Beavis And Butt-Head Coming Back

Comedy Central announced on Wednesday that classic MTV animated series Beavis and Butt-Head will return with creator Mike Judge once again at the helm.  Beavis and Butt-Head has received a two-season order at the network, which also has plans for spinoffs and specials.  Judge will be writing and producing the series along with voicing the titular characters. The revival will tackle Gen Z after the original series dealt with Gen X.  “It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again,” Judge said in a statement.  Beavis and Butt-Head ran for seven seasons on MTV from 1993 to 1997. The show was revived in 2011 for one season and a film, titled Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, was released in 1996.

Harvey Weinstein Settles With Accusers

A group of nine women who accused former film producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct and harassment have agreed to a settlement of nearly $19 million that will go into a victims fund.  The deal would settle a class action lawsuit filed two years ago by New York state against Weinstein and his former production company, if it’s approved in bankruptcy and federal district courts.  New York Attorney General Letitia James announced the agreement on Tuesday.  “Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company failed their female employees,” she said in a statement. “After all the harassment, threats, and discrimination, these survivors are finally receiving some justice.  “This agreement is a win for every woman who has experienced sexual harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or retaliation by her employer.”  James said the $18.9 million will go into a victims compensation fund and benefit women who say they were abused by Weinstein.

Smoove, Richard Lewis and Ted Danson also star.  “Believe me, I’m as upset about this as you are. Gwen and Blake Wanna Get Married Soon

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are ready to walk down the aisle together, according to a new report.  They are reportedly “keen to make it happen as soon as possible,” a source told Us Weekly.  According to the outlet’s insider, the pair was first leaning towards a summer wedding but because of the coronavirus pandemic are pushing it back to the fall.  Another source said that Stefani, 50, and Shelton, 44, also want two ceremonies: one in Oklahoma and another in Los Angeles.  “Oklahoma gives the couple more privacy and the possibilities are endless for a wedding reception people will talk about for years,” the source said.  “COVID-19 has turned their world upside down, as it has with so many families,” an insider explained to the outlet in June. “Gwen knows she is blessed and wants to have the wedding as soon as social distancing guidelines are lifted.”  They both have been in quarantine with Stefani’s three sons Kingston, 14, Zuma, 11, and Apollo, 6.

Is Ellen Getting Cancelled?

Insiders are whispering that the “Ellen” show could be canceled soon, amid reports of falling ratings and allegations of her being “rude” to her staff, the Sun reports.  However, when reached by The Post for comment about the claims, DeGeneres’ production company reps said, “Telepictures can confirm it’s untrue.”  The syndicated talk show has been on the air since 2003. Most recently, DeGeneres courted controversy in April when crew members from her show spoke out about their treatment during the shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.  According to Variety, they had little communication or transparency about the status of their pay or continued employment. Comedian Kevin T. Porter launched a Twitter thread that went viral on March 20, calling for anyone who encountered DeGeneres to respond with “insane” stories about “Ellen being mean.”  “A new staff member was told, ‘Every day she picks someone different to really hate. It’s not your fault, just suck it up for the day and she’ll be mean to someone else the next day.’ They didn’t believe it, but it ended up being entirely true,” TV writer Ben Simeon wrote in one response.

Alligator Missing Limbs!

A large alligator with two missing limbs has a new home at a reptile rescue after it showed up on a Florida family’s front porch.  The 8-foot, 9-inch alligator was spotted Tuesday at the front door of a home in Tampa, and the residents called for help removing the reptile.  Karina Sura Paner and John Paner, who run the Croc Encounters wildlife sanctuary and operate as nuisance alligator trappers contracted with the state, were summoned to the scene to capture the alligator.  “He was not too happy to be evicted from his comfortable, shady spot as he smashed everything in sight upon exiting,” Croc Encounters said in a Facebook post.  The post said the alligator was missing two limbs, most likely as a result of a fight with another gator. See the pic HERE.

Exotic Cat On The Loose!

An Oklahoma woman is asking members of the public to keep an eye out for an exotic feline after her Savannah cat, a hybrid between an African serval and a domestic cat, escaped from her yard.  Samantha Lawler said the large cat, named Dayo, broke free from her harness and escaped from Lawler’s yard in Muskogee on Tuesday.  “This has happened one other time, but she stayed in the yard,” Lawler told the Muskogee Phoenix. “That’s why I think something spooked her, one of the dogs in the other yard or something, because she typically stays around. She’s only gotten out one time and she stayed right there.”  Lawler is asking members of the public to keep an eye out for Dayo, but she is warning residents not to approach the feline, as she is easily spooked and not friendly to strangers.

Man Falls Through Floor And Down Well!

Firefighters in Connecticut said a man survived with only minor injuries when he fell through the floor of a friend’s home and plunged nearly 30 feet down a well under the house.  The Guilford Fire Department and Guilford Police Department said Christopher Town was helping a friend move furniture into the home when the floor gave way under him and he fell nearly 30 feet down a well under the house, splashing into the cold water at the bottom.  The well was likely located outside the house when it was built in 1843, but the hole was covered only by some simple wood flooring when the property was renovated and added to in 1981.  “It is important to note that some of these older, historical homes may have hazards that were not upgraded by current code,” police said in a Facebook post.  Firefighters tossed town a flotation device to help him remain above water as they worked to hoist him out of the well with a rope system.  He suffered only minor injuries from his fall and was treated at a local hospital.

COVID-19 Watch

A 15-year-old inventor in Britain designed a watch to warn users when they are about to touch their faces after both of his parents contracted COVID-19.  Max Melia of Bristol, England, said he and his mother, Natalie Melia, came up with the original idea for the watch, dubbed Vybpro, a couple of years ago as a tool to prevent the spread of cold and flu viruses, but he didn’t decide to put the idea into action until the coronavirus pandemic took over the news — and his family.  “Watching this pandemic unfold on the news, it was clear the devastating effect it was having on people’s lives across the world,” Max told CNN. “However it wasn’t until I saw the severity of the virus firsthand, when both my parents contracted COVID-19, that I truly appreciated just what we were dealing with.” He said his father, Richard Melia, helped him with concept work and research earlier in the year, and he has now teamed with a product designer to create a working prototype of the Vybpro. The Vybpro is designed to vibrate and give off warning beeps when a user’s hand approaches their face.  Melia said he is now in the midst of a crowdfunding campaign with a goal of $74,000 to get the watches into production as soon as possible.

5 Questions Parents Should Ask Before A Coronavirus Pandemic Play Date

Huffington Post

  1. Here’s what we’ve been doing. How does that sound to you?

It’s not necessarily easy to start a conversation with another family about how they’ve handled the pandemic. Parents want to be thoughtful, but they also don’t want to come across as judgmental, said Dr. Allison Bartlett, a pediatric infectious disease specialist with the University of Chicago. She’s a mom and she knows how difficult it is to walk that line.

One idea is to lead with yourself.

“I find that putting forth your view first and saying, ‘Here’s what we’ve been thinking. We’ve been really diligent about staying home and keeping the kids quarantined, and one adult goes to the grocery store … but we really want to get our kids out and having social experiences. What kind of things have you guys been doing?’” Bartlett said.

Be pretty detailed and comprehensive, so they’ll hopefully be detailed and comprehensive in return.

And be prepared for a range of responses from, “Oh, my gosh, we’re not ready to open up our circle yet!” to “We’ve been doing everything for months now!” she said.

But once the other parent or caregiver has described what their family has been been up to, you can get a good sense of whether your risk tolerances line up.

  1. Who have you guys seen during the past two weeks?

“I’m very sympathetic to parents who are stuck home with their children and who want their kids to have social interaction, but who also want to have adult interaction with someone other than their partner themselves,” said Bartlett.

However, it’s important to recognize that when your kid plays with another kid, they’re being exposed to everyone that other child has been exposed to.

Which means your family is being exposed as well.

That’s not necessarily a problem; but it is a reminder to be really deliberate.

“It’s not a ‘don’t do it,’ it’s a ‘do it mindfully and thoughtfully,’” Bartlett said. Make sure you can answer the question yourself, and that you can give another parent or family a clear, honest sense of anyone you’ve come into contact with over the past several weeks.

  1. Has anyone in the house had a cough or fever?

This is a question that’s so simple and basic, some families might overlook it. But it’s really important to ask: “Has your child (or anyone in the home or anyone in contact with the child) been sick with a fever, cough, trouble breathing in the last 14 days?” recommended Dr. Catherine Soprano, a pediatrician with Nemours Children’s Health System.

“If the answer is yes, even if they have been tested for COVID-19 and were negative, I would not allow my child to be in contact with that child,” Soprano said.

  1. Will the play date be outdoors? Will the kids wear masks?

If there’s one thing experts consistently recommend when it comes to safe(r) play dates, it’s that heading outdoors is a very, very good idea. A lot of researchers now believe that the virus that causes COVID-19 isn’t just transmitted through large respiratory droplets; it may be spread through tiny aerosols that can linger in the air for hours. Air currents outdoors dilute those droplets much faster than if kiddos are sitting together inside.

“I think the number-one question parents should ask is, ‘Is this play date going to be taking place outside or in an open area?’” said Dr. Priya Soni, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Being indoors, in close contact with an infected person, is a “very big factor” in the transmission of COVID-19, she said.

Likewise, Soprano has called the risk of one or two kids playing together outside “quite low.”

That is not to say that play dates must be outdoors, but it’s something to strongly consider — and definitely something you want to have a sense of ahead of time.

Same goes for masks. Whether you and any other parents decide your kids should wear them while they’re hanging out is up to you, but you should absolutely have agreed on that ahead of time. Also, Soprano added that being consistent about mask wearing can make it easier for kids to accept.

“I would advocate for masks for every person who is 2 years old and older in any situation when they could come in contact with any person who they do not live with,” she said. “Thinking of masks in this way may actually help children to be more compliant with wearing the mask.”

  1. What is happening where we live?

This is really a question for both sets of parents or caregivers to ask themselves: What is local transmission like in your area right now? And is this a moment to be heading out or hunkering down a bit more?

“I think the main thing right now, with various states seeing an increase in cases and being in various phases of reopening, is to consider how your state is doing,” said Soni.

For example, she’s based in Los Angeles, which is seeing a surge of cases. “Our numbers are not moving in the right direction right now, so play dates are going to be a much riskier activity,” Soni said.

This is something parents are going to have to monitor for some time, and you should expect it to change. It might feel relatively low-risk to have a play date right now, but not necessarily in a few weeks’ time, and vice versa.

And a few extra safety tips…

In addition to considering having the play date outdoors, and requiring the kids to wear masks if you choose, think about what they’ll be doing. Will they be doing activities that require a lot of close physical contact? Will they be sharing food together? What kind?

“Will each child get their own small bag of Goldfish crackers that has been pre-packaged and sealed or are the Goldfish crackers in sandwich bags that were handled by the friend’s parent?” Soprano asked. Yes, these details seem small, but they matter.

Limiting the number of kids is a good idea, said Soni, who said she really wouldn’t recommend play dates of more than two or three kids right now.

Also, wipe down any toys kids might play with beforehand and after, and encourage hand-washing. Surface transmission isn’t the primary way the virus spreads, but you do want to be mindful of “high-touch” surfaces, Soni said.
