Baby Archie Turns One!
The royal family is celebrating the first birthday of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The Kensington Palace Instagram page, the official account of Prince William and Kate Middleton, featured a group photo of the royal family. “Wishing Archie a very happy first birthday today,” the caption said. The royal family Instagram page, the official account of Queen Elizabeth II, also released a photo of Markle introducing Archie to Elizabeth and Prince Philip alongside her mother Doria Ragland. Archie is Elizabeth’s eighth great-grandchild and seventh in line to the throne. Harry and Markle got married in May 2018 and announced that they were expecting their first child in October. For Archie’s birthday, Markle read children’s book Duck! Rabbit! Harry recorded the reading which was posted to the Save The Children U.K. Instagram page in support of the charity. Prince Harry Sells Off Hunting Weapons
Prince Harry has reportedly sold his prized handmade rifles worth more than $60,000 after he quit hunting out of respect for his actress wife Meghan Markle. Harry has unloaded the two weapons — from a British gunmaker Purdey — by selling them to another hunter in a private deal, according to The Sun. Harry, who learned to hunt as a child, has not joined his colleagues at recent game shooting events and is believed to have quit hunting altogether due to Markle’s opposition to the practice. Harry sold the guns five months ago, a friend of the anonymous buyer told the paper. “He bought them because he wanted them, not because they belonged to Harry,” the friend said. “But he was quite chuffed when he found out.” Harry went on a wild boar hunt with his friends in Germany while engaged to Meghan in 2017. Tom Cruise Wants To Film Movie In Space
Tom Cruise is working with NASA to develop a film shot in outer space aboard the International Space Station. NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine confirmed the news on Twitter on Tuesday. “NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station,” the tweet read. “We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA’s ambitious plans a reality.” The tweet also contained a picture of the International Space Station. While Cruise routinely engages in risky stunts for the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, Deadline reported that this film will not be associated with those movies and that Elon Musk’s SpaceX is also in the mix. According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the film is “in the early stages of liftoff.” As of right now, no film studio is on board, per the outlet.

Studio Listed With Bathroom In The Kitchen
A studio apartment listed for rent in Australia is drawing attention online for an unusual design feature — the bathroom and kitchen are separated by only a glass wall. The studio apartment, located in the Surry Hills area of Sydney, places the kitchen and bathroom side by side, with the toilet and shower in full view from the cooking area. The glass walls of the bathroom are partially frosted for privacy, but a barrier located right in front of the toilet is completely transparent. Emma Mattiuzzo of Exclusive Real Estate, which is listing the residence, told listing website Domain the glass walls of the bathroom are designed to “give the illusion of more space.” She said there has been some interest in the studio, which is listed for $245 a week.

5 Year Old Steal Car To Buy Lamborghini
The Utah Highway Patrol said a trooper conducting a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver instead found a 5-year-old driver seeking to purchase a Lamborghini. The highway patrol said in a Twitter post that a trooper conducted a traffic stop in Weber County on “what he thought was an impaired driver,” but the driver of the vehicle turned out to be a 5-year-old boy who made off with his parents’ car. The boy, who was pulled over on the 25th Street off-ramp of southbound Interstate 15, told the trooper he had taken his parents’ car after getting into an argument with his mother, who told him she would not buy him a Lamborghini. The child told the trooper he had intended to drive to California to buy a luxury vehicle for himself. “He might have been short on the purchase amount, as he only had $3 dollars in his wallet,” the UHP said. Aggressive Chicken
A Louisiana police department is warning residents to beware of an “aggressive chicken” that has been “terrorizing bank customers” at a drive-through and walk-up ATM. The Walker Police Department said officers who responded to a report of a chicken attack at a bank on Walker South Road were told by employees that the foul fowl has been chasing customers and attempting to get into their cars for several days. The department’s Facebook post said the chicken has also “failed to engage in proper social distancing.” Officers were unable to locate the chicken, which the department said “apparently anticipated the imminent arrival of law enforcement and fled on foot from the scene.” “The chicken is wanted on charges of assault, attempted battery, attempted burglary, terrorizing and ignoring an order of the governor,” the post said.

Cougar On The Loose In Chicago
A resident of a Chicago suburb captured security camera footage of a large cat that an expert said could be a wandering cougar. Marilynn Sullivan said she went to shut off her security cameras Friday morning at her home in Gurnee when she noticed the camera’s motion sensor had been triggered. Sullivan reviewed the footage captured by the camera and saw what appeared to be a large cat in her fenced-in back yard. “I looked at it and saw what I thought was a large cougar,” Sullivan told CBS Chicago. “I looked at the picture and freaked out. I’ve seen coyotes but they have long noses and this has a big cat face.” Bill Zeigler, an expert with Chicago’s Brookfield Zoo, said the animal in the blurry footage appears to be too large to be a bobcat. “This looks like a heavily furred — which make sense given a winter coat — puma or cougar,” he told WGN-TV.

8 Stats That Show How Coronavirus Has Changed Our Spending Habits

- A Third Of Americans Are Stress-Spending
With a global pandemic at hand, it’s no surprise that many people are feeling more stressed out than usual. There are many different coping strategies for stress, and for some, it’s spending money.
A recent survey by Credit Karma found that 35% of respondents made impulse buys to deal with stress during the coronavirus.
Among those who said they’ve made impulse purchases, close to half (45%) said they spend money because of stress at least once a week. Another 17% make impulse buys daily.
The survey also found that nearly one in five (18%) respondents are actually spending more now than they were before the pandemic.
- Entertainment And Alcohol Make Up Half Of All Nonessential Spending
Though you’re probably spending less money going out to bars and movies (like, none at all), there’s a good chance your spending on other escapist activities has increased.
Americans are spending the most nonessential money on entertainment (29%) and alcohol (23%) right now, according to a survey by WalletHub. Eighteen percent of respondents admitted that they’re actually overspending on nonessentials as well.
- Online Shopping Is Up 60% Over Last Year
With more time stuck at home and most nonessential stores closed down, Americans have taken their shopping online. Online sales of consumer packaged goods are up 60% over the same week last year, according to Nielsen data for the week ending April 25.
Of the items purchased online, food is up the most: 86% for the one-week period ending April 25 versus the same week in 2019. That’s followed by household care (up 51%), health and beauty care (up 49%), pet care (up 24%) and baby care (up 23%).
- Hand Sanitizer Sales Grew More Than Any Other Item In Stores
Though we’re forced to do more shopping online, essential businesses are still open to the public ― and the one item that’s seen the biggest surge in sales at physical stores is hand sanitizer.
Hand sanitizer takes the number one spot for in-store week-over-week sales growth. Last week, it held the third position but rose as people restocked their health and safety products. Sales of the stuff have also increased a whopping 420% over a year ago, according to Nielsen.
Behind hand sanitizer, the fastest-growing in-store purchases are oat milk (up 308% over the previous year), fresh meat alternatives (up 224%), baking powder (up 170%) and aerosol disinfectants (up 158%).
- Frozen Items Are The Most-Purchased Foods
As Americans worry about limiting their trips to the grocery store and potential disruptions to food supply chains, many are focused on buying foods that keep for a long time.
Not surprisingly, frozen foods are the top growing in-store purchases (up 47% year over year), according to Nielsen data. That’s followed by meat (up 41%) and dairy (up 32%) as consumers continue to load up on food staples.
- Spending On Transportation Is Way Down
Not only are we spending more time in isolation, but attitudes toward public transportation have also shifted considerably in the past month, according to a survey by IBM.
More than 20% of respondents who regularly relied on buses, subways or trains said they no longer will, while another 28% said they will likely use public transportation less often.
Ride-sharing apps are also suffering. More than half of those surveyed who had used ride-sharing apps and services said they will stop using them completely or use them less. Only 24% said they will stop using taxis and other traditional car services.
Just over 17% of respondents said they will rely on their personal vehicles to get around, with about one in four saying that that will be their exclusive mode of transportation going forward.
Many of those who were in the market for a new car are now waiting on the purchase, with about a quarter saying they plan to hold off for more than six months.
- 40% Of Spenders Rely On Contactless Payment
There have been concerns over physical cash and its potential to spread the coronavirus. In light of this, consumers are turning to technology to mitigate their risk.
Nearly 40% of respondents said they are likely to use contactless payment options via their mobile device or credit card when shopping, according to the IBM survey.
- A Quarter Of Shoppers Are Buying More From Local Businesses
With mandatory shutdown orders for nonessential businesses, even major retailers are feeling the pinch. Smaller mom and pop shops are especially hurting financially, which has prompted some people to prioritize shopping locally.
Some 25% of respondents in the IBM survey said they are now shopping more often at locally owned stores and buying more locally made, grown or sourced products.
