New Stanger Things Teaser Released

Netflix released the first teaser for its upcoming fourth season of Stranger Things on Saturday.  The 90-second preview shows well-dressed parents, their son and daughter happily moving into a beautifully decorated mansion in the 1960s.  A few moments later, a dead bunny is spotted on the lawn, the lights start blinking in the house and the dad is facing the front door with his back to his two children who are lying on the floor.  The scene switches to show a brick thrown through the window on that same front door and a backpack with a Ghostbusters pin on it, dropped on the dusty floor, indicating someone is breaking into the abandoned house many years later.  The boys then walk through the house with flashlights, looking for clues and making Sherlock Holmes references.  The video ends with a grandfather clock ominously striking 12, the glass cracking on its face and the word “2022” flashing on the screen. See it HERE.
*****How can ANYTHING be “stranger” than the last 18 months???
*****Wait a minute… maybe we shouldn’t ask that question!!!

Michael K. Williams Cause Of Death

The Wire actor Michael K. Williams died of an overdose of fentanyl, heroin and cocaine, the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office announced Friday.  A representative for the department said his death appeared to be accidental in nature. It’s unclear if he took the drugs together or separately, or whether he was aware he consumed all three.  He was found dead at the age of 54 in his Brooklyn apartment Sept. 6. He was open about his history of drug use, and law enforcement officials said they found drug paraphernalia on a table inside his home.
*****If all those drugs were legal, would be still be dead?? (yes)

Harry and Meghan Caught Taping Their NYC Trip

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been secretly taping their NYC visit for a rumored Netflix documentary about their lives.  They brought their own videographer with them on their whirlwind trip this week, and he was seen accompanying them around the city. He ran ahead of them as they stepped out before a tour of the 9/11 Memorial Thursday morning.  They also brought their own photographer, Matt Sayles, to document them.  Harry appeared to be sporting a mic during his visit with his wife to iconic Harlem soul food eatery Melba Friday. He had a wire around his neck, which was then seen tucked into the pocket of his chinos as he hugged restaurant owner Melba Wilson.  Despite the hot Big Apple weather, Markle brought a wardrobe of heavy winter coats and jackets for all of their engagements — thick enough to hide any mic.  Sources who know them say they have also been collecting footage for the archives of their Archewell foundation.
**********That’s it!!! They win the award for “Most Narcissistic ‘Celebrities’ of the Century!!!”
******You know they’re tripping when they say, “It must be a thrill for you to meet us!!!”

Nick Cannon Told To Be Celibate

Nick Cannon is cancelling baby making after welcoming four children in under one year.  “My therapist said I should be celibate,” he told Entertainment Tonight in an interview on Friday. “Okay, give me a break bus. I’m [gonna] take a break from having kids.”  Cannon welcomed three children in June alone — son Zen and twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir — with model Alyssa Scott and Abby De La Rosa, respectively.  Six months prior, Cannon’s ex, Brittany Bell, gave birth to their daughter, Powerful Queen. The two also share a 4-year-old son named Golden.  “I come from a big family, I have several siblings,” Cannon also told ET, adding, “[and] being raised in an unorthodox family by my grandparents at times, I’ve experienced such a wide range of upbringing that I have such a love and passion for kids and family. I want a big family too.”

William Shatner Heading To Space

90-Year-old William Shatner will be going to space aboard Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ New Shepard rocket.  Shatner would be the oldest person ever to travel to space with this historic ride, TMZ reported.  His 15-minute flight will occur sometime in October. The outlet also reported that the mission will be filmed for an upcoming documentary featuring the actor who played Capt. James T. Kirk on the iconic series.  Bezos first went up to space in July alongside his brother, Mark Bezos; pioneering pilot Wally Funk, who at 82 is the oldest space visitor to date; and rich Dutch student Oliver Daemen, then 18 and the youngest person to go to space.  They reached heights of 66.5 miles above Earth on New Shepard and spent about 10 minutes off the ground.

******He’s only trying to impress the Queen!!! He’s angling for a date!!

Nicolas Cage Mistaken For Homeless Man In Vegas

Nicolas Cage has been filmed getting thrown out of an upscale Las Vegas bar — where he was “completely drunk and being rowdy” and mistaken for a “homeless man,” eyewitnesses said. The actor — who won an Oscar for his portrayal of an alcoholic in “Leaving Las Vegas” — was kicked out of Lawry’s Prime Rib on Monday last week after arguing with a staff member, according to footage shared with the Sun.  “Nicolas Cage here is a little f–ked up,” one man could be heard on the video as the unshaven star sat on a coach wearing leopard-print pants, a black T-shirt and nothing on his bare feet.  An eyewitness told the Sun that they first thought he was “a homeless man completely drunk and being rowdy.”  In the footage, Cage slurs as he asks for his “shoes” — just to be given some flip-flops that he appears to struggle to slide his feet into.  See the video HERE.
********If you want to hire him, now’s the time!!! He’s going cheap!!
*******He had a drink, and it made him feel like a new man!! Then the new man needed a drink!!
*****He’s in “part two” of “Every Celebrity’s Story!!” This is the part where they fall apart and hit bottom. In “part three,” they make a heroic comeback!! (we hope)

Kristen Stewart canoodled with a sexy vampire in Twilight, but portraying Princess Diana [who died in a tragic car crash in 1997] in Spencer had its own spirited surprises!  “I felt some spooky, spiritual feelings making this movie,” admits the 31-year-old star.  “And I was amazed by the renewed emotion.  Every single time.  Maybe two or three times a week, I would just fully break down about the fact that she had died.  I just could not come to terms with it because I was fighting to keep her alive every single day.  There were times where I was like, ‘Oh, God,’ almost like she was, you know, trying to break through.  It was weird.  And amazing.  I’ve never felt anything like it in my life.”

Dog With Long Ears!

An Oregon woman’s black and tan coonhound earned a Guinness World Record when each of her ears was measured at 12.38 inches long. Guinness said Lou, a 3-year-old canine belonging to Paige Olsen, officially has the longest ears on a dog (living).  Olsen said she always knew Lou’s ears were “extravagantly long,” but she only decided to measure them while sheltering in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. “All black and tan coonhounds have beautiful long ears, some are just longer than others,” Olsen, a veterinary technician, told Guinness.  Olsen said Lou’s especially long ears have not led to any medical complications for the canine.  “Of course everyone wants to touch the ears, they’re very easy to fall in love with with just one sighting,” she said.  See the pic HERE.
*******Those ears are almost as big as Prince Charles’!!!

Real Pet Detective Finds Missing Dog

A Florida woman was reunited with her Yorkshire terrier 59 days after the canine went missing thanks to a pet detective.  Anita Maharaj said her dog, Milo, went missing from her Lake Worth Beach home in August, after a security guard in her subdivision spotted the canine leaving through an open gate.  “It was heartbreaking,” Maharaj told WPTV. “It was stressful. It’s like a different type of pain.”  Maharaj enlisted the services of pet detective Jamie Katz, who set about using online posts and paper flyers to spread the word about Milo.  “I’ve been telling her this whole entire time we’re going to get him back,” Katz said of Maharaj.  The detective’s efforts paid off when a West Palm Beach woman who saw Milo on a poster called to report she had found the canine and brought him to her home. Maharaj was reunited with Milo 59 days after he went missing.
*********Next, they’ll find out the woman and the “pet detective” are in cahoots!!!

Stranger Was In Mom’s Casket!

Two sisters from North Carolina said they made a startling discovery earlier this month when they found a stranger’s body inside the casket that was supposed to contain their mother, a report said.  “There’s no similarity in the person,” Jennetta Archer, one of the sisters, said in an interview. “Their size was way off. When the first person had the clothing on, she was swimming in the clothes because she was so small compared to my mother.”  The sisters claim that Hunter’s Funeral Home in Ahoskie, which is about 120 miles northeast of Raleigh, failed to acknowledge the issue and even denied that the person was someone else, WAVY-TV reported. Their mom’s body was eventually located in the embalming room, they said.  “It would have been a different situation if they had just come up front and addressed it immediately to show that yes, they did, they made an error,” Archer said.
********Maybe the other woman was their REAL mother!!! Ever think of THAT???

Florida Woman Fights Off Gator With Shovel

A shovel possibly saved a 74-year-old Florida woman’s life in Verona Walk, near Naples, on Thursday morning.  Greater Naples Fire Chief Nolan Sapp said the unnamed victim was outside her home gardening when she was attacked, WINK news reported.  The seven-foot-long reptile reportedly pulled her into a nearby canal and chomped into her right leg.  Her neighbor David Webb told NBC2 that he heard screaming and then ran out to see her in the water fighting off the gator.  The woman escaped by hitting the animal with a shovel about “20 to 30 times in the head before it let go,” recounted Webb, who gave her a beach towel to stem the flow of blood.
********Wait. He didn’t jump in and wrestle the gator??
*****Can someone explain again why we don’t just kill these things when we have the chance??

11 Sneaky Signs You Have ‘Eco-Anxiety’ (And What To Do About It)

Huffington Post

  1. You’re in a persistent state of anticipatory anxiety.

Our animalistic need to feel safe operates on the most primitive level. “When we don’t feel safe, we naturally scan our environment to detect any hint of threat,” Carla Marie Manly, a California-based clinical psychologist and author of “Joy From Fear,” told HuffPost.

  1. You feel guilty about not doing more to reduce your carbon footprint.

Odds are your guilt stems from all-or-nothing thinking — you consider your actions as successes or failures, and there’s no gray area. Meanwhile, the gray zone is where many of our daily actions land.

“Recognizing this maladaptive thought pattern is the first step toward alleviating guilt and shame related to your feelings of personal responsibility for your carbon footprint,” Tyson Lippe, a psychiatrist at Heading Health in Austin, Texas, told HuffPost.

Learn to acknowledge the positive decisions instead of focusing on how much more you could have done.

  1. You deeply regret choices that harmed the environment.

Regret can be both constructive and destructive — and it’s important to learn the difference.

“A normal and desirable part of life is learning new information as we grow and change,” Lippe said. “But becoming aware of the unforeseen consequences of our acts and assessing past behavior in the light of new knowledge can lead to being excessively self-critical.”

The next time you find yourself in a regret spiral, pause to notice if you’re now engaged in more eco-friendly behaviors. If you are, focus on all you’re doing now to change the world for the better.

  1. Your doomscrolling is getting out of hand.

Compulsive actions emanating from eco-anxiety — like doomscrolling for the latest climate change tragedies and grim predictions — often occur in conjunction with hyper-focused, obsessive thoughts, which stem from a lack of internal safety and control.

“Such behaviors are the mind’s way of coping with the stress and anxiety of feeling powerless,” Manly said. “Seeking relief, the mind becomes stuck in ruminative patterns.”

Consider setting limitations on the daily or weekly time spent examining eco-associated information if you find yourself worrying excessively. “Being situationally aware is good; being overwhelmed is not,” Lippe said.

  1. You feel extremely resentful when other people do things that damage the planet.

One of the key messages around climate change is that a collective effort is essential to rectify what’s happening to the environment.

“This means everyone’s individual and moral responsibility is engaged, and our response to climate change is based on cooperation,” Lippe said. “Resentment occurs as a result of perceived violation of this moral contract.”

Although it’s a subconscious emotional response, it can be draining and contribute to negative thought patterns. “A helpful way to combat resentment is to first recognize it, then consciously deflect resentment in favor of acceptance,” Lippe said.

  1. You’re paralyzed by being overwhelmed as you build eco-friendly habits.

Because of the urgent reasons behind your desire to build eco-friendly habits, you might find yourself taking on too much too fast. “This makes maintaining those changes exhausting, and you burn yourself out,” Lippe said.

Intermittent and small tweaks are more tolerable than sudden, large ones and can lead to compounding changes, much like rolling a snowball down a hill.

“If feelings of overwhelm make you feel stuck, create a can-do calendar as a guide to monthly macro-changes supported by micro-changes,” Manly said.

  1. You’re phobic about extreme weather.

A phobia is a fear that’s out of proportion with the danger it represents. “However, recent events, including wildfires and floods, have surpassed the scale of what we’ve experienced before and is blurring the boundaries between fear and phobia,” Lippe said.

Fears — and fear’s close relatives, anxiety and phobias — can leave us paralyzed, but being stuck in fear only does more harm.

  1. You have a serious case of existential dread.

You might feel like no matter how hard you try to help the planet, it’s never enough, so you avoid taking proactive steps because they seem to make so little difference. This, paradoxically, forces you to confront the incredible scale of the problem.

“There are many approaches to decrease one’s own carbon footprint ― choosing to bike rather than drive, eating less meat, having fewer children ― but ultimately the problem is beyond the scale of individual actions,” Dodds said.

  1. You have meltdowns about how climate change is affecting wildlife.

A few weeks ago, Dodds was marveling over a photo on Instagram of gorgeous whales sleeping underwater together — until she noticed the text accompanying the picture was describing the decimation of whale populations and its devastating effect on other species.

“In an instant, I went from awe to anguish,” she said.

  1. You struggle to plan for the future.

When a person’s eco-anxiety becomes harmful, it’s often driven by a sense that the future is now uncontrollable and unpredictable.

“This can lead them to feel numbed out and hopeless,” Aimee Daramus, a Chicago-based licensed clinical psychologist and author of “Understanding Bipolar Disorder,” told HuffPost. “They start asking questions about the meaning of having a family and career, or the worth of human life if we’re so easily swept away by increasingly common fires and hurricanes. Is life just going to get harder?”

  1. You experience physical symptoms.

Eco-anxiety can manifest in a variety of physical ways, such as insomnia, panic attacks, digestive issues and lack of focus.

Sometimes these symptoms can be due to an acute stressor and may resolve on their own — but when they become intolerable or chronic, it’s important to determine if they’re due to a medical condition, such as a mood disorder.
