Real Housewives Police Drama

Police in Newport Beach, California, were called to a home reportedly belonging to Elizabeth Lyn Vargas, a former star of TV’s “Real Housewives of Orange County,” on Tuesday night over an alleged “felony crime,” reports say.  Three suspects had barricaded themselves inside the home and were eventually arrested, the Los Angeles Times reported. One of the suspects is “believed to be an ex-boyfriend of Vargas,” TMZ reports.  The former reality star was not harmed and was not taken hostage during the ordeal, according to TMZ.  The first suspect was taken into custody about 7:40 p.m., with police SWAT personnel apprehending the other two suspects soon after.  The exact nature of the alleged crime was not clear, according to the newspaper. Vargas joined Season 15 of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” in 2020. Last year it was announced that Vargas and castmates Kelly Dodd and Braunwyn Windham-Burke would not be returning for the next season.

Martha Stewart Shares How To Take The Perfect Selfie

Martha Stewart is showing the world another side of herself that many likely never knew existed.  She shared a “thirst trap” to TikTok back in July 2020 and revisited the now-viral social media post Tuesday as she offered her Instagram followers a tutorial of sorts on how to create the ultimate selfie.  “Remember my iconic thirst trap? I’m finally revealing how I create the perfect selfie,” the “Martha Stewart Living” mogul captioned the snap, which shows Stewart sipping tea and applying makeup and lip gloss as she gazes at the camera in various poses.  Stewart plays to some 1.5 million followers on her Instagram account and in just 11 hours, the post has been liked nearly 60,000 times.  “Okay not miss Martha coming for all the beauty influencers,” wrote one commenter who added four heart-eye emojis, while another loyal Stewart fan screamed, “THE QUEEN OF SAUCE!!!!!!” and included no more than 11 heart emojis.  With Stewart’s internet and street credibility already cemented in stone, she has injected much humor into her life in recent years.
*******It’s not humor!! She’s serious!!
******Did she show the “Jurassic Boobs??”
*******She makes men “thirsty..” but they’re drilling a dry hole!!

Simon Cowell Spotted With Cast After Crash

Simon Cowell was spotted sporting a bright cast in London on Tuesday after breaking his arm in an electric motorbike accident last week.  He appeared to be in good spirits as he smiled for photographers while taking a walk outside.  Cowell went casual for the outing, donning a black zip-up jacket, sweats and a bracelet tied around his right wrist.  It looks as if his cast has only one signature at the moment – from his 7-year-old son, Eric, whom he shares with fiancée Lauren Silverman.  Close-up pics also reveal what appears to be a scab on the right side of his upper cheek, perhaps having scraped himself during the fall.  Cowell was hospitalized after he “slipped off” and fell off his e-bike for a second time last week.  A source confirmed the former “American Idol” judge was not seriously injured but did break his arm.  “He’s doing well and is healing at home.”  The incident reportedly took place near his home in West London last Thursday.  “He was pedalling along, with his electric motor on, when the wheels suddenly went from under him after hitting a wet patch,” an insider told The Sun Monday night. “He slipped and went flying over the handlebars into the middle of the road.”  Cowell was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time.  Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time Cowell crashed while riding his souped-up ride.  Cowell broke his back in three places while testing out the $20,000 bike outside his Malibu mansion in August 2020. He underwent a six-hour surgery to repair his spine, and doctors inserted a metal rod into his back.

View Co-Host Upset With Whoopi’s Suspension

Whoopi Goldberg’s co-hosts on “The View” are furious at ABC for suspending the embattled personality over her claim that the Holocaust was “not about race,” according to a report.  ABC News president Kim Godwin announced late Tuesday that “effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for her wrong and hurtful comments. While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments.”  In an email to ABC staffers, Godwin praised Goldberg for her apology and inviting Anti-Defamation League CEO Greenblatt on Tuesday’s show to discuss her offensive remarks.  However, Goldberg’s suspension came as some ABC insiders insisted that her apology wasn’t enough and demanded she be fired.  “People are really upset and don’t understand why it took two days,” an ABC executive told the Daily Beast.  Still, other network insiders told the outlet that Goldberg’s co-hosts — Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar and Ana Navarro — are furious that she was suspended.  Navarro, a regular guest host who was on Monday’s show, defended Goldberg.  “I love Whoopi Goldberg. I love ‘The View,’” Navarro told the Daily Beast on Tuesday evening. “This was an incredibly unfortunate incident. Whoopi is a lifelong ally to the Jewish community. She is not an anti-Semite, period. I am sad. And I have nothing else to say.”
*******Well, Roseanne was FIRED by ABC over a tweet!! And she IS Jewish!!
*****Note to ABC: Maybe the women of “The View” should start discussing recipes and fashion. No more serious stuff!!
******Whoopi was factually wrong, but she apologized and corrected herself. Let it go.
******And while we’re forgiving Whoopi, how about allowing JOE ROGAN a little slack??

STUPID NEWS

Six More Weeks Of Winter

Legendary weather prognosticator Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his burrow Wednesday morning at 7:25 a.m. and saw his shadow, which means that there will be six more weeks of winter.  Phil’s anticipated prediction drew thousands of onlookers to the small western Pennsylvania town of Punxsutawney for the first time since 2020 after the event was held virtually in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Of course, Phil isn’t the only forecaster capable of long-range weather outlooks. AccuWeather’s team of meteorologists released its own spring forecast for the U.S. Wednesday morning.
*******The fact-checkers looked it up!! Phil has been correct about 31% of the time!!
*******If Bill Murray isn’t there, we don’t believe it!!!

Queen’s “Jubbly” Plates!

Plates and mugs produced to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee are being sold as unusual collector’s items due to misspelling the event as “Platinum Jubbly.”  Website Wholesale Clearance said the dishes were made by a manufacturing company in China and were meant to be told in British stores for the queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the celebration of her 70th year on the throne.  But they were pulled when the manufacturers discovered the event was misspelled as “Jubbly.” Wholesale Clearance is selling the entire stock of 10,800 misprinted plates, mugs and tea sets for $43,817.76.  The website compared the typographical error to the unusual cockney accent employed by Del Boy, the main character of long-running BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses.  “So if you are a fan of the Queen and Del Boy … two birds with one stone,” the listing states.
******In Britain, “jubbly” is slang for “breasts!!” And the Queen’s jubblies are certainly “platinum!!”
*******Whoever spelled that had ONE JOB!!!

Florida Man Reels In Sniper Rifles

A Florida man who took his grandson magnet fishing in a canal said the duo reeled in a pair of unexpected items: sniper rifles.  Duane Smith said he watched a YouTube video about magnet fishing, the practice of casting a line with a magnet into the water to see what items can be brought up to the surface, and decided to give it a try in a Miami-Dade County canal with his grandson, Allen Cadwalader, 11.  The pair used a 5-pound magnet to cast their line into the C-102 canal in Princeton and after about 5 minutes, they pulled up a Barrett .50-caliber sniper rifle.  A few minutes later, they pulled up an identical rifle, Smith said.  Smith said both guns were missing their barrels and had their serial numbers filed off.  The rifles were turned over to the Miami-Dade County Police Department. Detective Christopher Thomas said police will perform tests to try to determine whether the guns were used in any known crimes.
*********Duh!!! It’s Miami!!!
*******The rifles were used by some bottom-feeder!!

Chicken Run Leads To Lottery Win

A Maryland man whose wife sent him to the store to buy precooked chicken came home with a scratch-off lottery ticket worth $100,000.  The 52-year-old Hagerstown man told Maryland Lottery officials his wife sent him to the Martin’s store in Hagerstown to pick up an important ingredient for the family’s dinner.  “My wife sent me in to get precooked chicken,” the man said.  While at the store, he stopped at the lottery vending machine to buy $10 worth of Mega Millions tickets and a $10 scratch-off ticket.  The man said he scratched the ticket, a Monopoly X50 game, after dinner. He said he initially misread the prize. “I thought, at least I won $10 and I’ll get my money back,” he recalled.  The player soon realized the prize was actually $100,000.  The couple said their plans for the winnings include a family vacation, paying down their debt, making home improvements and possibly buying a new TV.
*********Most importantly, did he remember to buy the chicken??

6 Money Mistakes People Make in Their 20s (And How to Avoid Them)

The Penny Hoarder

Blunder No. 1: Not Getting Free Gift Cards When You Shop

What do you usually do with your receipts? You check out, they hand you a mile-long piece of paper, and you frantically stuff it to the bottom of a grocery bag. Pretty worthless.

But a free app called Fetch Rewards will turn them into gift cards. It partners with tons of brands to give you points for every grocery receipt you share. Then you can exchange them for gift cards to places like Amazon, Walmart, Chipotle and dozens of other retailers.

And it’s perfect for those of us who don’t want to put a ton of work into this. All you have to do is send Fetch a photo of your receipt, and it does everything for you. No scanning barcodes or searching for offers — and you can use it with any grocery receipt.

When you download the app, use the code PENNY to automatically earn 2,000 points when you scan your first receipt. Then start snapping photos of your recent receipts to see how many points you can earn without a single trip to the store!

Not so bad for a useless receipt, right?

Blunder No. 2: Not Earning Anything On Your Savings

You’ve probably heard the best way to grow your money is to stick it in a savings account and leave it there for, well, ever. That’s bad advice.

But maybe you’re just looking for a place to safely stash it away — but still earn money. Under your mattress or in a safe will get you nothing. And a typical savings account won’t do you much better. (Ahem, 0.05% is nothing these days.)

But a debit card called Aspiration lets you earn up to 5% cash back and up to 20 times the average interest on the money in your account.

Not too shabby!

Enter your email address here to get a free Aspiration Spend and Save account. After you confirm your email, securely link your bank account so they can start helping you get extra cash. Your money is FDIC insured and they use a military-grade encryption which is nerd talk for “this is totally safe.”

Blunder No. 3: Paying Too Much Interest To Credit Card Companies

If you have credit card debt, you know. The anxiety, the interest rates, the fear you’re never going to escape…

And the truth is, your credit card company doesn’t really care. It’s just getting rich by ripping you off with high interest rates. But a website called AmOne wants to help.

If you owe your credit card companies $50,000 or less, AmOne will match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every single one of your balances.

The benefit? You’ll be left with one bill to pay each month. And because personal loans have lower interest rates (AmOne rates start at 2.49% APR), you’ll get out of debt that much faster. Plus: No credit card payment this month.

AmOne keeps your information confidential and secure, which is probably why after 20 years in business, it still has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

It takes two minutes to see if you qualify for up to $50,000 online. You do need to give AmOne a real phone number in order to qualify, but don’t worry — they won’t spam you with phone calls.

Blunder No. 4: Paying Too Much For Car Insurance

When’s the last time you checked car insurance prices?

You should shop your options every six months or so — it could save you some serious money. Let’s be real, though. It’s probably not the first thing you think about when you wake up. But it doesn’t have to be.

A website called Insure.com makes it super easy to compare car insurance prices. All you have to do is enter your ZIP code and your age, and it’ll show you your options.

Using Insure.com, people have saved an average of $489 a year.

Yup. That could be $500 back in your pocket just for taking a few minutes to look at your options.

Blunder No. 5: Thinking You Don’t Have Enough Money To Invest

Take a look at the Forbes Richest People list, and you’ll notice almost all the billionaires have one thing in common — they own another company.

But if you work for a living and don’t happen to have millions of dollars lying around, that can sound totally out of reach.

But with an app called Stash, it doesn’t have to be. It lets you be a part of something that’s normally exclusive to the richest of the rich — on Stash you can buy pieces of other companies for as little as $1.

That’s right — you can invest in pieces of well-known companies, such as Amazon, Google, Apple and more for as little as $1. The best part? If these companies profit, so can you. Some companies even send you a check every quarter for your share of the profits, called dividends.1

It takes two minutes to sign up, and it’s totally secure. With Stash, all your investments are protected by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) — that’s industry talk for, “Your money’s safe.”2

Plus, when you use the link above, Stash will give you a $5 sign-up bonus once you deposit $5 into your account.*

Blunder No. 6: Assuming Life Insurance Is Expensive And Time Consuming

Have you thought about how your family would manage without your income after you’re gone? How they’ll pay the bills? Send the kids through school? Now’s a good time to start planning for the future by looking into a term life insurance policy.

You’re probably thinking: I don’t have the time or money for that. But your application can take minutes — and you could leave your family up to $1 million with a company called Bestow.

Rates start at just $16 a month. The peace of mind knowing your family is taken care of is priceless.

If you’re under the age of 54 and want to get a fast life insurance quote without a medical exam or even getting up from the couch, get a free quote from Bestow.
