Vin Diesel Explains Feud With The Rock
Vin Diesel and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson were co-stars who didn’t see eye-to-eye when they first worked on the “Fast Five” back in 2011. The actors, who played Dominic Toretto and Luke Hobbs, respectively, had a feud on set that spilled over into the public arena when The Rock called out an anonymous actor via social media from the franchise’s set and many fans narrowed it down to Diesel. “It was a tough character to embody, the Hobbs character,” Diesel told Men’s Health of Johnson’s Hobbs, who was a government agent tasked with stopping Toretto and his car gang. He said he thinks their difference of opinion originated because Diesel was a tough producer. “As a producer, to say, ‘Okay, we’re going to take Dwayne Johnson, who’s associated with wrestling, and we’re going to force this cinematic world, audience members, to regard his character as someone that they don’t know’ — Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks,” Diesel explained. “That’s something that I’m proud of, that aesthetic,” he continued. “That took a lot of work. We had to get there and sometimes, at that time, I could give a lot of tough love. Not Felliniesque, but I would do anything I’d have to do in order to get performances in anything I’m producing.” Diesel and Johnson worked together again on the franchise’s sixth, seventh and eighth films. Johnson also got his own spinoff movie, “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw,” alongside redeemed villain Deckard Shaw, played by Jason Statham. “Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” Johnson wrote back in 2016 in a since-deleted post. “The ones that don’t are too chicken s–t to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses.” To his credit, Diesel never went low and tried to preserve the “family” dynamic of the street racing franchise, telling USA Today in 2017: “I don’t think the world really realizes how close we are, in a weird way.

She said in an interview published on Wednesday that she “absolutely” will not try dating apps to find a new partner. “Absolutely no,” she told People. “I’m going to just stick to the normal ways of dating. Having someone ask you out. That’s the way I would prefer it.” Although she’s still looking for a “fantastic partner,” the twice-divorced Aniston isn’t certain about making any relationship legally binding again. “Oh, God, I don’t know,” she said. “It’s not on my radar. I’m interested in finding a fantastic partner and just living an enjoyable life and having fun with one another. That’s all we should hope for. Harrison Ford Injured On Indy Set
A fight scene rehearsal has left Harrison Ford with an injury. While rehearsing “Indiana Jones 5,” Ford reportedly hurt his shoulder, according to Deadline. The extent of the injury is not yet known, but the shooting is reportedly set to continue coordinated around Ford’s recovery. The details of his treatment are also not yet known. “In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder,” Disney confirmed to Deadline in a statement. “Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks.” The treatment comes in addition to an already rigorous workout regime. To stay in shape for the current flick, Ford has been cycling up to 40 miles a day, walking frequently and eating plenty of supplement bars, the Mirror reported. He fits this into a packed schedule of 11-hour nighttime film shoots and just six hours for sleep. The movie is set to be released on July 29, 2022. Production on it began just this month at various UK locations.

Netflix Has Odd New Dating Show
Netflix released the trailer for its new, strange dating show, “Sexy Beasts,” which has many viewers scratching their heads. According to the preview, the bizarre new dating series will see singles go out on a series of dates with other singles. However, in an effort to prove that looks aren’t everything, they’re eliminating them from the equation by having every participant receive movie-quality prosthetics to hide their appearance and make them look like animals. According to Variety, the show is based on Lion TV’s original British series for the BBC Three that premiered in 2014. Each episode will see one single person looking for love go on three dates with potential matches, all in professional makeup. At the end of the episode, the single person will choose their favorite of the three before they’re allowed to see what they look like without the prosthetics. See the trailer HERE.

R Kelly Hanging With Ghislaine Maxwell
Singer R. Kelly has been moved to the notorious Brooklyn jail that is also holding accused madam Ghislaine Maxwell, while he awaits trial in federal court on sex-trafficking and racketeering charges, according to the Bureau of Prisons. Kelly was moved to the Metropolitan Detention Center from a federal lockup in Chicago, according to the Bureau of Prisons’ website, which provides information about where inmates are being detained. The MDC in Sunset Park has long been criticized by detainees, attorneys and even a senior federal judge for horrific conditions suffered by prisoners in the jail. Maxwell, one of the most high-profile prisoners at the jail, has detailed unsanitary conditions at the lockup in a number of letters to a federal judge while she awaits trial for allegedly procuring underage girls for Jeffrey Epstein to abuse. In her most recent missive, Maxwell’s attorney wrote that raw sewage “permeated” her cell and “vermin droppings fell from the air vents.”

Easttown Location Getting Too Many Tourists
Police in Pennsylvania are warning fans of HBO series Mare of Easttown to stop trespassing on private property to take photos of filming locations. The Nether Providence Police Department said in a Facebook post that there have been a string of incidents involving fans of the hit series, which was set in and partially filmed in Wallingford, trespassing on private property, including the house that served as Kate Winslet’s character’s home on the show. “It’s not cool to go to the homes they filmed at, trespass on the property and harass the owners and their kids all hours of the day and night,” the post said. The occupant of the home, who requested anonymity, said there have been multiple confrontations with impolite fans on sightseeing expeditions. “We’ve had a few instances where people have come on to our property — one late at night to look in our front window. Supposedly, I can only guess to see if it’s the same as where they filmed the show,” she told WPVI-TV.

Man Breaks M&M Record
A British man said it took him hours of attempts before he was able to break an unusual Guinness World Record by stacking five M&M’s candies. Will Cutbill, 23, of Solihull, England, said he had long dreamed of getting his name into the Guinness Book of World Records, but it wasn’t until the COVID-19 lockdown that he decided to make his dream a reality by stacking M&M’s. “It was during the third lockdown in January. I was in the living room, eating a bag of M&Ms, and I was incredibly bored, and I just decided to see how many of them I could stack on top of each other,” Cutbill told Birmingham Live. “I started thinking, I wonder if there’s a world record for this, so I looked it up online and found out the most anyone had ever stacked was four,” he said. Cutbill said he filmed his attempts for two or three hours before he managed to get his stack of five M&M’s. “It’s not something I would normally have taken the time to do — especially now that the sun is shining and the pubs are back open — but at the time, there wasn’t much else to do so it seemed like time well spent,” he said. The record of four M&M’s had been jointly held by Silvio Sabba of Italy and Brendan Kelbie of Australia before the record-keeping organization verified Cutbill’s video and issued him a certificate. Woman Receives Unwanted Amazon Packages
A New York woman who received more than 150 Amazon packages filled with mask brackets she didn’t order said she is donating the inventory to hospitals after the mistake was sorted by the company. Jillian Cannan of Buffalo said the packages began arriving June 5, and she didn’t realize there was anything unusual about them until she took a closer look. “I thought my business partner had ordered something for our studio that we were waiting for on backorder,” she told CNN. “So I opened them up to condense the boxes and I realized they were mask brackets.” Cannan said she and her business partner hadn’t ordered any mask brackets, and she soon realized the boxes bore her address, but not her name. “At first I was convinced that it was a scam, or maybe someone trying to clear out their warehouse,” she told NBC News. “But because all of the items were the same, I don’t think that’s the case here.” Cannan said the boxes continued to arrive via Amazon delivery, UPS and the U.S. Postal Service. “Then they started coming by freight trucks on pallets in our driveway,” she said.

Sex Doll Rescued From River
A team of emergency rescue divers were called to the scene of a nude “drowning woman” — only to discover that it was actually a floating life-size sex doll. The gaffe was chronicled on Twitter by YouTuber Natsuki Tanaka, who had initially believed she was witnessing a real-life rescue in the city of Hachinohe off Japan’s northeast coast, Kotaku reported. “While filming a fishing video, I thought a dead body floating in the water had washed up, but it was a blow-up doll,” Tanaka wrote about the strange scene, which occurred last week. The influencer — yes, she has more than 272,000 subscribers on YouTube — added that someone else had mistakenly phoned the authorities over the “drowning” woman, prompting a “Blues Brothers”-esque army of emergency services to arrive, ready to rescue what they thought was a person in peril. How To Pull Out Of A Job Interview Process Without Burning Bridges

- Don’t drop out right before an interview if you can help it
Once you’ve decided a role isn’t right for you, it’s important to let the hiring manager or recruiter know as soon as possible so it’s not an inconvenient surprise.
Unless something urgent comes up, backing out less than a day before you are supposed to have a job interview comes off as unprofessional.
“It’s very inconvenient and could leave a bad taste in the employer’s mouth, because the interview panel has blocked off their schedule … that’s time wasted on their side,” said Gabrielle Woody, a university recruiter for the financial software company Intuit.
- In your rejection, mention which roles are a better fit for you
Career coach Jessica Hernandez recommends thanking the hiring manager for their time, connecting with them or their company on LinkedIn if you haven’t already, and noting what kind of role you are looking for.
If you want more of a leadership role, for example, Hernandez said you could say something like: “After carefully considering the position, I’ve come to the difficult decision that this role is not the right fit for me at this time. The biggest factor in my decision to withdraw my candidacy was my desire to step into a role with greater leadership responsibilities. … Thank you so much for your time and support during the interview process. I admire ‘Company Name’ greatly and would enjoy working for your company in a position more aligned with my strengths and career goals. If I can be of any assistance in your search, please don’t hesitate to reach out.“
If one of the reasons you’re backing out is pay, Woody said, you can be direct about your rationale with language such as, “These are the types of bills and loans and financial constraints that I need to make work. If there is a role with a higher compensation package that could help me…”
- Offer a referral to soften the blow
One way to maintain a positive relationship? Offer the employer a different candidate you trust for the role. It shows this is a company you are willing to recommend friends and colleagues work for, and it helps the recruiter.
Hernandez said you could share the referral offer after you let them know you are declining, with language like, “I wanted to recommend ‘Name’ for the position. I worked with her at ‘Previous Company’ for 10 years. She has the experience you’re seeking and is looking for a role like this one. I would be happy to share her contact information if you’re interested in connecting with her.”
- If you can, do this all over the phone
Woody said if you have not gotten through the phone screen stage, a rejection email is fine. But for candidates who have done interviews, taking the time to call the hiring manager and tell them directly about your decision is a much more thoughtful approach.
“The phone calls really do stand out, because I’m always receiving emails. It sets the candidate apart a little more,” Woody said.
“It also helps the employer see how genuine that candidate is being. I feel like sometimes on email, tone of voice, you’re not able to really read that,” she added. “It also gives the employer the opportunity to ask any clarifying questions that could set the candidate up for success in a future recruiting process.”
- After you back out, check in to show that you are still genuinely interested in the company
To maintain a relationship with a company you want to join in the future, save interviewers’ emails, or connect with them on LinkedIn, so you can send occasional messages that show you are still following the organization.
In your messages, you can bring up points of commonality or the latest news about the company, like “Hey, I just saw this article that reminded me of something we talked about,” or “Wow, I saw the company increased the revenue by $10,000,” Woody shared as examples.
The goal is for your check-in to be a reminder about your interest, Woody said. “You’ll be fresh in the recruiter or hiring manager’s mind when a role does open up.”
