Prince Philip’s Cause Of Death Revealed

The Duke of Edinburgh, who died on April 9 at the age of 99, died of “old age,” according to a death certificate obtained by The Telegraph.  Sir Huw Thomas, who is the head of the royal medical household, certified Philip’s death certificate. Philip’s cause of death was declared as “old age” and is an accepted description for a cause of death if the patient is over 80 years old and whose health has been recognized as on a “gradual decline” after having been cared for over a long stretch of time, the outlet reports.  Additionally, Sir Thomas’ analysis proves there was no other disease or injury that contributed to Philip’s death. This means the heart condition that caused the duke to undergo surgery in March did not contribute to his death, the outlet states.  His private secretary, Brigadier Archie Miller-Bakewell, registered Philip’s death with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead on April 13. According to the Telegraph, his full name on his death certificate is listed as “His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh formerly known as Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark formerly known as Philip Mountbatten.”

Prince William Will Modernize The Monarchy

Prince William is second in line to the British throne following his father Prince Charles.  “William is already thinking about the future of the monarchy and the changes he’ll make,” a source told Us Weekly on Wednesday. “While he respects protocol, he plans to modernize some aspects and is making it his mission to be more relatable than previous generations.”  While the Duke of Cambridge “won’t be revealing everything about the personal life” anytime soon, he has gotten more comfortable in his senior role over the years.  “William accepts that being in the spotlight is part of the job, and is fine with it,” claimed the royal insider. “He takes his future role as king seriously and sees it as a great honor and privilege to be in his position. The monarchy and his family will always come first.”

New Jeopardy Host Close To Being Picked

Roughly six months after longtime “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek died, an executive producer on the show is speaking out about the process of finding his replacement.   Speaking on a recent episode of The Wall Street Journal’s podcast “The Journal,” executive producer, and former guest host, Mike Richards, revealed some details about the lengthy and thorough process that Sony Entertainment is using to fill the massive shoes left by Trebek.   He notes that, when Season 38 kicks off in late July or early August, he fully expects it to do so with Trebek’s permanent replacement at the helm.   “It’s going to come down to the heads of Sony (Entertainment) to make that decision, ultimately, and it’ll come down to testing,” the 45-year-old said (via “Today”). “They’ve been a part of it. They know what’s going on in the studio. They’re watching the feed, the tapings. It’s very extensive. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever been a part of, as far as testing in its size and scope.”  Since Trebek died, guest hosts like Richards, former “Jeopardy!” champ Ken Jennings, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Katie Couric, Aaron Rodgers and more have filled in as guests. Currently, stars like Bill Whitaker, Mayim Bialik, Savannah Guthrie and LeVar Burton have been tapped for guest hosting runs in the future.

Meghan Markle Wins Copyright Claim

Meghan Markle has won her remaining copyright claim against a British tabloid over the publication of a personal letter she wrote to her estranged father.  On Wednesday, a High Court judge sided with the Duchess of Sussex’s attorneys regarding the remaining parts of the copyright claim, after lawyers representing Queen Elizabeth II refuted the defense’s claims that the letter’s copyright belonged to the Crown.  Associated Newspapers Limited, the publisher of the Mail on Sunday and the MailOnline website, previously said it believed that Jason Knauf, the former communications secretary for the William and Meghan, was a co-author of the letter. They argued that this meant the letter belonged to the Crown.  However, Meghan’s lawyer Ian Mill told the court that Knauf’s attorney confirmed he did not write the letter and said that the defense’s case on the ownership of the copyright in the letter “has been shown to be completely baseless.”  She already won most of her claim for misuse of private information and copyright infringement against Associated Newspapers Ltd. She sued over five 2019 articles that published large portions of a letter she wrote to Thomas Markle about her 2018 royal wedding to Prince Harry.  In February, a judge ruled in her favor, saying the publishing of large parts of the handwritten letter was “manifestly excessive” and unlawful. The judge granted the duchess’s request for a summary judgment to settle the case, meaning she won that part of the case without having to go to trial.

Carole Baskin Starts Crypto Currency

Tiger King,” star Carole Baskin is getting into the crypto game with a cat-themed “alt coin.”   Her Big Cat Rescue has issued a new altcoin called $CAT, which she explained in a press release, “is not a currency for investment, but rather is a purr-ency of our fans to show their love for the cats.”  The coin, described as a “fan token,” will be used to purchase walks at the sanctuary, cat themed merchandise and access to conversations with Baskin and her crew.  “Future plans include a big cat metaverse for virtual visits with the cats … and NFTs which are launching in about two weeks,” says the enterprising release.  The coin is listed on Rally.IO at around $7 but it is not an investment tool.  “I’m investigating cryptocurrencies because I am concerned about the volume of US dollars that are being printed and distributed with nothing to back them up,” Baskin adds.

Meghan Accused Of Plagiarizing Book

Meghan Markle’s new kids’ book is already getting panned before publication — with online critics accusing it of looking like a rip-off of another work already available in stores.  “Before you run out and waste money on the book by Harry’s wife, read ‘The Boy on the Bench’ by Corrinne Averiss and Gabriel Alborozo … The original,” one Twitter user wrote of the apparent likeness.  Dozens of others soon complained on Twitter that the Duchess of Sussex’s book, “The Bench,” didn’t only share a similar title to UK author Averiss’ 2018 book — but also similar artwork from Christian Robinson.  Many others insisted the storyline — which Markle said “started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born” — also sounded too similar to be true.  “I’ll wager a bet that Corrinne’s book is in Archie’s collection. That’s where her idea came from. I don’t believe that this is all her own thinking or reflects her idyllic life whatsoever,” a critic claimed.  The attacks were soon dismissed by the very author the duchess was accused of copying.  “Reading the description and published excerpt of the Duchess’s new book, this is not the same story or the same theme as ‘The Boy on the Bench.’ I don’t see any similarities,” Averiss insisted on Twitter.

Officers Called In Over Plush Toy

Animal services officers in Iowa were called to an apartment complex on a report of an alligator on the loose, but they arrived to find the reported reptile was a life-sized plush toy.  The Animal Rescue League of Iowa said animal services officers were dispatched to the apartment complex in Des Moines on a reported of a 4-to-5-foot loose gator in the parking lot.  “Residents of a Des Moines apartment complex walked out and were startled to see a large reptile resting in the parking lot,” the ARL said in a Facebook post.  “They immediately reported it and waited anxiously until our Animal Services Officer arrived. While their fear was real, the alligator, it turns out, was not.”  The alleged alligator actually was a 4-foot-long plush toy.

Guy Moves The Border Of France and Belgium

A Belgian farmer moved a 330-pound stone out of the path of his tractor and unwittingly changed the border between Belgium and France by 7 1/2 feet.  Mayor David Lavaux, of Erquelinnes, said historians walking the area in which stones had been placed to mark the border between Belgium and France under the 1820 Treaty of Kortrijk noticed one of the stones had been moved into Bousignies-sur-Roc, France.  Lavaux said a local farmer apparently moved the 330-pound stone out of the path of his tractor and did not return it to its original location.  “Belgium and our municipality are enlarged; the French don’t agree, obviously. Gonna have to put things back in place,” Lavaux wrote in a Facebook post.  Lavaux said the farmer will not face any legal consequences if he returns the stone to its original position.  “I was happy, my town was bigger,” Lavaux joked to French TV station TF1. “But the mayor of Bousignies-sur-Roc didn’t agree.”  See the photo HERE.

Wallet Found With $45,000 Cash!

Flight attendants with Vietnam Airlines were able to reunite a passenger with a wallet that contained $45,000 cash, as well as Vietnamese currency and other valuable personal items.  The airline said flight attendants cleaning out a plane after an April 24 flight from Hanoi to Da Nang discovered a wallet left behind by a passenger.  The wallet contained $45,000 cash, as well as the equivalent of $2,169 in Vietnamese currency. The airline said the wallet also had the passenger’s ATM card and other personal documents.  The flight attendants brought the wallet to the airport’s lost and found counter, which was able to identify and contact the passenger.  Vietnam Airlines said the flight attendants and lost and found counter workers later received a thank you letter from the grateful passenger.

Angry Man Builds Wall Of Poo!

A man has reportedly retaliated against a neighbor with cow dung in a small Michigan town.  Wayne Lambarth, the neighbor who claims a 250-foot wall of manure was erected following a property line dispute he had with a fellow farm owner last year.  The unusual divider separates the two properties in Lodi Township, a civil township situated inside Washtenaw County, Mich.  Aside from serving as a physical divider, Lambarth and his tenants told FOX 2 the manure wall comes with a powerful stench.  The farmer who built the wall, whose identity has remained anonymous, denied the organic structure is a “poop wall.”  “It’s a compost fence,” he reportedly told FOX 2.  Composting is the act of adding organic material to soil to help plants grow, which can include food or yard waste, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

10 Of The Most Interesting, Odd Places People Have Gotten A COVID Vaccine

Huffington Post

  1. In A Former Woolworth Store

Nicolás Esparza said he got his COVID-19 vaccine at a former Woolworth in the Wonderland of the Americas Mall in San Antonio, Texas.

“I walked into the mall, and staff from the local medical center were directing people to different storefronts depending on first or second dosage and vaccine type. My first and second doses were both at the old Woolworths. For me, the unsettling part was the fact this was all happening next to the few small stores that remained open. It was an odd juxtaposition of people out shopping and people who were getting vaccinated. Like, one activity is to prevent the spread, and the other hastens it. It was just weird.” ― Nicolás Esparza, broadcast coordinator

  1. At An Abandoned JCPenney

Masks were placed over old photos of fashion models at the abandoned JCPenney where Udi Greenberg received a vaccine.

“My vaccination took place at the JCPenney that’s at the neighboring town, West Lebanon, New Hampshire. The experience was somewhat surreal: Standing in line in an abandoned and empty massive store while people [received] directions and shots from men in uniforms (National Guard) and masks felt post-apocalyptic. But it was also very efficiently organized. Everything proceeded quickly and smoothly.” ― Udi Greenberg, historian

  1. In A Fancy Hotel Ballroom

Brittany Lute got her coronavirus vaccine at the Cleveland Clinic Intercontinental Hotel.

“First time I have felt such hope in a long time. Got my vaccine in a ballroom, so I’m feeling extra bougie. But most of all, I am feeling thankful.” ― Brittany Lute, registered nurse

  1. In A College Football Stadium

Elsbeth Russell waits after getting her COVID-19 vaccine at a stadium at the University of Florida.

“I got mine in the Champions Club at the University of Florida’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. As an [alumna] of the University of Florida, I’ve been to the stadium many times to cheer on the Gators during football games. I would have never imagined being there to get a vaccine during a global pandemic.” ― Elsbeth Russell, content marketing manager

  1. In A Six Flags Parking lot

“The best experience I’ve had at a Six Flags,” Amanda Ach said of her COVID-19 vaccine at the amusement park in Bowie, Maryland.

“There were two entrances ― one for vaccines and one for people going to the park, which was funny. We drove through several thousand cones to the overflow parking lot and got in line. We drove up, rolled down the window, and got the shot without getting out of the car. Then they had us wait for 15 minutes for observation –– they tell you to honk your horn if you don’t feel well. … It was super easy, extremely well-organized, and definitely the best experience I’ve had at a Six Flags.” ― Amanda Ach

  1. By The Concession Stand At A Movie Theater

Katie Jones got her vaccine inside a Wilmington, North Carolina movie theater that was converted into a temporary COVID-19 clinic. There was still candy in the concession stand cases.

“It was simultaneously funny, surreal and touching to get my vaccine in a building intended for such a different purpose. I have no interest in going to a movie in public before it’s safe, but being in the theater getting my dose next to a dormant candy case reminded me of one of the many reasons why I’m on board with everything we can do to stop the pandemic.” ― Katie Jones, technical writing and knowledge manager

  1. Inside A Concert Venue

“It made me hopeful again to think that I might be enjoying fun experiences with the people I love the most in the same place I was getting a life-saving vaccine,” said Karen Hogan.

“It was surreal to be vaccinated at the Theater of Living Arts [in Philadelphia] since the last time I was there was for a concert that I attended with friends. The pandemic took so much away from us all that, frankly, it made me hopeful again to think that I might be enjoying fun experiences with the people I love the most in the same place I was getting a life-saving vaccine.” ― Karen Hogan, commercial development strategist

  1. At A Former Greyhound Racetrack

The former Tampa greyhound track where mass vaccination is now underway.

“I received my Pfizer vaccinations in the parking lot of a former greyhound racing track-turned-poker room and simulcast [in Tampa]. The site was once the location of a grand hotel whose main attraction was the ‘curative waters’ of nearby Sulphur Springs, but the springs and the river have been fouled from years of pollution and runoff, and the hotel long demolished. The kind of dystopian transformation the place has undergone over the years seems to fit well within the context of this pandemic, but it was nonetheless a surreal experience to enter the chamber of FEMA tents lined with military personnel to be vaccinated.” ― Jeannie Mounger, Ph.D. candidate at the University of South Florida

  1. Inside Former Medical Barracks

Nicole Anderson said Harborview Medical Center’s barracks in Seattle were like a “hollowed-out house.”

“My vax site was barracks for doctors for the next-door hospital. The hospital is still there, but obviously, there are no beds and stuff in the [barracks] building anymore. It’s essentially a hollowed-out house. It’s at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The shots were given in what I assume were bedrooms, which I think made it easier for them to have privacy for each patient. It also made it very easy to figure out where to go since there were more walls, etc. to guide us in a loop. I think it was perfect for appointment vaccinations.” ― Nicole Anderson

  1. At A Rural Fire Department

The Glascock County Fire Department in Gibson, Georgia, is where Charlsie Kate Paine got her first COVID-19 vaccine.

“The earliest sign-up available to me was in Gibson, Georgia, 90 miles away. I was so excited to get an appointment, I didn’t mind driving. I received the shot in my car, after which a sheriff’s deputy [directed] me to a parking spot and said he would let me know when my 15 minutes were up!” ― Charlsie Kate Paine, attorney
