Cardi B Paying For Funerals Of Fire Victims

Cardi B will be partnering with NYC Mayor Eric Adams and the Mayor’s Fund to Advance NYC to cover the burial costs of those lost in the Bronx fire, which killed 19 people.  Cardi, a Bronx native, vowed to cover the expenses of the funerals to ease any financial burden faced by the families, according to the Wednesday announcement by the mayor’s office.  “The resilience of this city reflects everyday New Yorkers who never turn their back on one another,” Mayor Adams said in a statement. “We are grateful for Cardi B, a real superstar on and off the mic, for granting some critical financial relief to families of the victims.”  He continued on, saying the city will be “forever thankful” for her contributions. Cardi, “in true New York fashion,” quickly sprung into action, added co-executive directors of the Mayor’s Fund, Daniele Baierlein and Jorge Luis Paniagua Valle.  “I’m extremely proud to be from the Bronx and I have lots of family and friends who live and work there still. So, when I heard about the fire and all of the victims, I knew I needed to do something to help,” said Cardi B, adding that she “cannot being to imagine the pain and anguish” the families are in.

Wayne’s World Car Up For Auction

The 1976 AMC Pacer featured in the 1992 comedy Wayne’s World is being auctioned just in time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film’s premiere on Valentine’s Day.  The custom baby blue hatchback was previously owned and restored by “Pawn Stars” star Rick Harrison and appears exactly as it did on screen, including its flame graphics, mismatched wheels, dashboard-mounted fountain drink cup dispenser and ceiling-mounted licorice dispenser.  The car will be crossing the block at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, Ariz., auction on January 26 without a reserve price. The current owner bought it from Harrison at Barrett-Jackson’s 2016 Las Vegas auction for $37,400, or about double what a perfectly restored original is typically worth.
********If you wanna get high, lick the steering wheel!!!
*******If you’re old enough to remember the Pacer when it first came out, you’ll know: don’t make any sudden stops!! If you’re hit from behind, the gas tank explodes!!
*******Does it include a cassette of Bohemian Rhapsody???

Keanu Reeves Gives To Others

Keanu Reeves is one of the most generous actors out there.  A family friend recently told The New York Post that he is “somewhat embarrassed” about how much money he has. However, Reeves has made efforts to share his good fortune.  “Keanu’s given away a lot of money and done a lot more for people than most will ever know,” a family friend told The Post. “He knows how lucky he is. Unlike many Hollywood mega stars, he never takes any of this for granted.”   Some say the actor is charitable after suffering many hardships in life.   Reeves grew up with an absent father who served time in prison for possession of drugs. He lost his best friend River Phoenix, who died of a drug overdose, in 1993. Reeves and former girlfriend Jennifer Syme lost their daughter Ava, who was stillborn, in 1999. The couple split but reunited in 2001. Syme suffered from depression and died after driving her Jeep into a line of parked cars while intoxicated. Reeves’ sister Kim was diagnosed with leukemia in 1991. The actor donated millions of dollars to cancer charities and even auctioned a date with himself. His sister, who went into remission in 2010, described her brother as her “prince” to People.
*********Good example to others!!
*****Most of our charitable donations go to our kids!!! Used clothing and that kind of stuff!!!

Prince Andrew Deletes Twitter Account

Prince Andrew quietly deleted his Twitter account just one week after he was stripped of his military affiliations and royal patronages.  Social media users visiting his official Twitter page @thedukeofyork on Wednesday were greeted with the message: “This account doesn’t exist – Try searching for another.”  Andrew’s Instagram account @hrhthedukeyork still has 219K followers but has gone private. His Facebook page, still active, hasn’t been updated since Nov. 2019 when he stepped back from public duties. And as for his page on the royal family’s website, where he was originally listed as a patron or member of around 100 charities and organizations, it simply had tweet from Buckingham Palace stating he will defend his case as a private citizen.
*********You can still send him a letter to “Servants’ Quarters, Buckingham Palace!!”

Bono Is His Own Critic

Singer Bono has been a part of U2 for 46 years, writing and singing many of the group’s hit singles.  But it turns out he feels shame for some of the songs, as the Dublin native revealed in an interview on the Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast alongside bandmate the Edge.  “I’ve been in the car when one of our songs has come on the radio and I’ve been the color of, as we say in Dublin, scarlet,” he said. “I’m just so embarrassed.”  He continued: “The one that I can listen to the most is ‘Miss Sarajevo’ with Luciano Pavarotti. Genuine, most of the other ones make me cringe a little bit,” adding that the tune he “probably” is “proudest” of is “Vertigo.”  Songwriting wasn’t the only thing he dissed. Regarding the name U2, Bono wasn’t particularly fond of it in the beginning. It was their first manager, Paul McGuinness, who got them to keep the name by telling them it was “great” and would “look good on a T-shirt — a letter and a number.”  And Bono apparently still harbors an aversion to it.  “I didn’t realize that The Beatles was a bad pun, either,” he said. “In our head, it was like the spy plane, U-boat. It was futuristic … It turned out to imply this kind of acquiescence — no, I don’t like that name. I still don’t really like the name.”  Bono is also the biggest critic of his own voice.  “I only became a singer, like, recently. Maybe it hasn’t happened yet for some people’s ears and I understand that,” he said.
********Time to drop the fake humility, dude!!
*******Maybe he should listen Ozzy Osbourne for awhile. It might make him feel better about his own voice!!
****JOHN LENNON was another rock star who called his early Beatles stuff “rubbish.” Which makes you think, “then why did we spend $billions of dollars on it??”

Britney Spears Takes Legal Action On Her Family

Britney Spears and her attorney Mathew Rosengart have taken legal action against her father Jamie and sister Jamie Lynn as the court battle regarding her 13-year conservatorship drudges on.  Fox News obtained a cease-and-desist letter that Rosengart sent Jamie Lynn on Monday, telling her to “cease and desist from referencing Britney derogatorily during your promotional campaign. If you fail to do so or defame her, Britney will be forced to consider and take all appropriate legal action.” Jamie Lynn is promoting her upcoming book, “Things I Should Have Said.”  “We write with hesitation because the last thing Britney wants is to bring more attention to your ill-timed book and its misleading or outrageous claims about her,” the letter continues.  Rosengart added that his client has no intention to read the book but is shocked that Jamie Lynn has “exploited her for monetary gain.”  “She will not tolerate it, nor should she,” the attorney stated.  Additionally, citing court docs, TMZ reports that Britney Spears is requesting that millions of dollars that her father made during the conservatorship be returned to her – the docs allege that Jamie made $6 million over the course of the legal guardianship.  The docs reportedly also allege Jamie “engaged in self-dealing, financial and business mismanagement … engaged in abusive and bullying conduct toward his daughter, [and] deprived his daughter of fundamental civil liberties …” per the outlet.  Part of the $6 million that Jamie earned was used to pitch a television show called “Cookin’ Cruzin’ & Chaos,” the docs state, per the outlet.
*********If Britney didn’t read the book, how does she know what’s in it??
********Every girl should be able to get a cease-and-desist order against her little sister!!

You Can Buy Your Own Ferry

A former Staten Island Ferry boat is up for auction at a reduced price after being retired in the summer because of mechanical issues.  The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services listed the boat, the John F. Kennedy, on auction website Public Surplus after it failed to sell for the asking price of $250,000.  The auction started at the reduced price of $125,000.  The John F. Kennedy spent about 50 years in service, shuttling commuters between Staten Island and Manhattan. It was retired from service in August.  The auction listing states the boat, which is currently inoperable due to “mechanical issues,” is being sold “as is” and “where is.”

Spider-Man Comic Breaks Record

An auction house said a Marvel Comics page featuring the first appearance of Spider-Man’s iconic black costume sold for a record-breaking $3.36 million.  Heritage Auctions said the original artwork by Mike Zeck, which became page 25 of Secret Wars No. 8 in 1984, is now the world’s most valuable page of original comic book artwork after being auctioned for $3.36 million.  The page featured the first appearance of Spider-Man’s black costume, an alien symbiote who went on to form half of the villain — and sometimes anti-hero — Venom.  “We could not be happier, especially for our consignor, who bought the art in the late 1980s and treasured these pages ever since,” Joe Mannarino, Heritage Auctions’ New York Director of Comics & Comic Art, said in a news release.  Heritage said Spider-Man already was the star of the most expensive comic book ever sold, after a copy of Amazing Fantasy No. 15, the web-slinging hero’s first appearance, sold for $3.6 million in 2021.

Man Served Hand Sanitizer To Drink

Cracker Barrel has been ordered to pay $4.3 million to a man who was served sanitizer instead of water at a location in Tennessee in 2014.  “He has a lifetime of healthcare needs facing him in the future,” attorney Thomas Greer said.  William Cronnon was expecting a glass of water when he went to Cracker Barrel years ago, but instead he got a long court battle.  “Instead of taking personal responsibility and personal accountability for their conduct, they abused the court system by denying that they did anything wrong,” Greer said.  The lawsuit awarded Cronnon $4.3 million to help with the damage that remains in his throat and lungs.  “It was a relief to him because he knew he was believed,” Greer said.  Cronnon will not receive anything close to that amount, though. “This is an unfair law that only affects people who are seriously injured, and he will not even receive what he is entitled to,” Greer said.  Tennessee lawmakers created a cap on non-economic damages in lawsuits in 2011.  It limits Cronnon to $750,000, even though he has extensive physical problems.

6 Morning Habits That’ll Make You Feel Like You Have Your Life Together

HUFFINGTON POST

  1. Use an alarm clock.

My 6-year-old gets up at 5:45 a.m. pretty much without fail, so this one is a moot point for me. But if you’re someone who relies on an alarm to wake up, opt for an old-school clock, not your phone.

It takes a very strong person to use their phone as an alarm and not at least peek at their emails, snoozed notifications or the news. Which means you’re starting your day off by letting someone else dictate what’s on your mind first thing. Already, your day feels out of your own control.

“If we wake up and we check our phone and there’s an email from our boss that says ‘We need to talk’ or there’s an email from a client who’s like ‘Hey, can I call you later?’ we can go straight from our slumber into panic mode, where your heart is racing,” said Susie Moore, a life coach and author of “Let It Be Easy: Simple Ways To Stop Stressing And Start Living.”

Once you’re in that mode, it’s difficult to kick back into a more relaxed state or come back to a more “contemplative, intentional state,” she added.

  1. Do a 30-second gratitude practice.

Gratitude as an overall wellness practice is backed by a lot of science, but I myself am daunted by the prospect of keeping a gratitude journal — or anything that feels like a remotely heavy lift. (Though if you already do this, well done you, and carry on!)

Fortunately, an a.m. gratitude practice can be incredibly short and sweet.

As you lay in bed, tell yourself: “I’m here. I have the blessing of a bed. I have the blessing of sleep. I’m in shelter. I’m going to hopefully have breakfast,” Moore said. “You can wake up and be aware of what you already have — and be present.”

It won’t change the fact that you might have a stressful day ahead of you, but it will help root you in the bigger picture.

  1. Set a daily intention.

Your intention doesn’t have to be big, and you can really focus it on what’s right ahead of you. Debra Swan, a Chicago-based health coach who works with clients around the country, recommended thinking about one to three things that you want to accomplish today and that, crucially, you “can realistically get done.” She suggested writing them down so you aren’t holding them in your head.

There will be, of course, days when your to-do list is so much longer than one to three manageable tasks, but prioritizing your intentions in this way can help you cope with the stress. When you knock your highest-priority goals off your list, you’ll feel at least some sense of accomplishment and calm.

Another way to think about intentions is to set a goal for how you’d like to feel throughout the day, or how you’d like to behave. Try it out and see what works best for you.

  1. Drink a glass of water.

Having a glass of water first thing in the morning is one of those incredibly simple habits that has an immediate payoff. It hydrates you, obviously, which helps keep your body in balance. But it can also give you a teeny sense of accomplishment, and in that way, it can be a gateway to other healthy a.m. habits.

“If you don’t have a routine yet, start small and simple so you can be successful,” Swan said. “For example, first get in the habit of drinking a glass of water. Do that for a couple of weeks, then try adding some stretching, etc.”

  1. Listen to something that makes you feel the way you want to feel.

If you’d like to feel more relaxed, listen to a quick guided meditation while you’re brushing your teeth or opt for a calming song. (Moore personally likes Bach and Mozart.) If you’d like to feel energized, put on your favorite upbeat dance song. Figure out what it is you’re looking to feel more of in the a.m. and then put on something that helps you get there.

“Use that time that you spend getting ready or feeding everybody or whatever your have-to-do things in the morning include and give it some background ambiance that’s really going to set you up to feel good,” Moore said.

  1. Move your body.

Exercise releases endorphins, which can be a great stress reliever. And you really can keep it super short and sweet.

“This is individual to the person,” Swan said. “Some may start their day with a 5K run, a gym weightlifting session, a 30-minute yoga video, a brisk dog walk, or just a few minutes of gentle stretching.”

Find something that works for your mornings rather than something you’ll never get to and then feel bad about. I don’t have time to work out on weekday mornings because I refuse to get up before 5:30 to make it happen. But I have begun making an effort to have a three-minute dance party with my kids when we get up, alternating who gets to pick the song.

It’s not a game-changer. I do not feel like I’ve got my shit perfectly together, but it’s a nice break. And it reminds me how lucky I am to have these chaotic mornings in the first place.
