Kim K Addresses Kanye’s Health

Kim Kardashian is asking for “compassion and empathy” for her husband, rapper and fashion designer Kanye West, amid his struggle with bipolar disorder.  She addressed West’s struggle with the mental disorder, which can cause extreme and unusual mood shifts, Wednesday on Instagram Stories in response to “stigma and misconceptions about mental health.”  Kardashian said West’s struggle with bipolar disorder has been “incredibly complicated and painful” for his loved ones to understand. She said she kept quiet about West’s struggle until now out of respect for the rapper’s privacy and a desire to protect their children.  “But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health,” Kardashian said.  Kardashian said her family and friends are largely “powerless” to intervene or force West to get help because he is an adult.  “People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try,” she said.

The Crown Delayed On Netflix

The Crown” won’t return to Netflix until 2022 due to a production break.  Left Bank Pictures, the company that produces “The Crown,” plans to resume filming for Season 5 in June 2021, Deadline reported.  The delay in filming, however, is reportedly not related to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Sources told the outlet that the show usually takes extended breaks during filming.  There was a two-year gap between the release of Seasons 2 and 3. Season 4 was released on Netflix in 2019.  Because Season 5 isn’t beginning filming until next year, the sixth and final season won’t film until 2022, according to the outlet.  The latest revelation comes after the writer and creator of the show announced that “The Crown” would have a Season 6 after it was previously announced that Season 5 would be the show’s last.  “As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons,” the show’s writer and creator Peter Morgan said in a statement.

Jeff Lowe Under Fire From the USDA

Jeff Lowe, who appeared in Netflix’s popular documentary series “Tiger King,” is claiming federal agents are out to get him after a recent investigation of his Oklahoma zoo.  The zoo, which was previously owned by Joe Exotic, was faulted for multiple alleged veterinary lapses and other issues related to the care of the exotic animals housed there. A U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) document dated June 22 found evidence of improper care for lions, tigers, bears and wolves being housed at the zoo.  Speaking to TMZ, however, Lowe claims that the USDA’s findings are both misleading and unfair to him. He notes that many of the animals that make their way to the GW Exotic Animal Park are “at the end of their lives and suffer from arthritis and do lose some weight toward the end of their days.”  He told the outlet that he believes the USDA is out to get him amid heightened attention to the zoo brought on by the popularity of Netflix’s “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.”  In addition to the care issues, inspectors allegedly found two deceased, unburied big cats on the property, according to the document.  “There is a large pile of primarily wood debris in the back of the park,” the report reads. “The licensee stated that it contains a partially burned Tigon carcass said to be named Young Yi and a black tarp covering a deceased tiger by the named of Dot. There is a foul odor of decomposing flesh and many flies are present on the boards and surrounding areas.   “The unburied carcasses were attracting flies, and those flies contributed to a condition called flystrike afflicting several animals, the inspectors found.

Jennifer Lopez Stranded In The Hamptons

Jennifer Lopez was all set for a beach day in the Hamptons this week when she was left stranded after her mode of transportation was towed away, TMZ reports.  She and her group reportedly arrived on dune buggies Tuesday and parked in a lot by the beach without the proper permits.  Cops were called to the scene, an eyewitness told TMZ, and the three dune buggies were towed.  She was photographed in a white one-piece swimsuit, jean shorts and a face mask as she made a phone call to get picked up.  Soon after, a friend driving Lopez’s fiancé Alex Rodriguez’s blue Bronco saved the day and picked up the stranded group.

Johnny Depp Threw Booze Bottles Like Hand Grenades

Amber Heard claimed that Johnny Depp hurled about 30 bottles at her “like grenades” during what she has referred to as a “three-day hostage situation,” a British court heard Wednesday.  She detailed the altercation on her then-husband’s work trip to Australia in March 2015, just a month into their marriage, during testimony at Depp’s explosive libel trial against The Sun.  “We were in an argument about whether he was going to drink the liquor,” she told the court in London.  Heard said that she snatched the bottle from his hand and smashed it on the floor between them.  “I regret I did that. I was so upset, but I think it snapped something in him,” she said, according to the Evening Standard.  Depp began grabbing the other bottles and throwing them in her direction, Heard said.  “He started picking them up one by one and throwing them like grenades,” Heard testified.  “One after the other after the other, in my direction, and I felt glass breaking behind me. I retreated more into the bar and he didn’t stop.”  Responding to Depp’s lawyers disputing her version of events, Heard fired back, “I would be shocked if Johnny remembers any of this himself, but I was there.”

Gavin Gushin’ About Lost Love Gwen!-(National Enquirer)

Lovelorn Gavin Rossdale seems to be pining over ex-wife Gwen Stefani-five years after their split-admitting, “I still think she’s incredible.”  The No Doubt frontwoman, 50, filed for divorce from the Bush rocker, 54, in 2015 after nearly 13 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.  Their bitter bust-up occurred amid rumors about Gavin’s alleged affair with a nanny to their sons-Kingston, 14, Zuma, 11, and Apollo, 6.  But the British musician recently told the U.K. paper The Guardian that “the gross and lopsided spectre of the crumbling of my marriage” was his most embarrassing moment.  “We had 20 years together and that in itself is pretty incredible…..It was a lovely 20 years and we have three amazing children.  There were a lot of positives, and with time they’ll become more and more obvious,” he gushed about his ex, who’s since moved on with 44-year-old country star Blake Shelton.

Anne Follows Boss’ Orders!-(Globe)

Anne Hathaway may be an A-list star, but she literally stands to attention for certain demanding directors, namely her Interstellar boss Christopher Nolan.  “Chris also doesn’t allow chairs,” reveals the beauty, who also played Catwoman in the famed filmmaker’s Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises.  “I worked with him twice.  He doesn’t allow chairs, and his reasoning is, ‘If you have chairs, people will sit, and if they’re sitting, they’re not working,’” she explains.  Some, however, are not taking the tyrannical edict sitting down.  “It’s the same crap grocery stores pull on their cashiers-no reason people can’t be comfortable and hardworking,” snaps a fan online.

The Smiths:  Cards On the Table-(Us Weekly)

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Sith are sticking together through thick and thin.  Days after singer August Alsina claimed he’d had an affair with the actress in 2015, the couple (since 1997) candidly confirmed the rumors in a Red Table Talk episode on July 10, while also revealing that they’d briefly split during that time.  “I wasn’t sure I was ever going to speak to you again,” the actor, 51, told his wife, adding that marriage “ain’t for the weak at heart.”  Now a source says that Will and Jada, 48, “are really glad” they addressed the incident and can put it behind them.  “They’re like a normal couple,” adds the source.  “What hasn’t changed is the love that they have for each other.

Zayn & Gigi:  Getting Ready For Baby!-(Star)

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are excitedly awaiting the arrival of their first child together this September.  Until then, however, the model, 25, and former One Direction singer, 27, are enjoying their downtime before becoming a family of three.  “Gigi and Zayn have spent most of her pregnancy nesting at [her mother] Yolanda Hadid’s Pennsylvania farm,” a source says.  “Gigi’s being doted on by her family, including her sister [Bella Hadid], and spending time outdoors.”  When the pair do welcome their bundle of joy, they plan to make New York City their home base.  In fact, the model recently purchased a duplex next door to her current apartment in the Noho neighborhood, with plans to combine the two.  “The apartments themselves cost over $10 million, and Gigi and Zayn are putting even more work into them,” adds the confidant.  “It’ll be the perfect private hideaway.”

Christina Calls It Quits-(Life & Style)

Now and then!  Christina Ricci filed for divorce from husband James Heerdegen on July 2 after being granted an emergency protective order against the producer.  The cops were previously called to their LA home on June 25 in response to a domestic battery call, although no arrests were made.  “Christina has had enough.  She told friends that James didn’t respect her and treated her badly,” spills a source close to the 40-year-old actress, who is requesting sole legal and physical custody of the duo’s son Freddie, 5.  “She knows that he might go after her in court, but she’s prepared for a fight.”

One Last Thing:  Dakota Fanning-(People)

The actress, 26 stars in the second season of the TNT series The Alienist:  Angel of Darkness.

Last thing I discovered about myself-

I have an affinity for watercolor.  I found all of this art stuff in the cabinet from when my sister [Elle] and I were younger.  I’m actually not too bad at it.

Last wardrobe malfunction-

I had a zipper break on a dress before [a red carpet].  I looked back at my stylist and said, “are we going to be able to fix it?”  And he was like, “No.”

Last moment of bliss-

We had a little scare with our dog Llwellen.  She’s older and was in the hospital, but I’m looking at her right now in the yard doing her thing.  Anytime she’s happy and healthy, I’m blissful.

Missing Cat Found 10 Years Later

A Utah animal shelter said a cat that went missing 10 years ago was reunited with her owner after being brought in as a stray.  The Tooele City Animal Shelter said a stray cat was recently brought into the shelter by a person who said they had been feeding the stray feline, but they were preparing to move and were concerned about leaving the cat without a consistent source of food.  The shelter scanned the cat for a microchip and found the contact information for a man who identified the cat as Mocha, his daughter’s cat. The man said Mocha had gone missing from the family’s home 10 years earlier, when his daughter was a teenager.  The man’s daughter, now an adult, came into the shelter and was reunited with her long-lost pet.  The shelter said the story should serve as a reminder of how important it is to bring stray animals in to be scanned for microchips.

Lemonade Stand Bailout

A drink mix company is offering a “bailout” for entrepreneurs in a seasonal industry hard-hit by the coronavirus pandemic: the lemonade stand.  Country Time announced the “Littlest Bailout” program will distribute $100 checks to kids under the age of 14 whose lemonade stand plans were foiled by the COVID-19 crisis.  “We know this will be a rough summer for lemonade stands. And if the big guys are getting bailed out, why shouldn’t we help the littlest entrepreneurs get the same treatment?” Country Time said on the program’s website.  Would-be lemonade stand entrepreneurs are being asked to submit an essay about how they would spend their bailout money along with a photo of the sign they would have used for their abortive stands.  Applications for the bailout checks are being accepted through Aug. 14.  See the video HERE.

Inflatable Swan Rescued In NYC

Firefighters in New York came to the rescue of two people when their inflatable swan float was carried away by a fast-moving current and ended up in the path of marine traffic.  The New York City Fire Department said officials received a report of multiple people in the water near East 55th Street in Manhattan and an FDNY marine unit arrived to find two people in a swan float had been swept away by the swift current.  The inflatable swan and its passengers had ended up in the path of marine traffic, the FDNY said.  The people were safely rescued and were examined by EMS personnel. They did not require any further medical attention.  “FDNY urges New Yorkers to always take precautions when swimming or entering the water surrounding our city,” the FDNY said. “Only enter the water where swimming is permitted and where lifeguards are on duty.”

Stolen Pig Statue Returned

The owners of an Oklahoma restaurant said a 300-pound pig statue stolen from outside the eatery has returned weeks later — albeit missing an ear.  Wayne Perotka, co-owner of Guyutes Restaurant in Oklahoma City, said workers returned to the eatery after the Fourth of July and discovered the pig statue, affectionately known as Jezebel, was missing.  “I’m guessing it was a few people or they probably had a forklift because she’s around 300 pounds, she’s solid concrete,” Perotka told KFOR-TV.  The restaurant put out a public plea for the pig’s return, and an anonymous tip last week led to the pig being dropped off across the street from the eatery. Jezebel is missing an ear, but is otherwise intact, the restaurant said on Facebook.  “We’re not pressing any charges or anything like that — we just want our pig back,” Perotka said.

What You Should Know About Going To The Beach This Summer

Huffington Post

Consider The Location

Public health experts continue to advise against nonessential travel, as the threat of coronavirus has hardly disappeared. So if you want to go to the beach, it’s best to keep it local. Deciding whether to make the drive to your local beach should depend on the COVID-19 situation in your community and the number of people flocking to the shore.

“Understanding local risk is important,” Fusaro said. “There are many states where beaches are crowded with people from all over the country, or where infection rates are rapidly accelerating. These would be beaches to avoid.”

Everyone plays a part in protecting the heath of their communities, and this applies to beaches as well.

“How the beaches of our COVID-19 summer will look depends largely on the public’s perception of how safe the beach is, and, of course, their commitment to keeping the beach ― and each other ― safe,” said travel host Anthony Melchiorri. “It’s a new kind of social contract that really requires willing compliance from everyone.”

Assess Your Personal Risk

As with other activities outside the home, your own health status should be a major factor in deciding whether to go to the beach. Consider how likely it is that you or those in your household would require hospitalization if exposed to the coronavirus.

“You should understand your personal risk factors if you become infected and the risk factors of people you interact with regularly,” Fusaro noted. “This could include family members or co-workers with asthma, obesity or those who are over the age of 50. With each of these decisions, it is important to consider personal and societal responsibility.”

Keep Your Distance

“Many beaches that are fairly wide and offer ample room are naturally set up for socially distancing practices,” said budget travel expert Lindsay Myers. “This makes the beach an enticing place to stay safe and enjoy being outdoors. There is enough room on the beach for a family to sit, lay out and enjoy without coming into direct contact with other beach dwellers.”

If you decide to go to the beach, limit your group to the people you already interact with on a daily basis, and try to keep your distance from others. Try to go at a less busy time of day or to a less crowded area.

“Based on what we know today about the transmission of the virus in the air between people, any close contact carries some level of risk,” Fusaro explained. “So the guidelines for keeping yourself safe at the beach are the same as other public places, including maintaining at least 6 feet of distance ― ideally more ― from anyone not in your isolation group. This includes when you’re in the water!”

She also suggested beachgoers avoid sitting directly downwind from other groups because evidence suggests moving air can carry virus-laden droplets.

“I see people staying farther away from others while on the beach. People are going to walk those extra few minutes to be a bit more secluded,” Myers said.

“I think most people will self-enforce the 6-foot rule, and hotels and resorts will definitely be ensuring that guests are not comingling,” said Frank Cavella, the director of sales and marketing at the Conrad Fort Lauderdale in Florida. “At our beach, we are setting up chairs with at least 6 feet in between (from other groups of guests).”

It’s best to avoid closely confined areas, like public bathrooms and eateries, or at least keep your distance as much as possible in those spaces. And as always, wash or sanitize your hands frequently.

Wear A Mask

Face masks play a significant role in curbing the transmission of the coronavirus, so it’s important to wear one in places where you can’t maintain at least 6 feet of distance from people outside your group.

There are already mask mandates in place at some beaches, at least in areas with shops and restaurants.

“Visitors will also be required to wear a face-covering while walking to and from their vehicle, at snack bars and restrooms,” said Kathryn Farrington, vice president of marketing at Rhode Island’s Discover Newport.

“We are encouraging masks, although it’s not a requirement if sunbathing or exercising on the beach,” Cavella said.

Bring Your Own Food

The number of people who can dine at beachside restaurants will likely be restricted, and many people may feel safer avoiding those spaces.

“Bring your own snacks and drinks,” Fusaro advised. “And even take all your own toys, chairs and supplies, if possible.”

Farrington noted that Newport will be imposing restrictions on beachgoers

“If you use the picnic tables, you are asked to use your own wipes to wipe down the tables before use and to bring your own table covering to be mindful of those around you,” she said. “Also at Second Beach, you must ‘carry in and carry out’ your own trash.”

Pay Attention To Capacity Limits

Some beaches are imposing capacity limits as a way to prevent crowding and enforce social distancing.

“Our most popular public beaches are open in Newport and Middletown while other, smaller beaches are limiting access to only residents and, again, with a limited capacity,” Farrington noted for example. She added that beach parking lots have strict hours and have reduced the number of cars permitted to 33% capacity for now.

Some beaches have explored using reservation systems. Travel host Samantha Brown said she applauds this idea.

“A reservation tells me I can come,” she explained. “If a beach is on a first-come, first-served basis, we don’t need the disappointment of arriving at the beach with my kids only to be told it’s full. If no reservations are available, I would most likely choose to do something else. I see a lot of playing with the hose at home in my future for this summer!”

It may be difficult to enforce reservations or capacity limits at certain beaches, but those are likely the ones where such restrictions may not be necessary.

“In the Caribbean, we have so much beach in relation to the number of people using them, so that ratio means people will never overpopulate the beach,” said Rich Cortese, Aimbridge Hospitality senior vice president of development and operations for Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico.

Compare Your Options

It’s important to assess the risk factors of your options when choosing a beach to visit.

“Private beaches or state park beaches with significantly fewer people could be much safer,” Fusaro said.

Myers echoed that, noting private beaches are better able to control numbers than many public beaches. Still, that doesn’t mean private beaches at resorts, for instance, are inherently safer than public sites.

“It will be important to know how that resort is implementing the rules so that their guests have fun but can also stay safe,” Brown said. “No two beaches will be alike, even in the same state. After all, there are city beaches, state beaches, even beaches at national parks. Each category of beach has its own rules, so it’s imperative to check their websites for the most up-to-date restrictions.”

It may also be helpful to read recent reviews or social media posts for different locations to get a sense of safety.

Practice General Beach Safety

“I would be remiss if I didn’t at least mention that all the beach risks that existed before COVID-19 are still present now,” Fusaro said. “Don’t get so caught up with protecting yourself against coronavirus that you overlook general water and sun safety.”

Avoidable injuries or illnesses are not ideal in the age of the pandemic, as unnecessary hospital visits can increase your chance of exposure to the virus.

Take A Test

If you believe you may have been exposed to the coronavirus, it’s important to get tested. Fortunately, COVID-19 testing is becoming more widely available.

“Some people are asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic, so it’s important to isolate people who test positive to reduce the spread, even if they don’t have symptoms,” Fusaro noted. “Once you have been out in a group setting or around lots of people, consider getting a COVID-19 test three to seven days later, just to make sure you have not contracted the virus and are asymptomatic. This is an easy way to protect those you love, finding out early if you should isolate yourself.”

Ultimately, it’s up to everyone to do their part to keep beaches as safe as possible for visitors.

“If we all stay safe and follow regulations, we can all enjoy the beaches for the summer,” Myers said. “The beach always brings some fun with family and friends. We are all in this together, and let’s bring some summer fun back in our lives. We can all be a collective unit and have some fun at the beach.”
