Goop Sees Big Increase After Trial
The real winner from the recent Gwyneth Paltrow trial is her company Goop. Interest rose 195% hours after she won her recent court case. She was on trial due to a ski accident in Utah. Her alleged reckless skiing resulted in four broken ribs, a concussion, and long-term brain damage for retired optometrist Terry Sanderson. The incident occurred at Utah’s Deer Valley Resort on February 26th, 2016. In addition to being found not at fault, Paltrow won her countersuit for $1. She also recoups legal fees. The data comes from a team of researchers at Japan-101. They also noticed that interest in ‘skiing trips’ rose 142% worldwide due to the trial. “Gwyneth Paltrow’s appearance in court has sent the internet into a frenzy with every detail making headlines,” said a spokesperson on behalf of Japan-101. “However, whilst Paltrow only won $1 in damages, these findings suggest that the actress-turned-businesswoman can expect to receive far more from purchases through Goop on various products. It will be interesting to see if these searches do indeed translate into sales.”

New Indiana Jones Debuting At Cannes
“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” the fifth film in the Harrison Ford adventure series, will make its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18, festival organizers announced Monday. Cannes will also pay a tribute to Ford for his career. The premiere of “Dial of Destiny,” directed by James Mangold, comes 15 years after 2008′s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” premiered at the French festival. “Dial of Destiny,” billed as the final chapter in the franchise, will open in U.S. theaters June 28th. The full Cannes lineup will be announced April 13.

Joaquin Phoenix Fainted During Movie Shoot
Joaquin Phoenix fainted while filming an intense scene for his new film, Beau is Afraid. On Saturday, writer-director Ari Aster revealed during a Q&A moderated by Emma Stone at a surprise screening of the movie in New York that Phoenix had collapsed on set during an emotionally intense scene. “There was a scene that was very intense for Patti [LuPone], and it was a shot that was on Patti — it was not on him — and all of a sudden, [Phoenix] fell out of frame,” Aster said, according to Deadline. “I was really pissed ’cause it was a really good take. It felt confusing so I went around the corner, and he was collapsed,” he continued. “I knew it was bad because he was letting people touch him, and people were tending to him and he was allowing it.” “The point is that he fainted in somebody else’s take. He wasn’t on camera, and he was helping them. He was in it for them to the point where he collapsed,” Aster said of Phoenix. “It’s very poetic that he collapsed in somebody else’s shot.” In January, A24 released the official trailer for Beau Is Afraid, Aster’s first movie since 2019’s Midsommar, which appears to follows Phoenix’s title character Beau over a long period of his life. Beau Is Afraid releases exclusively in theaters April 21.

Brooke Shields felt “regret” after losing her virginity to Dean Cain. In her “Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields” documentary, now streaming on Hulu, the actress recalls running “butt naked” from the room after being intimate with him nearly 40 years ago. Shields remembers Cain being “more comfortable with … the sexual part” of their romance. “I wanted to jump into the personal relationship and the love and the commitment,” she explains to viewers. “We had to teach each other about each other.” Although she did not initially understand her reaction to having sex, she now knows she felt “sort of a regret for lost exploration and opportunity to understand my personal sexuality.” She adds, “I feel bad for that girl. As he worked on “Happy Days,” Howard said he was losing patience not being able to fulfill his true dreams of becoming a filmmaker. A rumor was put to rest that Ron’s first vision was creating a wild new version of an old character. “How much truth is there really to “Opie Gets Laid,” Bensinger asked. “Well, it’s true that it went through my mind,” Howard said. “It endured as a serious idea for probably about two-and-a-half to three seconds.” “The entire time that I was under contract and doing ‘Happy Days,’ my dream was to be a filmmaker. Samantha Markle is not giving up without a fight.
Meghan Markle’s sister is taking another legal shot at her after her defamation lawsuit was thrown out, refiling the claims that the judge dismissed without prejudice. “It is unfortunate to see that the press has chosen to wrongly report on the Judge’s ruling as a total win by Meghan,” Samantha Markle’s lawyer, Jamie A. Sasson, said in a statement to Newsweek, referring to the decision made last week on the case. “Upon reviewing the order, it is made very clear that the entire case was not tossed out, but in fact, the Judge is allowing Samantha the ability to amend her complaint within a 14-day period,” Sasson continued. “This upcoming amendment will address certain legal issues that are related to our claims for defamation as it specifically relates to the Oprah interview on CBS.” The statement concluded with “We vehemently oppose the narrative that the press has decided to spin in Meghan’s favor and look forward to presenting an even stronger argument for the defamation and losses that our Client has had to endure.” Samantha originally filed the lawsuit in 2021, requesting $75k from Meghan after she allegedly defamed her in two separate instances.

Dog Reunited After Missing For 3 Years
Staff at a South Carolina animal shelter said a dog brought in as a stray was scanned for a microchip and found to be a pet missing for three years. Personnel at Dorchester Paws in Summerville said a member of the public brought a stray dog to the shelter March 19, and the canine was suffering multiple health problems including malnourishment, dental problems, matted fur and a flea infestation. The shelter scanned the dog for a microchip and he was identified as an 18-year-old missing pet named Binky, or Mr. B. The shelter said Binky’s family, who live six hours away from Summerville, were surprised and overjoyed to learn their pet had been found after three years. The shelter said Mr. B’s story highlights the importance of microchipping.

Alligator Arrested In Florida
Tampa police officers were called to a commercial part of town because of a disturbance, but it wasn’t a public brawl or anyone behaving in a disorderly manner. It was a 9-foot alligator Wednesday night ambling down a street not far from Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The urban gator whipped its tail several times when an officer first approached it, poking with an outstretched baton. A half dozen officers along with a crowd of spectators watched as lights from squad cars flashed on the blocked off street, according to bodycam video released by the Tampa Police Department. The officer then fashioned a noose from a yellow rope and lassoed it around the top of the gator’s mouth. “Ready?” one of the officers said. “You want to jump on him?” And that’s what they did, as one officer went for the head with outstretched hands and another officer weighed down the rest of the alligator’s body. A third officer was recruited to help weigh the gator down.

Wild Turkeys On The Loose
Wild turkeys are known for being aggressive toward humans if provoked, wildlife experts say. The town of Cambridge, Massachusetts, is experiencing a wild turkey issue throughout the community. Wild turkeys have been gathering outside residents’ homes — and becoming aggressive when people try to exit their front doors or shuttle kids to school. A mail carrier was recently attacked in that upscale New England neighborhood, sparking conversation among neighbors and those within the community, as the U.K.’s Daily Mail reported. Some have seen the turkeys squatting in their front lawn, sitting in the middle of residential roads and even rummaging through the trash. The turkeys have been trotting through the neighborhoods when kids leave for school in the morning, according to reports — causing parents to keep an extra eye out.

Touching and moving things
“When someone says ‘Make yourself at home,’ they usually do not mean this literally,” said Jodi R.R. Smith, president of Mannersmith Etiquette Consulting. “You should keep your feet off the furniture, and unless this is a close friend, you should not be opening the fridge without being asked to do so.” Wait for the host to give you the go-ahead to touch or interact with things you see. Until that happens, quickly ask for permission if something strikes your fancy. “Ask before touching an object or removing a book from a shelf,” advised Nick Leighton, an etiquette expert, and co-host of the “Were You Raised by Wolves?” podcast.
Expecting a tour
“Don’t demand a tour of someone’s home,” Leighton urged. “Wait to be invited by your host.” Many people are happy to lead a little tour of their space when they invite people over, but that isn’t true of everyone at all times. And if your host doesn’t offer a tour, don’t take it upon yourself to give yourself one, either. “Don’t take a tour of the house unless you are encouraged by the host to ‘wander’ around,” said Diane Gottsman, an etiquette expert, author of “Modern Etiquette for a Better Life” and founder of The Protocol School of Texas.
Overstaying your welcome
“Know when it’s time to leave,” urged Leighton. “The number one complaint we hear from hosts is about guests who overstay their welcome.” You might still be enjoying your nightcap or get the sense everyone is having a great time chatting. But pay attention to the hosts’ body language and suggest that those who want to continue hanging out relocate elsewhere. “If your hosts have changed into their pajamas, that’s probably a good sign that it’s time to go,” Leighton added.
Hiding a mess
Unfortunately, things happen when you’re in another person’s home. You might accidentally spill red wine on the carpet or knock over a lamp. Don’t ignore or try to hide it. “If you break something, or even just finish the roll of toilet paper, it is best to let your host know as quickly and quietly as possible,” Smith said.
Snooping
“Refrain from peeking in cabinets and cupboards,” Smith advised. Of course, it’s natural to be a little curious, and we’ve seen this exact behavior in countless movies. But resist the urge to look inside the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. “Beware that some hosts put glass marbles in their medicine cabinets to catch snoopers in the act,” Leighton said. “The marbles will ping around the bathroom and make a lot of noise for your host and all other guests to hear.”
Bringing an uninvited plus-one
“Never show up with an unexpected plus one,” Gottsman said. Sure, you might know the host loves hanging out with your cousin, or you think everyone will enjoy meeting the new guy you’re seeing. But that doesn’t mean you can extend an invitation without getting the go-ahead. Unless you were explicitly told that you may bring a plus-one (or plus-five), always ask before bringing anyone else into someone’s home. Even if it’s a casual gathering, shoot the host a quick text to make sure.
Waiting to share dietary restrictions
“If you have been invited for a meal, any dietary restrictions should be shared well in advance, not when you sit down at the table,” Smith noted. Don’t just expect the meal to be vegan-friendly or not contain any of your allergens. Tell the host as soon as possible about any limitations you may have (and stick to actual limitations, not preferences).
Feeding the dog
Regarding dietary restrictions, it’s important to remember that the host’s pets may have some, so don’t share your food. “Don’t feed the host’s dog under the table unless you ask your host first,” Gottsman said. “The dog may have an allergy or be on a special diet.”
Disrespecting shoe rules
“Shoes on or off tends to be very individual specific,” Smith noted. “Listen to what your host prefers.”
It’s understandable why many people prefer not to track the dirt and germs of the outside world into their homes when possible. “Be prepared to remove your shoes if asked,” Leighton said. “Throw a pair of socks or slippers in your bag if you don’t like being barefoot and think you might be heading to a no-shoe household.” Smith also believes hosts should be prepared for their ask.
“Hosts that want shoes left at the door should also have slippers or socks for the guests,” she said. “Hosts will also need to understand if the guest declines. Fashionistas prefer to keep their shoes on as part of their ensemble.”
Interfering with the setup
“Don’t switch place cards at the dinner table,” Gottsman advised. People put time and effort into hosting events like dinner parties, so respect what they put together and don’t try to interfere or make changes.
Showing up empty-handed
“As a guest, you should arrive with a small gift for the host,” Smith said. However, there’s no need to be too extravagant or overthink the host’s gift. Pick up a nice bottle of wine or a bouquet of flowers. It’s the thought that counts.
