Will Carole Baskin Help Free Joe Exotic?

The Tiger King has accepted an offer from his nemesis in hopes of a reduced prison sentence.   In a new jailhouse interview, Joseph Maldonado-Passage — better known as Joe Exotic — told Entertainment Tonight that he plans to take an offer from his longtime enemy, Carole Baskin, and her husband in a bid to serve less time behind bars.   “It is time for Carole and Howard to put up or shut the hell up, because I’m accepting their offer,” Exotic, 58, said from the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. “And I’m gonna take it one step further than that, OK? It is time to get on the phone to President Biden or whoever they need to that they’ve got in their little financial pocket and say, ‘Hey, Joe is willing to support a big-cat bill to help protect cats in America from being exploited. But we need to keep our end of the deal and get Joe a pardon because this wasn’t really about murder for hire or shooting five tigers — this was about exploiting Joe to support Carole’s agenda.’ So, there’s the offer on the table, all right?”  The Baskins recently vowed they’d help Exotic get out of prison if he agreed to support the Big Cat Public Safety Act, a law seeking to end private ownership of big cats which the couple is leading. On Dec. 3, it was passed by the House of Representatives.    “If Joe were to come out and say, ‘I now know what I did was wrong and I want to help. I would like to support passage of the Big Cat Public Safety Act and stop this breeding.’ If he were to do that, it might position him in a positive way for a pardon. And, frankly, I might be willing to go and urge at least a reduction in his sentence,” Howard told the Mirror earlier this month.
*****Do they get to do that?? Can they step in and say, “Hey.. all grudges are off. Let him go!!!” That doesn’t sound right!
*****Joe doesn’t trust her. He thinks she wants him to get out so she can put him down a meat grinder!!
*****Tip for Joe: try calling Hunter Biden!! If you’ve got some cash, that might do the trick!!

Cheryl Burke Apologizes To Ian Ziering

Cheryl Burke surprised fans in 2016 when she admitted that Ian Ziering, who she danced with on Dancing With The Stars, was her “least favorite” celebrity dance partner.  At the time, she opened up about Ziering on Matt Weiss and Theo Von’s “Allegedly” podcast, according to TMZ, and said that working with the “Beverly Hills, 90210” star made her “want to slit [her] wrists.”  After the interview, she apologized for her comments, saying: “In the heat of an interview conversation, I used a phrase that seemingly makes light of suicide and I deeply regret it.” She made no mention of the actor in her apology.  Now, she’s opened up further about the ordeal in an episode of the “Pretty Messed Up” podcast.  “The one thing I truly regret and want to make amends with is Ian Ziering,” Burke said, according to E! News. “I was completely out of line a few years ago, and I did a podcast where they were asking me who my favorite partner was and who did I hate the most. And I answered Ian Ziering, and I said something along the lines of ‘I’d rather slit my wrists than dance with Ian Ziering again.'”  She then addressed Ziering directly and offered an official apology.  “I truly am so sorry for being so inconsiderate and just talking trying to get a reaction and putting him as my punching bag really,” said the dancer. “I took it to that next level of nastiness. I was so nasty. And I’m here to publicly apologize to Ian and his family…”  She added: “I lost a lot of respect for myself. It haunts me till this day.”

Bush Has Advice For McConaughey

George W. Bush has some advice for movie star Matthew McConaughey — the political world is not like starring in a rom-com.  “I tell you this, it’s a tough business,” the former president said on “Today with Hoda & Jenna” Tuesday, when asked about the possibility that he would run for Texas governor.  Bush’s daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, who co-hosts the show, first brought up the subject of McConaughey making a run, saying that the Lincoln pitchman “is making headlines down in Texas, dad.”  “I read that, Matthew, yeah,” Bush responded.  Co-host Hoda Kotb then chimed in: “And he’s actually ahead of Governor Abbott in the polls in this moment. So what do you think?”  “I have no idea,” Bush said, advising, “It’s a tough business.”  A Dallas Morning News/University of Texas at Tyler poll released this week showed McConaughey currently has support from 45 percent of registered Texas voters, compared with 33 percent for Republican incumbent Greg Abbott, and 22 percent for “someone else” in a race for governor.

Queen Elizabeth Turns 95

Queen Elizabeth II marked her 95th birthday Wednesday by admitting she was still in a “period of great sadness” over the death of husband Prince Philip.  “I have, on the occasion of my 95th birthday today, received many messages of good wishes, which I very much appreciate,” the Queen said in a statement on the royal family’s social media sites.  “While as a family we are in a period of great sadness, it has been a comfort to us all to see and to hear the tributes paid to my husband, from those within the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world.  “My family and I would like to thank you all for the support and kindness shown to us in recent days,” she wrote.  She had been married to Philip, who died this month at age 99, for 73 years. She was forced to sit alone at his funeral Saturday because of coronavirus restrictions.  “We have been deeply touched, and continue to be reminded that Philip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life,” she said.  She signed the message “Elizabeth R,” a traditional sign-off, with the “R” standing for “regina,” which means “queen” in Latin.

Prince Harry Skips The Queen’s Birthday

Prince Harry has flown home to California—missing the queen’s first birthday as a widow—amid growing evidence that his visit to the U.K. did not significantly improve “strained” relations with his father and brother despite some positive signs.  Harry arrived at LAX airport on Tuesday afternoon, getting back to his home in Montecito by 4 p.m. local time, dailymail.com reports.  Hopes were fading Wednesday that a brief carefully choreographed chat between Harry and William as they walked out of their grandfather’s funeral on Saturday would herald a new era of royal relations.  The Times reported that Harry’s relationship with his father and brother continues to be “strained” and said any exchanges between them at the funeral will have done little to improve matters. Harry will now begin another 10-day quarantine as recommended for travelers to the U.S.

Giving it another go!  Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell were spotted in NYC together, sparking speculation that the former Bachelor couple have rekindled their relationship.  The pair parted ways while the show was still airing after photos of the graphic designer, 24, at a plantation-themed college party in 2018 surfaced on social media.  “Did Rachael make a mistake?  Yes.  But she owned up to it and was willing to learn from it,” says a source.  “It didn’t change her feelings for Matt or vice versa.”  The reality star, 29, “was in love with Rachael too, and he couldn’t just turn those feelings off,” the source says.  “No one would be surprised if they decided to reconcile.”

The actress, 49, stars in AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead.

Last time I cried-  I was watching My Octopus Teacher with my boys [Story, 13, and Easton, 11], and when he brought his son into the ocean to experience the octopus, it just got me.  And of course, they love to tease me.  “Are you crying?”  l’m just like, “Maybe.”

Last time I missed someone-  I lost my dad a few years ago, and around the holidays I was missing hugging him.  I think because this was such an intense year, I was just missing that love and the comfort he gave me.  Just that joy.

Last wardrobe malfunction-  The entire interior inseam of my jeans busted open at the airport.  I was asking total strangers for a sewing kit.  Then the thread wasn’t long enough, so I still had this weird pooch of skin sticking out.  And it wasn’t tan either.  No bueno.

DMX’s Tragic Final Days-(In Touch)

Rapper and actor DMX-real name Earl Simmons-died on April 9 at age 50 after being on life-support for a week following a heart attack at his New York home. “Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end,” his family said in a statement.  The father of 15 had long struggled with substance abuse, which reportedly triggered his cardiac arrest.  He showed few signs of trouble in his final days:  His fiancée, Desiree Lindstrom, shared a March 30 video of the healthy looking and upbeat star jamming to a Michael Jackson tune; and his final single, “X Moves,” was released the day he died.  But secretly, those close to him say, he was struggling.  “That man suffered every day.  He took every body’s pain and made it his,” fellow musician Swizz Beatz said in one of many moving tributes from the hip-hop world.  “He’s not in pain no more.  We lost a real giant.”

Robot Vacuum Mistaken For Burglar

Police responding to a report of an intruder at a California home broke down the front door and stormed the house to find the suspected burglar was actually the owner’s robot vacuum.  Yana Sydnor said she and her 2-year-old daughter were sleeping at their Natomas home when she was awakened by a sound she thought was an intruder in her home.  “Say about 1 a.m., I hear over my meditation music, ‘Boom, boom, boom,'” Sydnor told KOVR-TV.  Sydnor said she texted friends to tell them there was a burglar in her home.  “I was like, ‘Hey, someone is in my house,’ and they were like, ‘Call the police.’ I was like, ‘Oh yeah, yeah, call the police.'”  Sydnor called 911 and hid in the bathroom with her daughter.  She said she heard police break down her front door moments later, followed by the sound of laughter.  The police discovered the suspected intruder was the family’s robot vacuum.

Paraglider Plays Violin

A Turkish musician who was nervous about going paragliding for the first time brought his violin to distract himself from his fear and played a midair concert.  Fikret Eren, who teaches violin, said his longtime friend Semih Er, a professional paraglider, encouraged him to visit the skies for the first time in a tandem paragliding session.  Eren said he was nervous about taking his first flight, and Er suggested he find a way to distract himself during his initial outing.  Eren took the advice and brought his violin along to play the instrument high over the province of Kayseri.  Er said Eren overcame his fear and is now enrolled in a class to get his own paragliding license.  See the video HERE.

Aggressive Goose

Customers and employees at a New Jersey diner said an aggressive goose is protecting his brood in the parking lot and has been attacking humans who get too close.  Witnesses said the male goose has frequently been spotted in the parking lot at the Park West Diner in Woodland Park and has been acting threatening toward customers and employees.  At least one man has been knocked over by the goose and left with bruises on his face from the bird’s pecking.  Experts said male geese are known to be aggressive this time of year because they are protecting their eggs. Canada geese are protected under the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act and regulated by the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife.  “If you go near their nest, they will come after you, they don’t bite, but they’ll clam on you and you’ll have a black or blue mark that will last a month or so,” Paterson Animal Control Officer John DeCanto told WABC-TV.  He said male geese usually stay close to the nests where their mates are tending the eggs.  See the video HERE.

Fisherman Catches Artillery Shell

A group of magnet fishermen pulling up metal from a Michigan river made a surprising discovery — a World War II-era artillery shell.  Ryan McCollum, of the Rustic Treasure Hunters, said he was magnet fishing in Grand Rapids with his son, Lochlan, 8, and his cousin, Chris Hample, when Hample pulled a 2-foot-long metal object out of the Grand River.  “I’m like, ‘What is that? There’s no way,'” McCollum told WOOD-TV. “And then as I got closer, I saw it was an artillery shell, so that was very surprising for what you can find in the river.”  The fishermen alerted the authorities and police cleared the Sixth Street Bridge, where the men had been casting their lines, while the captain of the bomb squad examined the find. “It was a 75-millimeter armor piercing artillery shell. The bomb squad confirmed this, too,” McCollum said. “It was actually used in Sherman tanks in WWII.”  The bomb squad determined the shell was safe to transport and it was taken away for further investigation and disposal.

9 Therapist-Approved Tips To Tackle Nighttime Anxiety

Huffington Post

Prepare for bed

Therapist Marteka Swaby recommends getting into a regular sleep routine so you’re striving for the same bed time and wake time each day. Avoid screens up to two hours before your head hits the pillow, she adds.

It might also help to transform your bedroom into a sanctuary, like an at-home spa. “Create a calm and soothing environment in your bedroom,” she says. “Oils and calming music can help with this.” Once in bed, Treacher suggests imagining you’re receiving a safe, full-body massage. “Start at your toes and imagine every little detail, and how it would relax you,” she says.

Acknowledge your anxiety

Rather than trying to ignore it, Treacher urges people to acknowledge anxiety in their bodies. “Be interested in where it actually is and what it feels like physiologically,” she says. “Sometimes just staying with a feeling helps it to shift. It is often the fear of the feeling, rather than the feeling itself, that is the difficulty.”

Breathe it out

Meditating or practicing deep breathing exercises before bed can help you offload any burdens and wind down. A good place to start is by taking 10 deep breaths. Taylor says focusing on breathing deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth should calm your fight-or-flight response.

“There are many good apps that can be downloaded and listened to that will focus your brain on something other than the anxious thoughts,” she says. Try Calm; Headspace; Insight Timer; and Stop, Breathe and Think.

Do a ‘polyvagal’ exercise

The vagus nerve – which is the longest cranial nerve in the body – can be used to counteract your stress response system, which is important in reducing anxiety. And the good news is: you can exercise it.

To calm your nervous system down, Treacher recommends sitting or lying comfortably. Now, turn your head to one side as far as is comfortable, turning your eyes as far as you can in that direction. “Stay there until you yawn, breathe deeply or sigh,” she says – and repeat on the other side.

Walk it off

If you’re lying in bed awake, feeling anxious, Jenny Wardle, a Counselling Directory member, recommends getting up, having a short walk around your home and making a warm (caffeine-free) drink to relax you.

Getting out of bed and engaging in an activity can help calm down the stress hormones being produced in your body, explains Taylor. Instead of pottering around and having a hot drink, you might want to read, write, sew or try yoga – all things that help get rid of adrenaline.

Try a grounding exercise

If you get back into bed and anxiety is still swirling, it can be helpful to practice a grounding exercise. This involves touching five things, seeing four things, hearing three things, smelling two things and tasting one thing, says Taylor.

“By taking your time to do this slowly – really feel the fabric or touch of what you feel against your skin and really see what it is in front of you and name it – you allow your internal system to regulate itself. You can do this out loud too, if appropriate.”

Take stock of the day

Can’t stop thinking about work, or something else that happened in the day? Wardle recommends taking stock of the situation: what really happened and what didn’t? How is the mind exaggerating? Are things really so bad?

It might help to make a quick list of what’s going on in your head. What are your top three worries? Now, add brief solutions to the issues you’ve written down. And we’re talking bite-size, actionable chunks – not lengthy paragraph-long conclusions.

Trick your brain into tiredness

Just as a baby tries to keep itself awake, try keeping your eyes open, and then letting them close, suggests Treacher.

“First, let your eyes close just a little. Then, open your eyes fully. Then, close your eyes a quarter way. After this, open your eyes. Repeat, gradually increasing the amount you close your eyes, until your eyes close fully, before opening your eyes again. This way of behaving like a baby may fool your brain into tiredness.”

Be kind to yourself

Lastly, be gentle with yourself for feeling this anxiety. Don’t get worked up or annoyed at yourself for feeling it – be kind.

“Often we feel frustrated with ourselves when we have a strong emotion. But it’s there for a reason,” says Treacher. “Explore how it’s trying to protect you. Be curious about what it’s actually wanting from you, and what it believes. You may find that it has held on to a belief that you no longer value.”

Ultimately, if the anxiety starts causing a disruption to your life, or stops you functioning well in your relationships, it’s a good idea to talk to a professional who can help you understand it and give you techniques for navigating it.

“Anxiety can be quickly resolved by talking through with a trained professional,” says Wardle. “It doesn’t have to be loads of sessions. Sometimes we just need someone to help us think a little more calmly and rationally.”
