The Rock Explains His Bathing Habits
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wants the world to know he has a very strict showering regimen — unlike some other celebrities. After a fan tweeted that Johnson “can’t possibly be one of those stinky” stars, he quickly confirmed she was correct — and even shared details about his bathing habits. “Nope, I’m the opposite of a ‘not washing themselves’ celeb,” he responded Friday. “Shower (cold) when I roll outta bed to get my day rollin’. Shower (warm) after my workout before work. Shower (hot) after I get home from work.” Along with a soap emoji, he added, “Face wash, body wash, exfoliate and I sing (off key) in the shower.” Celebrities neglecting their hygiene has been a hot topic lately, most recently after Jake Gyllenhaal revealed his stance Thursday. “More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times,” he told Vanity Fair in an interview promoting Prada’s Luna Rossa Ocean fragrance. Joe Exotic Says His Cancer Is Spreading
Joe Exotic, has not received any treatment for his prostate cancer in months — while sitting in prison for his involvement in a murder-for-hire plot — but the 58-year-old revealed that his cancer may have spread to his pelvis and stomach. He told the Sun that he will refuse medical help if the disease progresses to stage three or four, claiming that he’s “ready to die.” Exotic revealed in May that he was suffering from prostate cancer but had not received treatment while doing his time in a Fort Worth, Texas, prison. “I have been waiting for a colonoscopy and endoscopy since October. Medical treatment in a prison is worse than at any humane society for dogs,” he told the outlet. He said he has experienced hip and pelvis pain, and for over a year, his stomach has hurt, and he walks with a limp. He intends to get a biopsy for his prostate and bladder, a colonoscopy and an endoscopy while at a specialist medical center. “The prison has approved testing to verify what stage it is in,” he wrote in May. “My body is tired, I have lost a tremendous amount of weight, the mouth sores are out of control, I throw up more than I eat. This is crazy how they put people in here and just let you die,” he told the Sun. “The things that I’ve seen and the dead people I’ve seen wheeled out of here is outrageous and it’s time that our president and our politicians hear the truth.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle considered moving to New Zealand more than a year before they staged their Megxit. Queen Elizabeth II’s representative in New Zealand, Governor-General Patsy Reddy, revealed that they talked to her about the possibility of relocating to the island country in 2018 while they were visiting. “I remember they’d just been down to the Abel Tasman National Park when we sat down and had a drink, and they said that they could imagine living in a place like this and wondered whether we thought it would be theoretically possible. Even possible for them to have a place in New Zealand,” Reddy recalled. “Of course, we said, ‘Sure. It would be fine.’ There are lots of opportunities to live in New Zealand, but that would be something that they’d have to explore,” Reddy said. “They were looking at how they might raise their family. And, obviously, they’ve made some decisions since.”

New Teaser For Ellen’s Final Season
The “Ellen DeGeneres Show” has unveiled a promo video for its final season, which premieres Monday, Sept. 13. In it, the show proclaims that it has doled out a staggering amount in its famous charitable giveaways over the years: nearly a half-billion dollars in total. The trailer also highlights the show’s on-air accomplishments in the years since its launch in 2003, including 4,000 celeb guests — including A-listers like Michelle Obama, Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. In the lead-up to the “Ellen” show’s end, the embattled comedian has faced several scandals, including allegations that “Ellen” has a toxic workplace environment behind the scenes — a bombshell that made the boundary-breaking comedian seem like a hypocrite for her “be kind” catchphrase. In an explosive Buzzfeed report in July 2020, former staffers raised allegations of racism behind the scenes and allegations of sexual misconduct from producers, resulting in an investigation from Warner Media and three producers getting ousted from the show last August. Nick Cannon Explains Having Lots Of Kids From Different Women
Nick Cannon says having multiple babies with multiple girlfriends is his way of rebelling against the “Eurocentric” institution of marriage. “That’s a Eurocentric concept … the idea that you’re supposed to have this one person for the rest of your life,” explained Cannon on New York City morning show, Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club,” on Monday. “The idea that a man should have one woman,” he continued. “We shouldn’t have anything. Trash Collectors Give Cash Back To Family
Waste collection workers in Ohio were able to reunite $25,000 cash with the family that accidentally threw it out while helping a grandmother clean her home. Republic Services officials in Lorain County said a call came in last week from a family who reported an envelope containing $25,000 had accidentally been thrown in the trash just before the garbage truck came through the area. “They were cleaning out their house for their grandmother and they cleaned out the refrigerator, threw out all the garbage, grabbed all the freezer stuff and put it in a bag, and then the grandma was like, ‘Hey, there’s an envelope with $25,000 in there, don’t lose that,’ and she’s like, ‘Grandma, I already lost that, it’s in the garbage,'” operations supervisor Gary Capan told WEWS-TV. Capan said his team was able to contact the truck driver before he reached the landfill, and he was diverted to a recycling facility in Oberlin so workers could go through the contents of his vehicle. Dan Schoewe, the operations manager at the recycling center, said it only took about 10 minutes of searching to locate the right bag. Schoewe said it felt good to be able to provide a happy ending for the story.

Napping Hiker Has Bear Encounter
Officials in Montana are warning members of the public to keep away from wildlife underpasses after a napping hiker slept through an encounter with a bear. The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Wildlife Management Program posted photos to Facebook showing a bear traveling through the Highway 93 underpass tunnel and walking right past an apparent hiker who had sheltered in the tunnel for a nap. The Facebook post said the unidentified napper “slept through the whole encounter and the bear moved on without incident.” Wildlife Management officials said the tunnels are frequented by wild animals and should be avoided by members of the public. Car Shoots Fire From Headlights
A Russian hot rod enthusiast showed off his latest custom vehicle: a car that shoots jets of fire from its headlights. Vahan Mikaelyan, a mechanic whose previous creations include a car that walks on eight legs instead wheels, said he used a VAZ-2106 Zhiguli, commonly called a Lada 1600, to create his latest custom car, which he dubbed the “Dragon.” Mikaelyan shared a video on Reddit showing the headlight flamethrowers launching jets of fire a distance of about 20 feet. Mikaelyan said he is planning an event for later this month that will feature another car being set on fire by his Dragon. See the video HERE.

Ball Girl Tackles Field Invader
Dodger Stadium was the site of the latest idiot on the field Sunday. He managed to make into center field, at which point he was seemingly surrounded by a half-dozen members of the security team. Displaying elite speed and hurdling a tackle attempt, he booked it for right field, where a short fence might have provided a natural escape. If it weren’t for a ball girl, lying in wait. One hard push and one crash over the fence later, the runner was on the ground and being apprehended by security. Television feeds typically avoid airing footage of idiots on the field so they don’t encourage the behavior, but there are no such rules on social media. See the video HERE.

4 Things To Start Doing Now To Get Kids Ready For School This Fall

- Be honest with them about what’s happening right now with the pandemic.
Although it looked for a moment like the COVID-19 pandemic might have started to wind down in the United States, that is clearly no longer true. Cases have risen sharply with the spread of the highly contagious delta variant, and there has been a “substantial increase” in the number of cases among children in the U.S.
Of course, parents do not need to delve into those specifics with their kids, particularly young kids. But it’s a good idea to have an open discussion now about how the pandemic is not over, even though we all want it to be. And while school is unlikely to be as disrupted and disjointed as it has been over the past 18 months, this is still not a typical school year.
“I think it’s important to say: ‘Right now, this is the plan,’” Domingues said. Tell them what day school is supposed to start. Let them know if they’re going to be wearing masks. But she also suggested saying something like: “We know that the pandemic isn’t over, and things are changing. So there might need to be some flexibility in there. And I will continue to keep you posted, and we will continue to talk.”
“Leaving the door open for communication is key,” Domingues said, “especially when things are uncertain.”
- Drop them off somewhere.
While many children were in-person for much (if not all) of the past school year, plenty of other families have been around each other pretty much 24/7 for 18 months. And in those cases — or even if you’ve just spent a lot of quality time together over the summer — separating could be difficult, Domingues said. That’s especially true if you’ve got, say, a preschooler who just really hasn’t had a ton of experience being away from you.
Practice can help. Before school starts, give your child opportunities to leave you and spend time with peers. Maybe take them to camp, Domingues suggested. Or simply drop them off for a play date or to hang out with a family member for a few hours. It can help them get reacquainted with what it feels like to separate from you, and to learn that while it might feel uncomfortable, they can get through it.
- Practice getting out the door.
Mornings are notoriously hectic in families, and many parents haven’t had much practice getting themselves and their children out the door. Commit to spending a few days before school starts where you set a time to wake up and a time to get out the door together. If you’re still working from home yourself, consider going into the office a few times in advance just to remind yourself what that’s like, Domingues suggested.
“That way you’re not doing it all at once come September,” she said.
However, do not feel like you have to go overboard or give up whatever relaxing mornings at home that you have left at this point, she added. And be compassionate with yourself, knowing that the transition isn’t going to be perfect no matter how much you plan ahead — and that’s OK.
“You’re preparing for the fall now, and that’s great,” Domingues said. “Also try and be in the moment and enjoy the last bits of summer, too.”
- Go visit the school.
Try “playing in the playground, or just walking to the school and talking about the building,” Domingues suggested. “If there’s an opportunity to maybe meet a teacher or talk about who the teacher is — anything that’s going to make school feel familiar, and root children in knowing, will be helpful for the fall.”
Again, it might take some time for your kids to get comfortable no matter how much you prepare them. In any given school year, September is really a month of transition, Domingues said. By October, it’s usually clearer which children might need some additional help. (However, that timeline might be a bit different this year, she noted, as so many kids deal with yet another period of pretty significant transition.)
Trust your parenting gut, Domingues said, and don’t be afraid to reach out for extra support. Reemergence anxiety is real, and many kids are going to need a bit of extra support.
“Be in communication with the school, letting them know what your concerns are, and really advocating and fostering that community with the school,” she urged.
