporters Friday, according to the New York Post. “He just wants us to catch the bad guy and all this to go away.”  Moranis suffered pain in his head, back, hip, leg and left side, police said. He stepped out of the spotlight more than two decades ago to care for his sons after his wife died of cancer.

Harvey Weinstein Gets More Assault Charges

Harvey Weinstein faces six new charges of sexual assault related to multiple incidents more than a decade ago in Los Angeles, prosecutors announced Friday.  Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey amended an existing criminal complaint against Weinstein to add three counts each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation — all felonies.  The existing criminal complaint accused him a single count each of forcible rape, forcible copulation and one count of sexual penetration by use of force, and two counts of sexual battery by restraint. All told there are five alleged victims from 2004-13.  “I am thankful to the first women who reported these crimes and whose courage have given strength to others to come forward,” Lacey said. “The willingness of these latest victims to testify against a powerful man gives us the additional evidence we need to build a compelling criminal case.”  If convicted on all counts in the Los Angeles case, Weinstein faces up to 140 years in prison. He’s currently serving 23 years prison in New York after being convicted of a criminal sexual act and third-degree rape.

James Bond Pushed Back Again

The release of the James Bond film “No Time to Die” has once again been delayed.  The new release window is now said to be 2021 due to the increasing toll the coronavirus pandemic has had on the theatrical business.  It was originally supposed to open in April 2020 but was pushed back to Nov. 12 in the U.K. and Nov. 20 in the U.S.  It was one of the first Hollywood films to abandon its release before cinemas in the U.S. shut down in mid-March because of the novel virus.  “MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, today announced the release of NO TIME TO DIE, the 25th film in the James Bond series, will be delayed until 2 April 2021 in order to be seen by a worldwide theatrical audience,” the franchise’s Twitter account announced on Friday.  “We understand the delay will be disappointing to our fans but we now look forward to sharing NO TIME TO DIE next year,” they wrote in a follow-up tweet.

Prince Philip Upset With Meghan Markle

Prince Philip is “very, very disappointed” by Meghan Markle’s failure to “support the monarchy” as a member of the British royal family.  According to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, Philip gave up his naval career to support Queen Elizabeth II when she ascended the throne in 1952 and was allegedly “irritated” when Meghan didn’t do the same with her career for his grandson Prince Harry.  Seward, the editor in chief of Majesty magazine, has been covering the royals since the ‘80s and has written over 20 books on the subject. On Oct. 20, Seward is releasing a new book on the duke titled “Prince Philip Revealed.”  “I think he’s very, very disappointed because I think he feels he gave up his naval career in order to stand by the Queen and help the monarchy,” Seward explained to Sky News on Wednesday, as reported by U.K.’s DailyMail. “And why can’t Meghan just give up her acting career, support her husband and support the monarchy? As he used to say to [Princess] Diana, this is not a popularity contest, this is all of us working together.”  “He just cannot understand why she couldn’t support Harry and help him rather than wanting to have her voice,” Seward added.  Seward alleged that Philip didn’t want to be a part of the talks about the Sussexes’ future outside of the monarchy, which famously occurred at Sandringham in January.

Carole Baskin Fine With Don Lewis Commercials

“Tiger King” star Carole Baskin supports ex-husband Don Lewis’ family purchasing airtime demanding answers about his disappearance — although she ultimately thinks it’s a lost cause.  Baskin told Tamron Hall on Friday: “If anything could lead us to any kind of conclusion on what happened to Don, then that would be fabulous because my name would be cleared. But I really think that he just crashed a private plane over the Gulf, and I don’t think that offering a reward is going to help prove that.”  Lewis’ family bought the spot during Baskin’s debut on “Dancing With the Stars” last month. Baskin’s “Tiger King” nemesis Joe Exotic has accused her of feeding Lewis to tigers at her Big Cat Rescue when her then-husband disappeared 23 years ago.  Baskin has denied any involvement in his disappearance multiple times and told Hall, “Until we can find out what happened, I have no way to [clear my name], so the only thing I can do is stay focused on what my mission is . . . to end the captivity of big cats and to protect them in the wild.”  See the interview HERE.

Meghan and Harry Staying Home For Christmas

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be staying at home in California instead of flying across the pond to visit the rest of the royal family for Christmas, Vanity Fair reported.  Every December, Queen Elizabeth brings her family together to toast the holidays at her Sandringham Estate, the site of the infamous Megxit summit. They missed the party last year, too, opting to bundle up in Canada with Meghan’s mom, Doria, and son Archie.  Officially, they are cancelling the trip because of all the havoc the coronavirus pandemic has played with transatlantic travel. And they’ve told friends they’re just “not ready” to pack their days — even for a short stay — because they’re so happy in their swanky new digs in Santa Barbara.  “At this stage they are really enjoying their new life in California and their new home,” a source told Vanity Fair.

Woman Still Gets Lottery Winning After It’s Lost In Mail

A Florida woman who was initially denied a $1,000 lottery prize when her ticket was believed to be lost in the mail was finally awarded her winnings by lottery officials.  Sue Burgess of Ridge Manor, Hernando County, won a Second Chance drawing with what was initially a losing ticket July 29, and due to COVID-19 restrictions she was instructed to mail her ticket to Florida Lottery headquarters.  Burgess sent the ticket via certified mail so she could track its trip to Tallahassee, but the tracking system said the ticket was in transit — and it remained that way for weeks.  “I was horrified to find out that the lottery commission had never received my ticket,” Burgess told the New York Post. “After I had to pick myself up off the floor, I learned the ticket was still in transit.”  Lottery officials told her that the prize was being forfeited and given to a second-place winner because the ticket did not arrive at the office with a postmark proving it was mailed within seven days of her being notified that she had won.  Burgess turned to WFLA-TV for help, and lottery officials conducted an additional investigation and discovered the ticket was indeed in their possession. A lottery official told the TV station they did not know why the ticket’s postal tracking information was incorrect or why it took so long to find the ticket.

A resident of Hell, Mich., is offering the chance to be “Mayor of Hell” for one day by renting out a specially outfitted “lair” on Airbnb.  John Colone, the self-proclaimed “mayor” of the town, which has no official mayor, said his “Mayor’s Lair” tiny house will be available for three one-night stays that come with his unofficial title for 24 hours.  “I am the biggest Halloween fan in the world (and the underworld), so I hope that our little slice of paradise can fill fellow Halloween lovers with all of the frightful chills and spooky sensations of the season,” Colone told Airbnb.  “And to our guests and soon-to-be Mayors, I trust you’ll find that there is no place more welcoming than Hell on Earth-we can’t wait to show you a helluva good time!”  The “Mayor’s Lair” includes a queen-sized bed, gothic-style sitting area, fire pit, outdoor movie screen and supply of locally grown pumpkins to carve.

103 Skydiver

A 103-year-old man became the Guinness World Record holder for the oldest tandem skydiver when he jumped out of a plane in Texas.  Alfred “Al” Blaschke, who went skydiving for the first time in 2017 to celebrate his 100th birthday, made good on a promise to return to the skies three years later to celebrate his twin grandsons graduating from college.  Blaschke jumped out of the plane at 14,000 feet while strapped to Don Cameron, a certified tandem jump instructor at Skydive Spaceland San Marcos.  He landed safely on the ground about 5 minutes later.  “Everything went perfect,” Blaschke said. “Skydiving is a very safe sport these days. Statistically, it’s more dangerous to get snacks out of a vending machine.”
*******That’s right!! Because a vending machine can make you hit the ground at 200 miles per hour!!
*******If you’re gonna start risking your life, your 100th birthday seems like a good time to start!!

Old Books Returned

A British library said someone returned a pair of books — including an early Thomas the Tank Engine book — 48 years after their original due date.  The Basingstoke Discovery Center in Hampshire, England, said the books were mailed to the library along with an apologetic note from a person who checked them out nearly 50 years ago.  The books were The Railway Series No 22: Small Railway Engines, a classic Thomas the Tank Engine book by Rev W Awdry, and Learning With Colour Architecture: The Great Art of Building by Trewin Copplestone.  “We inadvertently took these with us when we moved from Basingstoke in 1972. Please accept my apologies for the late return of these items,” read the note, which was signed “Andy.”  The library said the late fees for the books would total over $10,800 by the current rates, but the facility put a moratorium on late fees in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  “Fortunately we are just happy to see them again,” the library said.
********We still have a tape from Blockbuster that we rented in 1989!! Thank God they went out of business!!
