Britney Spears said in an Instagram post Sunday that she will be on a break from social media for “a little while.” “I’m going on a social media hiatus for a little while!!!” she wrote. “I send my love and God bless you all.” The announcement follows news that Spears is expecting her third child, her first with her fiancé, Sam Asghari. “I am having a baby,” Spears said earlier this month. “I obviously won’t be going out as much due to the paps getting their money shot of me like they unfortunately already have,” she added. She already has two sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Harry and Meghan Say The Royal Family Shut Them Out
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle “were really stunned” after the royal family “shut the door” following their decision to step back from “The Firm.” The claim was made by a former adviser to former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown, who has written a new book about the British royal family coming out on April 26 titled “The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor – the Truth and the Turmoil.” The book explores “the scandals, love affairs, power plays and betrayals” that have rocked the royals during the last 20 years. It promises to feature new revelations based on Brown’s access to palace insiders. One source alleged to Brown that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were expecting a different response when they decided to launch what the press described as “Megxit.” “They thought… it would force the royal family to respond by saying… ‘OK, Harry and Meghan, what do you want? We’re going to give you what you want,'” Brown quoted an insider. However, the royal family decided to “shut the door,” to the couple’s surprise. One royal aide alleged that the couple had a “mutual addiction to drama” that stemmed from the lead-up to their May 2018 wedding that, on the surface, seemed like a fairytale ending for the former American actress and British prince. “Palace sources report that the preparation for the Sussex union was all drama, all the time,” Brown wrote in her book. “Meghan’s MO was seen as revving up Harry when she sensed any obstruction.”

Paris Hilton Bodyguard Chases Her Around Coachella
Paris Hilton was spotted frolicking the grounds of Coachella while her bodyguard chased her around. She attended weekend two of the Indio, California, festival. “The way Paris Hilton’s bodyguard has to chase after her in the desert heat as she skips away,” a TikTok user wrote as they shared video footage from the festival. The video has since amassed over six million views. In the video, Hilton prances around the festival grounds while wearing a flowy white dress. She accessorized with a pair of sunglasses and a small backpack. Hilton re-shared the video on her own TikTok account. “#Sliving is my cardio. [dance emoji] It’s a workout keeping up with the Queen Sliv,” she captioned the video. “Sliving,” a word Hilton coined, is a combination of “slaying” and “living your best life.” Hilton shared a handful of photos of herself rocking an animal-print bikini paired with matching shoes and a headpiece. She also donned cat-eye sunglasses. See the video HERE.

Kim and Pete Going To Correspondents Dinner
Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson will be back in Washington, DC, this weekend for the 2022 White House Correspondents’ dinner. They will be sitting at Disney/ABC’s table, as the Kardashians’ new reality show is on Hulu (which is owned by Disney). “I don’t think they should feel that they’re safe,” one source said. “Trevor could definitely turn his attention to Kim and Pete.” It’s the first time the dinner will be held in two years, as it was postponed due to the pandemic. President Biden and the First Lady Jill Biden will be attending this year’s gala at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Kardashian last attended the dinner back in 2012 where she was the butt of jokes from host Jimmy Kimmel and then-President Barack Obama. “If you’re looking for the greatest threat to America right now, she’s right there,” Kimmel joked. “She’s Kim Kardashian.” In a planned, pre-taped segment, Obama’s voice was heard offstage, as if his microphone had been left on accidentally. “Seriously, guys, what am I doing here?” Obama said. “I’m the President of the United States, and I’m opening for Jimmy Kimmel? Why am I telling knock-knock jokes to Kim Kardashian? What is she famous for, anyway?”

Sharon Osbourne Shares Plastic Surgery Nightmare
Sharon Osbourne wasn’t pleased with the results of her most recent plastic surgery procedure. “I had a full facelift done in October and I looked like one of those f—king mummies that they wrap [with bandages],” she told the Sunday Times recently. “It hurt like hell. You have no idea.” The procedure took five and half hours, and Osbourne felt she looked “horrendous” afterward. “[To the surgeon] I’m, like, ‘You’ve got to be f—king joking.’ One eye was different to the other. I looked like a f—king Cyclops. I’m, like, ‘All I need is a hunchback,’” she recalled. She wasn’t the only one displeased with the results. Her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, told her, “I don’t care how much it costs, we’ll get it redone.” Now, Osbourne’s ever-evolving face is “settling,” and she’s happy with her appearance.

Nurse Runs Marathon In Scrubs
A Philadelphia nurse broke a Guinness World Record when she donned her hospital scrubs and ran a marathon in 2 hours, 48 minutes and 2 seconds. Sam Roecker, who works full time as a nurse at Penn Medicine’s Perelman Center, wore her hospital scrubs at Monday’s Boston Marathon and broke the Guinness World Record for fastest marathon in a nurse’s uniform. The previous record of 3 hours, 8 minutes and 22 seconds was set by Jessica Anderson at the London Marathon in 2019. Roecker dedicated her record attempt to raise awareness of the mental health challenges facing nurses amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Her run raised more than $45,000 for mental health services. “A lot of anxiety, a lot of PTSD, there’s not really a lot of resources out there,” Roecker told WTFX-TV of the mental health issues faced by nurses. “I kind of saw that gap and was looking for a way to bring some kind of positivity to my co-workers and friends who have been struggling.” See the video HERE.

Woman Rescued From Outhouse
A woman who accidentally dropped her cellphone into the hole of an outhouse in a national forest and fell in while trying to retrieve it had to be rescued by firefighters in Washington state. Brinnon Fire Department Chief Tim Manly said the woman, who was at the top of Mount Walker in the Olympic National Forest northwest of Seattle, had been using her phone when it fell into the toilet on Tuesday, The Kitsap Sun reported. Manly said she disassembled the toilet seat and used dog leashes to try and get the phone and eventually used the leashes to tie herself off as she reached for it. That effort failed and she fell into the toilet headfirst. “They didn’t work very well and in she went,” Manly said. The woman was alone and tried to get out for 10 to 15 minutes. Reunited with her phone, she called 911, Manly said. Responding firefighters passed her blocks to stand on to reach a harness, which they used to pull her out of the vault.

Queen Jubilee Sauce
Two of the UK’s best-known condiments are getting a royal makeover to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Heinz is releasing limited-edition bottles of “HM Sauce” and “Salad Queen” to mark Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne. They’re going to be available on supermarket shelves from this week – ahead of parties, picnics and parades over the four-day bank holiday in June. After their contents have been splashed on helpings of coronation chicken and (Bucking)ham sandwiches, the bottles could serve as a saucy souvenir. Heinz senior brand manager Anke von Hanstein said: “This is an extraordinary moment for the Queen and the great British public, and we want to celebrate this with two of our most well-loved and historic sauces. “Releasing limited-edition bottles in time for the Jubilee felt like the perfect fit. We hope our customers enjoy these celebratory designs and that they add a squeeze of fun to the Jubilee celebrations, however one is celebrating.”

Florida Woman Threatens School
A woman has been arrested months after threatening to blow up her son’s high school unless cafeteria workers started giving him more food, officials said. The threat was left Feb. 3 in a voicemail to Cocoa High School on Florida’s Atlantic Coast, according to police and court records. The 41-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday and charged with making a false bomb threat and disruption of a school. She did not leave her name on the voicemail, but the school’s caller ID recorded the number, an arrest report said. Staff members at the school listened to the message the next morning and contacted Cocoa police. The school was evacuated, but no weapons or explosive devices were found.

The Most Important Phrases You Should Teach Your Kid From A Young Age
Huffington Post
- “There’s no such thing as a stupid question.”
Little kids love asking questions — sometimes nonstop from the moment they open their eyes in the morning to the time their head hits the pillow at night. All that curiosity is great, but it can also be exhausting for parents and caregivers.
“Sometimes we inadvertently deflect our children’s curiosity because it can be overwhelming,” psychotherapist Mercedes Samudio, author of “Shame-Proof Parenting,” told HuffPost. “But teaching our children that there is nothing wrong with being curious and even teaching them how to seek out answers from others can be a helpful trait to cultivate in children from a young age.”
Encouraging their inquisitiveness and helping them feel confident enough to speak up when they’re unsure about something will serve them well for years to come.
- “I got this!”
We want our kids to adopt a “growth mindset,” a term coined by Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck, which describes the belief that talent can be developed with hard work, determination and help from others. Those with a fixed mindset, however, believe their intelligence and skills are innate and therefore unlikely to be improved upon.
“When kids (or adults) are in a fixed mindset, difficulty makes them feel inadequate — their fixed ability feels deficient — and their confidence becomes shaky,” Dweck told Stanford News. “But when they are in a growth mindset, difficulty is a natural part of learning, so they are more likely to take it in stride and find new strategies that work better.”
Phrases like “I got this!” can help kids feel more confident as they attempt new and difficult things.
Borba recommends encouraging your child to use phrases like “I got this” or “I can do this” to bolster their belief in themselves when challenges arise.
“Our children must develop growth mindsets — a sense of personal efficacy or agency — especially in today’s uncertain world,” she said. “Resilient children are tenacious — they don’t stop! And they don’t wait to be rescued.”
- “Hi, my name is X. What’s yours?”
Between schools being closed and many activities and events being canceled, the coronavirus pandemic limited kids’ opportunities to socialize with their peers. Now that things are opening up again, we can encourage kids to get back out there and introduce themselves to new people and, hey, maybe even make a new friend.
“Two years of physical distancing has caused a lot of children to be socially anxious,” she said. “They haven’t exercised their social skills — and they’re easy to learn if we model them.”
- “It’s OK to make mistakes. Just be honest about it.”
Making mistakes is an inevitable part of life. When we teach our kids this, we send a message that messing up is only human. It’s how we handle those blunders that matters.
“Honesty is a trait many parents want to cultivate in their children, and the best way to do that is to make sure that it’s OK to make mistakes in your family,” Samudio said. “From a young age, we can teach children that the best way to develop honesty is to be supported through mistakes — which moves children away from lying to get out of trouble, because mistakes don’t bring punitive responses.”
- “Thank you.”
Gratitude is a learned behavior. As parents, it’s our duty to help instill in our children the importance of being thankful for what we have — and expressing it. Research has shown that practicing gratitude is strongly and consistently linked with greater happiness, as well as better health and relationships.
Saying thank you often increases gratitude — “a known and simple happiness booster,” Borba said.
You might model this to your child by expressing to them how grateful you are for their thoughtful or helpful acts, said Amy McCready, founder of Positive Parenting Solutions.
“Be specific about how they made a difference for you: ‘Thank you for playing with the dog while I had my conference call. I really appreciate how you kept him occupied so I could concentrate on the meeting.’” she previously told HuffPost. “Being the recipient of gratitude will encourage your kids to want to pass it on.”
Let them also see you share your appreciation for others in your day-to-day life.
“From the cashier at the grocery store, to the dry cleaner to their teachers,” said McCready. “Your kids are watching and listening.”
- “It’ll be OK.”
Helping our kids learn to stay optimistic through difficult times can put them in a better position to weather life’s challenges.
Language like “It’ll be OK,” “I’ll get through it” and “Things will get better” can be powerful in achieving this.
“Let’s teach kids simple statements to keep hope alive and pessimism down,” Borba said.
According to Aha! Parenting, “Research shows that optimists, who believe they can achieve success, are in fact more able to do so. They are less likely to get depressed, get fewer illnesses, have longer relationships, and live longer.”
Teach your child that they have the power to perceive setbacks any way they choose. When they’re catastrophizing, remind them that many problems are temporary and often within their power to fix — or at least improve.
