Shonda Rhimes Left ABC Over Disneyland Tickets
Shonda Rhimes is finally set to debut her first series for Netflix under her lucrative development deal. And she wouldn’t want it any other way. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about her decision to switch from her home of 15 years, ABC, to the streaming service, Rhimes revealed that the pace and constraints of network television had become too stringent for her life. “I felt like I was dying,” she explained. “Like I’d been pushing the same ball up the same hill in the exact same way for a really long time.” Her breaking point, however, didn’t involve a meeting or a writers’ room, even if one ABC executive was determined to “drive down the price tag” of her contract renegotiations. Rather, in 2017, Rhimes asked for an additional all-inclusive pass to Disneyland (one of her perks for working at the network) to give to her visiting sister. After receiving some pushback (“We never do this,” she was repeatedly told), Rhimes got the pass, but it failed to work when her sister, with her children and nanny, arrived at the park. Rhimes proceeded to call a “high-ranking executive” at the company to figure out the issue, but he showed no interest in giving television’s most prominent showrunner a $154 ticket to the park. “Don’t you have enough?” he allegedly responded. Rhimes collected herself, hung up, and called her lawyer with a simple directive: She was going to move to Netflix, and she’d “find new representatives” if that couldn’t be accomplished.

Legally Blonde 3 On The Way
MGM announced a May 2022 release date for the new Legally Blonde sequel in a tweet Tuesday. “Elle Woods is back! Legally Blonde 3 coming May 2022. We rest our case. #LegallyBlonde3 #ElleWoods @ReeseW,” the post reads. The film features Reese Witherspoon, who will reprise her role as Elle Woods and serve as a producer. Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor will co-write the script. Witherspoon played Elle, a sorority girl who attends Harvard Law School and becomes a lawyer, in the original Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003). The actress confirmed plans for Legally Blonde 3 in a video in 2018. Witherspoon said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2019 that the principals involved in Legally Blonde 3 were “meeting about” the project. Witherspoon and the Legally Blonde cast, including Jennifer Coolidge and Luke Wilson, reunited Tuesday during a virtual event. The stars reflected on the film’s legacy ahead of its 20th anniversary.

Fast & Furious Movies To End
The “Fast & Furious” franchise is almost at the finish line. The series, starring Vin Diesel, is reportedly ending after two more films to be directed by Justin Lin, according to multiple outlets, making the total number of movies in the franchise 11. The first film, “The Fast & the Furious,” premiered in 2001, and since then the franchise has grossed over $5.89 billion at the global box office, The Hollywood Reporter said. The latest movie, “F9” directed by Lin, was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic but is slated to be released Memorial Day weekend 2021. “The Fate of the Furious,” the street racing epic’s last film that came out in 2017, grossed $1.23 billion globally and created another spinoff, focusing on Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s characters, titled “Hobbs & Shaw.” Besides Diesel, the original films helped launch the careers of Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang and Gal Gadot. The series also welcomed actors Charlize Theron, Djimon Hounsou and John Cena as the plots shifted more towards heists and international espionage.

No More Charlie Brown Specials on Television
Charlie Brown and its holiday specials will not air on television this year because Apple TV+ earned the rights in a new partnership. This is the first time the show is being taken off the air since its premiere on CBS in 1966 followed by its run on ABC since 2001. Viewers will have to watch Charlie Brown on Apple TV+ from now on. On Monday, the streaming service announced its exclusive rights to the cartoon in a new partnership with WildBrain, Peanuts Worldwide and Lee Mendelson Film Productions. AppleTV+ is $4.99 a month, although viewers will be able to enjoy the “Peanuts” holiday specials for free on select days, the company revealed. “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” premiered on the streaming service on Oct. 19 and will be available for free from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1. “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” is coming to Apple TV+ on Nov. 18 and will be available for free from Nov. 25 to Nov. 27. “A Charlie Brown Christmas” will debut on Dec. 4 and will be available for free from Dec. 11 until Dec. 13. The streaming service is also working on more holiday specials for Mother’s Day, Earth Day, New Year’s Eve and back to school.

Phil Collins’ Ex Takes Over His Mansion
Phil Collins and his ex-wife Orianne Cevey are in a standoff, according to a new report. He is fighting to take back control of his $33 million beachfront Miami mansion which she is allegedly occupying with her new husband, per the Miami Herald, citing legal documents. Cevey reportedly broke up with Collins via text message back in August and then went to Las Vegas and married her musician boyfriend. They returned to Miami and allegedly refuse to leave the mansion, and they have reportedly hired four armed guards to patrol the property and changed all the security codes, the Miami Herald reports. In addition, the outlet further reports that the couple has allegedly blocked surveillance cameras as well as barred real estate agents from showing the home. The docs state the couple is allegedly “threatening, implicitly and explicitly, to prolong their unlawful occupation of the property through force” even though the property is “100 percent” owned by Collins. “An injunction is urgently needed to end an armed occupation and takeover of the Phil Collins home by his ex girlfriend and her new husband, the defendants in the action,” the suit reportedly further claims. The musician is reportedly worried about the condition of his property and valuable memorabilia inside.

Bill Cosby Gets New Prison Mugshot
Bill Cosby is doing better behind bars than his creepy new mugshot might suggest, his team said. He was seen smiling and using a telephone on a virtual call with his publicist, Andrew Wyatt, in a new image released after the mugshot showed him looking disheveled in the Collegeville, Pa., prison. “We are posting this to reassure his family and supporters that he is doing ok during this pandemic,” his reps wrote Tuesday on his Twitter. Prison officials recently updated Cosby’s mug shot, which is done routinely as inmates age at the maximum-security State Correctional Institution. In the mug shot taken Sept. 4, the 83-year-old former funnyman flashed an eerie smile and had unruly white hair. See the photo HERE.

Miley Cyrus Says She Saw A UFO
In a new Interview, Miley Cyrus claims she once saw a UFO and made eye contact with its driver. “I was driving through San Bernardino with my friend, and I got chased down by some sort of UFO,” she told Interview magazine. “I’m pretty sure about what I saw, but I’d also bought weed wax from a guy in a van in front of a taco shop, so it could have been the weed wax.” Cyrus went to explain that the UFO resembled a “flying snowplow” and was “glowing yellow.” She continued, “I did see it flying, and my friend saw it, too. There were a couple of other cars on the road and they also stopped to look, so I think what I saw was real.” She says that she didn’t feel threatened by the encounter and even made eye contact with the being sitting in the driver’s seat. “I think that’s what really shook me, looking into the eyes of something that I couldn’t quite wrap my head around,” she confessed, adding that the experience left her feeling disturbed. “I was shaken for, like, five days. It f—ked me up,” she said. “I couldn’t really look at the sky the same. I thought they might come back.”

Raccoons Break Into Bank
Animal rescuers in California made an early morning visit to a bank to chase away an unusual pair of “masked bandits” — young raccoons. The Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA said personnel responded to the Chase Bank branch in Redwood City after receiving a call from a bank customer who spotted the animals through a window while using an ATM outside the building. “It’s not every day an animal organization gets called to deal with a bank break in, but since the bank robbers were masked bandits of the wildlife kind, we were indeed the appropriate responders,” PHS/SPCA spokeswoman Buffy Martin Tarbox said in a statement. She said the raccoons were reluctant to leave. “The bank managers let our rescue staff into the bank, and after about 10 minutes of chasing the raccoons around the bank, we were finally able to safely shoo them outside. They apparently didn’t want to leave the bank,” she said. See the video HERE.

You Can Rent An Island For Thanksgiving
An accommodation-finding website is offering Thanksgiving revelers the chance to get away for the week of the holiday on “Friendsgiving Island,” a private island off the Florida coast. Hotels.com said “Friendsgiving Island” would normally cost $1,400 per night, but it is being offered for $50 per night per person for a group of six from Nov. 14-21. The island features a three-bedroom house and a boat that will be available for use during the seven-night stay on the island. The offer, available on a first-come, first-serve basis starting at 10 a.m. Oct. 27, also includes a private chef to prepare a full Thanksgiving dinner. “We’ve been inspired by how people have adapted their travel plans throughout the pandemic, taking trips closer to home and staying at our vacation rental properties,” said Josh Belkin, vice president, global brand Hotels.com. “Spending time with family and friends over the holidays may look a little different this year, which is why Hotels.com is letting you reserve an entire private island to keep those yearly traditions like Friendsgiving.”

Tea Bag Saves The Space Station
The crew of the International Space Station plugged a longstanding air leak after locating the source with the help of a tea bag. Russian space agency Roscosmos said the station had been experiencing a mysterious air leak since September 2019, but the leak was minor enough that fixing it wasn’t considered a priority until the leak rate increased in August. Roscosmos said the source of the leak was finally found when cosmonaut Anatoly Ivanishin broke open a tea bag, allowing leaves to float free in the transfer chamber of the Zvezda Service Module area of the station. The crew sealed off the area and monitored the leaves on video cameras, noting that the tiny tea fragments were floating toward a scratch in the wall that was then confirmed to be the source of the leak. The leak was patched Monday using Kapton tape.

Woman Reunited With Missing Cat
Pennsylvania woman was reunited with her beloved cat five months after the feline was feared dead in a house fire. Wanda Humphries said her cat, Hope, was believed to have died in the April fire that destroyed her Rankin home and also claimed the lives of her dog and another cat. Humphries was shocked when she received a call from personnel at Humane Animal Rescue saying Hope had been found. Employees said Hope had been brought in as a stray Oct. 14 after being picked up by Pittsburgh Animal Care and Control. The shelter scanned the cat for a microchip and found Humphries’ contact information. Humphries and Hope were reunited after five months apart. The shelter said the reunion should serve as a reminder to have pets microchipped.
