Mama June Admits Drug Habit

Mama June confessed to the severity of her drug habit during the latest episode of “Mama June: Family  Crisis” in an impassioned plea to reunite with her family.  She was arrested in March 2019 along with her boyfriend, Geno Doak, on suspicion of drug possession following a domestic dispute at an Alabama gas station. Since then, the reality star has been battling her drug habit, selling her belongings and losing custody of her 14-year-old daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson to her other daughter, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon.  Mama June and Pumpkin reunited for the first time in months to discuss a path for her to return to Alana’s life. That’s when she dropped the big confession about her past drug habits.  “The only reason I sold the house… we was dead f—ing broke,” she explained. “Because, you know, at that point we was doing quite a bit. I mean, it was a couple ounces a day. Our habit was $2,500 a day, if not more.”  Dr. Ish Major, who was on hand to help Mama June get clean, noted what a large amount of drugs that is.  “That’s 25 grams of meth a day,” he said. “Me and you take two… we’re done.”  June, who now says she’s been about 90 percent sober for months, continued to be honest with her 20-year-old daughter, confirming that it was not the first time she’s abused drugs in her life.  “’It wasn’t something that just started, and ‘oh my God, I started using drugs,’” she said. “You found out that I got busted. I got high because I wanted to. It’s not the first time I’ve ever done drugs.”

Kylie’s Baby Daddy Travis Hid Fling With Rihanna!-(National Enquirer)

Travis Scott had a secret fling with Rihanna, dished sources, who said the rapper, 28, had romanced the “Umbrella” singer, 32, before he dated future baby mama Kylie Jenner-mom of his daughter, Stormi.  Travis didn’t publicly cop to a relationship with Rihanna at the time.  But podcaster Lawrence Schlossman said he suspected Rihanna wanted to keep things hush-hush because she found their hookup, “embarrassing as f—k.”

Octavia’s Hidden Figure!-(Globe)

Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer is finally owning up to her real age-after having fibbed for years that she was two years younger!  “Yeah, I know I’ve been saying I’m 48,” confesses the “Hidden Figures” star, “but the internet will always win.”  How was she found out?  Pals from her school days did the math!  “’I’m 50, how are you 48?’” she says old classmates had chided.

Practice Makes Perfect!-(Us Weekly)

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are rumored to be marrying soon!  But this won’t be Stefani’s or Shelton’s first rodeo, er, wedding.  It will actually be the third for Shelton, who was married to Kaynette Williams (they divorced in 2006) before marrying Miranda Lambert in 2011.  And the “Hollaback Girl” singer had two weddings to Gavin Rossdale in 2002.  The first was in front of 150 guests at St. Paul’s Covent Garden in London, where Stefani wore an iconic custom-made, dip-dyed Christian Dior gown by John Galliano.  She recycled the stunning dress two weeks later for a vow-renewal in L.A., closer to Stefani’s family and friends (including then-couple Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt).  Shelton’s nuptials to Lambert were decidedly more country.  On May 14, 2011, the exes said “I do” at the 125-acre Dan Strange Ranch outside San Antonio, Texas.  Guests like Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson were treated to venison (deer meat), which Lambert had harvested herself!  “It was actually Miranda’s idea,” Shelton said at the time.  “When you girlfriend thinks like that, it makes it easy for me just to show up and have a good time!”

Taylor & Joe:  Eloping!-(Star)

Ready for the next chapter!  After spending the last few months holed up together in London, Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have decided to make things official.  Sources say the couple are tying the knot-but don’t expect the typical lavish Hollywood celebration.  After three years together, the “Me!” singer, 30, and the British actor, 29, who are known for keeping their relationship under wraps, are opting to quietly exchange vows.  “Neither of them wants to wait to have a formal ceremony,” a source dishes, noting that because of the pandemic and its related travel restrictions, it could take months to plan a more traditional wedding that includes their family and friends.  Instead, they’ve decided to marry this summer-so the next time Taylor steps foot on American soil, she’ll be a Mrs.!  “Taylor and Joe are in this together, and this is what they want,” the insider says.  “They’re very excited.”

Justin:  Dating His Wife’s Friend-(Life & Style)

This Is Us hunk Justin Hartley “blindsided” his wife, Chrishell Stause, with divorce papers in November-and now he’s dealt the Selling Sunset star, 38, another devastating blow.  The 43-year-old actor was spotted kissing his former The Young and the Restless co-star in LA on May 29.  Justin, Chrishell and Sofia, 30, all appeared on the soap opera together-and the two women have since remained close, commenting on each others Instagram posts.  “Chrishell was distraught when she found out,” spills a source.  “She didn’t see it coming and feels totally betrayed by them both.”

One Last Thing:  Ralph Macchio-(People)

The Karate Kid alum, 58, returns for the third season of the spinoff series Cobra Kai.

Last moment of pride-

My wife, Phyllis, is a nurse practitioner.  Every morning she heads off to the hospital, and there’s nothing I could be more proud of than the work she’s doing right now.

Last time my dog made me laugh-

Oliver is a rescue, and he prefers high-end bottled water.  Not only that, it’s got to be cold.  If I pour in tap, he looks at me like, “You want me to drink this?!”

Last moment of gratitude-

Just sitting down for dinner, hearing the news behind us and looking around the table at my wife and both my kids [Daniel, 24, and Julia, 28].  So far, so good.

Secretly Married!-(In Touch)

The COVID-19 pandemic derailed Emma Stone’s plans for a huge wedding in early March, but that didn’t stop her and fiancé Dave McCary from tying the knot.  “They had a small ceremony at home a few weeks later,” a source reveals.  “A few family members and friends video-called in as Emma and Dave said their ‘I do’s.’  It was simple and perfect.”  The Crazy, Stupid, Love actress, 31, and the Saturday Night Live segment director, 34, still plan on having a big wedding.  “Probably next year they will have a ceremony and reception for their loved ones.  They just didn’t want to have to wait until then to be officially married.  They couldn’t be more in love.”

Marijuana Sent To Wrong House

Authorities in Texas were called to a family’s home when they received an unexpected package containing 32 bags of marijuana.  The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a Houston home after the residents reported receiving a package they hadn’t ordered that was filled with cannabis.  “If it is yours please contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to claim it,” the sheriff wrote in an Instagram post.  See the pic HERE.

Snapping Turtle Invades Neighborhood

Police in Virginia said officers responded to a residential neighborhood to apprehend an unusual suspect: a 65-pound alligator snapping turtle.  The Fairfax County Police Department said Animal Protection Police were summoned to an Alexandria neighborhood where the large turtle was spotted wandering loose.  The animal was identified as an alligator snapping turtle, a species that is not native to Virginia.  Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries officials said they suspect the turtle was a pet bred in captivity and released into the wild.  The turtle, dubbed Lord Fairfax by rescuers, was taken to the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk.

Snake Found Inside Closed Store

A store in England that opened for the first time since the start of the coronavirus lockdown had to immediately close because of a snake inside.  The Sports Direct store in Newton Abbot, Devon, England, opened its doors to the public Monday for the first time since closing amid the COVID-19 pandemic months ago, but it soon closed for another several hours when the snake was spotted.  A local veterinarian was summoned to the scene and was able to capture the Honduran milk snake.  The serpent is now in the care of a veterinarian.

Real Batman Costume Sets Record

A dedicated fan in Maine broke a Guinness World Record when he added 30 working gadgets to his Batman costume.  Keith Dinsmore of Portland said he started dressing as Batman for pop culture conventions in 2013, and decided to attempt the Guinness record in 2017 after learning it was held by Julian Checkley, whose costume included 23 functioning gadgets.  He successfully captured the record with 30 distinctive mechanisms, including a bolla, batarangs, a butane torch, a mini grappling hook, binoculars, a compass, a finger print kit, a tracking device, a nylon rope, a road flare, a laser pointer, flashbangs, handcuffs, an acetylene cutting torch and an extendable baton.  “The best parts of creating my cosplays is the building process — especially when I’m creating something from my imagination — and presenting the final product and process to the cosplay community,” Dinsmore said.

11 Easy Ways You Can Save Time On Meal Prep

Huffington Post

  1. Master the art of doing one task while you wait on another.

“Think about which item you’re prepping that will take the longest amount of time and start there,” said Chicago-based registered dietitian Amanda Izquierdo. “This could be things like setting aside a protein to marinate, bringing water to a boil or preheating the oven.”

Processes that you can start and leave alone give you the opportunity to finish other tasks while you wait, such as slicing vegetables or mixing dressings.

  1. Microplane instead of mince.

Instead of mincing garlic cloves with a knife, Izquierdo runs the cloves over a microplaner. “It removes the need for a knife and ensures the garlic pieces are a uniform size, which can be challenging when mincing,” she said.

Just slide the garlic clove back and forth to shave off tiny pieces, proceeding with caution as the clove gets smaller so as to not cut your fingers. “You can also do this with onion in soups or stews,” Izquierdo added.

  1. Use an extra-large cutting board.

An extra-large cutting board can be a huge timesaver when chopping up ingredients.

“You can quickly set aside each ingredient on the board instead of having to place them into smaller bowls or containers to make space for the next item you need to chop,” said Michael Broughton, executive sous chef at Outlier in Seattle, Washington.

You also don’t have to wash or wipe down the board between each ingredient being chopped.

  1. Get peeling down to a science.

Instead of holding foods in one hand and peeling them with the other, place the food (say, a cucumber or a carrot) on the cutting board and hold it in place while you peel.

“Most peelers can go in both directions,” said Broughton. “You don’t have to lift it off the item to take it back to the top and peel down. Peel up and down, and the process will go twice as fast.”

  1. Soak steel-cut oats overnight.

Soaking oats overnight in plain water cuts in half the time it takes to cook them the next morning.

“When oats are soaked overnight, the starches break down, which makes them way faster to cook,” said recipe developer and nutrition coach Katrina TaTaé.

Fill a Mason jar with 1/4 cup of steel-cut oats and pour 1 cup of water into the container — you’ll be amazed by how much water has been absorbed the next morning!

  1. Learn how to stabilize veggies.

“As most vegetables are wobbly on a cutting board, cutting a small slice off the most bulbous part of the vegetable gives it a stable base upon which to [rest], saving you time by not having to chase a rolling vegetable around the cutting board,” said Cynthia Graubart, Atlanta-based cooking teacher and James Beard Award-winning cookbook author.

  1. Pick a theme (and keep it simple).

New York City-based registered dietitian Catherine Sebastian chooses one main meat or vegetable protein to focus on for the week and sticks with it, but with enough variety so that she doesn’t feel like she’s eating the same thing all week.

If your theme is ground turkey, for example, throw some in a slow cooker with a can of beans, corn, chili sauce and veggies. Then sauté some for tacos. Then add some of that sautéed meat to a can of marinara sauce for pasta with veggies.

“Before you know it, you’ve got three distinctly flavored meals (that can all be doubled) with just one protein source, and all made within the same timeframe,” Sebastian said.

  1. Cook bacon in the oven.

“You can cook a whole package of bacon in the oven and it turns out perfectly straight and crispy,” said meal prep blogger Denise Bustard. “No more standing over the pan, no more flipping the bacon, no more grease splatter.”

Heat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil, making sure to fold the edges up so the grease doesn’t run out. Arrange a package worth of bacon in a single layer with as little overlap as possible.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, making sure to keep an eye on it during the last few minutes to avoid overcooking. Voila!

  1. Cook squash before prepping it.

There’s a special kind of fear of injury that takes hold when cutting through a raw, rock-solid squash and scooping out the seeds that almost makes cooking butternut and spaghetti squash not worth it. Almost.

“It can be a challenging and slightly dangerous process,” Bustard said, which is why she cooks the whole squash first. “Cutting it in half and scooping out the seeds after roasting (and cooling slightly) is so much easier, and you also avoid over-steamed, mushy spaghetti squash noodles.”

For spaghetti squash specifically, heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place your squash on a baking sheet and poke holes in it with a paring knife. Roast it until a paring knife sinks in easily — around 60 minutes for a 2-pound squash and 90 minutes for a 3-pound one.

Cool for 15 minutes. Then slice the squash in half lengthwise and carefully scoop the seeds out ― you may want to let it cool slightly further before doing so. Use a fork to gently pull the noodles away from the outer skin.

  1. Use a mandolin for slicing.

Using a mandolin to cut up veggies is Clyde’s top recommendation for faster meal prep.

“It allows me to thinly and evenly slice my vegetables lightning-fast,” she said. “Using the safety veggie guard, you can slice anything from beets to onions to Brussels sprouts quickly — and without losing a finger.”

  1. Clean as you go.

Instead of waiting until you’re done cooking to wash all those utensils, wash a few when you have some downtime, like when you’re waiting for pasta to cook or heating something in the microwave.

“Your food will seem like it’s cooking faster and you’ll have fewer dishes to clean up afterward,” Clyde said.
