Queen Stamp Coming Out

British rock band Queen will appear on new postage stamps in the U.K.  Britain’s Royal Mail unveiled a series of stamps Tuesday featuring Queen’s Brian May, Roger Taylor, Freddie Mercury and John Deacon. Mercury died at age 45 in 1991.  “With their truly original, theatrical sound and effortless ability to mix musical styles, Queen are rock royalty. We pay tribute to one of the most loved bands of all time with these stunning stamps,” Royal Mail’s Philip Parker said in a statement.  The Royal Mail will release the 13-stamp set July 9, with pre-orders available now. The series features eight of Queen’s album covers, including Queen II and News of the World, a classic photo of the band and four shots from live shows.  “It’s hard to put into words what I feel when looking at these beautiful stamps,” Queen guitarist Brian May said. “Since we four precocious boys started out on our quest 50 years ago, our lives have been devoted to making our impossible dream come true.”  The Royal Mail previously honored the Beatles in 2007 and Pink Floyd in 2016.
*********The Queen called: “I thought I was ALREADY on the stamps???”
********These stamps are for all those people who want to lick Freddie Mercury!!

Will Smith Sued Over Biopic

Warner Bros. and Will Smith’s production company were hit with a massive lawsuit over the upcoming biopic about Serena and Venus Williams’ father.  The project, which has been in development for a while, is titled “King Richard” and is based on Richard Williams’ 2014 memoir “Black and White: The Way I See It.” However, Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment and Warner Bros. are being sued over whether or not they actually have the rights to the intellectual property.  Deadline reports that a complaint from TW3 Entertainment and Power Move Multi Media was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday alleging that they purchased the rights to the book for a mere $10,000 three years ago from Williams’ son and business partner Chavoita Lesane. Lesane was allegedly given limited power of attorney over Williams’ book “for the purposes of dealing with film and media rights for his book.”  The outlet reports that Williams supposedly sold the rights to his life story to the “King Richard” filmmakers for $1 million, calling the actual ownership of the rights into question.  Despite the legal questions the lawsuit raises, “King Richard” is reportedly still on track for a 2021 release.
********Sounds like somebody’s gonna get paid!! That’s the way it is in Hollywood!!
TOPIC: Who should play Serena??
*******Will the movie feature fuzzy balls?? That’s what we wanna know!!

Dennis Quaid Marries 27-Year Old

Dennis Quaid and Laura Savoie, who got engaged last October, eloped in Santa Barbara, Calif., and were married at a seaside resort on June 2, People magazine reported on Wednesday.  “It was beautiful,” said Dennis.  They originally planned for a wedding in April in Hawaii, along with a second reception for family and friends in Nashville. However, the two had to postpone the festivities amid the coronavirus pandemic.  But on June 2, the pair exchanged traditional vows and Bulgari rings with only their pastor as a witness.  “Just looking into her eyes, she was the most stunning bride,” Quaid gushed.  Savoie, a doctoral student, said she was moved by their officiant’s message “of what it really means to bring your lives together.”  “To put another person before yourself,” she added. See the wedding pic HERE.
********When your husband is that old, you’re already planning the funeral!!
******Dennis just wants to make it through the honeymoon!!
*****He’s got socks older than her!!
******Somebody asked about the age difference, and he said, “If she dies, she dies!!”

Sammy Hagar Wants To Tour Again

Sammy Hagar would rather “get sick and even die” if it meant playing in front of an audience during the coronavirus crisis, the rocker said in a new interview.  The former Van Halen frontman, 72, shared his thoughts on the effects of the pandemic that’s sickened more than 9.2 million people and killed more than 477,800 worldwide.  “I’ll be comfortable playing a show before there’s a vaccine, if it’s declining and seems to be going away,” Hagar told Rolling Stone as part of a feature on how musicians are tackling life without concerts.  He continued, “I’m going to make a radical statement here. This is hard to say without stirring somebody up, but truthfully, I’d rather personally get sick and even die, if that’s what it takes.”  He said he’d rather see people return to work — because COVID-19 is “going to kill more people in the long run.”  “If some of us have to sacrifice on that, OK,” Hagar said. “I will die for my children and my grandchildren to have a life anywhere close to the life that I had in this wonderful country. That’s just the way that I feel about it.”
*******He’s just saying that because he hasn’t gotten his government check yet!!
*****It’s amazing how this virus has scared people into committing societal suicide!!
*****We’re on his side… but if we’re gonna put our lives at risk, we’ll do it to see Guns N’ Roses!! Sorry, Sammy!

Jurassic Park Is The Number One Movie!

Steven Spielberg’s 1993 movie Jurassic Park was No. 1 for the fourth time in its release history this past weekend as movie theaters tried to have a semblance during the COVID-19 pandemic over what is typically a big movie going weekend, Father’s Day.  While 2020 fare like Universal/Dreamworks Animation’s Trolls World Tour had been leading at a still distressed box office for 9 weekends (with the exception of last weekend when The Invisible Man returned to the top of the chart), catalog titles dominated the majority of this weekend with Universal’s Jurassic Park earning $517,6K at 230 sites and the studio’s Jaws taking $516,3K at 187 locations. Those respective No. 1 and 2 weekend takes are improvements upon last weekend’s Invisible Man at $383K and Trolls World Tour with $275,7K.
*******We’re in the wrong business!! Make a movie and you’re cashing checks for the rest of your life!!
****Now is a good time to go to a movie!! It’s harder for people to talk during the flick with masks on!!
*****Have they thought about showing “Gone With the Wind??” That would make an interesting evening!

Dancer Derek Takes a Step Back From Proposing To Hayley!-(National Enquirer)

Julianne Hough’s bust-up with hubby Brooks Laich has caused her brother, Derek, to pump the brakes on his proposal to longtime galpal Hayley Erbert, sources said.  An insider said Julianne’s split spooked the “Dancing with the Stars” hoofer, 35.  “It wasn’t until Julianne married Brooks that he began to believe a celebrity marriage could work,” the insider snitched.  Sources said Derek was convinced “DWTS”
touring star Hayley, 25, was The One after five years together.  “Derek, who was raised Mormon, has a fear of making a mistake, then being stuck,” spilled the source.  “So for now his proposal is on the back burner!”

Stylish Billie’s Sad Secret!-(Globe)

While teens across the world try to copy stylish Grammy-winning stand-out Billie Eilish’s signature oversized fashion, the singer has a super sad secret hiding under all those baggy designer clothes.  “Here’s a bomb for you:  I have never felt desired,” says the 18-year-old hitmaker.  “My past boyfriends never made me feel desired.  None of them,” she heartbreakingly reveals.  “And it’s a big thing in my life that I feel I have never been physically desired by somebody.”  Picking the wrong guys sweetie.  You’re one of a kind!

Amanda Bynes:  Back on Track-(Us Weekly)

On June 11, Amanda Bynes was spotted out in L.A. for the first time since announcing in May that she was still engaged, going to therapy and working on her bachelor’s degree.  During the outing, Bynes, 34, who’s sought treatment for mental health issues, got a tattoo on her leg that says, “See you on the other side.”  Since December, the former child star has experienced myriad life changes:  She debuted a face tattoo; announced her engagement to on-again, off-again love Paul Michael; spoke out about the parental conservatorship that’s been in place since 2014.  ‘Amanda’s at a treatment center for stress and anxiety,” her attorney says.  “She’s not there for drug or alcohol issues.”  Still, every day is an uphill battle.  Adds an insider, “It’s going to be an ongoing struggle for the rest of her life.”

Maria’s About-Face-(Star)

Quarantine seems to have done Maria Shriver some good!  The journalist, 64, was recently spotted looking spectacularly well rested stepping out as lockdown restrictions eased in California.  But some suspect the mom of four’s newly smooth face may be due to something other than time out of the spotlight.  “In addition to Botox and filler, you can see the texture of her skin is a lot better,” notes a board-certified dermatologist.  “She’s probably had laser resurfacing and skin-tightening procedures.”

Gisele Slams Tom As ‘Selfish’-(Life & Style)

Football put a strain on Tom Brady’s marriage to Gisele Bundchen.  But while the quarterback admitted he “needed to make a change,” leaving the New England Patriots to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers doesn’t seem to have been the right one.  Although Tom, 42, has portrayed himself as a devoted husband and a hands-on father to John, 12, Benjamin, 10, and Vivian, 7, a source claims the perfectionist athlete has been spending little time with his brood, including during Florida’s now-lifted coronavirus lockdown.  “Gisele’s accused Tom of being selfish,” shares the source, noting that despite a rep for the 39-year-old supermodel denying there’s trouble in paradise, the Sunshine State certainly wasn’t her first choice of places to move to.  “When Tom’s had a busy day of training, he’ll come home and pass out on the couch.  There’s a lack of effort, for sure, but what annoys Gisele more is when Tom yells at the kids for behaving badly during the time he does spend with them.  She feels he should be more patient.”

One Last Thing:  John Lithgow-(People)

The veteran actor, 74, stars in HBO’s limited series Perry Mason.

Last time I said ‘I love you’-

Oh, within the last couple of hours, to my wife [Mary Yeager].  It’s kind of a mantra around here.  It would be interesting to calculate how many times a day we say it.  But it’s surely double figures.

Last time I danced-

A few nights ago.  We were in our family room, and some Lucinda Williams music was on, so we started slow dancing.  It was very sweet.

Last memento from a set-

The team on The Crown gave me an oil sketch of me as Churchill.  It’s one of many, many great things I took away-but that one I can hang on a wall.

Sleep Spell-(In Touch)

Looks like somebody needed a nap!  John Legend rests his eyes as his daughter, Luna, 4, watches Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone for the first time.

Cat Rescued From Tree After 3 Days

A New Jersey town enlisted the help of a professional tree climber to rescue a cat that was stranded for three days on a high branch of a tall tree.  The Town of Smithtown said the domestic shorthair tabby cat, named Tiger, went missing from his home in the Nesconset area last week and was spotted by a neighbor a few days later in a tree more than 50 feet off the ground.  Town officials said they initially hoped the cat would climb down on its own, but after three days it was determined that the feline was stranded and needed help.  Mitch Crowley, director of Smithtown Traffic Safety, led a crew attempting to use a bucket truck to reach Tiger, but they were unable to get high enough on the tree. A Nesconset Fire Department crew attempted to use a ladder to reach Tiger, but they were also unsuccessful.  The town ended up enlisting the help of a man named Omar who works as a tree climber for Impressive Properties. Omar donned a helmet and a harness and climbed the tree to reach the feline and carry him back to safety.
********And was the cat sorry he put everyone though all that?? Not at all. He’s a cat!
********No wonder women won’t date guys with cats!! The cats get all the attention!!

Pokemon Card To Sell Big

An extremely rare Pokemon card, thought to be one of only seven ever produced, is up for auction online and experts said it could sell for up to $100,000.  The Pokemon Super Secret Battle No. 1 Trainer card, being sold by Heritage Auctions, is billed by the auction house as the “holy grail” of collectible cards and its condition was rated a perfect 10 by experts at PSA Card.  The card is one of seven that were distributed to winners of regional tournaments in Japan in 1999, granting them entry into the finals in Tokyo.  “The Pokemon Card Game Official Tournament’s champion is recognized here, and this honor is praised. By presenting this card, you may gain preferential entry into the Secret Super Battle,” the card reads in Japanese.  Experts said the card could sell for up to $100,000. The auction ends July 8th.

Restored Painting Looks Like A Cartoon

The Spanish owner of a painting by famed artist Bartolome Esteban Murillo said he paid more than $1,300 to have it restored and the process made a mess of the Virgin Mary’s face.  The Valencia owner of The Immaculate Conception of Los Venerables by baroque artist Bartolome Esteban Murillo said he paid $1,356.69 to have a furniture restorer clean the painting, but the attempt destroyed the face of the Virgin Mary.  The owner said the restorer made two attempts to restore the face, and the results left the painting with a cartoon-like face.  The botched restoration drew comparisons to the Ecce Homo painting, which was redubbed “Monkey Christ” after an 81-year-old church member attempted an amateur restoration in 2012. See it HERE.

Man Tracks Down Dad’s Old Car

An Oklahoma man paid tribute to his late father by tracking down and buying his Dodge Challenger more than 30 years after the older man’s death.   Bobbie Bohnsak of Gage said he was only 8 years old when his father, Bob Bohnsak Sr., died in 1988, but he inherited his namesake’s love of cars — including a fondness for the 1974 Dodge Challenger.  Bohnsak said his father purchased the car brand new from an Illinois dealership shortly after he returned from serving in Vietnam, but sold it a few years after moving to Oklahoma to help support his family.  The older Bohnsak died in an accident in 1988, but Bobbie Bohnsak said he remembered his father’s Challenger and decided to try to track it down.  Bohnsak said he was able to find the vehicle identification number from an old bill of sale and did an online search, which revealed the car was currently for sale in San Diego.  “It was very emotional and stressful,” Bohnsak told KFOR-TV of purchasing the car and having it shipped. “I bet I didn’t sleep eight hours till it was home and it took a week.”
********Sounds like fate!! It was for sale when he found it??
******It still has the same back seat where he was conceived!!
