We look forward to bringing more of her films to our members around the world,” Christina Rogers, director independent film at Netflix said in a statement. AMC Charging More For The Batman

Fans may need to carry some extra cash with them if they’re off to see “The Batman” this weekend.  AMC Theatres are planning to charge higher ticket prices for the Robert Pattinson movie when it opens tomorrow (Friday).  They are experimenting with variable pricing for films, meaning they want to charge more money for certain, presumably higher-budget movies.  AMC’s CEO Adam Aron announced the news on Tuesday during a web call about the company’s quarterly profits: “Currently, our prices for ‘The Batman’ are slightly higher than the prices we are charging for other movies playing in the same theaters at the same time,” he said.  According to the Verge, the UK-based AMC subsidiary Odeon got more cash from moviegoers for its “Premier” seats in the middle of its theaters. These special chairs cost around $12.65, compared to $10 for a regular seat at a cinema in South London. They are also charging $13.30 for a ticket to “The Batman,” while “Sing 2” is only $10.  Meanwhile, at a Long Island theater, tickets for the Tom Holland adventure film “Uncharted” are $19.49, while access to “The Batman” will cost $20.49. In Los Angeles, an adult ticket for “Uncharted” was sold for $17.49, and “The Batman” is $25.49 per stub.
*********We’re screwed!! We can’t even afford the gas to get to the movie theater!!
*****They ARE holding down the price of popcorn!! It’s still just $100 a bucket!!
*******For that price, we reserve the right to strangle any kid who starts talking during the movie!!

Wendy Williams Ex Suing Production Company

Wendy Williams’ ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, is suing the production company of her eponymous daytime talk show for wrongful termination.  The civil lawsuit filed in New York City federal court Monday claims Debmar-Mercury wrongfully fired Hunter “on the basis of his marital status” to Williams.  “Hunter was one of the reasons behind the Wendy William Show’s tremendous success and everything seemed to go south after he left,” Hunter’s attorney, Abe George, said in a statement Wednesday morning.  “Mr. Hunter was unlawfully terminated solely due to his marital status to Wendy, which is contrary to human rights laws in NYC.”  Hunter was fired from his role as executive producer from “The Wendy Williams Show” in April 2019, just a week after the now-reclusive talk show host filed for divorce from him after his then-girlfriend Sharina Hudson became pregnant.  “This lawsuit seeks to compensate Mr. Hunter for the sweat equity that he put into the show and that Debmar-Mercury will continue to profit on even in their new reincarnation of the Wendy Williams Show,” George added, referencing the cancellation of the show and Sherri Shepherd’s permanent takeover.
**********Divorce… the gift that keeps on giving!!
*******She divorced him just because he started a family with his mistress?? How narrow-minded!!

Jason Momoa Is Working On His Family

Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet still appear to have a special connection.  He says he and his estranged wife are “still family.”  He showed his support for Bonet’s daughter, Zoe Kravitz, at “The Batman” premiere in New York City on Tuesday. He was accompanied by his and Bonet’s 14-year-old daughter, Lola, and 13-year-old son, Nakoa-Wolf.  “We’re just so proud. Lisa couldn’t be here so we’re representing, me and the babies,” Momoa told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet. “We’re very excited to just be here. … It’s still family, you know?”  A day before the premiere, Momoa shared a sweet message for Kravitz on his Instagram, writing how excited he was to celebrate her latest project.  “CHEEEEHUUUUUUUU. SO EXCITED @channingtatum and I are on our way to see our ZOZO. finally @thebatman premiere. i’m so beyond proud of you @zoeisabellakravitz,” he wrote, alongside photos of him and actor Channing Tatum.  Momoa and Bonet announced in January that they were splitting after 16 years together and four years of marriage.

Ellen Buys Another Mansion

Ellen DeGeneres has spent nearly $21 million for a Moorish-inspired spread in Santa Barbara County, California, according to Realtor.com.  Located in Montecito, Villa Tragara’s design influence comes from the Alhambra palace in Granada, Spain. The nearly 12,000-square-foot property, on 2.45 acres, asked as much as $35 million in 2019, according to reports at the time — meaning she got quite the deal. She and her wife Portia de Rossi aren’t strangers to Montecito. Dirt notes the couple own a $14.3 million ranch there, as well as a small cottage too.  Also in Montecito, a property that DeGeneres and de Rossi bought in September 2021 for $12 million off-market, which now asks $13.9 million for sale. They also own a midcentury modern home in Beverly Hills, which DeGeneres shelled out $8.5 million to get last August.
*********Yeah, she’s rich… but is she happy?? Well… yes, she is!!
******She won’t live in the new mansion. She’ll use it as an Airbnb!!!
****12,000 square feet sounds like fun.. until you have to dust it!!

Beetlejuice Sequel In the Works

A sequel for Tim Burton’sBeetlejuice” is reportedly in the works from Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, according to Deadline.  The details-scarce project has allegedly “long been in the works at Warner Bros.,” according to the outlet, which also noted that the film is currently in a pre-script stage.  “Beetlejuice” — which starred Michael Keaton as the titular ghoul who had several misadventures with a recently deceased young couple, played by Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin — grossed $73 million worldwide in its opening year, according to Box Office Mojo, and fittingly took home an Oscar for best makeup and hairstyling in 1989. There was no word on whether any of the original movie’s stars would reprise their roles.
********Michael Keaton returns.. and this time, he won’t need any makeup!!
********He’s joined in the afterlife by the ghost of Alec Baldwin!!
*****Now they have to say “Beetlejuice” 6 times!! You know.. inflation!!

Lottery Winner Dodges Winning Calls

An Australian woman found out she had won a lottery jackpot of more than $70,000 after multiple days of dodging phone calls that she assumed were scammers.  The Frenchs Forest, New South Wales, woman told The Lott officials she bought a ticket for the Feb. 25 Lucky Lotteries drawing at thelott.com, but forgot to check her account after the drawing.  Lottery officials tried contacting the winner by phone, but the woman ignored the calls for several days, assuming they were scam-related.  “I received some phone calls and emails straight after the draw, but I didn’t recognize the phone number or email, so I didn’t answer or take any notice! I said to myself, ‘It’s definitely a scam,'” the woman recalled.  “I ignored the phone calls and emails for a few days, and then, eventually, I decided to log in to my online The Lott account. It all started to make sense when I discovered I’d won.”  The woman won a jackpot of $72,580.50. The winner said she still is thinking about how to use her prize money.

Student Accepted To 18 Colleges

A Pennsylvania high school student is facing a big decision after being accepted to 18 colleges and being offered more than $1 million in scholarships.  Brianna Maddonni, a senior at Interboro High School in Prospect Park, amassed a total $1.08 million in scholarship offers, but she said she hasn’t yet decided where to go.  Maddonni, who has a 4.0 grade-point average and plays varsity lacrosse, said she believes the key to her success was learning to advocate for herself after finding out she has genetic hearing loss.  “If somebody’s walking in front of me and they’re trying to talk to me when I’m behind them, I can’t hear a word they say,” she told WPVI-TV.  Maddonni said she put a lot of work into applying for schools and scholarships.  “I revised my college essay several times, and I applied to all the scholarships that I could, and if they had an honors college, I applied to the honors college,” she said.  Jasmine Woodson, a guidance counselor at Interboro High School, said putting in the effort is key to getting scholarships.

MJ’s Debut Game Ticket Sells Big

An unused ticket to Michael Jordan’s NBA debut game with the Chicago Bulls in 1984 was auctioned for $468,000.  Heritage Auctions said the ticket to the Oct. 26, 1984, Chicago Bulls home game against the Washington Bullets sold for $468,000.  Mike Cole, the ticket’s former owner, said he was gifted two tickets to the game by Jerry Sachs, a Bullets executive and family friend, while he was attending Northwestern University in the 1980s. He said one of the tickets remained intact because he had been unable to find anyone to attend the game with him.  Heritage said the ticket is the only known surviving example of an unused ticket from the game, which marked the NBA debut of superstar Michael Jordan.  Cole, who does not consider himself a collector, said he was shocked to see how high the auction climbed.  “I’ve never held on to these items thinking one day they’re going to be worth a lot of money,” he told the Chicago Tribune. “I hold on to them because they are memories of good experiences and times spent with family and friends, and as we get older, as is in my case, it’s often enjoyable to think of those times from the past.”  The sum fetched by the ticket was briefly a new record for the auction of a sports ticket, but it was broken a short time later when a ticket stub from Jackie Robinson’s April 15, 1947, Major League Baseball debut game sold for $480,000.
**********Yeah… that’s the trump card!!!
****Michael’s used game shorts went for more than that!!

Man Claims He Wasn’t Driving Out Of Control Bentley

A man found in the driver’s seat of a Bentley that had just crashed into multiple parked vehicles in a Los Angeles neighborhood Tuesday morning told responders he wasn’t the driver.  The crash was reported around 2 a.m. near the intersection of Vanowen Street and Sunset Ridge Court.  Video from a nearby Nest camera showed what appeared to be a speeding vehicle slam into a car, then hit several more vehicles as it spun out of control.  The damaged black Bentley was nearly unrecognizable when it finally came to a stop.  A man found sitting in the driver’s seat said someone else was driving the luxury car at the time of the crash.  “I wasn’t driving … ask these guys. My friends,” the man can be heard saying in a separate video.  A responder then asks the man why he was in the driver’s seat and the man says, “Right now, we switched … Ask him. Ask anybody.”  The man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, according to firefighters.
********More importantly, was the car OK??? (LA question)

Best Jobs for Teens

THE PENNY HOARDER

Job Eligibility for Teenagers

The state in which you live determines your eligibility for certain types of employment. The U.S. Department of Labor doesn’t allow anyone under the age of 14 to work, and it limits the amount of hours someone can work before they turn 16.

But each state has different child labor laws that vary depending not just on age, but also on the type of work. Some states also require permits to work during certain hours of the day or during the school year and have laws surrounding how many hours per week you can work.

If you’re unsure about your eligibility for employment in your state, check out the Department of Labor’s website.

What Kinds of Jobs are Good for Teens?

If you’re a teen looking for a job, it’s likely that you don’t have any prior work experience. But luckily, there are thousands of jobs available to you that don’t require any education, experience or even training.

Because your job needs to fit around your work schedule, hourly jobs are the best options for teens. You’ll be able to work a few hours a day after school and on weekends without having to skip class or leave your homework unfinished.

For example, you could work at a fast food restaurant, stock shelves at a grocery store, serve food at a restaurant or help customers at a retail shop.

Another option is to work for yourself. Instead of working under a manager, a lot of teens are able to make money by offering their skills to friends, family and neighbors without applying for more traditional jobs. For example, you can babysit, become a tutor or offer up other skills you have — like mowing lawns or washing cars.

Best Online Jobs for Teens

While working at an ice cream shop or skate shop sounds fun, there are also online jobs that are available to teenagers. If you’re over 16 (or 18, in some cases) you can get paid to write online, answer questions as a call center representative, do data entry or even be a virtual assistant.

Online jobs allow for a greater flexibility in your schedule and don’t require you to have a car or use public transportation. And more and more of these online companies are open to hire teens.

You can find the best online jobs by using a job search engine like ZipRecruiter.

Best Summer Jobs for Teens

If working after school doesn’t fit into your schedule, a lot of high schoolers choose to take summer jobs. Being a lifeguard or camp counselor are just a few summer-specific jobs that can earn you plenty of cash before school starts again in the fall.

If you have a car, being a delivery driver is a job you can have year-round and ramp up your hours during summer, winter and spring breaks. On sites like DoorDash or UberEats, delivery drivers set their own hours and can add more during their time off school.

How to Fit a Job Into Your School Schedule

Between classes, homework, chores and, of course, your social life, finding time to work and make some money can be hard as a teen. But thankfully, many job opportunities provide teens with a flexible schedule because they know these young employees have a lot on their plate.

During your interview, talk to your potential employer about what days and hours you will be available to work. By letting them know ahead of time, you won’t need to worry about being scheduled during soccer practice or later than your curfew.

Additionally, use your new job as an opportunity to get friendly with your coworkers and maybe even make friends — these are people who can help you out when you need to switch shifts to study for a test or go out of town for a debate competition. Having a good relationship with both your boss and the people you work alongside will make it easier for you to fit work into your busy school schedule.

How Much You Can Get Paid as a Teen

Real talk — if this is your first job, you’ll probably start by making minimum wage. But we all have to start somewhere! The national minimum wage is $7.25/hour for exempt employees (non tip-based jobs, like servers) but many states have enacted their own minimum wage laws that see entry-level hourly jobs paying as much as $15 an hour.

That being said, the current labor market is seeing a rise in pay at traditionally minimum-wage jobs, like fast food restaurants and retail. So even if your state has a minimum wage of $10, many employers are offering up to 50% more average pay plus sign-on bonuses in order to hire and retain their workers.

If you’re searching for jobs for teens on the ZipRecruiter website, you can find jobs that pay higher by filtering job searches and job alerts by salary range.

If you’re working for yourself as a babysitter or tutor, you can set your own price and have flexible hours.

Babysitters, for example, can charge based on a number of factors. These include whether their town has a high cost of living, how many kids are in a home, how old they are and what types of activities they’ll do with the kids. Plus, knowing first aid practices and having certifications like CPR can let them charge more (and be more attractive to parents looking to trust someone with their little ones).
