Kate Middleton Impresses The Queen
Queen Elizabeth II believes the monarchy’s future is in good hands. On Wednesday, palace insiders alleged to Us Weekly that Prince William’s wife, Kate Middleton, has successfully proved to the reigning monarch that she’s prepared to take on the role of queen consort someday. “Over time, Kate has proved to Elizabeth that she can be trusted and they’ve developed a great relationship,” a source claimed to the outlet. “Elizabeth feels confident that Kate will make a great queen.” Another insider alleged that while Middleton was initially “uneasy in the spotlight,” she has become a “fearless” public figure and “knows [the protocols] like the back of her hand.” “During the early days as a royal, being around Elizabeth made her nervous,” the source explained. “She was so desperate to impress.”

Tina Turner Sells Her Music Catalog
Tina Turner has sold rights to her music catalog that spans six decades, including hits “What’s Love Got to Do With It” and “The Best,” to BMG, the music company announced Tuesday. The deal means that her name, image and the artist’s and writer’s shares of her recordings — which have altogether sold more than 100 million records — are now owned by the media giant. BMG said it will be a partner with Turner in her music interests, and Warner Music will continue to be Turner’s record company. “Tina Turner’s musical journey has inspired hundreds of millions of people around the world and continues to reach new audiences,” said BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch in a news release. “We are honored to take on the job of managing Tina Turner’s musical and commercial interests. It is a responsibility we take seriously and will pursue diligently. She is truly and simply, the best.” BMG did not disclose how much the deal was worth, but, according to BBC, industry sources said the sales figure could be north of $50 million.

How Kathy Hilton Used To Track Down Paris
Kathy Hilton revealed that she used to call the New York Post to track down her older daughter, Paris Hilton, whenever she was out partying and nowhere to be found. “I used to call the city desk at the New York Post. I would call the city desk and say at one in the morning, ‘Excuse me, hi, it’s Kathy Hilton. Uh, do you by any chance know Paris, where she is right now?’” Kathy recalled on SiriusXM’s “Lunch with Bruce” podcast. “Usually, they’d be able to track exactly. ‘She was seen at 11:47 [p.m.] or 12:43 [a.m.] at O Bar or this [spot].’” “This is the way I lived for years,” she continued. “My husband [Rick Hilton] had to get up and work in the morning. So eventually he’d go to sleep. But I was up waiting all night.” Kathy added that she was “actually worried” about Paris for a good while, as she sometimes wouldn’t come home for days at a time. “She was sneaking out and she’d go missing and I wouldn’t be able to find her,” Kathy remembered. “Let’s put it this way — it got very out of control and I was scared for her. And my husband was very scared for her. And, you know, those nightclubs go on all night.”

Angelina Jolie Sells Off Her Share Of Estate
Angelina Jolie has sold off her share of the $164 million French estate she co-owns with ex-husband Brad Pitt. Their custody battle rages on, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that she’s offloaded her stake in their Chateau Miraval winery in Correns, France. She reportedly sold the shares to wine group Tenute del Mondo, a faction of the Stoli Group, which also owns Masseto and Ornellaia. The price was not disclosed. The move comes after she and Pitt came to an agreement on the division of their assets. The exes agreed to lift a “standard temporary restraining order” on their assets, opening the door for Jolie to sell her half of the 1,000-acre (1.5-square-mile) French estate. The sale comes as a victory following the lawsuit filed against her which claimed she was allegedly trying to cut Pitt out of the opportunity to buy her half. According to the court papers, Miraval is owned by Quimicum, a company in which Pitt originally held a 60 percent share through his company Mondo Bongo, while Jolie held 40 percent through her company Nouvel.

Kelly Clarkson’s Ex Still Thinks He Can Keep The Ranch
Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson’s estranged husband, believes he could still receive the Montana ranch he has been living in since their June 2020 split as part of his divorce settlement, he told TMZ on Tuesday. In footage filmed at LAX was adamant that a court judge hasn’t ruled on who got to keep the $10.4 million estate yet – despite Clarkson receiving the property in a recent ruling. Blackstock had argued that the ranch was “marital property” as he challenged the couple’s prenuptial agreement. The judge, however, did not rule in his favor. For her part, Clarkson previously asked the court to let her sell the ranch as it was a “financial burden” for her to maintain. She reported that it cost her $81,000 a month in expenses. Blackstock was ordered to start paying the expenses in April 2021, but that amount hardly makes a dent in the $200,000 a month he receives from the singer in spousal and child support.

Nicole: I Bagged Reluctant Keith-(National Enquirer)
Stubborn Nicole Kidman admitted she had to work overtime to get Keith Urban’s attention when they first met in 2005-because her laid-back future husband “actually wasn’t that interested in me!” Now married 15 years and with two children together, the A-list couple barely made it to their first date, and the lanky country singer’s friends had to talk him into it! “I was really, really into him,” drooled the “Moulin Rouge” star. “He took a little time.”

Casting Next Bond-(Us Weekly)
After 15 years, Daniel Craig knows it’s time to pass the James Bond baton to another actor. However, he recently made it clear that he wants the role to go to another man-not a woman. “Daniel’s always been open to adaptation and fitting in with modern times, but reinventing the wheel by casting a woman as Bond was a firm no-no from his viewpoint,” an insider says of Craig, 53, who will star as 007 for the final time in No Time to Die. “Daniel’s old school in his values and he gets the whole essence of Bond,” adds the insider. “He doesn’t feel a need to apologize for [his beliefs].”
Another Hollywood Heiress-(Star)
Billie Lourde

Experts speculate that the 29-year-old inherited the bulk of Carrie’s estate as well as a portion of her grandmother’s which was worth a whopping $85 million! Billie is philosophical about her loss. “I’ve always kind of lived in their shadows,” she said. “And now is the first time in my life when I get to own my life and just stand on my own.”

Owl Rescued From Molasses
A barn owl was rescued from a sticky situation in Britain when the avian found itself trapped in a bucket of molasses. Kirsteen Atkinson Annear said she was house sitting at a farm near Totnes, England, when she found the fledgling owl covered in molasses in a bucket. Atkinson Annear brought the owl to Seymour Vets in Totnes, where they cleaned the sugary mixture from its feathers. Veterinarians said the owl will need to be cared for over the winter so it can molt and replace the feathers damaged by the molasses. Mateo Ruiz of the Barn Owl Trust said the owl had probably ended up in the bucket of sheep feed while pursuing a rodent that was attracted to the molasses. “Barn owls coexist with us, but need help avoiding hazards we create,” the Barn Owl Trust said in a Facebook post.

Teen Flies Around The World
A British teenager became the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe solo when he completed his flight at age 18 years, 150 days. Travis Ludlow took off May 29 from an airport in the Netherlands and returned to the country 44 days later, after making stops in Poland, Russia, the United States, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Britain, Ireland, Spain, Morocco, France and Belgium. Ludlow originally planned to set off on his flight in May 2020, but was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. His postponed trip still took place in time for him to set the Guinness World Record for the youngest person to circumnavigate by aircraft, solo. The teenager’s stop in the United States allowed him to meet with previous record-holder Mason Andrews, who was 18 years, 163 days old when he completed his circumnavigation flight in October 2018.

Man Sues Psychic
A California man is suing a Los Angeles psychic he paid for fraud because she allegedly claimed she could remove a witch’s curse put on him by his ex-girlfriend for $5,100. Last month, Mauro Restrepo found psychic Sophia Adams’ website that billed her as a “Ph.D. Life Coach” and “psychic love coach,” according to the City News Service in Los Angeles. “This made plaintiff more confident that he was speaking with a professional that could help him,” the lawsuit filed Friday in the Torrance Superior Court stated. Adams gave Restrepo a tarot reading when he visited her office in Palos Verdes Estates and told him he had “mala suerte,” or “bad luck” put there by his ex-girlfriend when she hired a curse-casting witch. Adams allegedly claimed his family would be “unhappy and in danger” unless he paid her $5,100 to remove the curse, the news service reported. Restrepo reportedly paid Adams a $1,000 deposit but she “did not in any way help (his) marriage,” the lawsuit said. Restrepo says he has suffered anxiety and sleepless nights and is also suing for intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress along with negligence and civil conspiracy.

Slow Speed Scooter Chase
An elderly man was seen leading Florida State Troopers on a slow-speed chase in a viral video. The bizarre encounter happened northbound on the Florida Turnpike somewhere near mile marker 9. Decked out in a white golf hat and red polo shirt, he’s driving well below the Turnpike’s speed limit of 70 mph, the video clearly shows. Florida Highway Patrol told Fox News that troopers responded to the area and made contact with a 75-year-old Hispanic male who told them he had accidentally gotten on the highway and didn’t know how to exit. The troopers escorted the man to the next exit ramp to a safe location off the highway. The Instagram user Sparrow Concepts shared the video. Commenters had a field day at the spectacle. “Riding dirty,” wrote one Instagram user, invoking the 2005 hit song “Ridin’” by Chamillionaire. See the video HERE.

13 Mistakes That Could Ruin Your Job Interview, According To Hiring Managers
Huffington Post
- Pretending you don’t have any flaws
“One of the biggest mistakes I believe most people make through the employment process is refusing to admit that they aren’t perfect. Nobody is perfect; none of my candidates, none of our team members, not even me.
“When I ask the question, ‘what is your biggest weakness?’ I’m not trying to catch you out by forcing you to reveal your biggest flaws. I’m trying to see if you recognize that you don’t have the answers to everything and find out whether you’re actually willing to be open and honest about it. Dishonesty is a very toxic trait to have in the workplace and by providing a generic response or even one that contradicts something you’ve previously said, red flags are instantly raised.” — Jon Hayes, marketer at Authority Hacker
- Bad-mouthing your old boss
“Talking negatively about previous companies usually does not present well for the interviewee. The interviewer usually can’t judge the objectivity of the story, so they tend to assume the candidate was dealing with a negative attitude, rather than a difficult situation.
“I have had candidates tell me, ‘It was a mistake going to work there’ or ‘I did not get along with my boss’ or ‘I did not like the company culture’ without explaining more. I recommend sticking to facts and leaving the emotion out of it. For example, say, ‘My manager changed three times over the year and so did my job requirements.’ It makes sense that you would want to leave such a company.” — Miki Feldman Simon, founder of IamBackatWork
- Not bothering to check out the website
“I’ve done a few interviews where the candidates didn’t even look at the website. That’s not an option these days ― it’s a must. I asked for their opinion on the site and a few recommendations, and they stared blankly. I’d say a baseline skill is to come prepared, review the website and have an opinion, even if you’re not the expert!” — Mark Krenn, founder of Coastal Creative
- Forgetting to say ‘thank you’
“We had a candidate for an entry-level position who looked great on paper — great cover letter, decent experience. As we went through the hiring process, there were many email exchanges and a few onsite interviews before we presented an offer. The one thing that stuck out during this particular hiring process was that the candidate never showed any signs of gratitude. Email exchanges were absent of a ‘thank you.’ Even after the onsite interviews, the candidate never thanked any of us after a team interview. This weakened the candidate’s consideration for an entry-level role at our agency.” — Amy Hyde, director of operations at Outspoken Media
- Having your own personal happy hour
“Video interviews are becoming more common, and in my experience, candidates may not take this type of interview seriously ― or remember that they and all their actions are on camera. I interviewed a candidate for a tech position who, halfway through the interview, reached to his right and grabbed a pint of beer. He brought it to his mouth and took a sip before he gave his answer to the question. He was very nonchalant about it.
“‘Is that a beer?’ I asked. ‘Yes, an IPA,’ he responded.
“Sure, the interview was at 4 p.m., but it wasn’t a happy hour interview! The conversation ended shortly after that.” — Alison Daley, founder of Recruiting Innovation
- Negotiating like a rookie
“One candidate asked the following question during the interview: ‘I know that during my phone call with your HR department I acknowledged that I am OK with the $70,000 salary. But because of my bills and upcoming wedding expenses, it will not be enough for me. Would you consider paying me $85,000 if you decide to hire me?’
“This person was fairly young and didn’t know how to negotiate compensation. Ideally, he would have asked for more money upfront or come up with a counteroffer later that didn’t involve his personal reasons for needing a higher salary.” — Sukhjot Basi, CEO of Bank Yogi
- Crossing the line from confidence to arrogance
“I interviewed a candidate once who basically wouldn’t let me get a word in edgewise and ask my questions to vet his qualifications and fit. Instead, they dug into me about the company and my personal background, told long stories about all of the great things they had done and concluded the 15-minute interview by asking when they would be starting.
“The arrogance was off the charts, and I ended the interview without bothering to try to get any information to judge their qualifications. Whether a candidate is confident or not, they have to fake it in an interview for it to be a success. But when it crosses over to arrogance, it’s a deal-breaker.” — Kris Hughes, senior content marketing manager for ProjectManager.com
- Double-dipping employers
“We have been working on a data science engineer role for a big startup. One of the guys we found was literally a genius! He passed four rounds of interviews, solved several data science problems and did a four-hour test with only two cups of coffee and a bag of Cheetos, all while streaming to four other people who were watching his every move. He was clearly brilliant, had matching experience and up-to-date skills. So the big day comes, and he’s about to do the formal, introductory interview with our client. Then ― two minutes before the call ― he tells me he’s decided to stay with his current company, and he wants to do both full-time jobs.
“He was entirely sure that four hours of sleep would be good enough, and figured this would be a good way to pay off his mortgage faster. I asked him not to mention this to the client’s team ― we would figure out after the call if there was anything we could do to make it work. But in the end, he decided to go ahead and try to negotiate his scheme on his first meeting with the client.” — Ihor Shcherbinin, director of recruitment at the DistantJob Remote Placement Agency
- Bringing a buddy (or your mother)
“While it’s understandable that people need to work job interviews into their daily lives, don’t bring a partner, parent or dependent along to an interview with you. I was shocked when one candidate turned up to their scheduled meeting with their mother in tow. This was not for a junior, straight-out-of-college role ― but even if it was, it still would’ve been weird. If someone is tagging along with you for any reason, ask them to wait outside or at a nearby cafe until you are done.” — Jon Brodsky, country manager at Finder.com
- Not asking questions
“At the end of an interview, most employers will ask the interviewee if they have questions. If they say no, this shows me they don’t care enough about the job opportunity or the company. This also tells me they didn’t put time in to do a little bit of research before they came in. Not doing research suggests the employee is potentially lazy.
“Most companies now have an online and social media presence with a wealth of information to glean, so it shouldn’t take long to find the information they need to formulate a few sample questions. Great questions can show the interviewer how interested this person is in the job opening. As much as an employer likes a job candidate, they also want the job candidate to like them back. You don’t want to hire someone who will lose interest and leave within the first year of employment.” — Jason Carney, HR director at WorkSmart Systems
- Lying about your connections
“One time I interviewed a woman who stated she was good friends with an employee in the office and talked about her family and how much she loved them. Yet when I asked the employee about it, she said that they were just acquaintances. Down the road, when we called her references, her previous boss told us on the phone that the candidate was known for lying, among other negative qualities.” — Sharon Kaslassi, media relations supervisor at Blonde 2.0
- Being rude to the receptionist
“While junior team members usually didn’t have much sway in whether an offer was given, I liked getting their feedback when making hiring decisions, so I would have candidates go to lunch with younger team members. Some candidates don’t realize lunch is, while more casual, still a part of the hiring process.
“I’m always eager to hear what transpires in a more relaxed setting. Did the candidate treat everyone with dignity and respect? Were the younger team members dismissed as unimportant? When looking for team players, you seek feedback, especially from anyone who interacts with the candidate, including the receptionist.” — Alexander Lowry, professor of finance at Gordon College
- Stalking the staff
“I had someone who called the front desk a dozen times so he could talk to other people in the company. What he didn’t realize was they had caller ID and saw that when he didn’t get what he wanted, he kept calling and calling and calling. He’d even hang up if the same person answered, like he was going to trick the receptionist. Needless to say, he didn’t get hired.” — Brianna Rooney, founder and CEO of Techees
