Steve Harvey Comments On Will Smith Slap

Steve Harvey attended an event at Georgia State University over the weekend and reportedly called Will Smith’s Oscars slap against Chris Rock a “punk move” that resulted in Harvey losing “a lot of respect for him.”  The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported on the event, noting that the “Family Feud” host brought up faith in the discussion.   “I’m a Christian, but I’m really undeveloped,” Harvey began. “I don’t have high-level Christianity. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’m like a 2. That’s the level of Christianity I can work on.”  He continued: “You slap T.D. Jakes, he’ll turn the other cheek. You slap me? If you sit back in your seat, Jada [Will’s wife] would have to move out of the way. That’s the type of Christian I am.”  Rock recently performed alongside his friend and colleague, Dave Chappelle, after he was attacked at the Hollywood Bowl. Both comedians made light of their onstage attacks.   “At least you got smacked by someone of repute,” Chappelle told Rock at a “secret” show at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. “I got smacked by a homeless guy with leaves in his hair.”  Rock then reportedly responded with, “I got smacked by the softest n—– that ever rapped.”

Diddy Returning To Music Business

Sean “Diddy” Combs is officially returning to the music business.  On Tuesday, the Bad Boys Records founder-turned-Ciroc vodka entrepreneur announced that he has signed an exclusive one album deal with Motown Records.  The deal also includes a new record label imprint appropriately titled Love Records, since Diddy changed his name to “Love” in 2017.  “Music has always been my first love,” Combs said in a press release. “Love Records is the next chapter. [It’s] about getting back to the love and making the best music of my life,” he added.   Combs retired from music in 2016, telling Cigar Aficionado magazine that his “No Way Out 2” album would be his last.  “I want to stop at a great place,” he said. “And a final album is a great place to stop. I want to take a victory lap, to do a world tour and really enjoy it one last time. And then I want to do different things and have different experiences.”  He says he’s ready to enjoy the music again, and new label Love Records, “will be dedicated to R&B music and will release singles and collaborative projects from a collective of world-class artists, producers and songwriters” said the release.
**********He didn’t, Diddy???

Mario Batali Not Guilty

Celebrity chef Mario Batali was found not guilty Tuesday at a bench trial on charges of indecent assault and battery related to the alleged groping of a star-struck patron at a Boston restaurant in 2017.  Judge James Stanton noted Batali’s conduct was “not befitting of a public person of his stature” that night five years ago but said his accuser has “significant credibility issues” that supported the defendant’s “contention that her motive was financial gain.”  Batali smiled after the verdict and thanked his attorneys. His accuser hurried out of the courtroom as soon as the judge declared the defendant not guilty.  The verdict came one day after Natali Tene took the stand at Batali’s criminal trial in Boston, testifying that he groped her during an impromptu selfie session.  Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden, in a statement, said the verdict was disappointing and that his office “will not waiver in our support for the victim in this case.”  “It can be incredibly difficult for a victim to disclose a sexual assault,” Hayden said. “When the individual who committed such an abhorrent act is in a position of power or celebrity, the decision to report an assault can become all the more challenging and intimidating.”
*********Yeah!! He’s out on bail and ready to wail!!
*****Like a lot of guys, he’s wondering where he should go to  get his reputation back!! And his career!!!

Mike Tyson Won’t Face Charges

Mike Tyson will not face charges in an incident last month in which he was recorded getting into an altercation with a fellow passenger on a flight at San Francisco International Airport, a California prosecutor announced Tuesday.  San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said he decided not to charge Tyson after reviewing police reports and videos of the confrontation.  “Our decision is that we will not file any charges against Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation,” Wagstaffe said in a statement. “These include the conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no charges be filed in this case. We now deem this case closed.”  The incident unfolded on April 20 while Tyson was seated in first-class on a JetBlue flight at San Francisco International Airport waiting to take off for Florida.  A video obtained by the website TMZ Sports appeared to show a passenger seated behind Tyson repeatedly attempting to speak to the boxer, who became annoyed and told the man to “chill.”
********The “victim” said, “It felt like I get hit in the face by a bone-in ham!!!”

DA Defends Decision On Chappelle’s Attacker

Just days after Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón’s office declined to file felony charges against Dave Chappelle’s alleged attacker, Isaiah Lee, Gascón stood in front of media members to “clear up” what he described as “a substantial level of misinformation and misunderstanding concerning the Dave Chappelle case.”  “In the city of L.A., as it is the case with nine other cities in the county, which amounts for about 50% of the population of the county — we have city prosecutors that handle misdemeanors,” Gascón said on Tuesday. “They have the jurisdiction for misdemeanor prosecution in those jurisdictions, as it is the case of the city of L.A. being the largest one with a population of nearly 4 million people.”  Gascón went on to explain that Chappelle’s case was handled and reviewed by “one of our deputies in our filing team” and said he agreed with the deputy’s “right decision when she determined that the conduct in this particular case was misdemeanor conduct.”  He added that while he believes Lee “needs to be held accountable for his behavior,” ultimately his office didn’t agree that Lee’s tackling of Chappelle on stage at the Hollywood Bowl, “under California law did not, and I repeat, did not amount to felony conduct.”  Gascón, who has come under fire for being lenient on crime since being elected as District Attorney in 2020, not only doubled down on his office’s recommendation to kick the case down to the L.A. city attorney, but explained a multitude of reasons why Lee shouldn’t be charged with a felony — despite an onslaught of pressure to make a stand against similar behavior by charging Lee accordingly.  He told reporters on Tuesday that he “can’t make up” charges that don’t warrant them.   “Mr. Lee was not holding a weapon when he rushed Mr. Chappelle and we can see that by the video,” Gascón told media members. “And we also know that from interviews with witnesses, security quickly separated the two men and Mr. Chappelle was not injured.”
*********Of course, if he charged GASCON with that weapon, THAT would be a felony!!!
*****After the upcoming recall election, L.A. won’t have to put up with this guy much longer!!
******Gascon is a hard-left idiot. His campaign commercials focused on prosecuting the POLICE!!

Fred Savage Allegations

Fred Savage’s approach behind the camera was difficult on his crew, two production veterans who worked alongside Savage tell People Magazine.  He made headlines last week for being fired from executive producing and directing ABC’s The Wonder Years reboot. He had faced allegations of misconduct on the show’s set.  According to the insider, Savage is “quick to anger.” Part of his process includes overshooting, a common practice in the industry but one that the source explains only makes things harder on the crew.  “He works his crews pretty hard by always doing more takes than necessary,” the insider says. “Some directors just overshoot. Sometimes they feel like they didn’t get the performance or want to try another angle or things like that. He overshoots and the days are longer, therefore giving more opportunities to snap at people.”  A second source adds that Savage “can have a temper and occasional outbursts.”  “He hasn’t seemed stressed,” a third source tells PEOPLE, adding that the star spent the weekend with his wife Jennifer Lynn at their West L.A. home. “He seems pretty relaxed and enjoying some time off.”

Pi Wins The Lottery

Math fan Jonathan Ruby of Raleigh, N.C., has won a $192,941 jackpot by picking his numbers based on pi.  The number pi starts with 3.1415. Ruby, a 64-year-old bartender, bought a $1 Cash 5 lottery ticket that had the winning numbers of 3, 14, 15, 31 and 41.  Ruby had earned one of three winning tickets in the drawing, equaling to a third of the $578,823 available to win.  Ruby told lottery officials that he picked his numbers based on pi as the number has appeared throughout his life.  “I kept seeing that number so my karma told me to use it,” he said.  “I even lived at a 314 address as a child,” Ruby continued.
********He finally got his slice of the “pi!!!”

Overdue Vinyl Returned

A pair of vinyl records were returned to a Missouri library more than 60 years after they were checked out.  The Kansas City Public Library said a pair of vinyl records, releases by The Philadelphia Woodwind Quintet and Bela Bartok, recently arrived in the mail along with an apologetic note from David Izzard, who checked them out of the library in 1961.  Izzard wrote he was an “irresponsible young kid with no common sense” when he checked the records out and failed to return them. He said the records traveled with him to Los Angeles, where he had a career writing out scores for multiple TV shows, movies and award shows, before returning to Kansas City with him.  Izzard said he was recently going through old boxes when he rediscovered the records.  “I finally got to this box in my office, and I opened it up and there they were,” Izzard told WDAF-TV. “I thought: ‘Oh man, I’m in trouble now.'”  Library officials said Izzard had nothing to worry about, as the facility did away with late fees in 2019. Prior to that, fines were capped at $2, officials said.

Dog Escapes On Airport Runway

A witness at an airport in Mexico captured video when a dog escaped from baggage handlers and led them on a chase across the tarmac.  The video, filmed at Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport in Guadalajara, Jalisco, shows baggage handlers chasing after a dog that escaped from its crate in transport.  It was unclear whether the plane had just arrived or was preparing to depart when the canine got loose. The filmer said the baggage handlers were eventually able to corral the dog.  See the video HERE.
****The dog was thinking, “Hey!! We’re gonna play chase??? Cool!!!”

Florida Fight

A St. Petersburg woman was arrested Sunday after deputies said she decided to fight dirty — literally.  According to an affidavit, Christine Marie Terman became upset with a man after his chicken pooped on her back patio.  Pinellas County deputies said in response, Terman got a bucket of urine from her bathroom, walked onto the patio, and threw the bucket of urine on the man.  The affidavit said the bucket ended up hitting the man in the face, injuring him.  After being read her rights, Terman admitted to throwing the urine on the man, according to deputies.
*********They told her: “Urine trouble now!!”
******They asked why she did it, and she said, “What was I supposed to do?? This is Florida!!”

The 7 Personalities Of Bad Bosses Who Think They’re Good Bosses

HUFFINGTON POST

1) The Rescuer

This is a bad boss who may seem like a good boss at first. If you have any trouble with a project, they’ll just take over. Any conflict with a client, they’ll deal with it for you.

Realness delivered to your inbox

Consultant Peter Block identified this work archetype as the “rescuer” in his book “The Empowered Manager: Positive Political Skills at Work.” According to Block, the rescuer is someone who is highly sensitive to discomfort and believes “the path to power, influence and gaining some control over the situation is to save other people’s lives.”

Brown said rescuers come from a place of thinking they’re protecting you from failure, and are bad at giving you honest feedback and more responsibilities as a result.

“When you have a rescuer, they pride themselves on being there to support you, so you really don’t have any space not only to make mistakes, but you also have a limited amount of growth,” Brown said. “Because part of rescuing, or being helpful, is a control mechanism for them.”

2) The Politician

The “politician” is good at managing the bosses above them and terrible at managing the people who report directly to them. They are good at public relations for your team, but they lack the will or the skill to be a good team leader.

“The executive team thinks your team is doing a good job, your projects get lauded at company all-hands… but actually this manager is never meeting with you, never giving helpful feedback, or even at all actually involved in the day-to-day,” said Lara Hogan, author of “Resilient Management” and a former vice president of engineering at Kickstarter.

Hogan said this kind of boss can cause bigger issues down the road, because they tend not to find out about team problems that should have been addressed or raised earlier. “Long-term, it often ends in disaster, because this person never did their first responsibility, which is managing the team,” Hogan said.

Her advice if you’re an employee of this kind of boss? Make sure that you build relationships with your manager’s peers, or other people in positions of power, and go to them for feedback and support. The goal is for more people to know what a great job you’re doing. “Spread the surface area of how you’re being managed,” Hogan advised.

3) The Great Manager Who Can’t Manage Up

This is a boss who is great at managing their own team, but is bad at dealing with the bosses above them. They believe in your work, but they lack the office-politics savvy to make sure others in positions of power do, too.

“They listen to you, they are completely involved in your work in a positive way, you trust them, they trust you,” Hogan said. “And then you realize nobody at the upper level has any idea what your team is doing, and you lose headcount. Your road map doesn’t get prioritized, you might get [reorganized].”

Because this boss is bad at lobbying on your team’s behalf, your team might lose out on valuable funding ― and team members might not get promotions or raises they deserve, since there’s usually more than one person who has a say in who gets these career rewards, Hogan said.

4) The People-Pleaser

You may sometimes benefit from a people-pleasing boss’ attempts to sway you to their side, but ultimately this manager is a hazard to work for. They believe getting ahead means giving others what they want, even when accountability is needed to maintain trust on a team.

They’ll make many verbal commitments, but they won’t follow through to make a tangible difference. “The people pleasers I’ve worked with never actually do anything, because it’s all words,” Hogan said.

Managers who get too invested in “being nice” are bosses who rule by “ruinous empathy,” as Kim Scott writes in “Radical Candor: Be a Kick-Ass Boss Without Losing Your Humanity.” Per Scott, these bosses “create the kind of work environment where ‘being nice’ is prioritized at the expense of critiquing, and therefore, improving actual performance.” Without necessary criticism, your career is likely to stall and you may even get fired.

5) The Numbers Boss

A “numbers boss” becomes an ineffective leader when every insight and decision has to be backed by data or a pattern.

If you need numbers to make every decision, you cannot make long-term plans. “I’ve worked with managers who require that every single thing be an A/B test, whether or not it makes sense ― to the point where no work could get done, because everything needed an experiment to come back,” Hogan said. “The person who is obsessed with data […] doesn’t have a long-term plan. Everything is short-term, numbers-based decisions, which means you never end up with a vision.”

Creativity can also be a weakness for numbers people. As Brown put it: “They’ll say they want creativity, but how are you supposed to have creativity if everything you do has to be proven?”

6) The Lone Wolf

In her e-book “How To Be A Successful First Time Manager: Identify Your Leadership Style, Lay The Groundwork for a Positive Team Culture, and Give Better Feedback,” Brown writes that “lone wolf” bosses are known for their deep need for autonomy, are easily misunderstood and have limited and cordial interactions with others.

Brown says the benefit of working under a lone wolf is that they have a strong work ethic and they value assertiveness in team members. She said they often thrive at startups where succeeding means taking on multiple roles at once.

But the downside is that this rebel boss often changes plans at the last minute, creating tension on their teams. “What makes them toxic is everyone will get together in a team and make a decision, and the lone wolf later on will be like, ‘No, I’m going to [do] this.’”

7) The Know-It-All

While numbers people want you to make all decisions based on data, know-it-alls want you to make decisions based on just their knowledge. They often give feedback like “Well if I were you, I would have done it like this,” or “Well, it only took me three months,” Brown said. Know-it-alls are unable to account for times when their information is limited or outdated.

On some level, what the know-it-all wants is a clone who works and thinks exactly as they do. They want you to develop your career how they did it.

“They are people who you constantly feel like you’re in comparison mode with, but you don’t feel like they are accounting for the fact that, one, you are not them, and two, that the circumstances and environment may be different,” Brown said. “You always feel like you fall short because you’re not doing it their way.”
