Batgirl Movie Shelved

The Batgirl movie has been shelved according to studio sources. Leslie Grace starred as the superhero with Michael Keaton reprising his role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.  The news comes as a surprise considering it had completed production and a series of reshoots. Now, Warner Bros. has decided not to release the film in theaters or on its HBO Max streaming service.  Sources cited poor test screening results and the executives deeming the film had not met the standards set by theatrical films Aquaman and The Batman. Warner Brothers is set to release the upcoming Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Flash.  Keaton also appears as Wayne/Batman in The Flash, along with Ben Affleck’s version of the character. Sources also reported that Batgirl was greenlit under chairman Toby Emmerich at Warner Bros. and new Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has canceled the film during its post-production, despite having spent $90 million on production.

Monica Lewinsky Goes After Beyonce

Monica Lewinsky has pleaded with Beyonce to remove a lyric from her 2013 song, “Partition,” which addressed the scandal involving former President Bill Clinton.  Following criticism from the disability rights community about Beyoncé  using an “ableist” term in a new song on her “Renaissance” album, Lewinsky asked fans to look more into the singer’s history with offensive remarks.  “Uhmm, while we’re at it… #Partition,” Lewinsky tweeted Monday to her million followers, referencing lyrics from the song released on Bey’s self-titled, fifth studio album.  “He popped all my buttons, and he ripped my blouse. He Monica Lewinsky-ed all on my gown,” Beyoncé sings on the track.  Clinton had an affair with Lewinsky while she was working as an intern at the White House between 1995-97. Beyoncé released the 14-track album with accompanying visuals in 2013, which went certified double platinum and topped global music charts.

Did Wendy Williams Get Married?

Wendy Williams claimed to Hollywood Unlocked founder Jason Lee that she secretly married a New York Police Department officer named Henry, but her rep says she spoke too soon.  “That’s inaccurate,” William Selby tells Page Six. “She is excited about a new relationship and probably got carried away in conversation.”  As for whether Williams’ mystery man is, in fact, a cop, Selby adds, “Wendy doesn’t wish to disclose details at the moment.”  On Tuesday night, Lee recalled his phone call with Williams who told him she was flying to Los Angeles later this week but also had some other bombshell news.  “She says, ‘I’m married.’ I’m like, ‘What?’ She’s like, ‘I got married,’” the podcast host recalled of their back-and-forth.  “I’m like, ‘You got married when?’ And she’s like, ‘I got married last week.’”

Jason Momoa Serves Water On Flight

Jason Momoa is seen on social media handing out water on a Hawaiian Airlines flight, which jokingly called him “Aguaman.”  He was shown handing out Mananalu water — which was created by Momoa — while wearing a gray suit and black crewneck T-shirt, with a pink flower tucked in his hair.  One TikTok user dubbed the actor as “Aguaman,” referencing the actor’s hit film as well as a play on the Spanish word for “water.”  Kylee Yoshikawa posted the 11-second clip on TikTok with the caption, “When Jason Momoa is your flight attendant,” along with a very stripped-down version of “Under the Sea” from “The Little Mermaid.” The video has since hit 590,000 likes as of Wednesday.  In addition to the aluminum water bottles, he gave every passenger a whopping 10,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles.  Momoa’s stint as a flight attendant comes as several high-profile celebrities have been slammed for using private jets to get to various locations.  See the video HERE.

Selena Gomez Rebooting “Working Girl”       

20th Century Studios is looking to revive “Working Girl” with the help of Selena Gomez.  She is in final negotiations to produce a reboot the Mike Nichols-directed comedy starring Sigourney Weaver, Melanie Griffith and Harrison Ford.  Ilana Pena, who created the Disney+ series “Diary of a Future President,” is adapting the screenplay for the film, which is eyeing a release on Hulu. A director has not been announced.  Casting has not been set, and it’s unclear if Gomez will star in the “Working Girl” remake in addition to serving as a producer. The 1988 version follows an ambitious 30-something Staten Island secretary who takes over office operations while her boss is recovering from a broken leg. But when the secretary pitches a winning idea, her boss attempts to take credit.

Stolen Dog Found 600 Miles Away

A dog stolen from a Texas family was found five years later when she was picked up by an animal control officer more than 600 miles away.  The City of Borger said in a Facebook post that an animal control officer recently picked up a stray German shepherd and scanned the canine for a microchip.  The dog’s microchip identified her as Sheba, a pet stolen five years earlier from Stephanie Malstrom’s home in Baytown, Texas, a town about 600 miles away.  Malstrom said in 2018 that the then-2-year-old dog has been stolen when she wandered up to a stranger’s pickup truck outside her home.  “She’s such a loving animal. She went right to him, thinking she was going to go for a ride. And she hasn’t been back,” she told KTRK-TV in 2018.

Make Money Tasting Candy

A Canadian company announced it is seeking a “Chief Candy Officer” to make up to $78,000 a year working from home and taste-testing candy.  Candy Funhouse, an online candy retailer, posted a job opening to LinkedIn seeking a “Chief Candy Officer” whose duties would include “being the head taste tester” and helping to determine what products will be sold on the website, and which of those will carry the “CCO (Chief Candy Officer) Stamp of Approval.”  The position pays up to $78,000 a year and is open to anyone over the age of 5, the company said.  “Imagine your best memories around candy, and having that every day at work,” Candy Funhouse Chief Executive Officer Jamal Hejazi told CNN.  See the video HERE.

Mac and Cheese Record

An Idaho-based food company broke a Guinness World Record by cooking up a vat of macaroni and cheese that weighed in at 4,742 pounds.  Schreiber Foods announced on social media it successfully broke the record for largest macaroni and cheese when the dish was assembled and examined by a Guinness World Records adjudicator at the company’s factory in Logan.  The 4,742-pound mac and cheese broke the record of 2,469 pounds, which was set by Cabot Creamery Cooperative and Chef John Folse & Company in New Orleans in 2010.  Organizers said the the attempt was initially delayed by Guinness World Record Judge Brittany Dunn’s flight and delayed a second time when the initial attempt using pre-salted milk was scrapped. Officials said Guinness rules required that each ingredient be added separately.

Turtle Interrupts Train Service

Railway service in England was disrupted when a 110-pound tortoise wandered onto the train tracks.  Network Rail Anglia said three train services were affected Monday when a giant African spurred tortoise made his way onto the tracks near Harling Road station in the Cambridge area and decided to hold his ground.  Rail officials said the tortoise, named Clyde, was clipped by a train, but sustained only minor injuries. The escaped pet will be returned to his home, Network Rail Anglia said.  “We are happy to report that Clyde is OK [and] will be returning home soon; if a little shell shocked perhaps,” the service tweeted. 5 Signs Your Boss Is Deeply Insecure

1. They take credit for your work.

“Oftentimes bosses who are unsure of themselves need to prop themselves up by taking credit for your accomplishments,” Taylor said. “This is frustrating, disheartening and can impede your ability to get work done.”  One way to combat a manager who steals your ideas and stifles your growth is to find strength in numbers, Brown advised.

“Look for a peer to partner with and share the idea, but also look for an advocate at a higher level who you trust,” Brown added. That way, it becomes harder for your boss to get away with passing off your idea as their own.

 

2. They’re gatekeepers who keep you from meeting other colleagues and advancing.

Don’t expect any congratulations from this kind of manager. They may either be threatened by others’ success or lack self-confidence in their abilities, which leads them to see their direct reports as potential enemies. “I don’t want you to threaten me or expose me,” Brown said of the mindset of insecure bosses.

To limit your power, they often become gatekeepers who try to control the conversations you are having with other teams and the information you are receiving, Brown said. “They really limit what people know about you and how much you contribute to the department,” she said.  At worst, they can hold you back from getting promoted.

“Ultimately, they don’t want you to succeed because they are threatened,” Taylor said. “No one should be in a competitive situation with their boss. With this variety of managers, your career may be hindered — at least until insecurities dissipate.”

 

3. They micromanage you.

They do not trust the judgment of their team members, and you can expect them to hover over your shoulder for status updates.

“If your boss is insecure with their own competence, you will see them get rigid around control,” said organizational psychologist Laura Gallaher of the consulting firm Gallaher Edge. “This could look like micromanaging, being overly involved in everything or undermining your decisions. They’re doing this because they’re afraid of feeling embarrassed if things aren’t done exactly as they would do it.”

If you are dealing with a micromanager who lacks trust in you, “one of the best ways to counteract that is by communicating regularly, with frequent project updates, for example,” Taylor said. “You want to get to the point where your boss tells you to actually ratchet down the communications.”

 

4. They blow up at any perceived mistake.

When your boss feels uncertain about their capabilities, they can shut down and lash out when you offer feedback. “When people feel insecure, there’s less collaboration and there is less consensus-building,” Brown said. “There’s an overreaction to being challenged.”  When you work for this kind of supervisor, your behavior may change for the worse. You may become hyper-vigilant to the things that frustrate them, even though that’s not fair because they should be regulating their own emotions, Brown said. You become worried about how to avoid asking them questions or setting them off, she added.  If you have an overreacting manager, Brown recommends limiting the interactions you have with them alone and asking your questions in group settings.

“Often if someone is very explosive with you and it’s directly targeted at you, they know that they are treating you in a manner that if done in front of other people wouldn’t be appropriate,” she said.

 

5. They’re so hands-off you forget they’re there.

They don’t trust their judgment and can fail to be assertive. This insecurity over competence “could look like avoiding making decisions, distancing themselves from a project or not giving input. If it fails, they get to preserve the right to say, ‘Hey, I wasn’t involved,’” Gallaher said, noting that this kind of behavior does not make them an effective leader.  Gallaher finds the best way to cope is to create psychological safety with them so that they don’t see you as a harsh critic.

“You want your boss to feel like they won’t be judged by you. It’s the fear of judgment that triggers the insecure behavior,” she said. “Assume positive intent behind everything they do…. Get curious, not furious. Ask them how they’re feeling about certain projects or situations, and practice active listening.”  Of course, there are limits to how much you should attempt to talk it out with them. If dealing with an insecure boss is ruining your mental health, you should start planning your exit.

“Remember, your job is not supposed to be a life sentence,” Taylor said. “If it’s untenable, it’s time to conduct a discreet job search.”
