Edward Scissorhands House For Sale

The house made famous by 1990 film Edward Scissorhands is on sale in Florida for $699,900, and the residence comes with memorabilia including a life-sized mannequin of the title character.  The Lutz, Fla., home, currently owned by Joey Klops, was made famous as the home of the family that took in Johnny Depp’s character in the Tim Burton film.  Klops had the home remodeled to make the interior resemble the sets that served as the inside of the house in the film, and it is stocked with memorabilia including authentic and reproduced props, an original script used by the movie’s pop master and a life-sized Edward Scissorhands mannequin.  The exterior of the house has also been decorated with unusual landscaping designed to resemble the topiary art created by Edward. Kim K To Share Pete Davidson Details

Kim Kardashian says she’ll share “all the details” about her romance with Pete Davidson on her family’s new Hulu series, The Kardashians.  She said in an interview with Variety that The Kardashians will explore her romance with Davidson, an actor and comedian who stars on Saturday Night Live.  “[Viewers will see] how we met and who reached out to who and how it happened and all the details that everyone wants to know,” Kardashian said. “I’m definitely open to talking, and I definitely explain it.” Kardashian said she hasn’t filmed with Davidson but is “not opposed” to the possibility.  “It’s just not what he does,” she said of her beau. “But if there was an event happening and he was there, he wouldn’t tell the cameras to get away. I think I might film something really exciting coming, but it wouldn’t be for this season.”  Kardashian and Davidson were first linked in October 2021 after Kardashian hosted SNL. Kardashian had filed for divorce from her husband, rapper and fashion designer Kanye West, in February 2021 after nearly seven years of marriage.

Oscar Hosts Drink Up

Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes are already pre-gaming for the 94th Academy Awards.  The trio are hosting the 2022 Oscars and the Academy released the first promo for the show on Wednesday.  They jokingly rip on past ceremony hosts over glasses of red wine and cheese boards in the 30-second spot.  “We just have to do better than last year’s host,” Sykes notes. Schumer then agrees, adding: “That is the thing, totally. It is a competition in that way.”  The three gals take a moment to remember last year’s host. They come to the conclusion that they can’t recall one, with Amy laughing, “God, they must have sucked.”  Hall explains that the last three years have gone without a host and Sykes replies, “Boom, we’re already winning!” Jimmy Kimmel was last host in 2018. “We want people to get ready to have a good time. It’s been a while,” said Hall, Schumer and Sykes in a joint press statement just weeks ago.  The in-person event airs on ABC from Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on March 27 at 8 p.m. ET — and will not require guests to show proof of vaccination.

Kelly Clarkson Reaches Divorce Settlement

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock have finally reached a settlement in their bitter divorce battle.  Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon signed off on the terms.  Clarkson has reportedly been granted primary custody of their two children — daughter River, 7, and son Remington, 5 — while Blackstock, who resides in Montana, will have the kids one weekend a month.   Clarkson will keep the former couple’s Montana ranch, though Blackstock is allowed to live there until June 1. In the meantime, he must cough up $12,500 a month for rent. She previously agreed to give Blackstock over 5 percent of the rural estate. His share equates to $908,800 of its $17,750,000 estimated value.  Clarkson initially won the heavily fought-over home last October, but Blackstock argued it was “marital property” and not part of their prenuptial agreement.  Blackstock will now get spousal support — $115,000 a month — but that expires in January 2024.

Netflix released the official trailer for season 2 of Bridgerton, which is returning to the streaming platform on March 25.   Following the structure of the novels written by author Julia Quinn, the second installment focuses on eldest Bridgerton sibling Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s (Jonathan Bailey) journey to find love.  In the trailer, fans get a glimpse at Anthony’s attempts to find a suitable wife who will uphold his family name.  “It is only out of the greatest love of my family that I am to choose a wife with head and not my … heart,” he says.  Anthony begins to court new arrival Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran) but finds himself having to prove his intentions to her older sister, Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley). However, as the two butt heads, Anthony finds himself in a love triangle after he and Kate grow closer.  Season 2 of Bridgerton premieres March 25 on Netflix. See the video HERE.

Courteney Cox Has A Hard Time Remembering Friends

Courteney Cox recently sat down with “Today’sWillie Geist for an extended “Sunday Sitdown” interview when she shared that she realized there were a lot of gaps in her memory when she appeared on “Friends: The Reunion” in May 2021.  “I should’ve watched all 10 seasons because when I did the reunion and was asked questions, I was like, ‘I don’t remember being there,’” she laughed. “Yeah. I don’t remember filming so many episodes.”  Last year, the cast of “Friends” reunited on the set to take a look back at the comedy that turned all six stars into household names.  “I see it on TV sometimes and I stop and go, ‘Oh my God, I don’t remember this at all,’” Cox added. “But it’s so funny.”  She admitted that she has a “bad memory” and doesn’t remember many things from her life beyond shooting the iconic sitcom.  “It’s really basic,” she laughed. “I don’t remember any trauma in my childhood, but I have, like, three memories. I don’t know. I don’t know why.”

Real Life Hero!-(Star)

It was like something out of a movie. Aquaman’s Jason Momoa sprang into action when things got dicey at a Manhattan watering hole. On Feb. 18, the 42-year-old as on hand as an unruly guest refused to leave NYC’s swanky Bowery Hotel. According to eyewitnesses, the boozed up guy challenged a bartender to a fight and was swigging drinks off strangers’ tables before facing off with hotel security. That’s when the 6-foot-4 Hawaii native stepped in, scooping up the drunk in a bear hug and depositing him outside the eatery. “Who the f**k are you?” wondered the plastered patron, to which Jason answered, “You wanna fight?” No punches were thrown, but an insider says the action hero was ready!

Missing Cat Reunited After 5 Years

Animal rescuers in British Columbia said a 13 1/2-year-old cat is on his way to being reunited with his owner five years after the feline was reported missing.  The group Find Lost and Escaped Cats, or FLEC, said the cat was recently reported missing near the Royal Bay bluff by a Colwood family, and the pet was soon found by a member of the public and taken to a veterinarian.  The vet found the cat had a microchip that the Colwood family didn’t know about. The chip identified the feline as a cat reported missing five years earlier by a woman who now lives in St. Catherines, Ontario.  “I think you could have knocked the owner over with a feather when they were contacted,” FLEC President Jill Oakley told the Saanich News of the cat’s original owner.

Woman Ripped Off At The Pump

A Central Florida woman said she and other customers were ripped off at a gas pump in Cocoa, telling Channel 9 that they unknowingly paid more than $8 a gallon for regular gas.  Cynthia Bempah said she was charged more than double the cost displayed on the sign for regular gas at the Mobil gas station along Cocoa Boulevard and Michigan Avenue.  “I came up here to fill up my gas tank, and it showed on the sign $3.82,” Bempah said. “I noticed the price was going up — six gallons for $53 that’s when we stopped. It said 8.29.”  Channel 9 took her concerns to the manager, who blamed the price bump on a computer malfunction.   The manager didn’t want to go on camera but told Channel 9 the price was a mistake caused by a computer malfunction that has since been fixed.  The owners said customers can bring in a receipt or bank statement to be refunded the difference in gas or eventually they’ll give back the money directly to the card.  They told Channel 9 they couldn’t refund the money today because of a computer issue.

What To Do If Group Texts Are Stressing You Out

HUFFINGTON POST

Designate set times to review group chats

“I recommend choosing certain times of the day when you plan to catch up on texts,” Stuempfig said. “Many people find it helpful to choose three 20-minute windows per day, one in the morning, afternoon and evening, where they read and respond to messages. By doing so, you avoid feeling like you spent the entire day trying to keep up, and it decreases anxiety caused by receiving constant alerts.”  Establishing a text routine also allows you to consume the information in a state that is mentally and emotionally optimal for you. Don’t feel pressure to engage in the conversation when you aren’t in the right headspace. You can always chime in later and use the feature where you reply to a specific text bubble within the conversation as you catch up.  “If you know that the thread is more active at night and you are going to wake up to a bunch of texts, ground yourself and take some time for yourself before you read them,” Ward said. “If the topic is a stressful one, set aside a certain time of the day to respond. If it is helpful, you can help set people’s expectations: ‘I want to be able to give this my full attention so I’ll respond after ___.’”

Turn off notifications

“My advice for coping with the stress of trying to keep up with group text chats includes putting yourself in control of your notifications rather than notifications controlling how you spend your time,” Stuempfig said. “To do this, I recommend turning off all notification alerts. No sounds, no banners, no vibrating ― nothing.”  Turning off notifications gives you the ability to be more intentional about how you spend your time.

“When we are alerted by sounds and buzzing, it pulls us out of real-life moments,” Stuempfig explained. “It interrupts our in-person socializing, our momentum with work projects, homework, family time, relaxing time, sleep ― all of the necessary positive activities for our mental health.”

If you have an iPhone, make use of the “Focus” settings like the “Do Not Disturb” mode. You can designate certain times of day when your phone will automatically go into this mode. You can also set exceptions for certain contacts and apps, so you don’t have to worry about missing that important call from your boss or best friend.

Keep group chats small, if possible

Of course, we can’t change the size of our friend groups. But if you’re starting a new text chat, really think about how many people you’re inviting.

“I recommend minimizing the number of people on group chats so that the notifications are not quite as overwhelming,” Stuempfig said. “Anything over four to five people is going to create hundreds of notifications within seconds once a conversation starts. These large group chats are extremely hard to manage and create a feeling of constantly needing to check to see what is being discussed.”

Conduct your group chats in a separate app

Part of the reason group chats can feel so stressful is that they show up alongside all of the individual text communication you’re having.

One potential solution is to conduct your big group conversations in separate apps. GroupMe and WhatsApp are popular options, and I have several group chats in the Facebook Messenger app.

Designating a separate space for these ongoing group discussions is another way to assert control over the situation and feel less overwhelmed. Checking the thread and engaging in the conversation becomes an opt-in situation.

Pin texts

I’ve long lamented the fact that you can’t mark texts as unread. It just feels too easy to inadvertently let communications fall through the cracks if you can’t respond immediately.  One solution I’ve come up with is adding “respond to X” to my to-do list when I receive a message that requires a more meaningful reply and don’t have the bandwidth to immediately offer it. I’ve added “catch up on college group chat” to the list as well.

Another option is to use the text-pinning feature. If you notice a group chat is popping off but can’t respond in the moment, pin the conversation so it’s at the top of your Messages app. That way, you’ll remember to check in with it later and can unpin it once you’ve replied to the parts you want to engage with.

Take it off the thread

Just because certain conversations are happening in group text threads doesn’t mean they can only happen in that medium. In fact, some topics lend themselves better to verbal communication.

Ward advised moving certain discussions to Zoom or an in-person meetup.  “Take the conversation out of the chat and have a verbal conversation instead,” Ward said. “For example, planning may be completed in a five-minute conversation vs. a day worth of text.”

Take breaks

You don’t have to reply to everything in an ongoing group chat. If the topic is impacting your mental health, it’s fine to take a break and come back to the conversation when it feels less overwhelming.

“We all can benefit from consumption breaks,” Ward said. “If the chat is retelling or rehashing current events, that may contribute to feeling stressed. If it is about illness or death, that can also shift mood.”  You can let your friends know that you be taking a pause or leave the chat for a longer stretch and ask to be added back later if you’d like.

“Boundaries extend to our text communication, so it is good to examine when and how you are utilizing your boundaries,” Ward said.

Practice mindfulness

Even if you make some changes, you might still find yourself feeling overwhelmed at certain times. It can be helpful to try some mindfulness exercises.

“In the moment, you can also give yourself some quick stress releases,” Ward said. “Take a deep breath. Use your five senses to ground yourself to the environment.”  Practicing mindfulness can involve deep breathing, meditating, taking a walk or otherwise shifting your focus.

“It’s important that when we take breaks from our phones, we engage in restorative activities that feel relaxing for our brains and bodies,” Stuempfig said. “We are faced with so much digital input throughout our days that it can feel foreign to people when they slow down, but we all need breaks from the adrenaline rush. Taking a walk without bringing a phone with you or silencing texts and only allowing calls from emergency contacts can be a great way to refresh ourselves.”
