Songwriters Hall Of Fame Inductees

The Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced its 2023 inductees.  Sade Adu, aka Sade, Glen BallardCalvin Broadus Jr., aka Snoop Dogg, Gloria Estefan, Jeff Lynne, Teddy Riley and Liz Rose will be inducted into the hall of fame this year.  The induction ceremony and awards gala will take place June 15 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York. Additional special award honorees will be announced soon.  “The music industry does not exist without songwriters delivering great songs first. Without them there is no recorded music, no concert business, no merch… nothing, it all starts with the song and the songwriter,” Songwriters Hall of Fame chairman Nile Rodgers said in a statement.  The class of 2023 is credited with such songs as “Smooth Operator,” “Man in the Mirror,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “Rhythm is Gonna Get You,” “Mr. Blue Sky,” “My Prerogative” and “You Belong with Me.”
********Glen Ballard not only wrote “Man in the Mirror,” he also co-wrote the entire “Jagged Little Pill” album with Alanis!! Now THAT’S range!!!

Tom Brady and Sally Field?

Tom Brady’s former teammate Rob Gronkowski suggested Sally Field could be a potential love match for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback following his divorce from Gisele Bündchen.  He floated the idea to Brady after remarking on Brady’s chemistry with the 76-year-old actress during a scene in their upcoming sports comedy “80 For Brady.”  “Tom, have you been considering dating Sally Field after that Oscar worthy-performance or what?” Gronkowski jokingly asked during an appearance on the SiriusXM podcast “Let’s Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray” Monday.  “We did have kind of an on-camera little, you know, thing going on,” the seven-time Super Bowl champion admitted.  “So, it was actually nice. We really enjoyed our time together. So we’ll see where it goes from here.”  “Yeah, I know, I noticed that,” Gronkowski said as Brady laughed.  “You and Jane Fonda had a good scene too, which was a little … I thought that was really spicy,” Brady told Gronkowski.  They both played themselves in “80 For Brady,” which was produced by Brady’s 199 Productions.  Field stars alongside Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Rita Moreno in the movie. They play four best friends and Brady superfans who travel together to Houston, Texas, to see the New England Patriots take on the Atlanta Falcons in the 2017 Super Bowl.
******Yeah… these are last women we want to spend two hours staring at!!
*****Jane Fonda looks like they took her wax figure and did stop-action animation!!!
*****These actresses may be the only four women that Gronk and Brady HAVEN’T slept with!!

Whoopi Goldberg Slams Audience Member

Whoopi Goldberg slammed an audience member of “The View” Wednesday after they heckled the always controversial host — by calling her an “old broad” on live television.  All the hosts came out to take their seats to a “very happy” audience when one particularly enthusiastic member shouted at Whoopi.  “Did you just call me an ‘old broad’? Yeah,” she snapped in response to the on-air critique. “She said, ‘You old broad,’ and I was like, ‘Hey, it’s Wednesday, and I am an old broad, and happy about it.’ “  The camera then cut to a woman in a large fur hat who nodded in acknowledgment.  It was then that Goldberg’s equally outspoken co-host, Sunny Hostin reminded her that being an “old broad” is far better than the alternative.  “The alternative is not attractive to any of us,” said Goldberg. “We all want to be old broads and old dudes, you know?”  The fur-capped woman later became a focal point for the cameraman throughout the show.
********That’s how you become famous!!!
****She got her name because of flatulence (true), so she should be called an “old fart!!”
*******We’re surprised the woman wasn’t canceled for wearing a fur hat!!!

Austin Butler’s Voice Coach Defends New Elvis Accent

Austin Butler’s voice coach said his new accent is here to stay after he was dragged for still sounding like Elvis Presley during his 2023 Golden Globes acceptance speech.  “What you saw in that Golden Globes speech, that’s him. It’s genuine, it’s not put on,”  Irene Bartlett said on ABC’s “Gold Coast” on Monday.  She added, “I feel sorry people are saying that, you know, it’s still acting [but] he’s actually taken [the voice of Presley] on board.”  Bartlett noted that she doesn’t know how long he may talk like Elvis, but that his accent could “be there forever.”  “Because of COVID shutdowns, he was working on it all the time and it’s difficult to switch off something you’ve spent so much focus [and] time on,” she said.  Butler, 31, previously said he put his life on “pause” for two years to prep for the role.  “Basically what I look for is what their natural singing voice is doing. I strip away all the effects someone is putting on, and I go, ‘What does this natural voice sound like?’ And what is working and what needs help in terms of enhancement, in terms of support, flexibility, stamina, all those things,” she said.  Butler took home a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his leading role in the Baz Luhrmann-directed biopic last week.
********And hey… who DOESN’T wanna sound like Elvis???
****That’s what got Clinton elected!! (Bill, not his fingernail-on-a-blackboard wife!!!)
*****Austin should say he got hit in the head by a brick and started talking like Elvis!!

Sex Toy Company Pokes Fun Of Prince Harry

A British sex-toy company took a shot at Prince Harry Saturday with a new billboard that said “Silence is golden” featuring a ball gag in reference to the Duke of Sussex revealing intimate details in his new memoir “Spare.”  “We have been — and still are — ardent supporters of Harry and Meghan’s journey, particularly the way they have voiced such important issues as racism, misogyny and bullying within the UK,” Johanna Rief, Lovehoney’s head of sexual empowerment, told Newsweek.  “However, we feel that Harry’s memoir has taken certain things — for example references to his ‘todger’ — a bit too far, falling under the category of ‘Too Much Information,’ so wanted to put out a playful response to this, in our own Lovehoney way.”  It’s not the first time the adult toy company was inspired by the royal family. In 2018, Lovehoney — which operates in the UK, US and Australia — created a line of exclusive products to commemorate the couple’s marriage.  “Lovehoney are long-term supporters of Prince Harry and … [have] even launched a commemorative ‘Royal Wedding Penis Ring’ to celebrate the pair’s marriage,” said Rief.  “We have also had a close connection to the royal family in the past, having twice been awarded the Queen’s Award — once in 2016 and again in 2021.”  See the billboard HERE.
********Hey… that Royal Penis Ring is kinda… small. Isn’t it???
*******Queen Elizabeth was a big customer!!
*******You would think a sex toy company would love it when Harry goes on about his penis. Especially when he used his mom’s favorite cream on it!! (Hello, Dr. Freud!!!??)

Kim Kardashian Owns Princess Diana Necklace

Kim Kardashian has added a famous diamond cross necklace once worn by Princess Diana to her collection.  Auction sources say she just snatched up the rare diamond-encrusted necklace Wednesday at a Sotheby’s auction. A Sotheby’s rep says the piece went for $197,453.   The necklace is known as the Attalah Cross, which she famously wore in 1987 at a London charity gala paired with a purple-tinged outfit, with the necklace hanging low down her torso. The Garrard jewelry company let Diana borrow the piece for the event.  The necklace has since come into the possession of the auction house, and now, it’s on its way to Kim … thanks to her winning bid.
********This is NOT making anyone like Kim any better!!!
*******Maybe this is her way of getting Harry and Meghan to come over and guest star in the reality show!!
*****Kim also inquired about buying Diana’s casket!!!

One Last Thing:  Bryan Cranston

The Emmy winner, 66, returns for season 2 of Showtime’s Your Honor.

Last perfect day off-

We have an apartment in New York, and we had people over on Thanksgiving morning and watched the parade from my balcony.  We had bagels, coffee and champagne.  It kicked-starts you into the holiday spirit.

Last time I was missing someone-

I called Dick Van Dyke to wish him happy birthday.  He’s 97.  I’ve worked with him a few times, and now I’m going to see him next week.  He’s a lovely a human being as I’ve met.

Last DIY project-

We had a clogged toilet.  My wife [RobinDearden] goes, “Something’s wrong.” And I get up and grab the plunger, and there I am.  I do what needs to be done.

Horse Goes To McDonald’s

A visitor to a McDonald’s fast food restaurant in Australia captured video of an unusual sight — a horse riding in the back seat of a drive-through customer’s car.  Donna Bevan posted a video to TikTok showing the surprising scene outside the eatery in New South Wales.  The video shows Bevan briefly converse with the driver of the car, who explains the horse is “excited for his ice cream.”  Bevan said in the post that it was an “only in Australia” encounter.  See the video HERE.
**********He ate like a horse!!!
******The horse wasn’t that big!! Just slightly smaller than Camilla!!!

Bear Takes A Winter Dip In Backyard Pool

A California woman captured video of a large bear that braved rainy weather to take a swim in her family’s backyard pool.  Donna Hargett captured video when she spotted an uninvited trespasser in her family’s Monrovia back yard on Saturday.  The video shows a large black bear swimming a few laps in the family’s pool.  Hargett recorded the moment the bear climbed out of the pool and shook off the water before wandering away from the area.  See the video HERE.
*******You don’t want to be the one who cleans out THAT filter!!

Life In The Fast Lane!

A bill allowing police to charge a bigger fine for people driving slow in the left lane of interstates and other multilane highways is one of the first to be taken up at the South Carolina Statehouse in 2023.  A Senate subcommittee Tuesday approved increasing the fine from $25 to up to $100 and giving most of the increased amount to the state Highway Patrol. The full Senate Transportation Committee is scheduled to take up the bill Wednesday.  Lawmakers passed the so-called “slowpoke” bill in 2021. Over roughly a year, state troopers wrote nearly 500 tickets. It requires drivers in the left lane to move over if a car comes up behind them and the right lane is clear.   The fine is not a criminal penalty and doesn’t get reported to a driving record.
*********It should be a death penalty crime!! (It IS in California!!)
FACTOID: Researchers say going too slow causes more accidents than going too fast!! We like that research!!

Alligator Found Abandoned

A three-foot-long alligator was recently found abandoned in a small town in New Jersey.   On Sunday, Jan. 15, the reptile was found in a plastic storage container that was left in an empty lot in Neptune, New Jersey, according to the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MCSPCA).  The MCSPCA was able to locate the hidden alligator after a “good Samaritan” by the name of Angel Rosario called law enforcement when he saw the abandoned container in the lot next to his home, the animal welfare organization wrote in a press release on Monday, Jan. 16.   MCSPCA officials were dispatched and found the container on Bangs Avenue, a street that’s located in the northeastern region of Neptune Township.  The alligator was found Sunday night in below-freezing temperatures, according to MCSPCA.  “It is illegal for New Jersey residents to keep alligators or caiman, which are considered potentially dangerous exotic species,” Ross Licitra, executive director of the Monmouth County SPCA, said in a statement.
**********You’re talkin’ Jersey?? It’s not safe out there for an alligator!!

Americans With Less Than $9,000 in Savings Should Do These 7 Things

The Penny Hoarder

  1. Stop Paying Your Credit Card Company

If you have credit card debt, you know. The anxiety, the interest rates, the fear you’re never going to escape…  And the truth is, your credit card company doesn’t really care. It’s just getting rich by ripping you off with high interest rates — some up to 36%. But a website called AmOne wants to help.

If you owe your credit card companies $50,000 or less, AmOne will match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every single one of your balances.  The benefit? You’ll be left with one bill to pay each month. And because personal loans have lower interest rates (AmOne rates start at 2.49% APR), you’ll get out of debt that much faster. Plus: No credit card payment this month.

You don’t need a perfect credit score to get a loan — and comparing your options won’t affect your score at all.  Plus, AmOne keeps your information confidential and secure, which is probably why after 20 years in business, it still has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.  It takes less than a minute and just 10 questions to see what loans you qualify for — you don’t even need to enter your Social Security number. You do need to give AmOne a real phone number in order to qualify, but don’t worry — they won’t spam you with phone calls.

  1. Play Bingo on Your Phone for Real Money — up to $83 Per Win

Do you play games on your phone just for fun? You should see if you can make money doing it, too.  A free iPhone app called Bingo Cash lets you play for real cash. Every win could pay you up to $83.  Bingo Cash is based on the classic Bingo format, where you’ll battle it out against other players at your same skill level. Everyone gets the same board and sees the same Bingo balls. The top three players in a game can win real money — anywhere from $1 to $83.

And no, there’s no catch. There are no ads, either. You can play for free or pay to play in higher-stakes tournaments. Download the free app and start playing your first game immediately. You could win money today!

  1. Add up to $526.44 to Your Wallet for Skipping the Grocery Store

Running errands is the worst. Seriously. After a long day of work, the last thing you want to do is go to the store and deal with the traffic and the crowds.  We get it. That’s why we like a free site called Rakuten — they’ll pay you to skip going to the store and shop online instead.

No, really. They work with just about every online store you probably shop at, and they can make sure you get some cash back every time you buy — up to 15% cash back. We talked to Denver resident Colleen Rice, who’s earned more than $526.44 in cash back since she started using Rakuten. For doing nothing. She just uses Rakuten for things she already has to buy, like rental cars and flights.  It takes less than a minute to open a Rakuten account and start shopping like you normally would. You just need an email address.  They’ll pay you with a check in the mail every few months or deposit it to your PayPal account. Talk about money for nothing.

  1. Get Paid Up to $140/Month Just for Sharing Your Honest Opinion

It sounds strange, but brands want to hear your opinion. It helps them make business decisions, so they’re willing to pay you for it — up to $140 a month. A free site called Branded Surveys will pay you up to $5 per survey for sharing your thoughts with their brand partners. Taking three quick surveys a day could earn up to $140 each month.

It takes just a minute to create a free account and start getting paid to speak your mind. Most surveys take five to 15 minutes, and you can check how long they’ll take ahead of time.  And you don’t need to build up tons of money to cash out, either — once you earn $5, you can cash out via PayPal, your bank account, a gift card or Amazon. You’ll get paid within 48 hours of your payout being processed, just for sharing your opinions.

They’ve already paid users more than $20 million since 2012, and the most active users can earn a few hundred dollars a month. Plus, they’ve got an “excellent” rating on Trustpilot. It takes just a minute to set up your account and start getting paid to take surveys. Plus, right now, you’ll get a free 100-point welcome bonus just for becoming part of the community. Now” button. It’s free.

  1. Cancel Your Car Insurance

Here’s the thing: your current car insurance company is probably overcharging you. But don’t waste your time hopping around to different insurance companies looking for a better deal.

Use a website called EverQuote to see all your options at once.

EverQuote is the largest online marketplace for insurance in the US, so you’ll get the top options from more than 175 different carriers handed right to you. Take a couple of minutes to answer some questions about yourself and your driving record. With this information, EverQuote will be able to give you the top recommendations for car insurance. In just a few minutes, you could save up to $610 a year.

  1. Let This App Pay You up to $83 When You Win Solitaire Games

Lots of us already play Solitaire on our phones for fun or just to pass the time. Want to see if you can win money at it?

There’s a free app called Solitaire Cash that pays you up to $83 every time you win. You might be thinking: There’s got to be a catch. This is definitely one of those spammy apps, right?

Wrong. There really isn’t a catch. And, in fact, there aren’t even any annoying ads. With each game, you’ll battle it out against at least five other players. Everyone gets the same deck, so winning is totally a matter of skill. The top three players who solve the deck fastest can win real money — anywhere from $1 to $83. Over on the App Store, it has over a million downloads and more than 15,000 ratings, averaging 4.7 stars (out of 5).

To get started, just download the free app and start playing your first game immediately.

  1. Get Free Stock

Here’s the thing about investing: The sooner you start, the better. And we found a company that will give you free stock to get started.

An investing app called Robinhood will give you free stock worth between $2.50 and $200 just for downloading its free app and funding your account.

Yeah, you’ve probably heard of Robinhood. Both investing beginners and pros love it because it doesn’t charge commission fees, and you can buy and sell stocks for free — no limits. Plus, it’s super easy to use.

Whether you’ve got $5, $100 or $800 to spare, it takes just a couple of minutes to sign up, fund your account and get your free stock — a nice boost to help you build your investments.

  1. Earn $300+/Month in Passive Income with Your Extra Space

If you’re like us, your garage probably isn’t doing much of anything at the moment. Maybe you have some tools in there, or maybe it’s home to your boxes of odds and ends, collecting dust.  But with a website called Neighbor, your extra space — whether it’s a spare room, an empty garage or a parking space — could be earning you an extra $300 a month in totally passive income.

Neighbor works by connecting people who need storage space with hosts who have the room to spare. The average host makes about $300 a month, but some people have earned up to $50,000 a year just by letting people park on their property.  It takes less than 10 minutes to get started. Just answer a few questions about your space, take some pictures and set your asking price. Neighbor will recommend a dollar amount based on your location and type of rental, but the final listing is up to you.

Neighbor even gives you up to $1 million in free protection as a host and offers protection plans for your renters, giving you both peace of mind.  Neighbor is an easy source of passive income, and it’s easier than most side hustles. It’s free to list your space, and you’ll only be charged a 4.9% processing fee from the profit you make each month, so there’s no risk to you.
