Songwriters Hall Of Fame Inductees
The Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced its 2023 inductees. Sade Adu, aka Sade, Glen Ballard, Calvin Broadus Jr., aka Snoop Dogg, Gloria Estefan, Jeff Lynne, Teddy Riley and Liz Rose will be inducted into the hall of fame this year. The induction ceremony and awards gala will take place June 15 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York. Additional special award honorees will be announced soon. “The music industry does not exist without songwriters delivering great songs first. Without them there is no recorded music, no concert business, no merch… nothing, it all starts with the song and the songwriter,” Songwriters Hall of Fame chairman Nile Rodgers said in a statement. The class of 2023 is credited with such songs as “Smooth Operator,” “Man in the Mirror,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “Rhythm is Gonna Get You,” “Mr. Blue Sky,” “My Prerogative” and “You Belong with Me.”

Whoopi Goldberg slammed an audience member of “The View” Wednesday after they heckled the always controversial host — by calling her an “old broad” on live television. All the hosts came out to take their seats to a “very happy” audience when one particularly enthusiastic member shouted at Whoopi. “Did you just call me an ‘old broad’? Yeah,” she snapped in response to the on-air critique. “She said, ‘You old broad,’ and I was like, ‘Hey, it’s Wednesday, and I am an old broad, and happy about it.’ “ The camera then cut to a woman in a large fur hat who nodded in acknowledgment. Austin Butler’s Voice Coach Defends New Elvis Accent
Austin Butler’s voice coach said his new accent is here to stay after he was dragged for still sounding like Elvis Presley during his 2023 Golden Globes acceptance speech. “What you saw in that Golden Globes speech, that’s him. It’s genuine, it’s not put on,” Irene Bartlett said on ABC’s “Gold Coast” on Monday. She added, “I feel sorry people are saying that, you know, it’s still acting [but] he’s actually taken [the voice of Presley] on board.” Bartlett noted that she doesn’t know how long he may talk like Elvis, but that his accent could “be there forever.” “Because of COVID shutdowns, he was working on it all the time and it’s difficult to switch off something you’ve spent so much focus [and] time on,” she said. Butler, 31, previously said he put his life on “pause” for two years to prep for the role. “Basically what I look for is what their natural singing voice is doing. I strip away all the effects someone is putting on, and I go, ‘What does this natural voice sound like?’ And what is working and what needs help in terms of enhancement, in terms of support, flexibility, stamina, all those things,” she said. Butler took home a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his leading role in the Baz Luhrmann-directed biopic last week.

A British sex-toy company took a shot at Prince Harry Saturday with a new billboard that said “Silence is golden” featuring a ball gag in reference to the Duke of Sussex revealing intimate details in his new memoir “Spare.” “We have been — and still are — ardent supporters of Harry and Meghan’s journey, particularly the way they have voiced such important issues as racism, misogyny and bullying within the UK,” Johanna Rief, Lovehoney’s head of sexual empowerment, told Newsweek. “However, we feel that Harry’s memoir has taken certain things — for example references to his ‘todger’ — a bit too far, falling under the category of ‘Too Much Information,’ so wanted to put out a playful response to this, in our own Lovehoney way.” It’s not the first time the adult toy company was inspired by the royal family. Kim Kardashian has added a famous diamond cross necklace once worn by Princess Diana to her collection. Auction sources say she just snatched up the rare diamond-encrusted necklace Wednesday at a Sotheby’s auction. A Sotheby’s rep says the piece went for $197,453. The necklace is known as the Attalah Cross, which she famously wore in 1987 at a London charity gala paired with a purple-tinged outfit, with the necklace hanging low down her torso. The Garrard jewelry company let Diana borrow the piece for the event. The necklace has since come into the possession of the auction house, and now, it’s on its way to Kim … thanks to her winning bid.

Horse Goes To McDonald’s
A visitor to a McDonald’s fast food restaurant in Australia captured video of an unusual sight — a horse riding in the back seat of a drive-through customer’s car. Donna Bevan posted a video to TikTok showing the surprising scene outside the eatery in New South Wales. The video shows Bevan briefly converse with the driver of the car, who explains the horse is “excited for his ice cream.” Bevan said in the post that it was an “only in Australia” encounter. Bear Takes A Winter Dip In Backyard Pool
A California woman captured video of a large bear that braved rainy weather to take a swim in her family’s backyard pool. Donna Hargett captured video when she spotted an uninvited trespasser in her family’s Monrovia back yard on Saturday. The video shows a large black bear swimming a few laps in the family’s pool. Hargett recorded the moment the bear climbed out of the pool and shook off the water before wandering away from the area. See the video HERE.

Life In The Fast Lane!
A bill allowing police to charge a bigger fine for people driving slow in the left lane of interstates and other multilane highways is one of the first to be taken up at the South Carolina Statehouse in 2023. A Senate subcommittee Tuesday approved increasing the fine from $25 to up to $100 and giving most of the increased amount to the state Highway Patrol. The full Senate Transportation Committee is scheduled to take up the bill Wednesday. Lawmakers passed the so-called “slowpoke” bill in 2021. Over roughly a year, state troopers wrote nearly 500 tickets. It requires drivers in the left lane to move over if a car comes up behind them and the right lane is clear. The fine is not a criminal penalty and doesn’t get reported to a driving record.

Alligator Found Abandoned
A three-foot-long alligator was recently found abandoned in a small town in New Jersey. On Sunday, Jan. 15, the reptile was found in a plastic storage container that was left in an empty lot in Neptune, New Jersey, according to the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MCSPCA). The MCSPCA was able to locate the hidden alligator after a “good Samaritan” by the name of Angel Rosario called law enforcement when he saw the abandoned container in the lot next to his home, the animal welfare organization wrote in a press release on Monday, Jan. 16. MCSPCA officials were dispatched and found the container on Bangs Avenue, a street that’s located in the northeastern region of Neptune Township. The alligator was found Sunday night in below-freezing temperatures, according to MCSPCA. “It is illegal for New Jersey residents to keep alligators or caiman, which are considered potentially dangerous exotic species,” Ross Licitra, executive director of the Monmouth County SPCA, said in a statement.
